A buddy and I went for breakfast here. When you first walk in, you don't really get the feeling this will be a great meal, but looks can be deceiving. I ordered the Carnitas Eggs Benedict. The portion size and appearance were very nice! The hollandaise sauce was spot on. I loved the tender carnitas added to this classic breakfast. Perfect! The house potatoes were browned and crispy. The only thing the potatoes were missing was onion. Otherwise they were great! The servers, and other staff, were all friendly and responsive. Best of all, the food was affordable and came out fast! If I had known about Cornerstone in West Sac any sooner, we would've already included them in our breakfast/brunch rotation. It's part dive bar, part diner. We got a late start when we went so none of us were feeling breakfast anymore, although breakfast is served all day. Our table ordered from the lunch menu: patty melt, steak sandwich, and turkey supreme sandwich, and upgraded to sweet potato fries. No complaints about anybody the food. My patty melt was solid, and just as expected. It was delicious and filling. The pile of thin crispy fries was perfectly seasoned and served nice and hot. My bro got the sweet potato fries and were well worth the upcharge. My husband loved his NY steak sandwich, served with lettuce, tomato, and onion rings, minus the mayo. Our server was pretty good, after a little delay getting to our table. We were acknowledged when we walked in, from all the way in the back from the kitchen and told to sit anywhere. It did seem like a little too long of a wait to get menus, but once he came over, he was very efficient with getting our drinks and taking our orders. Food came out in a timely manner. Seems like our server was the only staff for the entire front dining area. So if that was the case, he really did a good job, with just slight delays with refills and other requests. But he was pleasant and kept a positive attitude. There's a full bar in the back and prices seemed reasonable. It"s not cheap, but reasonable compared to other bars. Solid 5 for righteous meals at fair prices with good service and easy parking EVERY TIME WE VISIT. Is it fancy? Not a bit! Is it upscale? No way! Is it dependable for ordinary people who'd just like a nice meal out once in a while? Damn straight. Hubs and I have been here 3 times now and consistency is key: in service, in food, in vibe, and in feeling like our money's well spent and appreciated. Tonight I had the rib eye sandwich and hubs had the breakfast combo of biscuits and gravy with over-easy eggs and crispy bacon. That boy loves him some biscuits and gravy. He reports that the biscuits were hot and fluffy, the gravy was flavorful and the perfect consistencey, and I could see that his eggs were perfect. Crispy bacon FTW. Breakfast served all day is a HUGE plus to some friends of mine who work night shift, BTW. My rib eye steak was the perfect thickness for a sandwich and was done exactly as I requested. The soft and fluffy (yet solid) French roll was lightly toasted. Simple sandwich adornments of cool freshly sliced tomatoes and cool crispy iceberg lettuce - yay, none of that wilty stuff that pulls off with the first bite. Man, I love it when a restaurant stays in a solid dependable lane from visit to visit. Yup. 5 stars. So sorry no pics. Maybe they have cooks who rotate out but our breakfast was sadly not what we were hoping for. I ordered 2 over easy eggs but got sunny side instead, 2 sausage patties & home fries. My daughter ordered the veggie omelet & it was terrible. Their home fries are not regular potato cut, it's more like mashed potatoes with a few chunks in it. The only order that came out good was my grand daughter's Belgium waffle so kudos to that at least. We were very disappointed. Three breakfast plates was definitely not worth the $79 without the tip. The atmosphere is nice though. Will we go there again, not sure I want to take the risk in paying $79 or more. I don't know, we'll see. read more

Very nice establishment in West Sacramento, down the street from the Ikea. They have nice seating inside as well as nice patio seating outside. It wasn't busy when me and a friend got there and the sign said to seat ourselves and we ended up sitting outside in the patio area. I'd say our server, Jordan, was very great. Came around quick to take our order. I ordered Chips & Salsa as well as a soda. Jordan's service was pretty great, he knew exactly when to come by when we needed drink refills and always checked up on us. Though the chips & salsa did take a little longer than expected to come out (with around 1-2 other parties dining there) the service and food was good. The location is alright. It's in the "real" West Sac so the surrounding area could be considered rough. But it's also not too far from the IKEA shopping center. This restaurant has its own parking lot so parking will not be an issue. The interior reminds me of a mom & pop old school diner. They have a bar near the back and a jukebox box in the party area. Our server, Janette (?) was nice and very knowledgeable of the menu. She offered her insight on what to get. She also came by multiple times to ensure we were satisfied with our visit. Our food arrived quickly after ordering and it was decently busy when we came. The food was packed with flavor. It wasn't too salty but also certainly not underflavored. My pulled pork had the BBQ sauce with just the right amount of sweetness. The sandwich was really good and tasted like a panini my mom makes. They also serve breakfast all day! Take that McDonalds. The prices are very affordable. Dishes range from $7-20 which makes it a ($) for me. I'd say you can walk out of here for around $30 for a meal for two (before tipping). The portion sizes are also really good. You can almost share every dish. You will not walk out hungry! Honestly, never heard of Cornerstone but now after eating here, I will surely come back. Wow! I never knew this place existed! I am always in the area shopping at Walmart and Ikea. I wanted breakfast nearby, and my friend and I swung by here to try this spot out yesterday. My husband and I have given Cornerstone Cafe a chance several times now, and each time we leave disappointed. We agreed that today was our last visit after the experience we had. My husband ordered the corned beef hash with an over medium egg, but his egg was definitely over easy and his corned beef was dry and inedible. I got the potato platter which would have been decent if they hadn't thrown 2 pieces of American cheese on top and would have shredded fresh cheese instead. I also got a side pancake which was so tough I could barely cut it and by the taste you can tell it was just made with bisquick. In the past my husband has received raw meat when he asked for well done, and tomatoes on his salad which he told them he's allergic to. The worst part of today's experience was seeing a cockroach crawling on the wall of our table. If you're looking for a good breakfast and sandwich spot in town I fully recommend Serrano's Cafe. I was here on their first day Edwin/Aminta and family opened this place many years ago. Just recently moved pretty close to this location, so I'll be coming here more often. Just ate here last night for dinner for the first time, and boy it didn't disappoint! I had the mushroom meatloaf, which was excellent, tons of flavor and good size portion. My boy had spaghetti which he loved, he has his favorites, this just hit the spot for us as he's picky about where he eats. Now, my boy absolutely LOVES chicken noodle soup from another diner in town on the far west end of town. We go there often because it's good, and they offer it every day, along with 1 other "soup of the day". They had chicken noodle today, and let me tell you, it was awesome with their little twist of caldo de pollo in it, adding Mexican squash to it. Food is always plentiful but Im not a fan of their mashed fried breakfast taters. Went here recently and was disappointed for the $1.50 upcharge on a $14.50 linguica sausage sandwich. Eggs make me ill so I never eat them but waitress served sandwich with them on even though I requested just the sausage on toast with yellow cheese. Coffee and food prices are up, pretty sure bill was close to $34 for the two of us. If you are gonna up-charge for minor requests that actually save you money, I'm going to leave smaller tips. read more

Went with my family to have breakfast and my 2yr old started to play with this little packages of sugar on the table and this old, kind of short and chubby lady gave him a dirty look, approached to us and we ordered our food, food came in and as soon as I saw my meat I told the old lady to cook it a little more and she just got upset and said that they serve it like that all the time and that's how they cooked the meat so I asked her again to make it a little more well done and she said no and if I want it like that if not there's nothing she could do about it!!!! she took the plate to the back and didn't come back I went and asked for a manager and it turns out that the short chubby old lady was the owner according to this young lady who apologized for the inconvenience and said to me that she couldn't do anything to fix the problem so we got up and left the old premises!!
