This had been on my list for months! The location is a little out of the way for a lot of people, being on a hotel rooftop bar north of Hopkins medical campus. Take the express elevator up to the top floor and you enter into a large enclosed bar area with floor-to-ceiling windows that give a view of... the roof. It's outside, on the large roof terrace, where the location really shines - 180 degree views from downtown Baltimore to the west, north over the city, to Bayview in the east. Happy hour is very reasonable, pricewise, but I wish it lasted until 7 like the average local bar - instead, it's done by 6. I think this is a place to have wine or a mixed drink rather than a cocktail - the wine list was decent and decently-priced. I didn't eat, so I'll have to be back! read more

I feel like this is one of those weeks where I just get poor service everywhere I go! I had really high hopes for this place as setting up for our event was going really great and management staff seemed really nice. They told us before we came that they were expecting a larger than normal crowd so i assumed they would be well staffed in order to handle the crowds I was so wrong. When we arrived they had our spot reserved which was nice but thats about where It ended. I ordered at the bar because wait staff never came around to take our order. I ended up playing waiter because we didnt have one. i didnt mind running food for my friends but its not something i expect to do when visiting a resturant. I honestly think they forgot about our food and when i told them what we ordered they just handed me the first one they saw. The bartender told me at the time that he closed my tab but im 80% sure he didnt as later in the night they decided they couldnt let more people in because the bar was overwhelmed. This is where my experience went down hill. I asked to speak with the bar manager as i was holding an event and wanted those with us to be able to at least sit and wait instead of being held at the door. She basically told me she would rather they wait outside as others left and most of the tables were empty rather than have them come in and be able to sit and wait for service. I think her logic was flawed because not only did most of them leave but other from our party left too. I was mostly annoyed with an employee by the name of "Tim" who decided that the bar manager could not speak for herself and decided to speak over her while i was having a very rational converation with her. As far as overall, the food that i was able to order (flat bread and fries) was very basic so i cant really rate the food. but the views were amazing! i will give them that, they have a great location and i really hope they have staff that can better manage it. read more

I am an host and event planner, I recently hosted a party here and was very pleased with the staff. Menu was ok, drinks were awesome and the prices were excellent as well. The manager Duane Saunders was absolutely amazing. He assisted with floor plan and décor as he walked through and assisted me through each step. Staying at the hotel, I wanted to eat there. However some genius decided to have an employee party and close the bar and the restaurant at the same time. Very disappointing scheduling for the hotel guests. Whoever in management allowed this should be let go. read more

When I was invited to check out Baltimore's newest rooftop restaurant, 16 On The Park, I was more than a little excited. Baltimore has a serious rooftop hangout shortage. The space opened in October and provides some much needed dining diversity to the area. Most of the restaurants over by Hopkins skew fast casual and lunch-y. Charcuterie is one of my favs, so of course Kim (@nomtasticfoods) and I started with this. The picture really doesn't do this impressive dish justice. Not only was it massive, but there were so many types of meats and cheeses. We were in heaven. Next up was the Lobster Mac N Cheese. Not only were the noodles insanely creamy and cheesy - it had massive hunks of fresh lobster. Do yourself a favor and order this dish, it's easily the best lobster mac I've ever had. I've mentioned my love of Brussels Sprouts before and the ones at 16 on the Park had a spicy soy glaze which had the perfect amount of heat. We inhaled these and I would definitely order them again next time. Continuing on the lobster kick, we went with the Lobster Roll. There were huge, fresh, meaty chunks of lobster in a buttery toasted roll over a bed of fries. If this dish sounds like a dream, that's because it was. I'm drooling just thinking about it. The last savory dish we ordered was the Flat Iron Steak. Not only was this beautifully cooked and prepared, it was also unbelievably tender. This dish was another winner. When we glanced at the dessert menu and spotted a Smith Island Cake of course we had to order it. It's the official cake of Maryland and perfect for any chocolate lover in your life. Each layer of cake is super moist, and has plenty of delicious chocolate frosting. Because 16 on the Park had an extensive cocktail menu, we also tried a few drinks. We were very impressed with the cocktail menu and can't wait to go back to work our way through the rest of the drinks. read more

Met with friends for a late lunch recently. There were two other tables seated with only two people at one and one person at the other when we arrived. The food was pretty good, however the host/bartender/waiter is one of the most rude people I've encountered. He is so unfriendly and has an arrogance that doesn't belong in the service industry. He showed us very little attention, did not refill our drinks without our having to ask. Even then, he took his good old time. He seems very unhappy in his job and I hope the hotel will release him from it! Never asked if our food was okay. After ordering appetizers, I told him my husband and I would share an entree salad. When the food finally came (took too long) he plopped it in the middle of the table, no extra plate for sharing. I had to take a plate from under an appetizer we had finished. When we were done with our food, he came to the table and held his hand out for us to give him our dishes. Beware, he's also the bartender in the hotel lobby. I was here for a birthday gathering with one of my friends and I was very impressed. The atmosphere is very welcoming, open and fresh. This rooftop resturant gives you the perfect view of Baltimore. I had crab and corn (fritters?) and they were very tasty. I missed the happy hour pricing, but the regular prices are reasonable. I rinsed my "fritters" down with a glass of Rosé. The views and ambience are excellent, but unfortunately the service is SHOCKINGLY bad. A bunch of my friends and I came in for happy hour, and left decidedly less than happy. First, the service was slow--our food came out in a random order and multiple orders of the same thing ordered at the same time came out nearly an hour apart. Our server then proceeded to spill 2 glasses of water on top of my friends' backpack containing her laptop, and never acknowledged it or apologized (the laptop was fine, no thanks to you!). Then, our server was incredibly curt and rude to our friends that came a little later and wanted to order and sit with us. I understand that large groups can be a hassle for waitstaff, but our waitress was mean to the point of shameful. read more

Okay, I love this place....however there is one bartender who tends to be a little slow...very very very nice, but slow as hell. He gets sidetracked from time to time and it can be a bit annoying when tying to get his attention. My favorite thing about this place used to be the fact that you can sit outside and drink and eat while enjoying the view, however now, you are no longer able to take drinks outside. At least that is what I was told on my visit yesterday. I definitely think Mamagement should make the change back to allow patrons the opportunity to enjoy their meals and drinks outside. We don't have many experiences like that here in Baltimore. read more

The ambiance is great, you take the elevator straight to the penthouse of the Marriott Hotel and your greeted by an open dining area with high & low tables, a mid sized bar and the icing on the cake and amazing rooftop patio with fire pits and beautiful skyline views. Thats where the fun ends. The service is slow, very slow. Ive waited to leave a review after several visits because I am rooting for this place however nothing has changed in terms of the service. On the last visit my friend and I came on a Friday evening, there was no wait like there usually is in the evenings or at rush hour so we sat on the beautiful deck. And we sat some more. And sat some more. We waited almost 20 minutes. Finally we saw a lady in uniform top who appeared to be a waitress clearing tables so we asked her if she was our waitress, she replied she didn't know who our waitress was and left it at that. I then had to ask her if she could please find out. She said ok reluctantly, left and did not return. When she came back to our section, she was waitressing for a table that had been already seated. We waited patiently trying to get her attention since she was a few tables away, and finally just called out to her. When she came over she still had no news for us so I said were still waiting for service. She replied I don't know who your waitress is but I'll be your waitress. I mean hello. I don't understand, its like pulling teeth to get service and it was by no means crowded. The running theme for me has been decent happy hour, great decor and views but lackluster service. Whenever 16 on the park comes up in discussions with friends its always the same complaint, service. Some of the servers do not move with a sense of urgency or motivation and theres never an apology or offer to comp for poor service. We finally placed our order, we skipped apps because we had waited so long and ordered crab cakes and rose and again waited for 35 minutes. When the food arrived it was lukewarm. The crab cakes were delicious and the aioli was perfect however our server was MIA until we were almost finished eating. I am so disappointed in the service. It seems like simple staff training, organization and secret shops or checking in on staff to ensure they are doing their job properly would make this place a true gem. read more

This is a really cute spot! The food is even good. The service....absolutely unacceptable. I was SO disappointed. I used the hotel for my overnight guests during my wedding weekend in early August. I reserved a space that Friday to serve as a "Welcome Event". Nothing turned out as I had hoped. Every guest complained about the server. We had 1 server for about 15 guests who was also waiting on other guests. The rooftop sounds like a good idea but I would NOT recommend this place for anything special. If you just want to hang out and lounge it's probably okay. I still can't believe how horrific of an experience we had. Management also didn't offer any sort of compensation for messing up my wedding weekend kick off. That was rude and very unprofessional. read more

This place was amazing! The wait is pretty long without a reservation, so make sure you make a reservation. This is a great place for a date or a night out in the town with friends or family; there was a big crew there for a birthday party. The ambiance is great! They have a rooftop outdoor part that's perfect for nice weather. Now the food oh my goodness, good is underrated. I loved what I ordered which was just the crab meat and corn fritters but it was so delicious that I ordered some to go LOL! it could sit and eat a whole bucket of them things if you let me! I highly suggest to order that. The burger looked great too but I kept it light. I already have it in my mind for when I come back that I'll be ordering the burger and quite a few things lol. This is a place that I would like to visit each time I come. This is a great business and the staff were friendly and accommodated us in such an amazing way! A coworker & I decided to come here Friday after a long exhausting week at work for Happy Hour. We opted to stay inside as it was a bit windy. We were seated pretty quickly. We were there a good 15 minutes before the waiter came to take out our order, the drinks came right out we both got the orange crush. However it took quite some time for the food I ordered fries and wings the wings came out before the fries I was so I tried to wait a little bit cuz I like eating them together after a while I started eating my wings &when the fries finally did come out my wings were gone. I'm back a review of @16onthepark. One of my colleagues told me that their crab cakes sliders were amazing so I decided to check them out. I also got their brussel sprouts too. Honestly, the sliders were not that good. They were very dry, and they lacked flavor even with the garlic aioli they put on it. The brioche buns were over toasted too. At $14 I definitely can't recommend them. However, their brussel sprouts were very good! They are flash fried in a spicy soy glaze and they are only $5. They are some of the best brussel sprouts I ever had. As for service, it was extremely slow. It took My friends and I a very long time to get our food and it wasn't even crowded. We went at 8pm on a Wednesday. However, our waitress was very friendly, and she did her best given that they seemed short staffed at the time. Would I go back, maybe because It's really close to my job, and I want try some other things on their menu. read more

Came up the next night because...easy.Today at 5 pm the music up to club level. Buddy...there's a bunch of sick people staying in your hotel because it's two blocks away from Johns Hopkins they aren't feeling well and the last thing they want is pounding club level music. I measured it to make sure I wasn't being over sensitive in a 5 minute sampling the average was 100 dB max was 136 dB To put it into perspective: Music played at 85 decibels for prolonged periods of times can cause hearing damage, for instance, sound levels at some rock concerts can reach 110-120 A-weighted decibels, and at those levels, the maximum daily limit set by most standards and regulations can be reached in less than one minute of exposure. read more

Surprised to see a poor review only a week ago. The reviewer must have been someplace else, claiming " no steamed vegetables or healthy choices." Only a week out of surgery at JHH myself, I was cautious. Being in Baltimore, what else than crab Cakes. They came broiled, not fried, and very tasty, chock full of crab. It came with, guess what, steamed vegetables,( broccoli, carrot Julianne carrots and fingerling potatoes.) check the menu, lots of healthy choices, like quinoa and vegetables, salmon and local seafood. My partner had a tasty burger with shoestring potatoes. We always try the Smith Island Cake when it appears on the menu. It was moist and tasty. Keyon, our server was solicitous, accurate and prompt.
