Fantastic! Patio is perfect, and I can't believe how many times I've been here for the beer without trying their dinner entrees. Wow!

Stopped in today for lunch and beers at the 602 on Main. The atmosphere has a great groovy vibe. A bit of the historic building mixed with an industrial twist makes for the perfect swank. I enjoyed a glass of Revolver blood and honey pale wheat ale (which disappeared all too fast) along with a plate of Cajun inspired shrimp and grits and a side of squash. I'm not sure what the seasonings were, but I was almost willing to lick my plate. This place has an area for quiet reserved dinner if that's your mood and a great long bar to chill with friends or an outside area to play pool, darts or listen to the live band. Basically it has something for everyone. The signs professed a different type of entertainment each night of the week it seemed, so we will defiantly be going back to check this out. First time trying this restaurant and we were so impressed! The ambience is fabulous and our server Kara was as attentive and sweet as she could be. We both ordered steak, me a flat iron and Tom a ribeye. They were both cooked perfectly and mine had such a great flavor, I highly recommend it! Forgive the one star rating. We did not eat here but the initial experience was not good. We walked in at 1130 AM because yelp showed such great reviews. The waitress was very friendly and told us to sit anywhere we wanted. It was hard to pick a table because every table was dirty, like it hadn't been cleaned from the night before. There were flies congregating on the messes on the tables. At that point we chose to leave and go somewhere else. I would assume that as a bar it would be a great place to go and have a drink with friends. I don't think I would eat there, judging on how dirty all the tables were. read more

We drove over from Round Rock to meet friends here because it had good reviews. But we were extremely disappointed. We've never had such poor service. Our waitress was surly and confused - we asked for four plates to go with our appetizers- she brought us three and was mad when we requested one more. Two of the beers we ordered - during "happy hour" - were not "available" until 7pm. When we were ready to order our meals, she disappeared and didn't come back. We could see her at the bar complaining about us. We had to go to the manager and ask for our check. read more

The Farm to Table is so favorable from Entree to Dessert. The atmosphere is so relaxing and comfortable. We loved the friendly atmosphere. The staff at 602 On Main were very welcoming and friendly. Been going here since they opened and it hasn't been a year yet, but they are really making progress in terms of staffing, events, and innovative menu items. I especially enjoy their fresh fried green beans and the mussels. With drink and appetizer specials every day from 4 - 6 pm, you can enjoy signature drinks and star menu items for half price. They are always adding new events, too. One of the things I like best about this place is they make an effort to use local talent, local produce, local meat/poultry, whenever possible. Stopped here for something to eat on the drive home from Austin. We were seated and waited about 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order. We then waited at least 10 minutes more to get said drinks. Then we waited at least 10 minutes and the waitress finally came back and asked if we were ready to order. We were sitting there trying to entertain a 6, 4 and 2 year old that were traveling all day and literally couldn't wait anymore. We asked for our check while my kids were telling me they were so hungry. We just drove out of our way to chick fil a and had a delicious meal because this place can't get it together. The only redeeming quality was the pour on my glass of wine was extra large. Other than that I would avoid. Not that I'll be traveling through bastrop again but if I do this place is definitely not on my list of places to stop at. read more

I have eaten here twice and the food is amazing. It's a bit pricey, but that's my only complaint. Service both times has been above and beyond. I highly recommend their crab cake appetizer, and lobster and crab Mac and cheese. I'm drooling just thinking about it right now. I don't eat beef but have heard their steaks and burgers are top rate as well. If you're looking for a spot to have a celebratory meal, like Birthday or anniversary, and want to spend a little more, it's really well worth it. read more

This is a great new restaurant in Bastrop. Brunch on the patio is sublime with the house band. The chef has a culinary background from New Orleans and Mississippi and brings a distinct Cajun southern cooking feeling to the menu. At night the patio is beautifully lit up for more music and dining. The inside is laid out for casual eats and viewing sports. Wonderful vintage beer can collection lines the walls. Owner Rick is super friendly and visits with all his guests. Does it get any better? Great cocktail menu too! read more

The only reason I'll give it 2 is because the food wasn't bad. Service was just very poor. The girl tried, sort of, but forgot a lot and it just took a long time to get drinks and food . I go to Bastrop a couple of times a year, this place is in the Historic Downtown and brewed their own beer, so I gave it a shot. Travis was behind the bar and was immediately friendly. I go for high ABV beers normally, and saw a Trippel that was of interest, although they aren't typically my favorite. All I can say was this was their spin on a Trippel and was quite literally the BEST Trippel I've ever had in my life bar none. Pleasantly surprised, I asked Travis about their best appetizer, to which he recommended the pretzel. Again, pretzels are not my favorite (thinking the big soft NY pretzels you can find everywhere), but Travis had already done me a solid so I took his advice. Come to find out, yet again, it was the BEST pretzel I've ever had...made locally in Bastrop, I wish I could describe it. It was so unique and fresh I can't do it justice here. All I can say is, if you find yourself in Bastrop for a beer and a pretzel, drop by and ask for Travis. The place itself has that Bastrop-y ambience right on the main street, great beer, and good people. Highly recommended, give it a shot! read more

Being from Louisiana I think I can evaluate seafood so here goes: the crabcakes were excellent but they could have put a little more sauce. Nevertheless, I would give the crabcakes a five. I don't know what I was thinking when I ordered shrimp and grits at a restaurant in Bastrop, but I did. The shrimp had a nice flavor, but who decided that polenta would take the place of grits? That was a really bad decision. There just wasn't enough substance and texture. The flavor of the sauce was good but I don't think I could give the dish more than a three. read more

Yeah, so let's start at the beginning... We came here a couple weeks ago for dinner. Wednesday night, 6:30ish, not exactly a bumping Friday night. It was busy but not what I would consider "unmanageable". For our waitress, though, clearly it was too much. As we sit down in the dining area she asks us what we would like to drink. I can't see the bar or read from here so I asked what she has on tap. Quote "I'm not sure, why don't you go up to the bar and take a look".... ummm what? Seriously? ok... So once we finally order our drinks, it's about 15 minutes and nothing, so a manager comes by and we ask again and he makes it happen. Same thing was happening to nearby tables. I also didn't know there were any specials, but evidently there was, she never relayed to us what those were. The real problem here is the new management and the clueless waitstaff. The food was actually quite good, but getting TO the food was such a hassle. So it wasn't a great experience, but shit happens, maybe it was the waitress' first day ever waiting a table, who knows. We figure we would give it a second chance. Then today happens. They launched a brunch (Much needed in Bastrop) about 3 weeks ago. 3 weeks. In that time, evidently there was new management. We went in this morning (11am) and were seated with a dinner menu. I asked the waitress for the brunch menu and she had to check. Had to check...if there was brunch. The service they had just launched 3 weeks prior. in fact, you can still google it: http://business.bastropchamber.com/events/details/the-602-on-main-sunday-brunch-11-26-2017-21663 So not even 3 weeks after the article is written, they killed the brunch menu. So yeah, basically, management is struggling to figure out what the restaurant will be, the waitstaff is not being communicated to, and the whole concept is just confusing. The tragedy is that the food we had was good, but it's never going to last unless they figure out a way to actually get food and drinks to the people that want it. But seriously, bring back brunch or don't bother opening before 5pm on Sunday. read more

Party of about 9 people. Two were there early and had been there for 30 minutes but no one asked to take their drink order. We had to go ask for service. I had ordered the quinoa salad before and it was very good, so I ordered that. It was supposed to be grilled lettuce but it was not grilled, just 2 lettuce leaves. Quinoa had no seasoning or dressing. I told the waitress about it but she had an attitude and said "the lettuce is grilled, I can see the grill marks" (not true, no grill marks and ice cold). My friend ordered the mussels and they were cold. I HAVE NEVER SENT BACK A MEAL OR COMPLAINED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE, AND I'M 62! Most of the other people in our party were happy with their meals but we agreed we would not go back due to the service. The place was almost empty most of the time we were there. read more

We live in Austin and just got back from the Sunday Gospel Buffet at 602 on Main in Bastrop. Well worth the drive. Loved the food and the music! Greeted at the door by James and immediately felt like we were with friends. The buffet was SO good but like Austin's prices of yesteryear. Got to know the owner, Rick, and his novel set-up with open-mic Wednesdays where amateur musicians can perform, a rotating ensemble of microbreweries on tap, and a very broad menu like quail and tomahawk pork chops (forthcoming). read more

It would be a minus if I could. Went there last night (Saturday) , there was a party of ten in our group. My partner & I ordered an appetizer of the garlic fries, on the menu stated it was enough for two. Another couple ordered fried pickles, several ordered entrées and a salad to shared. Took over 30 minutes before we got our appetizers, the fries were lukewarm, seems like they sprinkle them with a lot of powdered garlic powder and there was no way it was enough for two! Fried pickles were cold and burnt. The order for shrimp & grits was missing grits! The waitress did offer veggies or something for missing grits. Fried shrimp was cold and hard, couldn't bite into them. The quinoa salad was missing a lot of components in making the salad. The majority of the food was returned back to the kitchen. I had tried this place a couple times in the past, always the same results terrible, terrible food. read more

I have been going to this place for the last couple of the months on Mon, Weds and Fri after my wife's course of medical treatments. It is usually at 3 PM when you would expect most places to be ignoring customers. They always are quick to serve and often remember what we like. The food is much better than you would expect for a bar and music venue and by far the best I have encountered in this small town. The 602 burger, with the local bun and beef with garlic fries, is excellent. Shrimp and grits, chowder, gumbo and shrimp tempura appetizer are also very good. The medical treatments are about over and now we will be returning for dinner. read more

Our first experience here was pretty good. The second one not so much. From chipped glassware, to a rotten salad, 1 hour wait for ordered food while the place was not hugely busy, drinks not refilled. Management didn't seem too concerned. The only reason this was a four star and not a five was the lack of decor. There is a certain soulless quality to it. Truthfully, it looks a little like a dive. HOWEVER, the decor does not matter when compared to the customer service and quality of food. I had the cheeseburger with garlic fries and the mason jar key lime pie. Both were fantastic. My husband had the turkey club and devoured it. Vanessa was our server and she was wonderful. My husband wasn't feeling well and ordered hot tea. He was being picky about what he wanted for his tea and Vanessa accommodated al of his requests very cheerfully. This place is warm and fun and pleasant, and one of the many reasons I love Bastrop. A lady we passed on the street while looking at the menu, said that the place was good and we should try it. We'd be happy. That's the advice I give you. The place is good and you should try it. We are at 602 Brewery yesterday for lunch, arrived and went out on the patio, this part of the visit. The waitress was slow and distracted. We watched other parties come in after we had ordered and they got their orders before us. There were three of us ordering burgers and another ordered a salad. I finally got up to see what was taking so long to get our food and amazingly enough our order was ready. Fries were cold, burger buns were soggy. When she did bring food we asked for another Diet Coke and a water, finished burgers when she finally came back without the drinks. We asked again and she was gone an additional 5 minutes then returned with the coke and water. Terrible service by a waitress that was not attentive nor anyway deserving of the tip she got. Food was ehh. Won't be going back and by the way, they were not busy at all. read more
