33 Carpenters Construction is NOT a company that keeps their word. They left me a horrible mess of nails and debris. They also caused severe property damage when they did my roof and gutters. I had to have them come back just 6 months later to repair shingles and multiple times afterwards for more roof and gutter repairs. I was originally told my damages would be compensated for and to send pictures and receipts, which I did. They never said anything when I deducted from my payment. Now almost 6 years later, they refuse to compensate me, demanded full payment, (threatened me with lawyers and collections), and they're refusing to do yet another repair that I've been asking for since February. In addition, I never received a warranty for my roof and now they're refusing that as well! Overall, this is definitely a company I'd stay away from. I have a few neighbors that used different companies for their roofs and gutters (same storm damage) and they've had no problems or issues. read more

The representative approached me, and asked if I had any hail damage to my roof. He showed me pics of larger than golf ball size hail from a storm 4 weeks earlier. The roof was inspected and damaged was found to the roof and gutters. A check from the insurance company was received May 14, 2018. Now comes the first week of September 2018, the roof is replaced. After they finish, we noticed two dark areas on the roof. 33 Carpenters Construction said the dark areas could be seen in the photos taken. The next day I came home and noticed a white spot on the seal of the garage door. I found the spot to be white paint where someone had tried to cover up scratches on the garage door. Also found gouges farther up the door. 33 Carpenters Construction was called, he came to investigate. In the meantime, the gutters are hanging to the roof by a thread. The roofers loosened the to do their job and left them for the gutter guy. After waiting a couple of weeks, I called and asked when the gutter guy was coming. Waiting a couple of weeks and two trips from an independent gutter company the gutters were complete. Back to the garage door, 33 Carpenters Construction called with information for me to call a garage door company to schedule a replacement garage door. Garage door was replaced. Warranty claim was filed with shingle company by 33 Carpenters Construction in November 2018, the shingle company denied the claim in March 2019 due to lack of information. On January 31, 2020 I received a bill and a letter from 33 Carpenters Construction. The letter stated that if the bill was not paid within 7 days a collection process would be started. I called the home office of 33 Carpenters Construction and asked about defects that still needed fixed. The collections were stopped and I was told a 'Quality Representative' would contact me. In late June 2020 I received a nasty email from 33 Carpenters Construction. The email stated that numerous attempts were made to contact me with letters, phone calls, and emails. All I received were status emails from the shingle company which said 'No response was necessary.' After I explained my side of the story things calmed down, I was told the warranty claim would need to be refiled. On July 24, 2020 33 Carpenters Construction knocked on my door stating he was here to get shingle samples off my roof to send to shingle company for the warranty. He also stated he did not have shingles to put back on. I had shingles left over from the earlier replacement. I also gave him the addition information needed for the claim. The claim was filed by 33 Carpenters Construction and approved by the shingle company in November 2020. In January 2021 I received a phone call from a 33 Carpenters Construction stating they heard the shingle company had approved the claim and sent me a voucher for materials and a check for the labor. They wanted to scheduled another roof replacement. I explained to the representative that the after 2 years roof had 'weathered well' and I tried to make a deal by trading the voucher and check for a receipt marked 'Paid in Full'. They said they needed to talk to upper management. It is now September 2023, 2 1/2 years later I contacted 33 Carpenters Construction to inquire about our situation. A few days later I received an email with invoice for the balance due for the roof replacement in 2018. I replied and asked about the deal, a couple of days later I received an email stating I owed them for the roof replacement and nothing else mattered. We began to work with 33, (but never completed the process of actually hiring 33 Carpenters) and Mykyta. We started the process on August 24 and after going back and forth and then this company disappearing right up to September 27th we decided to look elsewhere. At first Mykyta was great and attentive to our requests via email and text. But after we got a quote from our Insurance Agent, that is when things fell apart. Our Claims Adjuster said it wouldn't be covered fully and gave us a check (after our deductible was paid, we got a check for less than $400). Our Insurance Agent warned us to look elsewhere, but didn't say why or mention he read bad any reviews on this Co. We thought, "well, he hasn't dealt with Mykyta." And we have so we kept moving forward with 33. He came out to inspect the roof. Actually came out 3x which included meeting up with our Claims Guy. But he wouldn't give us an estimate until our Agent came to evaluate the roof or give us a sample of a shingle. We had a shingle on hand so we gave it to him. He then said he needed to find out if the shingle was available. We found out an equivalent was available, but still no quote from Mykyta. We can only surmise that he only works with companies that will grant 100% coverage. Not sure why that is but seemed fishy to us. At any rate, we kept pestering him for a quote. We repeatedly told Mykyta that we would use 33 regardless if our Insurance covered it or not. The roof was 20+ years old and needed to be done either way. After getting a statement from the Claims Adjuster, Mykyta kept (DELAYING THINGS) telling us that he couldn't provide a quote until he got a sample of the actual shingle (DELAY). We found a sample and he said he needed to FIGHT WITH THE AGENT on it (didn't say how, but we felt he was fighting for our interests) but still no quote (DELAYED) and disappeared with the sample. We would text him weekly thinking "he must really be overloaded with business" Asking, "what is the status of the quote?" The last time I texted him was 9/27 with still no response up to Oct 4th. So on 10/4/21 I contacted another ROOFER and even now it is 10/14 and still no response. The new roofer came on 10/5 and we have a scheduled date of the end of October to do our roof. THE LORD must have protected us from 33 Carpenters and Mykyta. Even tho 33 said he was waiting on our Insurance, we repeatedly explained we were going to move forward regardless. And after weeks went by texting to no avail, he just disappeared. We still don't know what happened with 33 and after losing several weeks and with winter weather coming, at this point and no quote, we decided to look elsewhere. We found a reputable firm that another neighbor recommended, that is in our neighborhood, Arlington Heights (Nyberg Exteriors). read more

Well the good news is my roof is done. The bad news is it took 2 months to get it done and I had to keep calling and e-mailing to find out what the hold up was. My sales guy forgot he was supposed to pick up the insurance check from me and I should have forgot to have him do the roof. The scheduling person called and told me he forgot to schedule my roof. I asked for a quote on the gutters and overhangs. I am still waiting. I am pretty patient but this is ridiculous. The old gutters were just leaned against the house and have subsequently blown down. I hope the warranty is not as reliable as the follow up. My advice would be go someplace else. read more

Jon at 33 Carpenters was awesome! He made the process very easy. We picked our shingles, got scheduled and that was it. The crew that installed our roof was fast and courteous. We have a BIG and STEEP roof, the guys were in and out in 5 days. They even took the time to build a "shield" to protect our pool equipment. Overall, we were very pleased and our new roof looks great!!! read more
