This is a great spot for an out of the way meet up with a friend. Sit outside in the corner table nearest the parking lot and you'll have plenty of privacy. Great curated selection of wines/cheeses/spanish olives. The grilled trout with veggies was par excellence-well seasoned with a hot crispy skin left on. The salmon was equally pleasing. I have not been excited about the caesar salad. The salad and croutons were on point but the dressing is a complete miss. No "umami" flavor in it-tastes like romaine lettuce that was tossed in a spicey oil, not what I consider a caesar salad personally. The cappuccinos are just divine-strong and robust flavor with nice foam, perfect for sipping on their out side porch while contemplating life. The service has always been great-I've been twice. I can't recommend their flourless chocolate torte. It is a hard nutty brick. The hot chocolate sauce and Amy's ice cream served with it are sublime but for me, I prefer the truer version of a flourless chocolate torte which is basically a very firm chocolate custard/souffle. This recipe needs to go-sorry folks, it's not working. How about a nice chocolate pot de creme? Pro tip-get there before HH ends at 6pm and enjoy 2 dollars off wine and half price apps. I don't get the hype. The pasta was ok, but the muscle special seemed like a canned tomato with fettuccine. Nothing special about it. Flour less chocolate cake was dry, and the terrimasu was just made incorrectly. The lady fingers were dry and stale, with no coffee anything around it. Wine is cheap here, and the appetizers were good. Dinner and deserts were however disappointing enough to warrant not coming back. I know it's COVID, but these are restaurant basics that plenty of others are handling just fine. read more

Superb experience on Father's Day! We had a 545pm resv on the covered porch for 8ppl. We were sat right away. Porch was lovely with fans & comfy bench pillows. We had our well behaved dog under our table with us who also enjoyed the porch. Our server Donna was superb from the start. Greeted us with warm hospitality, very knowledgeable when we had questions, and got in our first round of bevs and appetizers during Happy Hr. Ice cold glasses came out with our ice cold beers. Heavenly. We really enjoyed appetizer of calamari, so perfect lightly done. Mac n cheese balls were also so good. Our entrees of Pasta were all a hit and the pasta itself cooked to perfection. The Pastas we had : the one with Calamari Puttanesca, the Chicken Parm, the Fettuccini Mushrooms, the special Ravioli with mushrooms, and my favorite was the Andiamo Classic Bolognese! I loved that it wasn't the over much tomato sauce type. Their sauce of cream, Parmesan, tomatoes, and spinach with ragu of veal pork beef was so so good. Each ingredient shined. I felt like I was eating a special, lovingly made homemade dish. Thank you to the Chef and entire kitchen staff. And to the front of house, especially Donna. We were excited to try a new Italian eatery in West Austin. We ordered the Pomadoro, the Bolognese, soup,, the daily special salads. We also ordered a bottle of wine and had desert. The Mushroom soup and the salads were very good. The entrees on the other hand were mediocre at best. ln fact, the bolognese had no tomato in it at all. I have never had a bolognese sauce without tomato until 68 Degrees. It was incredibly bland. I know better and probably should have sent it back, but based on plates that were passing me, something similar would have come back. The same went for the Pomadoro dish. I must say, the wine and the desserts were good. We had the chocolate hazelnut tart & the polenta pound cake. Verdict: The reason I go to a restaurant is for the entrees....not the salads and desserts. This restaurant needs to decide if it is a noveau Italian or a real Italian restaurant. Either way, they need to find some tomatoes for your tomato-esque dishes and I'll be back. read more

We love this neighborhood restaurant. The family favorite is the chicken Parmesan and the bolognese, before going here for the first time the bolognese was very very hyped up for me and they did not disappoint. I have yet to have an appetizer that I did not like: truffle fries, calamari, and fried Mac and cheese. All were spectacular. Of the dishes I tried the special of the night ravioli with a red cream sauce was phenomenal. The sauce was like a warm hug and I would gladly order that every time if it ever made it to the official menu. I ordered the carbonara, which unfortunately fell flat. Instead of tasting creamy and luscious it had the flavor of scrambled eggs. We also ordered the calamari puttanesca, and it was too fishy to enjoy. Stopped into this restaurant on a whim, and so glad we did! Not only is the inside of this restaurant super cozy and nice, but the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the roasted salmon, and my husband ordered the grilled trout. Both were very colorful dishes with lots of veggies. We were in Austin for the UT graduation and 68 Degrees was selected by the people we were visiting. The menu is very limited, only four non-pasta entrees. The food was a little slow in coming out, but the big disappointment was in how the restaurant dealt with customer satisfaction. The trout that two of us ordered was dry and just didn't taste very good. The server offered to take it back and let us order something else, which we did. They actually had the nerve to charge us 50% for the returned entrees and full price for the replacement. Another entree ordered was chicken piccata, which came out as chicken parm. When the server offered to bring out the correct entree, she asked "one or two filets"? The diner said one, figuring there were two price points as was the case for the parm ($16.50 or $23). The price on the bill was $27. When asked, the server responded that there was only one price option for the piccata. Then why ask? Totally overpriced! The other entrees, two pasta bolognese and one chicken parm were enjoyed. The three desserts ordered were very good. Written comments to the owner, although encouraged, went unanswered. read more

We were excited to try this restaurant, and thrilled when making reservations to offered a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. However, on arrival, we were told that there would be a thirty minute wait for outdoor. We asked to wait a minute for my husband to come in from parking the car. By the time he came in, the only choice was an indoor table all facing out onto other diners outside, or waiting 30-45 minutes. The host was not apologetic or helpful in general. He kept blaming all problems on the reservation system, not taking into account that he was seating people as they arrived rather than by reservation. We left and had a great dinner elsewhere. My wife and I love the sister restaurant in Santa Fe and were both excited to see this place open from the same owners. In short, food was ok and not nearly as good as the place in Santa Fe. I got the pork green chili stew and my wife got the bolognese. Both were ok, but we thought both were a little on the bland side. Had been wanting to check this place out for awhile so finally made my way there for a business meeting. And boy was I pleasantly surprised. The interior was light and very inviting. Ordered the Caesar salad to start and it was excellent. A true Caesar dressing with plenty of anchovies but still light and not overdone like most Italian places tend to do. Went with the calamari puttanesca for my entree and it was excellent, very fresh and very flavorful. Underwhelming. And overpowered with garlic. Arrived at 4:45 and came in to have a glass of wine and work while I waited on someone. Was told they couldn't serve until 5PM, so I indicated I could go to Fabi and Rossi. They decided to get me a glass of wine, but everyone seemed very put out by it. The waitress warmed up and was very accommodating, so we decided to stay and try dinner. Got the bruschetta with fig, mascarpone, and arugula which sounded amazing, and initially tasted very nice, but then became overwhelming with the flavor of raw garlic. Now, I should say that I'm pretty sure every dish I ever make at home has tons of garlic in it, but this was like chewing on a raw clove. For dinner, we ordered the cappelini and the ravioli. Ravioli portion was super tiny and looked like potstickers, and the tomato sauce tasted like tomato soup from a box. :( My 9 year old daughter loved it though. The cappelini was a fresh summer dish with fresh tomatoes. It arrived as a pile of pasta with some oil on it, and a handful of cherry tomatoes around the side of the dish. Again, completely overwhelmed by RAW garlic -- to the point where it's been 2 hours and I cannot get the taste out of my mouth. And both meals were woefully underseasoned. Dessert was the hazlenut torte which was cold and dry and seemed like it had been sitting in the fridge uncovered for quite a long time. There are too many amazing Italian restaurants in this town to justify going back to this one. Try Asti, L'oca D'oro, Vespaio, or Italic instead. Pricing is similar and food and service are far superior. read more

It's nice to finally have a restaurant in this location that is a step up from a neighborhood diner. However, I sometimes wish it was a bit less expensive so that I could order or eat there on a common week day night when I just don't feel like cooking. While we are seeing a boom in Italian restaurants in Austin, the food still offers something different in the surrounding area and I've never had a dish that wasn't delicious. I think they also could offer a bit more better offerings to their HH in order to attract my business. read more

So glad to have 68° in the hood! Have eaten there a couple of times -- stand outs were the trout, lamb sausage penne, and also the ravioli. Love the new interior and atmosphere --trendy but comfortable. I anticipate that the outdoor patio will be popular when the weather cools. I'm really hoping, though, that they will expand the menu in the future. Entree selection could use a few more offerings beyond pasta and pizza. Wow. This used to be a favored place of mine as I live in the neighborhood, but last night I had an experience that will probably keep me away. We got there at 8:45, and were seated immediately. What was clear was no one was interested in us having a good experience. We ordered our meals... when it came, no offer of grated Parmesan, no bread, no offer of cracked pepper. They didn't have the ingredients for one of their salads, so they made an alternate. When dinner was done we ordered dessert and I asked for hot black tea. Amanda look at me puzzled and said what kind? I said "just simple black tea". When she brought it, she handed me a bag of earl gray and said "I guess this is what you want", spun and walked away. Then came my panicotta. "We're out of fruit, they put a twig on it"- she put down the dessert which was supposed to have berries... they had stuck a mint leaf twig on it, and served it without anything else. I wasn't asked if I wanted it still, as it wasn't what was described on the menu. Got charged full price for it. Now I'll take a bit of ownership as I thought they were open until 10, and I learned this morning it was 9, but seriously... if you don't want to serve at 8:45... turn me away. If you seat me, I expect service and a decent, consistent experience. I hope this is an isolated incident because I used to be a huge fan of this place but after the apparent brush off, I'm not keen on returning. read more

The food ranged from passable to not really passable. We have been there twice, and both times there were major hiccups with the service. The first time our server left for the night before we finished. It turned into a VERY long process to get our bill and escape. On our next visit our server was very pleasant but untrained. Another server simply oozed being pissed off. Our appetizers never came. A great bottle of wine ended up being over poured into the stemless glasses already on the table while other tables got suitable stemware. We were seated after 7:30 for our 7:00 reservation. One member of the party had the pasta with clams and said the clams were good. She left the pasta. The diner who ordered chicken Parm said it was very dry. The pasta with mushrooms and the pasta Bolognese were meh. Definitely way better at home. Parking is a mess, too. read more

Got my order incorrect and seemed annoyed to correct it. The food was ok. The chicken Parmesan did not have a lot of flavor. The cheese on it was not melted and what they said was a vegetable ragout was just roasted vegetables. The gave me a sauce to dip the chicken on and it was bland as well. Been there 3 times hoping to see this restaurant improve and am at the '3 strikes your out' point. The Good : Fried mac and cheese balls...At least my kids think so. Spinach and Mushrooms that came with Pork Masala. Bad: Everything else. Pork Masala was the least flavored, over cooked meat I have had in a very long time. Pork Stew was also unseasoned pork and beans in a broth. Probably just a difference of opinion on word "stew" but nonetheless dish was a real disappointment. Chicken parm with spaghetti was most bland dish of the night though. Literally couldn't taste any salt or any seasoning at all in the breading or the chicken. Sauce was very bland, Spaghetti was well cooked though. Wine selection is robust for the seasoned palate, I had a decent Sangiovese. But for those that prefer sweeter wines (the wife), like dessert wines, they have nothing to offer. No Moscato, Late Harvest, PX, IceWine...how does an Italian restaurant not serve Dolce wines? Really wish this area in Austin had more to offer but F&R across street is only good sit down nice ambience style restaurant in deep eddy. Sorry 68, but won't be back. read more
