The sushi here is great. A little heavy on the hot sauce on several rolls. You can get it without. The people are friendly and I love the variety. This is our favorite sushi restaurant in town. The rolls are typical of reno style, not so authentic but super yummy. We have gone for lunch three times now, and every time our food has been great. The sushi chefs aren't very interactive which is fine, since the food is good. I believe the people in Reno take for granted that all you can eat is not a common thing for sushi. And for that reason we really love this restaurant and the food we get for our money. The sushi chefs are all very professional and our favorite rolls include the "epic high" and "the whole nine yards." The ambiance inside is a little different, more of a modern take than a traditional sushi restaurant. Aside from that, we really like this place. We are glad to not have to drive all the way out to the original Tha Joint off of pyramid highway. We have been "2 Tha Joint" three times since the opening this fall, and will continue to be regulars. read more

you know I don't really believe in yelp but I just had such a terrible experience during my first (and probably my last) visit I decided to make one. First of all the management is terrible, nowhere to be found when I needed help. They messed up my order more than once, I would've understood if they were nice about it but the girls serving were somewhat rude. Maybe instead of having their servers bus and host and do everything they would be better off hiring someone to do those jobs so the customer service would be better. After having great experiences here we were very very disappointed with the service we received and have not returned since. We arrived at opening time and there were only two parties in besides us. Long story short, we ordered and still had not received anything 45 minutes later. We did not just sit and wait, we asked multiple servers to please check on our food and none of them ever came back to the table. The owner/manager was looking over frequently and knew our frustration and never once came over to address the situation. We ended up getting up to walk out and our food was ready, the owner looked angry with us and did not even apologized as we walked out. The Manager at this sushi joint is horrible!! She provoked me to argue with her and when my daughter told her that I was getting upset she refused to walk away. I was upset because they tried to charge me 18% gratuity and the menu clearly said 18% gratuity on a party of 8 or more. We only had 7 in our party. She said it changed because of covid and I said then it needs to say that in the menu that it is now on 6 or more people. I then told her a tip is earned and not expected and since we are not a party of 8 a $30 tip is not appropriate. We were sat at 2 tables across the restaurant from our party. We had 2 different waiters so a tip that big was not appropriate if we were all sitting together it would have been different. She then said she was going to call the police I have her my card and it declined so I'm got my daughters card. We were walking out and the waiter said Fuck That Bitch to me and the manager just stood there and watched him say that to me. It was sad to see a manager be so unprofessional and rude to her paying customer. She then told us we are never welcomed back. As far as all of us are concerned we will never go back because of the unprofessional service we received. I've had disagreements with employees but I've never had a Manager of a business want to fight with me as a customer. Very unprofessional I can not believe she is a manager of any business. Well, we have given you all the chances, but employees are more interested in each other's conversations, world cup, and unfortunately, there is a degree of ignoring people unless they speak Spanish. I'm fine with languages and diversity, not being ignored. Food is not enough of a draw to be ignored, has great potential... I'll go elsewhere for awhile. read more

What can I say......I am a fan! I happen to love the Joint!!! So trying out the second one is a no brainer. I feel like the ambiance is a bit different but same theme. Went on a Saturday right after they opened, hardly anyone in there yet, so yeah for us!! Keep em coming cause I can put down some Sushi people! My usual order-20 spicy mussels, 5 orders of yellowtail, 5 orders of Unagi, 5 orders of salmon with lemon slices and 5 orders of the red snapper all topped of with a salmon skin hand roll. What can I say, I like what I like. My hubby loves the spicy tuna, BLC, Tha Joint hand roll, sexy housewife (me, not the sushi, lol) Sassy tuna, Tha only and Whole Nine Yards. Littles enjoys a bowl of rice and the calamari rings. Not too big of a fan of long rolls, I don't care too much for mixing cream cheese, imitation crab or things that get in the way of how I personally love fish, the raw-er the better :) This is nice location to come to when running errands around town! I went to this location for the first time this week. It is located in a bit of a funky spot right around the corner from a gas station. I have been to Tha Joint in Sparks on several occasions and we decided to give it a try. We were very happy with how fresh the sushi was. We ordered a variety of items ,long rolls, hand rolls & nigiri. I think our favorite long roll was the OMG. Very light, fresh and just the right amount of spiciness. Our least favorite was the Summergazm. While I usually like the rolls which include fruit this one had just a little too much green apple and the other flavors kinda got lost. Upside down shrimp is always a favorite of mine and I thought their version was very well done. We also were very satisfied with the freshness of the hamachi & salmon nigiri. We sat at the bar for weekday lunch and the chefs were fast and friendly. AYCE lunch pricing is also very reasonable. I will say that I prefer the ambiance of the Sparks location. However, the food is defintiely just as good. Since this location is so close to work and home I will definitely be back for more! read more

When they opened 2 Tha Joint, my friends and I were excited when this place opened due to it's location. It's closer to us, so it's convenient. I really like going here and I love the taste of the food. The only con I can say about this place are the servers. Be prepared for your order and drinks to take a long time before they serve it to you. Even though your food is ready and sitting on top of the counter, it'll stay for atleast a good several minutes on a not so busy day. Also, you'll need patience because there would be times when they dont even give you the right item you ordered or completely forget it all together until you mention something. Servers could use some more training on customer service. read more

Best sushi ever I never liked sushi thanks to this place my boyfriend took me here I loved it

The guy, who I was told by the server was the owner, ruined my experience. His overall cocky attitude, lack of customer service skills, and lack of knowledge was noticed by many guests tonight when he was upset that someone with a disability showed up with a service animal. He asked for proof that the dog was a service animal yet when the guest provided documents he didn't even look at the documents. He then stood over their shoulders explaining that he was googling his rights. You should be informed and prepared for the situation before you confront the guest. Also everyone saw the way you treated them and it was disgusting to the point that we all wanted to leave. When we brought it up to your server she just kept laughing at us to the point where we asked her to stop. We had to state to her that we were not joking and it's not funny when someone with disabilities is treated poorly. Later on the owner was rehashing everything that went on with the guest with the service animal because he had kicked them out. He seemed so proud and bragging about how he handled it. Disgusting. The food quality was decent, except our Tako was served frozen to the point that it crunched. Also the over using of hot sauce. I love spicy but to our guest joining us that doesn't it would be nice to have more options for items without hot ingredients, and without having to custom order everything. Side note to the owner..bedazzled True Religion skinny jeans and a t-shirt aren't very professional and is a bad look when you are handling management duties with guest. I like the original Tha Joint much better than this one and I even had struggled liking the first one because of poor customer service. The first time I came here was because I heard they recently opened a second location so I brought my fiance and kids to try it out. The sushi was a little bland in my opinion. The second time I came in, I came in with a very large group. We were celebrating the seniors in our class were graduating. At first, it was okay, but as more started showing up and sushi tickets were getting sent out, the more and more the service team began to fall apart. We started getting sushi we didn't order MULTIPLE times. Then the server started arguing with us about it saying, "yes you did order this, it says so on the ticket." For me, I remembered what I put on my tickets and I had even not received some of the rolls I had ordered. I watched the servers and get really flustered and run around to each table to see where the sushi was supposed to go. Our group had even received a double order. I don't think it was the sushi chef's fault at all, it was the servers. This isn't the only time I've had poor service from Tha Joint. I think they just hire inexperienced servers. I think if I were to ever give them a chance again, I would sit at the bar. read more

However the wait staff is terrible, it took 15 minutes for them to get my drink order, they were playing around and cracking jokes with each other instead of paying attention to the customers. OMG! The service was awesome!!! 5 starts. Unfortunately the sushi was ok. The gentleman explained that the AYCE will have smaller sized sushi which I get it. The nigiri thought was a little on the micro size. I looked at the other patrons and their nigiri were really good looking pieces. Maybe they didn't have AYCE?
