We ordered grilled pork belly but it's all burned and we couldn't consume all. The soft tofu soup is quite tasteless too without the favour. The food was pretty good! I got the Seafood bibimbap (not stone,$11) and the flavors of the sauce was good but very overwhelming. There was a ton of red sauce, in which at first I thought wasn't that bad when I mixed it with the rice. Towards the end, my rice ended up being soggy after soaking in the red sauce. There are plenty of different seafood meats. It was kind of hard to see which seafood meat I was eating (i'm no expert either). I shared the bibimap with a friend and it was plenty to fill us both up. Probably next time I'll ask for less sauce or have the sauce on the side instead of added into my bibimbap. I also got the corn cheese and I felt that the corn cheese ($7) can be a pass. I felt that it either needed more butter or more cheese because there is some sort of flavor lacking. Considering this is San Francisco, I was expected this place to be pricey and expensive but it really isn't. In comparison to San Jose's Korean restaurant food, 707 Sutter is actually pretty affordable/cheaper. After my table got seated, there was already a wait coming out the door. You try 707 for the first time and it appears to be your typical grungy Korean bar, although quite spacious and you immediately notice the massive, projected music videos on the wall. On your second visit, you start to notice the amazing food selection and develop a craving for the jap chae + soju combination. On your third visit, you realize how nice the waiters are and will have become a more generous tipper. At that point you'll have had a beer too many, and swear to never return again. To start they served a variety of ban chan which was not horrible, but not impressive either. These days the worst thing you can be is "not memorable." Our main entrees however were DELICIOUS! The balance of flavors and textures were all right on point, and I gave my friend Johnny T a big high-five for not picking a loser restaurant. The downside of our meal had to have been the strawberry soju pitcher which was $25. It's a deal when you think about how many drinks you get and for you fellas who are looking to close the deal, this is your perfect vehicle. It tastes like you're drinking kool-aid and it's very easy to get completely wasted. Which of course makes your date more sexually attractive and exponentially more interesting. Our soju had weird chunks of ice in it and the flavor just wasn't there. But I still drank it! My friend and I both got sick after eating here. I've visited 707 many times, until recently I tasted some stale kimchi and bean sprouts. So we didn't eat those side dishes. But we forgot , the soup we had contains a lot of kimchi. That afternoon, my friend and I all got food poisoning from this. While writing this review, it reminded me one time I was eating with another friend. We ordered omelette. It suppose to be golden yellow, but they gave us a brown one. We instantly felt not comfortable with the color. My friend smelled and tried it, the egg wasn't fresh at all. Asked the kitchen to remake for us. The second time was alright. First Korean restaurant after living in the city and (as a non-Korean who isn't too picky) I thought it was comparable to the average Koreatown restaurant in Los Angeles. Service was good, food was tasty and spicy, and got seated (for a table of 2) right when we walked in. I yelped this place and read all the reviews about how good they are. Well we stop by and omg the food is amazing! Not only is it amazing, but the service was quick, we got lucky and got there at 6pm and didn't have to wait in the line. The food also came out quickly. 707 is a great place and I love their food, accessibility, and the fact that they are open late for those nights you just want some hot noodle soup after drinking, BUT everyone should be aware of their billing (I wasn't before!) There is 18% gratuity ALREADY tacked onto your bill before you even give them your card. Regardless of how many people you're there with, it's reliably there, and they swipe your card with the option to tip more. Now, I wouldn't have minded this as much if there had been a fair warning that the 18% gratuity was already included, but when you give them your card, they also have a convenient habit of not returning you the itemized receipt, so it looks like there was never tip included to begin with. I'm all for tipping generously for great service, but I'm also not pleased when I'm scammed out of extra tip unknowingly, so ask for your itemized receipt and make sure you're aware of what's going on! Tipping weirdness aside, the food is great--I always come here for the budae jigae (army stew with sausage, spam, and ramen noodles). The soondooboo (tofu soup) isn't bad but it could use a bit more flavor (flavor, not spiciness). The seafood pancake is delicious, as is the bulgogi. Bulgogi stew was great the one time I tried it, and I will definitely be back! All their flavored sojus are also delicious. This place is a tad expensive for being one of those late-night drunchie places but it's versatility makes it a good spot for either that or a casual meal. They start you off with a nice display of banchan that varies a little depending on what they have. I love their kimchi, and sometimes the japchae comes as an appetizer as well. Both times I've gotten the hot stone bibimbap, which comes with a generous portion of rice, veggies, and the meat of your choice. The ratio of each is perfect, and the rice gets super crispy at the bottom due to the heat of the stone bowl. I've also tried their spicy rice cakes, which come with fish cakes and a slightly sweet and spicy sauce. It's a heavier dish, but exactly the kind of carb-heavy food you want on a cold day. When I heard there was another korean restaurant in town that did not necessitate driving out to the Richmond or Sunset district, I was overjoyed to actually walk on over to the Tendernob on a chill, rainy night. The venue was quite spacious, you can tell the previous restaurant tenants left a series of artwork and decorations behind particularly a water color painting of an African women with bare bosoms. You do not see that everyday in a Korean restaurant! The menu was filled with various options ranging from several rice dishes, rice cake dishes, rice cake ramen dishes, beef stew, seafood stew, you name it, it looks like they have it. Depending on the size of your party, the ban chans are served on a mini platter rather than individual small plates like most Korean restaurants.
