Dining table surface cracked and stripped from dragging during move

Update: After this review was posted, the company offered us an additional $100 if we would confirm the matter was 'resolved.' We declined. We would rather leave it up as an honest assessment and warning to others in the vulnerable position of moving. Original post: Absolutely do not hire this company. We hired them for a full pack-and-move for a move that was only about 0.3 miles away, and it still took nearly 11 hours. They also showed up two hours late. The entire day was chaotic, disorganized, and incredibly stressful. From the beginning, the crew seemed overwhelmed and inexperienced. They kept banging our furniture into things. Midway through the move, the crew lead left due to an emergency, communication fell apart completely, and the rest of the team seemed to have no idea how to manage the job. Anyone who has been through a move knows how hard it is to pull the plug once a moving company is already on-site: you've paid a deposit, your lease or move-out deadline is looming, and your entire day depends on them. In retrospect, I wish I had sent them home. The first major red flag was when they refused to move our piano unless we paid more money, even though we had already disclosed the piano to the company in advance. Last-minute upcharges continued from there. Although we paid (significant) additional money for packing services, the crew complained the entire time about having to pack. They failed to label boxes even after being explicitly told to do so, packed liquids upside down and without caps, ruined items by letting those liquids leak all over other belongings, and packed plants upside down in boxes (???). At the new house, they left furniture disassembled and scattered throughout the house. (They created an unsafe situation in our children's room with unsecured bookcases and a bed left in pieces. We ended up having to sleep on the floor until we could pay someone else to reassemble the bed and make the room safe.) They also broke multiple pieces of furniture, including our dining table, our new sofa, and three bookcases, along with smaller household items. They left items behind at our original house and left a huge amount of packing debris and trash for us to deal with afterward, even though it was their own material. It cost us about $150 to have that hauled away. The most upsetting part was at the end of the move. They would not unload our belongings from the truck until we signed paperwork late at night, before we had any chance to inspect the condition of our furniture, saying that everything was fine. By that point it was around 9 PM, my kids were screaming, and after an exhausting day I felt like I had no choice but to sign whatever they put in front of me just to get our belongings off the truck. After that, their services were even worse. As they moved our stuff in, they banged into doorways, walls, etc., and continued complaining about the house, the furniture, and the scope of the work (even though this was a move of a 1,700-square-foot house only six blocks away! For comparison, we previously moved out of a 3,000-square-foot house, over 15 miles, with two stops, and that entire move took about 10 hours total). In the end, we paid over $3,000 for a move of six blocks -- way more than what they quoted us on the phone -- and were left with damaged furniture, missing parts, extra costs, and a huge amount of stress. The company eventually paid a small claim of $249, but only because their contract limits compensation to 60 cents per pound of damaged furniture. That's a lot of pounds of damaged furniture! And the reparations did not come close to covering the actual damage and disruption. Our losses added up to well over $5,000. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend hiring someone else. This was by far the worst moving experience we have ever had.

Avoid these guys, showed up three hours late to the job site. When they did finally show up it was with a U-Haul that was smaller than the advertised truck. Wierd... They where very rough with our furniture, took them a long time to load and unload. They didn't finish unloading until 4 am. When it was all over several of my things were damaged and some items are missing. Their "manager" said he was going to comp some of the pricing after the terrible service. Guy disappeared after being paid. You've been warned.

We needed to move an antique dining room set including a china closet and a buffet, as well as a few heavy pieces of furniture from my mom's house to our home about 30mins away. Mark and his team showed up on time, had all the furniture wrapped and loaded on the truck in record time. They were so careful with everything! They put all the furniture in place for me when it arrived and cleared out all the trash. They finished within the minimum timeframe and for a last minute call, the price was worth it! I highly recommend Mark and his team!

I needed to hire a company that could come and pack up my One Bedroom Apt. First of all, the 2 Packers I was sent, Z and Eli arrived late, about an hour late. Secondly, Z decided it would be a good idea to pack a gallon of bug spray in with my photo albums, books, and dvd boxed sets. Needless to say, all of my books, some are collections of books by the same author, including 13 books personalized and autographed to me by an author pen pal for 6 years got ruined. Several dvd boxed sets got ruined too. I haven't even looked through my photo albums yet. I found this out when a different moving company came the next day to move me, and several boxes were soaking wet from the bug spray, and literally falling apart! It also leaked into the moving van. Since then, I am finding other things that leaked into other things. Had they been packaged together, and packed correctly, this would not of happened! You might expect damage from a company that moves you, NOT from a company who just does the packing! Glad that I didn't have them move me too! The boxes Z packed were literally caving in and the tape was coming undone! Eli did a better job of packing, but a collectible guitar pick I had in my china cabinet, that he packed and unpacked is missing. I contacted the owner, who tried to make things right by sending Eli and Jose to help me unpack. Except for taking the boxes and other packing materials I had paid for, they left my apt a mess, nothing is where it should be, and there are things that I can't even reach! I thought that I was hiring a professional company, that they would do a professional job! This company is NOT it! If so, even someone who is not a professional packer, would have the common sense not to pack bug spray in with photo albums, priceless books, and dvd boxed sets! I just want to cry looking at my ruined things, things I can't replace! I am just starting trying to get my apt in order, but all I want to do is cry when I look at my belongings! I even gave them an excellent cash tip, before I saw the damage! My entire payment was in cash - $850, including tip, for 5.5 hours of work, just packing, not moving my belongings. When I spoke to Z about the damage he caused, he actually blamed me, and hung up on me! Unfortunately I should of known better! Never hire a company unless they have many good reviews. The team handled everything professionally and efficiently. One of the most impressive parts was watching them use straps to safely lower our bed frame down to the first floor--they made a difficult task look easy. They came fully prepared with all the necessary moving supplies, including wardrobe boxes, and even provided protective materials for our delicate tiles, making sure everything was properly covered and protected. Heading into this move, I was worried about taking apart our bed frames and putting them back together. Mission Movers took care of it at no extra cost. But the biggest thing for me is how friendly and HONEST the team was. One of my dining chairs was already cracked before the move and they approached me and apologized for thinking they did it. That small gesture went a long way for me and I know they were going to find a solution even if it was their fault. They also could've charged me for a full 4 hours but charged me to the exact minute they worked at 3.75 hours. Not to mention it was also a really hot day and they powered through it without a single complaint. My wife and I have said several times that we don't know how we would've done it without Mission Movers. I know exactly who I'm hiring for any of my future moves. 10/10 experience! booked 4US Moving for my move and it was honestly the worst moving experience I have ever had. We were scheduled for a 2-4 PM arrival window, and they did not arrive until almost 7 PM. From the start, it was clear they were unorganized and inexperienced. They moved extremely slow, took constant breaks, and seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. By the time they were done packing the old place, it was already around 11 PM. They told us a large amount of our belongings "didn't fit," so they left a lot of our things behind and barely got anything fully moved. When they arrived at our new house, they suddenly demanded $1,300 and said they would not continue working past midnight because they "wouldn't get paid after 12." They left furniture damaged, broken, chipped, and ripped. Our couches were damaged, furniture corners were chipped, and they didn't properly wrap or protect anything--they basically threw our belongings around carelessly. They also left some of our belongings unfinished and literally left items on the curb outside in the street. To make things worse, the movers stopped to smoke, and our furniture and belongings ended up smelling like weed and cigarettes. It was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. Because they failed to finish the job, my partner and I were left putting furniture together and moving things ourselves until 2-3 AM. My daughter didn't even have her crib set up and had to sleep on the floor because they didn't finish their job. They also threatened that if we didn't pay immediately, they would hold our belongings. What should have been an exciting move into our new home turned into a stressful, upsetting nightmare. We tried getting our money back and they gave us the runaround with fake emails and no real resolution. This company is dishonest, unprofessional, and feels like a complete scam. Moving from place to place is often a hassle and very stressful. Sometimes you get caught up in performing other tasks that you forget things last minute, like scheduling people to help move furniture and items from your old place to your new one within 24 hours. This was my exact situation not too long ago. Enter 4US Moving. Found these guys through Yelp's "start a project" page. Truthfully, there were other moving companies that messaged me first, but with my mind flying in the air, I never had the chance to review any of them until it was a little under 24 hours before I had to move. What set 4US apart was the fact that when I sent an estimate inquiry at 11pm, they responded within minutes. They gave me a fair estimate, had movers ready to go the next morning, and plenty of reassurances that things will be alright. The next day, moving day arrived. Bright and early, three movers came to my apartment: Ali, Daren, and Nicholas. They were tremendously respectful and considerate from the very beginning. They developed a plan once they got a quick look-around of the apartment, often asked me questions if they weren't sure if something were to be packed or not, and treated my items with care, like it was their own. They wrapped everything, packaged with great care, and silently moved the entire apartment into their truck. Unloading at the new place was even faster! At the end, they even offered for me to check their entire truck to ensure nothing was left behind. Major shoutout to Ali, Daren, and Nicholas. Just wanted to give a big shoutout to 4US Moving, especially Sam and Tony, these guys were incredible. Super professional, fast, and honestly just really solid movers all around. It was just the two of them and they managed to disassemble and move some seriously not easy stuff: our electronic adjustable bed, a big L shaped adjustable standing desk (definitely not your average desk), and a huge dining table. No issues, no complaints, they just got it done. They carefully wrapped everything before transporting, and they were super communicative the whole time. We were moving from a medium sized one bedroom apartment to a spot about 5 miles away (but anyone in LA knows that can feel more like 10 with traffic), and the whole thing took around 6 hours. Honestly, that felt super efficient considering what we had. When we got to the new place, they reassembled everything and did it exactly how we asked. I still don't know how they managed to fit some of that furniture through our new doorway but they made it happen. That's what professionals do. They came prepared with a 26 foot truck, ready to take on whatever. You can tell they really care about their work and about taking care of your stuff. All that for an affordable price. I'm a single man who moved from a 12x12 guest room on the first floor of a house in Irvine to a 1BR apartment on a second floor in Whittier. Moving is always nerve wracking, but Olga, Eli and 4US did exactly what they promised: arriving on time, communicating throughout the scheduling and moving process and handling my move from Orange to L.A. County in less than 4 hours. Eli was very professional and very honest. I have a glass poster frame I smashed packing it into my closet in Irvine and rather than letting me think it was broken on the day of the move, he pointed it out to me. Eli also reassembled my bed frame after striking it down for the move. I appreciate that he did: I'm absolutely terrible at furniture assembly. If you're wondering what a reasonable tip for a mover is, consider how much sweat you're saving not doing this shit yourself. I've rented a truck and begged two buddies to give up their Saturday to help me before and did not want that aggravation again. I'm not 25 anymore and at the same time, have accumulated a lot of more books which are fucking heavy. So I tipped each mover $50 a piece and offered a bottle of Gatorade. I'm no high roller but I appreciate the work these guys do, especially if they're climbing stairs, assembling furniture and they're professional, which 4US was. I have only wonderful things to say about 4USMoving! After a really easy booking process and a text confirmation the day before, we were moved by Mike, Vlad, and Abu, who were the nicest guys and incredibly hard workers. The three of them were working nonstop, taking no breaks, and moving our items with precision and care - every item was double or triple wrapped before being placed in the truck. They only took a short period of time to load our old apartment, but what was really incredible was when we arrived at our new home - they were so attentive and asked us where we wanted every last thing, helped to position furniture and rugs, and were overall just fantastic. At one point, I started to move something myself to help out and they immediately rushed over and told me not to worry about it, to let them do the hard stuff. First, movers were a bunch of ex-cons or from prison. Always using foul language and smelled like weed. The phone rep, Ryan Day, even bragged about how the drug screen and background check every mover. They even said that every furniture is extra if it's not on the list, and their list wasn't even my list. I was on the phone with the company and the movers debating the whole time. The job hasn't even started and tips were already being asked. They damaged all my West Elm furniture without protecting the edges or corners. No bubble wrap. No cardboard edge protection. It was very different from the ads. They disassembled my bed frames and used wrong screws back and wondered why the bed can't get assembled again. This move was a scam and I got robbed $850 pluuuusss asking for cash tips for a 3 hours of local move. While on the 3 hour job, they even asked for lunch break. Worst movers ever. The process to book was simple, straight forward and informative from the initial call to the end of the move. The manager let me know she would follow up the day before to go over details again just to double check everything, and she did. She also let me know the drivers would reach out 30minutes before they showed up and they did that too. The guys went over the process with me when they arrived, asked what I needed and walked me through how they would pack the truck. Can you believe it? It costed me over $2700 to move a 3-bedroom home to a location 3 miles away. 4 movers worked for 8 hours and only moved two-third on the first day, leaving all the remaining furnitures outside of the house over 2 nights. 2 nights later, sent 2 movers to complete the remaining work. But the contract stated that 3 movers would be provided. Even though that only sent 2 movers, they charged me according to the rate for 3 movers. Charged me $778.75 for 2 movers 3 hours work. After movers left, they dumped all the moving materials and waste on my closet including used tape rolls, plastic bags, and wrapping paper. read more

Ilia & Alik we're great! They confirmed our appointed time the day before, came exactly on time if not slightly earlier and arrived prepared and ready to go! They worked non-stop and were so kind and helpful. Cautious of damaging the walls and our furniture as they were moving. They wrapped everything and went above and beyond to make sure our move was smooth and successful. We have moved 5 times in the last 4 years and Ilia and his team were honestly the best we've experienced yet. The 3 man crew was excellent. Young, Clean, in shape and hardworking. Very thorough and easy to work with. When it can time to settle up we thought we were being overcharged an hour. We talked with the owner on the phone and he explained ddt , double drive time. It was our misunderstanding. I have rewritten my review based on that. If you hire anyone else after this review you're dumb. I have moved around a lot in the Southbay. I have had to switch move companies a couple times due to poor performance. These guys are now my go to guys to get shit moved. read more
