Everyone is very nice. However, I asked for a dessert menu at 5:56 from someone who was not my waitress. After sitting there with empty wine glasses and no plates until 6:42, I asked for my check. I finally got to pay after 7. So, not only did I take up your table for extra time, you missed out on selling a dessert and 2 more glasses of wine. read more

What a beautiful place with a thoughtful menu! I was able to try many of 68 Degrees' dishes and while I was impressed with each one, the dishes that Really left an impression were the Beet and Burratta and Fettucine with Portabella and Shitake. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the umami flavor of the shitake and portobellos was out of this world!!! I would love to return and visit for a romantic evening with my hubby. Disappointed. I brought my friend for her birthday last night. We went very early so it was not busy. Her appetizer came out first and she finished it and I waited and waited for mine to come out ( a salad). It came and I ate it while she sat with nothing. Then her main course came out again alone and I waited for mine. So she ate alone and mine came after hers was finished and gone. The waitress said , oh well she can tell you how it was since we ordered the same dish. No apology. Then we ordered desert and for the third time they served her and not me. And to top it off the 79 dollar champagne I ordered was rung up as 99.00. I don't think I have ever seen such poor service. It was a bit shocking and they didn't seem to really care. They also did not come to the table. We had to serve ourselves the champagne the entire time. Although I saw other tables having their wine topped off while they ate dinner and their courses coming together. Bizarre ! The food was a 6-7. This restaurant is amazing! It was my wife's and my first time coming here. We ordered the ravioli of the night (which was incredibly creamy) and the duck leg confit. The figs that came with the duck were incredibly flavorful and paired perfectly with the duck, which had a great seasoning on the skin. The service was great, as well. They had one floor-standing fan pointing at another table. When we asked the waiter for a fan, he said "we're working on it." WTF does that mean?!? Unless working on it = another staff member driving to Home Depot to buy a fan for our table... ...you're not working on it. You're making excuses and creating unhappy customers. After we had to wait to be seated nearly 20-minutes after our reservation time, we were placed at a high top table that was shoulder to shoulder with the table next to us, and the other side was a bussing area. They tried to cram way to many people into one table area. We ordered a bottle of wine and the server didn't return with it for nearly 30 minutes which was disappointing. The appetizers were alright, basic Caesar and a soup. For entrees we ordered a pasta dish and the duck. The pasta dish was alright as well, nothing to write home about but certainly good enough. The duck arrived BURNT TO A CRISP! By this point it was already well after 9 and we didn't want to wait to send it back. I ate what I could although my knife literally couldn't cut through part of the chard skin. I ordered the tiramisu because I was still hungry; it was pretty good but very small. I'd also like to add that while we were waiting the waiters acted extremely annoyed when they had to check guests in, and did so without ever making eye contact, looking only at the iPads. It came off as very welcoming. After seeing such good reviews it's a shame that we experienced this. I can't imagine we'll be back with all of the other great restaurants in the area. read more

I've been to 68 Degrees once and I was impressed with everything. We made reservations, however it did not appear to be necessary on a recent Friday evening. It was a bit confusing to see such a nice place sharing the same building with a cleaning business and also steps from a gas station. They also have a spacious and adorable patio on the other side, so it's not facing the gas station. I would definitely sit out there next time if the weather is decent. The interior was simple, clean lines and carefully thought out. I loved the succulent gardens on the wall. It was a small space but large enough to not feel claustrophobic. The seating could have been awkward but they did not seat people right next to us thankfully. The wine I ordered from their special menu was superb. For starters, I had to get the fried mac & cheese balls. I would definitely order these again. For my entrée I ordered the fettuccine with portabella and crimini mushrooms. The mushrooms were prepared with my pasta exceeded my expectations! Mushrooms can be difficult for restaurants to get right, but 68 Degrees has made me a fan. I'm probably spoiled now and my expectations will be set too high when I dine at other restaurants. My dining companion ordered the penne with spicy house-made lamb sausage. For dessert it had to be the profiteroles with ice cream as dessert. I like to pronounce it as "profit-roles." I am a big fan of this place due to the location, the affordable pricing, decent parking situation, excellent drink selection and good service. A nice place with a laid back feel and zero pretentiousness. I also didn't feel out of place getting the Austin version of "dressed up" to go out for the evening here, i.e. a romper and 3 inch heels. This restaurant has a gorgeous interior and outside covered patio dining area! The aesthetics alone were very nice to have during our meal! We had a reservation and were seated right away. Luckily, the small parking lot was still fairly empty when we arrived, so parking was no issue. We ordered calamari for the group, which was pretty good. Two of us in our group ordered the linguine with shrimp as an entree and the other two ordered fettuccine with the mushrooms. Overall, the portions were plenty but the pasta was average. Definitely ask for fresh Parmesan on the side! The linguine and shrimp wasn't too flavorful, and fairly bland, but it was cooked very well! We were excited to try this place bc it had come up in a lot of culture blogs. The food was actually quite good; I had the green hatch child pork stew and fiancé had the lamb penne. They were both above average and the ambience is great. We went at about 5:30 on a Wednesday and it was half full of ladies who lunch, but the service is baaaad. If our waiter had been any more bored with us and his job in general, he would have just crumbled his cardboard personality into the ground. It's one thing to not love your job, we have all waited tables before, but this dude just detracted from our experience with his apathy and contempt. So...only three stars, but if he willing to go again if I happen to find myself in that area and with a different server. read more

Love that you can order a smaller portion of pasta, full size is plenty of food for at least one). Extensive wine choices. Dessert list has a lot of Amy's ice cream a la mode. I think I expected too much, and this is really a 3.5-Star review. Is it too much to expect an Italian restaurant to make their own pasta?? I guess so? Everything I had was decent. The Caesar salad dressing was tasty but lacking the egg yolk the menu described. The cheese board was forgettable and not worth the price. And the fettuccine with oyster mushrooms was ok. It was really like a fettuccini carbonara - it had cooked egg whites (not a fan) mixed in, and was topped with a raw egg yolk, with some of the albumen still attached (unappetizing - at least remove the white!). It was basically some form of carbonara, but nottt advertised as such. Meh. Not great. But there was a nice amount of mushrooms mixed in, which is probably the reason I didn't send it back. All in all, it's a really cute/trendy place, and the outdoor seating was wonderful on a nice night. Service was ok. I would come back to try again, but I'm not in a hurry. read more

This place was perfect for Valentines Day. Our table Was ready right when we got there and we were seated properly. The service was very warm and friendly. The food was excellent I had the polenta with the Gorgonzola sauce and the Maryland crab linguine. My boyfriend had the Caesar salad and the Scottish salmon. Both were excellent. For dessert I had the tiramisu however I thought it was a little dry it could've use a little bit more coffee over the ladyfingers. Old Mangia's location. This has been on our list for a bit but finally recently got there. Made a reservation via OpenTable for 7ish on Friday. I don't think they are needed. Started with the caprese salad. Very colorful tomatoes. I then had the half portion of the spaghetti bolnease. My husband did the beef tenderloin. Everything was cooked perfect and tasted great. I love the half portion option. I really wish more places would do it. Our waiter was attentive. This place will probably become some place we come in the future. The noise level can be really high. August2016; Visited here after a dip in Barton Springs. Was dressed very casual, but they welcomed us in with no issues. The service was fantastic. It has been a long time that I have been to a restaurant and everything that was ordered was great. We started off with beet salad and the Calamari (Mentioned in another review). The sizes of the plates was perfect. The grilled trout was recommended and it was wonderful. The soup of the night, chicken soup was good, maybe a little salty, but very tasty. The mixed baby green salad was light and tasty. We finished off with a desert and it was well worth it. I will definitely be going here again. read more

SO this location has had 3 different restaurants before 68 Degrees moved in. I drive past this place every time I go into downtown, and when it was under it's lengthy construction I wondered what type of restaurant they would put into it next. When the sign came up, I had no clue what type of food it might be. I kept waiting for a Yelp page to appear for it, but nothing. SO finally I looked up their website and found out it was Italian. My first thought was "Just what Austin needs, another Italian place." Yet since I live only 5 minutes away I figured it would be worth a shot. FYI. DO NOT rely on the menu they have posted online. Looking at it just now, all the items are right, but the prices are way off. It's much more expensive than that. This leads to my 3-star review. I'd give it 3.5 out of 5, but with the portion sizes you get, I felt like everything could be marked down by a dollar or two. I went with one other person in the middle of the week and was surprised how packed it was. The interior is very nice, they did a great job with it. The last time I had stepped foot in this building was when it was still Mangia Pizza. You can't even recognize the place now. We sat in a smaller area of the restaurant where it was much quieter which was nice. Onto the food. We shared the flash fried calamari(good for 2-3 people) and a special-menu salad(honestly good for just 1 person as it was small). Both were very good. We then both got pastas. I got the Capellini and my friend got the Spaghetti Aglio e Olio with Shrimp. If you look at their menu online it says the Spaghetti Aglio e Olio with Shrimp is only $12! That is incorrect, it was actually $18. The Capellini was $16 instead of $14 which is what's listed on their online menu. The Pasta was good, but the portions were small. We had gotten pretty filled up on the appetizers so I was pretty full, but I don't think the portion-size justifies the price-point. I tried my friend's Spaghetti Aglio e Olio with Shrimp and it was OVERLOADED with garlic, now, I'm a huge garlic-lover, so I liked it, but for those who aren't as big on the garlic you might find it inedible. Although the Spaghetti Aglio e Olio with Shrimp was small portion-wise, you at least get a decent amount of shrimp. They have other Pasta classics like the Chicken Parmesan and the Bolognese, but everything is downsized. A table across from us got both of those dishes; the Chicken Parm was instead cubes of breaded chicken with spaghetti and the Bolognese looked a little skimpy on the meat sauce. To compare this place to other Italian restaurants in Austin that have a higher price-point, I think of a place like Italic. Italic has slightly smaller portions, but having been there once, and getting a pasta dish, I remember getting a bigger portion that cost about the same as what I got at 68 Degrees. For dessert we shared the profiteroles, which were tasty, but again small, and couldn't compare to the profiteroles you get at French restaurant Chez Nous. All in all the food was perfectly decent, but again not good enough for what you are paying. This place definitely caters to the upper-middle class folks living in the area. I think I was the only brown-skinned person in the entire restaurant. Lots of older folks, older women with obvious plastic surgery, and some families with children. When we left the restaurant there was a nice red FERRARI in the parking lot, so I'm sure a lot of these people aren't bothered by how much the food costs. If they put pizza on their dinner menu I might consider coming back, but until then I'd recommend sticking to other well-established Italian places in Austin with fair prices and decent portion-sizes read more

Don't worry! 68 degrees was not the temperature inside the restaurant (in case you were worried.) The restaurant was chilly at first, but probably because my classy friend and I made reservations at 6:00 PM and they were preparing for the onslaught of the dinner rush. (In other words, ladies, bring a light sweater if you eat early.) It filled up fast after that though so the heat and noise rose and warmed us up. I enjoyed the candle-lit table and the immaculately clean space with its upscale, trendy Austin ambiance. Would be a great place for a second or third date (not a first date because you should never do dinner for a first date. That one's for free.) But let's get down to business. The food. We had the spaghetti bolognese with all kinds of wonderful meaty bits which would delight anyone with a honed carnivore's palate (or even if not honed, still pretty darn good for spaghetti.) Couple of opportunities for improvement: The wait staff was a little slow. I had to wave down a waiter to order and it took ages for someone to come and re-fill my water glass (which, on a personal note, I'd normally welcome because hovering over the table ready to fill my glass after every sip makes me nervous.) A bit more attentiveness would be well-received. Also, the prices were higher than expected for the portions we received, but we consoled ourselves saying we were paying for the ambiance and a chance to indulge our inner Austin foodies! One gold star to note--even though my friend and I stayed longer than normal, they did not badger us to leave. We eventually went and sat outside to free up the table and they had no problem with that either. All in all, thanks for the delicious meal and dining experience 68 Degrees! We found this place on a Friday night as an alternative to waiting 2 hours at all the other restaurants in/near downtown Austin. I had the Caesar salad and corn "chowder". The salad was great although I'd rather have had the romaine chopped instead of full leaves. The corn chowder was a little deceiving. Chowder is classically chunky but this was corn broth. My guests had the mushroom ravioli, classic bolognese and Spivey sausage and pasta. Their dishes were all very tasty (thankfully they shared some of their meals with me).
