Went here today for Father's Day and we were the very first table sat. We waited too long for our drink order to be taken. Then our waitress said "let me take the next tables drink order and I'll come back and get your food order" so we waited more. We then watched as our waitress took 2 tables drink orders and brought both tables their drinks before she returned to take our food order. Our waitress called another person who took the 2nd tables food order before ours was taken. This caused our food to come out after the second table that came in easily 15 min after we did. I know this is a country restaurant but our waitress moved slower than molasses. After she seemed to realize she had upset us (duh) she wished a happy Father's Day numerous times, especially when it was check time. It fell on my deaf ears and she is lucky my wife left the tip and not me. Our table also ordered 2 separate sides of bacon and the receipt reflected that an order was 3 strips. One order had 3 and the other had 2. Something isn't adding up. My wife had a side of fried green tomatoes, and while they were tasty they were sliced razor thin. The order probably had 1/3 of a small maybe 2" wide tomato. You really couldn't even make out the green tomato inside. The coating was flavorful and the ranch was on point. My easy poached eggs came out more in the medium+ range and were tiny as if half the egg white floated away in the poaching liquid. The chicken fried steak was fork tender but had no salt and was kind of bland without the addition of salt. On the other end the country gravy my wife had was so black pepper laden she couldn't eat much of it. I'd go back because the food was decent but I'd insist on a different server. Once again the folks at 2920 Roadhouse treated us with class and awesome service. This spot has to be the best in the area. It's an old remodeled home that is spectacular. Plenty of parking and beautiful landscaping . The price for two is incredible ($45) and the quality of food is second to none! I had the brisket meatloaf with awesome mashed potato and green beans. The mushroom gravy is so tasty (I ask them to load mine). My wife had the grilled cheese brisket sandwich (her fav). They have an awesome happy hour ($2 beers). You have to try this spot. This place was delicious! The chicken & waffles w/ the chorizo gravy was amazing! Super juicy chicken breasts with the perfect amount of flavorful coating. My husband had the Roadhouse Benedict, which was also very tasty topped with 2 perfectly fried eggs. And those tator tots (or mini hashbrowns, as they call them) were fantastic! The meatloaf (really smoky, dense meat) was different with dark mushroom gravy. Probably wouldn't order that again. The bread pudding & apple crumble was a delicious end to a delicious lunch. The service was excellent. Very nice Managers & waitstaff. Loved the decor & the backyard was great for my 5 year old to run around. It was Mother's Day weekend and I had made reservations over the phone for a table of 9 for Sunday about 2:30p. When we arrived on Sunday, at 2:15p the hostess had let me know that they were running behind a bit and that it wouldn't take long. About 2:45p, the gentleman who was in charge of the back of house and apparently the front of house finally came out of solve the problem. Once we were seated the waitress took her time to take our drinks and just didn't seemed concerned about keeping an eye on us. When we got our menus we discovered that it was their "brunch menu" not their full menu. Although disappointed we were ready to adapt to the choices we had between brunch and the lunch menu items. When the young lady finally came to us about 3:15p we were ready to give her our order, my son and my husband wanted something off the brunch menu that sounded pretty good while the rest of us wanted to try the lunch menu. The waitress proceeded to tell us brunch was over and all we had was the lunch portion to choose from. Which caused us to again rethink what we were going to have . We quickly ordered before she disappeared because I'm telling you she was not attentive. We got our appetizers and those were pretty good: brisket nachos, jalapeño chips and pickle fries could have been more on the plate) and the loaded fries "Super yummy!" I won't go through our entire order but I can tell you the food is worth waiting for and the restaurant is gorgeous inside and out. I give a thumbs up on the hostesses and the guy that was "running" the entire house. Just disappointed on how the waitress attentiveness kinda lacked. It was Mother's Day should have been a full menu or have at least had the hostess make it aware what menu was being used. Not everyone walking through the door are going to be regulars treat every customer like the just came there for the first time. Dining at the 2920 Roadhouse was a disappointing experience for several reasons. We'd wanted to visit this venue on several occasions in the past however in each instance it was always too late to dine there because they close so early (9:00pm each evening) and we are not "early bird" diners but rather the sort of people who like to have a late dinner. Finally, we had an opportunity to try the restaurant out arriving around 6:00PM on a Saturday evening. There was a 20 minute wait. We had a drink at the bar in the interim before there was a free table. The bartender was personable and humorous and the time went by quickly. As promised we were promptly seated and our server arrived at the table without much delay shortly thereafter. I had this allusion that the 2920 Roadhouse was going to be this funky, esoteric venue in the "middle of nowhere" so to speak. My vision of an eclectic venue was the complete opposite of the aesthetic that actually exists. The 2920 Roadhouse is far more stark, uniform and generic that I had anticipated. A building, which from the outside appears dated is anything but when he enter the venue. Instead of mood lighting that sets an intimate tone the lights are bright and the vibe has far more of a commercial feel that what I expected. All of the tables and chairs are identical; the ephemera on the walls is uninteresting and for all intents and purposes the venue, in my opinion, is devoid of any cool vibe or aura, which is such a shame because this is a restaurant that has so much potential that the owners have failed to realize. Nevertheless, we were already there and hungry hence we decided to stay and sample the restaurant's fare hoping we'd be pleasantly surprised. I ordered trout served on a wooden plank that came with a tiny serving of mashed potatoes and a similarly small portion of asparagus. I felt the portion size of my meal was scanty for the price charged ($16.00) and after finishing my meal was still hungry. Expecting a whole fish I got a paper thin filet. My girlfriend ordered quail as her entree ($32.00), which is excessively priced; we've ordered quail at several other restaurants in the area at a price point far less than thirty two dollars. I had a chance to sample the quail and it was tasty and cooked well. My meal did not come with a salad, which was included with the quail. The small salad was unremarkable; 2920 should seriously consider finding a way to build their dinner salads with more interesting offerings than some lettuce, a few tomatoes and some slaws of carrots. This is especially so for the prices they charge. For my way of thinking presentation is a really important facet of the dining experience and I feel that 2920 is missing the opportunity to provide a fine dining experience to its customers. Needless to say that our meals were rather ordinary. I am neutral when it comes to recommending the 2920 Roadhouse and in all likelihood I won't be going back because this venue is rather banal and lacks an aesthetic, which contributes to an uncommon dining experience, which is what I clamor for when choosing a restaurant where I can enjoy an extended dining experience and a good conversation with my companion without feeling rushed. read more

First of all this is a very nice restaurant with a good theme. The staff here is very polite and attentive. I think this place has potential but something needs to be done about the food. The "monkey bread" was terrible. It was very soggy and the taste wasn't there. I ordered an old fashion which came out very well I will say. The bartender did a great job. For my entree I ordered the chick fried chicken, I wasn't too impressed. It was very dry and bland, I only ate half of it because of how dry it was. I wasn't keen on the breading but that's just my personal opinion. I'm sure I'll return here and try something else to see if maybe it was just a bad night and then will update my review from there but I definitely expected more out of this place with the food seeing as how nice it is. read more

Came for lunch on a Saturday and we were the only ones there. We had a large room all to ourselves. The property is huge and beautiful. Tons of large oak trees and a large pond out back. The waitress said anyone is welcome to fish in it anytime as it is their private property. Our waitress was great and very informative about the property and food. We ordered from the lunch menu and had a 50% off coupon for wings on Yelp. The wings are huge and got about six-seven of them. The crawfish roll was fine, could have used more sauce/flavor. They are changing the menu and it should be done by now the waitress said. They have outdoor seating and upstairs as well. TV's outside and in the bar area. I was excited to finally try this place as a previous attempt was a no-go due to a concert event that had no tables available that evening. They seem to prefer reservations, so I called on a Monday to reserve a patio table for Saturday at 5. I've seen mixed reviews on this place but the outdoor space was enticing since we have a group of boys - hence requesting the patio. Our group arrives and we're told they can't seat us on the patio due to a lack of servers. ??? Yet we see families out there eating and continue to see other families taken out to the patio and seated after our arrival. So you have servers or do you not have servers?? We had four kids in our group and not a single kid menu was brought initially to our table until we requested it. The number of kids in our party being a detail I gave them when I made our reservation. Our waitress was nice but not fully aware of the menu. When I asked if the kid meals included drinks (we didn't have any kid menus at this point) she said no they're not. We get the kid menus later and it says under the price for the meals that drinks ARE included. Minor detail, but it's nice to have the correct answer from the start. Also, you can order a kid's chicken tender meal but it's not listed. I fretted for a good 5-10 min on what one of my kids was going to eat bc the other options weren't something he likes, until I asked the waitress if chicken was an option. Off menu, but it is. Now, the kid burger meal and the kid chicken tenders are well worth the price. The burgers were huge and the chicken plate had a good amount. It was almost more than mine could eat - which never happens with kid meals. Our other kid in the group had the kid shrimp scampi meal and it was sad looking in size comparison. Just three shrimp sitting on the plate next to some fries. I know shrimp costs more but the portion sizing was off. Adult meals....food was good and ample. Standard southern comfort type food options. A little overpriced for some things but overall tasty. Next menu update I would recommend changing the bbq baked beans to just bbq beans. Breakfast menu looked interesting and we might give this place another visit just for that. 2920 Roadhouse has a beautiful property, they just need to get the little details in order to make it less frustrating for customers. We even had a manager looking lady approach our table and ask if we were done eating so it could be cleared. We had barely ordered at this point and the table seats were empty bc the husbands took the kids outside while we waited. Four noisy boys waiting inside for food or take them out where they won't bother people? Again, we reserved a patio table for this reason. I don't know, they just weren't keeping good tabs on the tables and knowing what's going on. We came at 5 and it wasn't that busy but it was starting to be a steady stream of people around 6:30-7. So go early if you want less of a crowd. No idea how you manage to get a patio spot, luck of the draw I guess, even if you make a reservation for that very thing. read more

By far, the best thing about this place is the beautiful older house and the stately live oak trees that cover the property. The brunch menu is fairly extensive, but they were out of two different things we tried to order. The mimosas, though overpriced, came in traditional orange, pomegranate (tasted more like grenadine) and pineapple. Our server was kind and polite, but moved with the urgency of cold molasses. What a fun little place. Feels like a throwback to another time period, where cowboys would come after a hard days drive on the prairie. It's more upscale than your typical roadhouse, however, but the Cowboys still show up. Some live music was going on in back and seemed like a fun time. We are with the family and had good meals. Soooo.... My wife and I at lunch at 2920 Roadhouse today. The waitress recommended we choose from their lunch menu and not their dinner menu. There are about 5 or 6 options on their lunch menu. Nothing that sounded good to me. I decided to order the grilled chicken from their dinner menu and so did my wife. Before the chicken came out, they served us the little salad that comes with it. Nothing special. My wife asked if it would be possible to get a side of mixed vegetables. We were told this isn't possible. The chicken came out quickly. It was served on a plate, alone, with no garnish or sides. It was swimming in butter and oil. I ordered grilled chicken thinking it was a healthy choice. I had to ask for another plate to try to shed the excess fat. I peeled the skin off the filet and was left with 3 or 4 bites of actual edible chicken. The texture of the chicken seemed slightly chewy and undercooked. So 15 dollars for a piece of greasy undercooked chicken with no sides. My wife ordered the quinoa to try to satisfy her hunger. I just came home and ate a burrito. So 45 minutes and 45 dollars lighter, we had to go out in search of decent food elsewhere. I'm sure they do steak right. The other reviews here are fairly positive. Maybe a steak at dinner (when you are encouraged to use the dinner menu) is good. But grilled chicken at lunch was a huge disappointment. Lunch menu is terrible. Food incredibly overpriced. Guess they are trying to pay for the 20 acres the restaurant sits on, for some reason (might be more...). Brunch-focused review! Pros: The chicken and waffle was GREAT! We got the chicken on the side and both syrup and gravy on the side so we could try everything. The gravy was fantastic and good with the chicken but the chicken does come with a bit powdered sugar on top so if you want completely savory it wouldn't fit the bill. The syrup was great though and came out perfectly warmed! The cinnamon roll you can order on the side is only $4 and HUGE (literally larger than my face) so could easily be ordered on the side so everyone could have a little something sweet (see cons for additional note). The fresh fruit was also appropriately great (considering it's a small bowl for $6) and consisted of perfectly ripe and very fresh berries. They also give you a small Andes mint at the end which is always a plus from me. Cons: They have unsweetened tea but when asked didn't have simple syrup available to sweeten it, just sugar packets that never dissolve into iced tea. The cinnamon roll was pretty grainy (like the sugar hadn't melted or dissolved at all in the filling) and more sugary sweet rather than a fuller cinnamon spice flavor. Hollandaise on the traditional Benedict was bland but wasn't bad. This place would be a 4 for me in other places but for Cypress/Tomball it's definitely a 5! read more

Got seated and watched server's blow past us for 15 minutes, not one hello or "have ya'll been served". If you have seen the show Ramsay's kitchen nightmares this place would be a top contender. This was my family's first time here, we are local's to the Cypress area and wanted to try something new. We pulled out our yelp app and up pops this place looks fancy and has good ratings our kind of place right ? Wrong!!! Upon arriving the place looks very nice with ample parking and very nice looking grounds, there was a smoke flavor in the air coming from the kitchen area which before entering the establishment had me anxious to get in and start ordering there food. As we entered the establishment we were promptly greeted by a hostess and asked if we had reserved a table for 4, oh no ! I thought, really this place must be awesome and were not going to be able to eat here tonight, but after a brief internal discussion they promptly seated us in a back room. Right then the back room, it was upon sitting down and looking round it began to feel very awkward there was no music no tv's no atmosphere at all, almost felt like we had just sat down in a nursing home hall to dine with granny. The only noise was the clanking of forks on the plates and waitresses running around apologizing to the guests that the kitchen was backed up etc. Unfazed we ordered the TEXAS SIZED BACON WRAPPED SHRIMP $14.99 oh boy this is going to be awesome!!! The wife ordered the Grilled Salmon $20.99 I ordered the Road house country favorite Smoked meatloaf $14.99 my daughter ordered the fried catfish $14.99 and my youngest daughter just wanted chips $4.99. Right then lets see what this place has got. 20 minutes passes and by this time we notice things are not what they seem, there is a nervy atmosphere and a quiet whisper and when someone would walk through the doorway everyone would look in anticipation to see if it was there server coming to attend to them later we would find out why. Our appetizer finally arrives and we asked the server to bring us our silverware as we were seated without it. The appetizer was placed on the table and immediately we all looked at each other. WTF is that its supposed to be, Texas Sized bacon wrapped shrimp you know the kind you get at a good steakhouse. This thing looked like it had been fried then fried again oh and lets fry it some more until its about the half size of your pinky finger. It tasted very very very salty too, but we managed to eat it, we were very hungry at this point and put it down to the kitchen being backed up. I would like to add if you read my other reviews I usually take pictures but in this place the ambience was so bad and with the extra security cameras clearly visible and everyone looking at each others table the wife told me not too. On to the main course, well to be fair it looked ok from a presentation point oh and we asked again for our silverware and once again it took a few more minutes to arrive. I cut in to my road house favorite meatloaf or I tried this thing was tough. I tasted a piece of it and oh yeah there was a smoke flavor but I couldn't tell if it was from the smoke or the dumping of BBQ sauce over the meatloaf, then the wife asked me to try her salmon, oh no bad sign it was as hard as a rock. Both my girls took a bite then offered it me, dang it not one good meal. So I politely choffed my meal down and the wife explained to the waitress with some ease that the salmon was over cooked and the waitress did offer a replacement but we declined 0 out of 4 we highly doubted a 5th meal was going to be the one. Now time to pay we politely asked the waitress to comp the salmon and she said of course and I will get the manager to approve, no brainer right, Wrong ! we now ended up like all the people from when we arrived waiting and looking at THE DOOR. It took forever for the waitress to come back with approval I also asked If they would honor the $5 off $25 that was on yelp for checking in, the look on the poor girls face of having to go back and ask the manager was enough to tell me don't worry about it. Not one time did the owner come to the backroom to talk to guests or apologize and give us an explanation, the only time we saw him was when leaving walking around the bar and finally exiting he has this Poster in this very nice frame of them winning some food critic award back in early 2019 "EGO" !! Found this hidden gem looking on google maps for roads to ride my motorcycle and a place to eat. What a find!!! My new favorite restaurant right now and the menu is great with a lot of options. I got the smoked pulled pork tacos which is very good and a great balance of flavors. The beans it came with were very tasty albeit a little on the salty side so that can be toned down some but still really good. I'll be coming back many more times since I like the ride there and it's not too far anyways. read more

Not a great experience. Wanted a nice date with my husband but his steak was rare and so chewy he could hardly eat it. Paid 38 dollars for a steak that was just not good and undercooked. We did tell the waitress and she offered to cook it more but it would've just gotten more chewy. Also they make a practice of not bringing out rolls... We didn't even know they had rolls until we saw someone else getting them..Seems they want to sell you an Appetizer which is fine and we got one anyway but it seems weird to not even tell you they have rolls. When we left we told them about the steak and they were nice but there's just no way we'll ever go back. read more

The shrimp was actually pretty good but the meatloaf and especially the green beans were way TOO SALTY! Mashed potatoes crunchy, not done. Brussel sprouts were also under cooked. Steak needed seasoning. A little salt and pepper would have done wonders. No wine by the bottle, just by the glass. Overall we had a really great experience there was not a lot of people when we went. The complementary monkey bread was great! We ordered their smokehouse sampler which had different kinds of seasonal sausage and three dipping sauces. Husband really liked it. We ordered their special of the night which was the chicken Cordon Bleu it Came with rice pilaf and some green beans with sliced almonds the rice pilaf had really good flavor. The only reason why I gave it four stars instead of five their side salad need some work it was just cut up lettuce with some tomatoes on top and maybe a few more menu items to choose from. My wife and I both ordered catfish. These were some of the thinnest filets I've ever seen. Her's was blackened and mine country fried. They cooked both for at least 10 minutes until they turned to hardened dried out blanks. We had the fried jalapenos and pickles, and they were also fried way too long. First timers on a Friday afternoon around 3:30. Had a choice to sit inside or out but stayed inside. Only one other table was seated. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Enjoyed some drinks (happy hour!) and an appetizer (chips and green chili cheese). It's a cool old house that's been made into a restaurant. Up front when you walk in is a little "merchandise shop", host/hostess stand, bathrooms, staircase to upstairs. Seating is in back of building and it looked to be multiple "rooms" that had seating. Looked to be lots of outside seating. Our entrees were steak filets that were Cooked to medium perfection. Steaks were VERY tender and had just the right amount of seasoning. I had a side of corn, which was well cooked and buttery, and a side salad. My wife had the steak (6oz) and side salad and LOADED mashed potatoes. They looked and were awesome. Sides came with the steak. And, baked potatoes are not available until after 5pm, which disappointed my wife, until she saw the mashed potatoes! We went all in and shared a piece of banana bourbon cake, which also was excellent. That whole meal, drinks, appetizer, dessert, weighed in at $95. Plus tip. Maybe a little high, but worth it. First time there, steak my husband had was great and so was my cutlet. Ceasar salad dressing was a different recipe and they serve it loaded with dressing. Atmosphere was fantastic and so was the staff! We will be back - maybe consider expanding menu to include an Italian entree or two? read more

Myself and my wife and two friends decided we were going to try 2920 roadhouse we went there atmosphere is nice it's a unique location like the scenery service staff was extremely friendly the place was clean Now to the negatives my food tasted like nothing but salt I got the chicken fried steak corn and mashed potatoes I swear to goodness it tasted like nothing but salt it was horrific my wife got the chicken sandwich it was a nice portion again salty then our friend she got the grilled cheese brisket sandwich came with coleslaw there was no flavor to it all no taste it was bland so they Musta used all the salt and everybody others items and none on her's and the third was there smoked meatloaf it was interesting it had a good but again a lot of salt my attitude towards that is it's easier for a customer to add salt then the chef to over salt everything and you could've used other seasonings other than salt for flavor just because the chef like salt does it mean everybody else does The location and the atmosphere the people were great but the food is expensive especially when you can't eat it because it's so salty we may try again and I may update my review but at this point read more
