No, I haven't returned. I've had several things on the menu. The shrimp basket is good, huge portions. The club sandwich is good lunchtime fare. Visiting Asheville, my girlfriend and I wanted to go on a quest to find the best biscuits in the city. We finally found our answer at 5 points. The biscuits are made fresh and are so flaky and buttery. Worth a visit if for no other reason than to try the biscuits. We also had the omlettes and homefries and they were great. This is an institution! The little neighborhood dinner has booths and seating at the counter! The service is fine and the breakfast comes quick! The quality of the pancakes are always a deal breaker for me! These were fluffy and chewy just like I like them. I ordered soft scrambled and the eggs came out just as I ordered them!! The grits are not too runny or too thick! The only thing I would request is they add turkey sausage to the menu, but they do have turkey bacon! The coffee is great too and they even gave me a cup to go!! The two of us had a very fulfilling breakfast for $14! Service is very friendly and comes with a smile! read more

I like the grittiness of this place. I like the local patrons. I like that we can walk to it especially. We had two perfectly good burgers for lunch, Sysco products probably, but they don't try and pretend to be anything but what they are and that's OK with me. You can get a better burger at Farmburger for a few bucks more but have to hassle with parking, traffic, etc. I want to go back and try the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich, a popular favorite in Maryland. The service is always really good, really fast, and everything I've had is delicious. It's pretty standard fare... I recommend the potatoes for sure, but I might not say it's super imaginative. I know people don't usually give five stars for a diner but we love diners and visit them all over the US. This is a small one run very efficiently. We sat at the counter, another thing we love to do, and watched one of the best crews work. The guys at the grill were amazing. The food was a cut above diner food but hey, this is Asheville so we expect to eat good here. I had a wonderful Florentine omelette with grits and biscuits and my husband had a Spanish omelette with potatoes, rye toast and a side of bacon. We usually try to eat only half portions and take the rest with us but this was so good that we almost finished our meals - and these are large portions. Anyway, the wait staff was also great, friendly with a sense of humor and also efficient. This place is a keeper. read more

This is a great spot for an early morning breakfast! The kids and I went here before school one morning and everyone enjoyed their breakfast. My eggs were a tad too runny even though I asked that they be fully done. That said, my bacon order was five pieces and perfectly cooked and the coffee was delicious and hot the spot. My 14 y.o. Son said he needed bigger servings, but he has a "hollow leg" and eats as though it's going out of vogue. read more

My friend and I came to Asheville for the first time and we were so glad we came here after a good morning hike. We were sitting on the booth and could see the cooks doing their thing preparing the food which was cool. We were seated quick, given the menu (by the way there were so many options to choose from!), and our meals were given to us in no time! The staff was absolutely sweet and friendly and made sure that my friend and I had everything we needed. Definitely recommend, they have breakfast option, gyros (which I chose, delicious!), burgers, wraps, and basically anything you can think of. I've heard folks rave about this place for years and when I drive by it's always busy. My hubby and I happened to be driving by one Sunday morning when there wasn't much of a crowd. The restaurant was quiet, the staff didn't seem too happy to be working that day, I honestly felt like i had stumbled into someone's kitchen. My husband had a basic breakfast platter, I had a breakfast burrito. I was a little disappointed that the corned beef hash came from a can (I've gotten spoiled having the real thing around town), I didn't order it. I'm sure if I go back on another day and order something entirely different I may like it better but I'm not sure I'll be back anytime soon, it just wasn't my cup of tea. read more

Five Points is outstanding. Real people own and run it and real people go there. A small place with typical diner decor and clean, tidy restrooms. The eggs, fried potatoes, sausage and biscuits are delicious. All the extra butter you need and endless refills on coffee. The staff is absolutely marvelous (Teresa, Carlina, Carla, Patty, the lust is long) and no wonder since Louis, the owner, is always on hand running his tight ship with endless good will, a sense of humor, and balletic maneuvers at the grill. I love this place, my go-to breakfast place. My only complaint is that grits aren't cooked with enough salt. Louis knows but says he gets complaints if he salts the grits when they are cooking. Oh please. He is intractable but everybody loves Louie. read more

Went in for breakfast after asking the locals for a great breakfast diner. Boy were they right! Sat at the counter and we had everything from biscuits & gravy to pancakes. The chorizo and regular sausage was great! Eggs cooked perfectly, home fries rocked, biscuits were tasty homemade! The sausage gravy could have had a bit more sausage in it. We have been going to this restaurant since I was a little boy. They have some of the best food of any diner in any city I've ever lived. I love the atmosphere and the the music. Ate here Thursday night for dinner and got there almost at closing. The owner's wife insisted that we had time and I'm glad we did. I had the half fried chicken, salad, pickled, beets, and mac and cheese. Fried chicken was awesome and just out of the fryer...very hot! Great pickled beets, extremely fresh, crisp salad, skip the mac and cheese. Food was definitely 4 star and the friendly staff pushed it into 5 star territory. I'd definitely go back.
