L was in the area so I told him to go try this place out. Only had one review so I was a bit…read morehesitant...I guess this place is new since the cook didn't even recognize the items on their own menu and had to check what was in it...so of course L got annoyed cuz I chose a sandwich they didn't recognize. HTF should I know that the people who work there have no clue what's on the menu. Yeah I chose the weird Philly cheesesteak sandwich. It sounded much better on paper than in reality. It didn't taste like a real Philly cheesesteak sandwich. It had a lot of mushrooms in it but the gravy sauce tasted weird and it barely had any cheese. He also ordered a halal gyro over rice. Not sure which protein... chicken probably... I really didn't care for it. It didn't taste like anything you'd expect from a halal place. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh but the seasoning on the food was non-existent. Where are all the spices! Didn't taste cumin, coriander.. garlic, etc! So bland. No heat whatsoever from the sauces? It tasted more like creamy bbq sauce. Don't serve halal food for the sake of having variety on the menu. The texture of of the rice was a lil odd for me and it wasn't basmati rice. I'm giving it 3 stars cuz it really was just okay, if anything, I'm being a bit generous. I didn't feel like cooking lunch on a Friday but I could've easily made something tastier for less money.

I stopped by Steve's Deli after work cause I was crazing a good chop cheese. I saw one review where…read morethey stated they had a good one at this deli. There are no options by where I work and this was not too far away from fresh meadows where I live. I must say 5 out of 5. It was perfectly made and bread was lightly toasted and it hit the spot !!! I hope that next time I crave a chop cheese it will be just as good as it was that day.

Okay so the food isn't bad. I think my fave thing from here was the jerk chicken sandwich with the…read morepatty, Mac, and Coco bread. The chicken was well seasoned flavorful and really complimented the Coco bread. It was just that you can't really taste the patty or the Mac and cheese. It's like when u eat it you forget that they're even there unless a piece of Mac falls. The oxtail one well I wish there was just more oxtail and gravy to it. Reason for that is because I feel like you're not getting enough oxtail within a bit. You're probably getting the same amount of meat as your getting the Mac. Even still the Mac you're tasting a little more of. Problem with that is there's nun special about the Mac. It goes back to me saying the Mac and patty is co-exist. I will say this though I understand Oxtail is expensive so giving so much out of the meat costs. That's understandable. When you go in you'll meet some nice people in a little store. Real reason I'm giving them a 4 is because they have a beautiful family from what I seen and want people to keep trying their food. There are other options to get from like platters, fried Oreos, and other sandwiches. So I say go and explore your palate. They also have some exotic chips from other countries that I think you would like and ofc Caribbean drinks such as sorrel, ginger bear, and etc. Like I said try them out. An experience is better than no experience.

So I've been wanting to try the oh so popular Datz Deli for the longest after seeing them featured…read moreon a show on tv a couple years ago.. I finally was able to try them recently! I was not disappointed and didn't expect to be, as this is a "Guyanese Deli!" We don't play in the kitchen. I'm just saying!! I ordered THE JERK,(jerk chicken) w. Mac n cheese, chicken patty and coco bread. I was absolutely blown away by the incredible flavors. The jerk chicken was perfectly spiced, and succulent, while the mac n cheese was divinely cheesy (just how I like it) all nestled in the most delicious, slightly sweet and fluffy cocoa bread, topped with a rich, tasty gravy / sauce..a harmonious blend that was extremely gratifying to my taste buds!! This place truly delivers authentic Top Notch Guyanese / Caribbean fusion cuisine with a hint of soul food. Their reputation for the Oxtail / Jerk Chicken and patties with cocoa bread is well-deserved!! Datz's dishes are creative, bursting with flavor, and clearly made with passion, offering a genuine taste of the Caribbean. I'm so happy I finally got to try it and can't wait to try the OXTAIL DAT MAC!!
