BBQ Pork Char Siu doesn't get much better than this! A must try

I've been wanting to try this spot of for awhile now, I just don't find myself in the Bridgeport area that often. So you can imagine my elation when I learned of their new Avondale location on Milwaukee. We gave it a try last night. At this moment it' is just a carry out spot connected to the Avondale Music Hall. We ordered through their website, but they also have a kiosk to order for walk in. We ordered several items. The star of the show was the bbq pork. I could eat that everyday without hesitation. The crab ragoons and fried rice were also really solid choices. My wife said the chicken in her combo meal was tasty and fried to perfection. That makes me want to return to try their chicken sandwich. Overall this is a solid spot that you should try if you're looking for a unique take on takeout.

Got the Spicy Sandwich, Salt & Pepper along with an order of dumplings for Pick up, every item was perfectly seasoned and crispy as anything I've had. The Curly fries also are a sleeper for how well seasoned and fried they came out Of the bag.

Both my friend and I were really excited about this place because we'd seen good reviews and whatnot, but honestly we were really disappointed. The food wasn't bad, but it was pretty mid/mediocre. If you want good fried chicken, you could probably go to Harold's or other chicken shops across the city (it is Chicago) and if you want good salt and pepper chicken or anything else, I would go to good Canto places in Chinatown. I got the lemon pepper chicken and bbq pork half and half situation. I've had delicious lemon pepper fried chicken but honestly it was a bit whatever. I've had better bbq pork (again go to Chinatown). My friend got the salt and pepper chicken and we both agreed both of our food could be better fried and seasoned. But definitely better seasoned. I saw some folks complain the food was a bit bland but I wanted to give this place a chance and it just did not live up at all. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also this doesn't factor into the rating (I only rate on food unless the service is hateful, which it definitely wasn't here), but it is so strange for this place to be in a Molly's cupcakes lol.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe they are going for is school classroom complete with a row of lockers against the wall and a cordoned-off bathroom that you need to ask for permission to access. Finally made it down here after patiently waiting for them to officially establish themselves inside Mollys Cupcakes. It's still essentially a take out place but you should be able to find a table and dine in once you pickup your order. I ordered their BBQ Pork Char Siu and their Fried Chicken Fried Rice. Both dishes tasted great. The chicken fried rice was very large and very filling. The fried rice had amazing flavor and it had plenty of fried chicken. The BBQ pork was really good as well. The pork was tender and the sauce was very sweet, but flavorful. Both items were fairly priced, I just wish the bbq pork came with some steamed white rice. They don't even offer some on their website for me to order which was a bummer. Overall I was very satisfied and wouldn't mind returning. My son really liked it and I wouldn't mind trying other items on their menu.

I wish 3.5 stars was an option. I think I set expectations a bit high after they were constantly sold out in their shared kitchen space and now that they've moved they're at least slightly more accessible. But still impossible to order delivery for dinner so finally ordered for lunch. I got the hot chicken sandwich. It was great, a but of a unique twist on a classic nashville hot. The seasoning and spice was great - spicy with a ton of flavor and not painfully spicy (coming from someone who loves the heat). Also just a bit of sauce on the buns, but nothing to overpower or distract from the sandwich. This was great But I also got some salt n pepper chicken which was not great. Two pieces of "chicken" were actually just breading. I don't know how that happens but for something that wasn't a ton of chicken to begin with, for two pieces to be breading is really not worth it. I ordered the bbq fried rice for an up charge but ended up with just normal fried rice and have to say it was pretty OK. Definitely not good, had some chunks of rice stuck together, didn't have any distinct flavor. Fortunately I ordered some chinese bbq sauce too and had to use that to save the chicken and rice. But that chinese bbq was $1.50 for a tiny little container, the sort of size you'd get for free from most restaurants. And While the nashville hot sandwich was awesome, the price for everything wasn't.

Have been wanting to try this spot since it opened its ghost kitchen in the South Loop, and twas a great "treat yo' self" meal over the weekend. It's located within the same building space as Molly's Cupcakes, and you can either walk-in and order via QR code or order online beforehand (which i would recommend doing). Now the menu is fairly small, with a few main entrees and accompanying sides. I got the salt & pepper chicken meal which comes with veggie fried rice. The chicken itself was perfectly crisp & juicy, though was a tad bit too salty for my taste. The fried rice was decent, but wish it had more veggies/ a bit more flavor overall. I will say the portions are large, and i was very full after the meal I would say check it out; will go back and try the other menu items they have.

Amazing. Delicious. Incredible. I ordered their salt and pepper chicken sandwich yesterday and OMG! I was in heaven. It was so Delicious! And not to mention - their fries are TO DIE FOR. This is a great addition to the neighborhood. Please never leave us. I ordered ahead online after my daughter and I spent the morning at the library. So this is essentially a ghost kitchen operated out of a Mollys Cupcakes. I got there and had to scan a QR code to order thru the menu. With that I would recommend scheduling a time to pick up and eat at the Mollys. It took maybe 12 minutes. The sandwhich was MASSIVE. I had a hard time getting my mouth around it to bite. You bite down and the crisp, flaky, and perfectly seasoned chicken thigh burst into your mouth. It is one of the best first bites I've ever experienced. The sandwhich was $12 or so and came with fries. The fries were crinkle cut but extra crispy without getting burnt (I assume corn startch?) but made for the best crinkle cut fry I think I've ever had. In addition the owner (manager?) of 3LP came by to see how I was enjoying it which was a really nice touch. This chicken sandwich is frankly the best in the city and possibly the country. This felt like the beginnings of like Small Cheval or a really good fast food place. The portions are still sizeable and the quality is still high. It's frankly a rare treat and I feel fortunate that Chicago has a place like this. Run do not walk to 3LP

This place is so hyped up on every social media channel from TikTok to Instagram, and I was happy to finally try it! It's a takeout-only Chinese-American restaurant specializing in their BBQ pork and fried chicken offerings. You can place your order for 30 minute pick-up time slots starting at 9:30pm the night before. Based on my experience, though the food was good and the pickup was seamless, I do think it was overall a bit underwhelming and overhyped. My friend and I shared fries and crab rangoons. I got the BBQ chicken sandwich and my friend got the Lemon Pepper Chicken & BBQ Pork combo. The fries were really good: they were crispy and were flavored with a unique and distinctly umami seasoning. The crab rangoons were also great: very crispy exterior paired with an exceptionally creamy cream cheese-y interior. Definitely one of the best crab rangoons I've had. The BBQ chicken sandwich was good, but really messy to eat and the bread was pretty smushed. The chicken was well-fried though, and the BBQ sauce-- though unevenly and kind of scantily applied-- was really delicious and flavorful. The chicken & BBQ pork combo plate was kind of skimpy-- based on the photo on the order form, we expected there to be more meat in it, but there were only a few small pieces of each, which was disappointing. The BBQ pork was very flavorful and tender though, and the chicken had a good fry and flavor profile. The main disappointment was that there were NO utensils or napkins provided with the food, which my friend and I didn't realize until we had already walked to a nearby park to eat the food... making for a pretty messy meal. So if you plan to eat outside, definitely remember to bring your own napkins and utensils. The prices are a bit expensive too-- with tip, tax, and processing fees, it ended up being ~$32 each. The menu is also not good for vegetarians unfortunately-- hoping they can add some BBQ / fried vegetarian options in the future! -- Price (relative to peers): 3.5/5 Food: 4.5/5 Ambience: N/A Service: 5/5 (quick and easy pickup) Overall Value: 4/5

Some guy on Chicago food Reddit (r/chicagofood) tried 125 fried chicken sandwiches in the Chicago area and named 3 Little Pigs as his #1 pick. Obviously, I had to give it a shot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]3LP is a small kiosk located inside of a Molly's Cupcakes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They've got a flyer out front on the door, and if you order online like I did, just tell the employees and they'll grab the right order for you. As of 5/17/24, they offer 2 types of chicken sandwich - the salt and pepper, and the hot and spicy. I opted for the salt and pepper this time, but I'd love to try the hot and spicy next time. One order gets you the sandwich and a nice side of curly fries (superior fry IMO). The S&P is a huge piece of chicken, fried and crispy, with additional salt and pepper on top. It's crunchy and crispy without being hard, and contrasts well with the soft bun. In addition to the salt, there's a sweet sauce that I think is condensed milk based as well as pickled jalapeños - altogether a very satisfying bite. I would have preferred more pickled jalapeños or maybe regular pickles to cut the rich chicken a bit more, but still very, very good! Whenever I'm back in Chicago, I'd love to try the hot and spicy - that looks even better than the S&P.

I was really excited to try this place after hearing about their Uncle Roger approved fried rice! We got the salt and pepper chicken sandwich and the chicken and bbq pork combo box as well as some crab rangoon. The chicken sandwich was juicy and crispy I really enjoyed it but it does lacked a bit of flavor. The bbq pork was saucy and on the sweeter side. Overall the food reminded me of Americanized Chinese food. It was an interesting take, but I personally enjoyed the chicken sandwich more than the fried rice combo box. They don't have a store front yet and it was a ghost kitchen. You order online and pick up from Mollys cupcake.

I don't get the hype. And I feel like I should be ashamed to say that because I really do want to support small businesses and Asian businesses but the food was a no for me. At first sight, the char sui looked good. I was excited to bite into a piece only to be let down. The texture is that of overcooked chicken breast. Char sui is supposed to be flavorful and juicy! But this was neither and I'm sad to report that. The fried rice (which they give you A LOT of!) is good, but not great. The texture of the rice was perfect but all the veggies were so over cooked and mushy. Debating if I would want to give them a second try since they're pricey for Chinese food.

Not sure about all the hype. It is decent food but I guess my expectation was too high. Interesting pick up experience. Didn't realize it's a pick up location for many different restaurants. The chicken sandwich is pretty good. Still crispy even the food was prepared 30 minutes ago. Good flavor. The down side is too much salt. At some parts I feel like I was eating a whole spoon of salt. Crab Rangoon is not crispy anymore when I had it. Gets too chewy and tough. Would not recommend if you can't pick it up the minute it's ready. BBQ pork is decent chasiu. A bit too sweet but that's normally how it is. Fried rice is similar with the BBQ pork. A bit too sweet for me. Overall the price is a bit high for the quality. Will not come back but good to try.

Where to start, hands down the best salt and pepper chicken I've ever had in my life. From the flavors to how crispy the chicken is nothing can top it. The rice was a surprisingly good, rice is either really greasy or dry and bland and this was neither. Flavor for days and veggies were cooked perfect. Orange chicken was out of this world! Didn't think I would find one of the best burgers at 3LP, but I sure did. Burger was super cheesy and good textures from the cucumbers. Service was fast and it helps to browse the menu at the ordering station before selecting your order. Curly fries are truly chef's kiss with each sandwich. The burger did not feel as heavy as you think it would. All the sauces combined cuts the richness of the burger. 10/10 would devour this burger again. read more

We would confidently reorder each item again. Great flavor on each item from all the way from the pork to the simple fried rice. I came here because someone of Reddit tried hundreds of Friday chicken sandwiches and rated this one to be the best. The classic fried chicken sandwich was definitely the best dish I ordered. My friend liked the char siu dish best. And then we also ordered the three little pigs fried rice which was pretty salty imo but I don't mind saltier foods. You definitely need a bottle of water near by. I don't think I'd come back again but would recommend others to try this place at least once. It is a little on the pricier side. It's also a bit hard to find since it's inside a cupcake shop!! read more

Great little takeout Chinese food spot in the south loop. Char siu was excellent as was the house special fried rice and rangoons.... Only nitpicks would be the portion size for the char siu was kinda small and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the location of it attached to the side of a cupcake store like a lamprey.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]... The Shrimp fried rice was so fresh it was the best I've honestly ever had. All of the chicken dishes have extremely crispy and juicy chicken, that always packs a flavorful punch. Henry is an absolute professional who not only ensures that all of his guests are taken care of while in his establishment, but goes out of his way to create meaningful relationships with said guests. Every item I have tried, has seemed to be a little tastier than the one before; I can hardly wait for my next visit! I stopped in earlier today to try the OG Fat Head Henry Burger, and it honestly blew me away. The flavors from the multiple sauces, crunchy texture of the cucumbers tossed in chili oil, and the juicy patties were so good! The brioche bun was fresh and perfectly toasted, too. Henry himself is very friendly and goes into detail about his food. I'll definitely be back to try the orange chicken! read more

I ordered combination fried rice through a home delivery site, Dwell Social, and it was a huge disappointment. In four cups of rice I found three tiny pieces of meat and seven small shrimp - nothing like the order form or photo promised. Bland rice, with many clumps of unfried white rice. I got the salt and pepper chicken with bbq pork and fried rice. The fried rice was amazing and the flavor coated each grain of rice. However, the chicken was unevenly seasoned with bites of good flavor but mostly bites of bland and dry chicken. The bbq pork had great flavor on the outside, but the chunks of pork were too big and the flavor couldn't properly penetrate the meat. The owner was super friendly and was outside talking to customers. My meal was likely worse than average because my order wasn't called out at the window. The food had a lot of potential, so I definitely see myself coming back. read more

FYI **Not a sit down location. You order ahead for pickup or to have it delivered.** Mmmm can't say enough but we Loved the sweet and sour chicken, the hot honey spicy chicken. Pretty much any chicken. The chicken was meaty and so crunchy. It was as if it wasn't even delivered on how fresh and crunchy it still was when we got it. The rice was good as well. Crab Rangoon was meh not the best but not bad. It was probably that batch that had too much cream cheese. The ribs seemed a little dry and not much meat on it. But we are defiantly ordering again to try new things and give some of the others a second try. Definitely recommend to try. read more

Had high hopes after watching the YouTube review, even though the review was when they were in Logan Square, not South Loop (inside a cupcake shop). Severely disappointed; bbq char sui was overcooked with 1/3rd being too charred to eat and the rest was dry with half the sauce shown in the pics. Also the pineapple chicken was dry, as was the fried rice (which tasted just like Trader Joe's frozen brand, sold across the street--even had texture like it used to be frozen). For $35 bucks (also got the rangoon which was quite good and crispy hence the 2 stars) we didn't finish it, already made it back home and another bout with rush hour wasn't worth it going in to complain (plus you never ever want a bad situation with someone who handles your food out of your sight). I get it that people have had great experiences here. Eating out is just too expensive for subpar. Sadly we'll be driving past here and will hit up the more consistent Chinatown next time. This had been on my list to try after discovering them on insta a couple months ago. They are takeout only. I'd describe them as Chinese-American food and everything was really tasty! I loved the bbq pork fried rice and the crab Rangoon is the best I've ever had. Definitely will order again when im craving American-style Chinese food. read more

Finally got around to trying 3LP and it lived up to all expectations. Both the fried rice and pork were incredible and prepared to perfection. 3LP is easily now a top favorite Chicago restaurant in our household!! Can't wait to go back! Also, loved the pig drawings on the to-go bags!! read more

I spent quite a bit of money on our delivery order and was really disappointed with the quality. Char Siu was burnt and extremely dry. We couldn't finish more than two pieces. Also, the bbq sauce has an interesting taste, not like your typical char siu sauce. Not sure how I feel about it. The fried rice had pieces of char siu that were so badly burnt they were black like coal. Maybe it was a bad day but I swear it was terrible like every piece of pork was burnt crispy. Crab rangoons were mostly cream cheese. I couldn't believe it so I opened one up and it was like 95% cream cheese, 3% crab and 2% scallions. Shocking. Lastly, we ordered a salt and pepper rice plate and the rice was uncooked and hard. This might have been ok if our fried rice wasn't flecked with badly burnt char siu but we were left with two rices that were inedible. At least the salt and pepper chicken was good. Nicely seasoned and good sized pieces. All said, most of our takeout was bad and I'm truly sad I didn't get the 5 star experience so many others rave about. This experience was so jarring I don't know if I could return. I would caution others to maybe not risk the delivery and eat in store. read more

I've been a fan of the Henry and the dishes that he creates since trying 3littlepigs out in Humboldt park a couple years ago (when you had to place the order the day before). I'm addicted to the 3LP fried rice and bbq pork. I've had the orange chicken and the chicken sandwich too; all of which are next level. IMO these other Chinese spots in the city can't even come close to the flavor and quality of food that 3 Little Pigs is pumping out of which ever kitchen they are serving from. Ambiance and location has changed frequently, but I'm not mad about it because it's cool seeing the company and reputation grow. Henry seems to be a real one, and he really looked out for me when he was handing out free food to the community during his last day in River North. One of my biggest gripes with Xian and so many of the other Chinese spots in my area is that they are very inconsistent, and getting pricier than ever. This is not the case with 3LittlePigs as their food is consistently delicious and is reasonably priced for flavor, freshness, and portion size. 3 Little Pigs puts passion in all of their dishes, and because of that they get 5 stars and nothing but the best wishes! I'm not sure what took me so long to try this place but better late than never! Keep in mind that preorders are available starting at 10pm on Thursdays. Preorders sell out quick so make sure you set an alarm. The 3LP fried rice has this indescribable and flavorful taste. The sauce from the bbq pork gives the rice it's pink color and the portion is great. Could've sworn I was wrapped up in a blanket of comfort. Felt like it was never ending especially between 2 people. I am a big fan of crab rangoons. These crab rangoons were super creamy and had some sweetness. I made the mistake of getting a half order instead of a full and that's my only regret lol. Now, the bbq pork. Compared to your typical bbq pork, the sweetness is still there but it also has some bbq/smoky notes to it. Also very tender. I recommend getting 1 order per person because you will NOT want to share. Do not sleep on 3 Little Pigs! I'm glad I finally had the chance to try them out and I know I'm going to be a regular customer. Can't wait to eat my way through the entire menu! read more

$15 for a chicken sandwich, $15 for a fried rice, $15 for rice with meat. It's overpriced but I guess that's how the prices are in the city. I don't get what all the hype is, it's all the Instagram marketing. There are better Chinese food options and chicken sandwiches for cheaper. If you work/live in the area, it's an option for a lunch takeout. Definitely not worth driving to if you're not. read more

Ordered barbecue pork and orange chicken combo. The pork was burnt, and the chicken looked weird and dried out, no sauce just a tiny piece of orange. The fried rice was also dry and overall, the food was tasteless. Very disappointing because I was looking forward to it based on the picture they showed. read more

Incredible comfort food. Got this for takeout sunday evening after a long night out Saturday. Pairing fried chicken with fried rice is truly a match made in heaven. This meal brought me back to life. Another aspect I loved was that the owner reached out after to make sure everything was good. I found that very unique, and it brought the experience to another level. I went to this place about a month ago. I think of going there before however as the place was a kitchen with no seating I did not have the convenience to go. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However now the place is located at Molly' Cupcake which have a nice atmosphere and also free water as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Me and my friend though it was ordering through counter but it was in fact order through website which is easy for me. I ordered the mixed fried rice and fried chicken the total is about $30 but I would give this a pass as there is not enough place sell this kind of food in the Midwest area. 4 stars for the food, 2 stars for the pickup experience. Food: - Salt and pepper chicken sandwich was the highlight. Crispy chicken, tender on the inside, mayo sauce great complement. One of the top fried chicken sandwiches I've had. - The hyped char siu pork wasn't amazing - meat was oddly fibrous and tougher than expected. I prefer the traditional char siu texture. - Fried rice was OK, nothing special. One touch above Panda Express, one touch below homemade fried rice. Pickup: 3LP is in a ghost kitchen at Humboldt Park Eatery, which makes pickup a frustrating experience. Door was locked, front desk lady was absent, order was 20 minutes late. They don't answer their phone and the way to contact them is, oddly, chat or Instagram. Summary: promising but not perfect food. The food was beyond what the reviews and visual posts hint at and believe me it hints at this food being exquisite . But brother it was beyond that , this food is fuckin divine! This food is best saved for the gods and I mere mortal am glad that I even got a glimpse of what heaven tastes like . You have yourself a winning product and brand! Can't wait to try it again. Beyond the best Chinese food that I've had but in general some of the best food that I've ever tried and believe me I can eat ! PS the spicy salt and pepper chicken sandwich is the best spicy chicken sandwich I've had in my life . The food is really good. Not your traditional Chinese food but very delicious as they have their own spin. I've been 3 little pigs since Henry started his orders through Instagram and pickup was near Connies pizza. I love traditional Chinese food but growing up as a second generation Chinese American with my dad owning a Chinese restaurant catered to Americans, that food has special place in my heart. Their spin on Chinese char siu and ribs (no longer available) are really good. The combo char siu, orange chicken, and egg fried rice is my favorite order now. Also, 3LP fried rice is super good, who doesn't love spam. They share with Mollys now, which is dangerous because I love their cupcakes too (hello crème brûlée). 2 for one special these days. So glad he's in south loop and couple minutes away rather than previous location. read more

We also invented the first-ever “salt and pepper chicken sandwich” to go with our original “sweet and sour chicken sandwich.” We are also ranked for top 3 chicken sandwiches in Chicago. Another signature dish is our 3lp fried rice, unique in its pinkish-reddish color from its blend of saucy bbq pork, spam, and Chinese sausage. We also do build your own noodles and fried rice with endless ingredients and combinations. Eat what you like!

Established in 2020.

Starting as a pop-up and virtual restaurant, we have decided to open our first location in a shared kitchen focusing on carry-out and delivery. We were made popular for our unique bbq pork (sold out for 2 months at one point) and our signature red saucy fried rice. After that we focused on trying to create the best crab rangoon by only using the best cream cheese and ingredients available. Most recently, our focus turned to chicken sandwiches (salt and pepper chicken / sweet and sour). Now we have it all in one place with additions coming!

I showed her the 2 plates- 1 plate with half of the solid white fat, and the other plate with chewed up fat pieces. Instead of apologizing and bringing over a new order, she said "sometimes the pigs we get are very fatty". So I replied something like "sure I get that, but you can't serve this to customers" and " can you please bring us a new order of actual pork and not just a plate of fat"??? and she then looks down at both plates and says "you already ate it so we can't do anything. I tell her that, no, I didn't eat anything- you can see a plate with chewed up and spit out fat, but she literally WALKS AWAY. So then of course we wait for her to bring a new order over, but that never happens. And we're loyal customers for many many years, and she knows us. This extreme lack of care for your longtime customers is nauseating. Like I said, we've put up with it for years because we love the food (as well as putting up with the many health code violations over the years), but after this huge fuck you from the owner over a few bucks worth of pork? We're done. And our friends are done. This rude pathetic refusal to admit that you're serving inedible food and take care of your loyal customers with a few dollars in pork will now cost you THOUSANDS of dollars every year, because we have now told 20 of our friends to stop going, and they all agreed with us. A few dishes, like the Duck Fried Rice, Pork Belly, and Beef Noodle Soup, were actually pretty solid. But the rest of the night was just so frustrating that I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The Jiaozi were the first big letdown. The menu said they were beef short rib and bone marrow, but they didn't taste like that at all. The filling was just super mushy and the flavor was just weird. The manager and the food runner were nice when we mentioned it, but our actual server was a disaster. When we tried the Goat Noodles, all we could taste was cumin. It was so overwhelming that it covered up everything else. We couldn't even tell if there was actually any goat shoulder in there. When we told our waiter, she couldn't care less. She got totally defensive, wouldn't even listen to us, and just said, "Oh, I told you when you ordered that the dish is cumin forward" and walked away. It got worse when the bill came. She was holding on to the payment machine so hard and almost yanked it right out of my friend's hand. She was staring at it to see what we were tipping. It was so awkward and incredibly rude. No thank you, no nothing. She just grabbed it and left. The place has potential, but they really need to fix the food and retrain the staff. A cool vibe doesn't make up for bad food and awful service.

All the more better to savor all intricate dishes from start to finish. Like the name, The Purple Pig, their specialty is pork dishes so majority of our orders were this. Daily special of the bone marrow bacon jam toast - glazed, slippery off the bone, savory and sweet. Always love a good bone marrow dish to get the sweetness off it. This was so good that there were bits of the marrow and jam left stuck to the bone, I took a piece of the toast and scooped the bone dry. Nothing left for anyone to attack this. Non pork dishes were the Mushroom 3 ways and Spanish octopus. Mushroom dish was savory with all the coated sauces elevating this. Spanish octopus was kicked lightly and easily can bite in to enjoy the tender and charred portions. But the award went to my main course - the braised pork shoulder with saffron, apricots and Swiss chard. Aside from the rippable pork meat when dining on it, the sauces fused together on this dish elevated it and had everyone coming back for more. I needed an official Chicago culinary experience and found it at The Purple Pig without a doubt.

Every single part of the meal was outstanding. The pulled pork was delicious on its own, but I also loved the sweet barbecue sauce. The cornbread was, without exaggeration, the best I've ever had!! It was moist, flavorful, and served with absolutely incredible butter. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and one of the best I've ever had as well. Even the sweet tea was perfect: actually sweet without being overpowering or having that bitter, earthy aftertaste that some sweet teas have. I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I came back the next night and tried the brisket. It was sooooo good too. It was tender, smoky, juicy, and packed with flavor. At that point I knew the first meal wasn't a fluke. It's not inexpensive, but the portions are generous, and I felt the quality more than justified the price. I was there by myself because I'm traveling for work and actually enjoyed the communal tables. They made the atmosphere feel welcoming and a little less lonely than sitting by myself. The staff was excellent, too. The gentleman with the glasses at the meat counter was friendly, funny, and made the experience even more enjoyable. He even threw in a complimentary rib, which was such a nice surprise and a great example of the hospitality here. One thing to know before you go: the line can get long, but don't let that scare you away, it moves efficiently, and the food is absolutely worth the wait. Green Street Smoked Meats lived up to every bit of the hype. Henry makes damn excellent food that not only flicks your nostalgia bean but also brings whole new dimensions to dishes you think you've tasted in every way possible. Truly memorable fried chicken, where each piece is shatter crisp, juicy and tender throughout, and seasoned perfectly. Then you get the same levels of love and depth of flavor with the bbq, another time-consuming, easy-to-botch cooking style that Henry nails. Get every sauce he offers too. And don't snooze on the sides. He generously made a combo lo mein for us with all the ingredients in both the chicken and veggie versions (and Henry gave us an extra serving he had left over after making it).
