On Friday, I saw a great deal with the restaurant on Facebook. 2 waffles, 2 eggs & a glass of Rose for $8.13 available for dine in & takeout. I ordered 2 of the specials & the sweet potato pie to go. I really like the sugar waffles which has sugar cubes inside the waffle which is top with some strawberries. Eggs are eggs & nothing too special but it was good. I only tasted the frozen Rose because I'm driving around & it is very good. The sweet potato pie was kinda different somewhat, it was a little lumpy. I use to a smooth filling, it was good. This place was a whole vibe. My friend heard great things about this spot and after seeing the pictures, I was ecstatic to go. I was afraid of missing out on the live DJ by going to the lounge, but the host was kind enough to let us sneak a peek at the buffet before we decided on which side we wanted to dine. As soon as I saw the chicken and waffles, I knew where I wanted to sit my behind. The food was on point! The chicken and bacon were perfectly fried and seasoned. My Sista went manic for the mac and cheese. Oh, and when I went to get my second plate of food, I DID notice there was a DJ on the lounge side too. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE provided great service. The Assistant FOH Manager, Jarvis, made sure to greet all of the tables and he explained that Saturdays are a whole different animal and they are heavy on the 90's R&B. If you are ever in the Tampa area and you are looking for a nice brunch spot then check out 7th + Grove. 7th + Grove had two parts to it because on one side you could get your food served to you while on the other side was a buffet style. During this visit I was there for a bachelorette party and we had choose the buffet style. The music that was being played was a nice vibe. It was definitely a chill environment. The food on the buffet was great and the price was reasonable also. We had ordered a pitcher and it was a nice size. One of the girls had ordered a hookah and it was electronic hookah. Wow!!! I've been wanting to visit this place for a while. With all that is going on it's been hard to do much of anything. So thank you 7th and Grove for partnering with Yelp for today's YES! Meal Event. It was worth the drive. It was worth every Penny spent. And I'll be back for sure. The Guilt Trip Nachos with Chicken are amazing. I'm sure they are even better when eaten fresh sitting in the restaurant. But rest assured they hold their own even when you take them to go. The chicken flavor is amazing. Soooo Good. Solid menu options for a great brunch. I don't eat pork so I'm a little more limited to what I can order, but I was still divided when trying to decide what to get. There were four different dishes I was debating between - yes four. That's when you know you have an appealing menu. When we were there, they had a 2 for $7 mimosa deal. The Asian mathematician in me is dying for making this mistake, but we ordered a champagne bottle for $27 to make our own mimosas. If there wasn't the deal, this would be great, because it came out to about six mimosas. However, with the deal six mimosas would have been $21. This is totally our fault and not the restaurant, but I'm writing this to stop anyone from making the same mistake! I would suggest making a reservation using Yelp. It got pretty busy quickly. We were there at 11 a.m. on a Sunday and by about 12:30 p.m. I saw some people waiting. Service was top notch. Our server continued to fill our glasses and was knowledgeable about the menu. She even made sure my friend was happy with a poached egg based on prior experience when people didn't realize the yolk would be so runny. Super proactive. I got the Everyday People. The only reason I'm giving this place four stars instead of five is because I found my dish to be overly salty. The fried okra and the grits were heavily salted, and I love my salt. My friend got the Southern Hospitality and kept raving about it. She said the pork belly was absolutely amazing. If you eat pork, I would recommend getting it just from watching her devour her dish. In the end, with tax/tip, the entire meal came out to about $40. Knowing that the brunch buffet is $35 I would strongly consider it next time. It's definitely pricier than my average brunch, but I think the quality of the food warrants this price tag. The atmosphere is hip and the clientele seems to be groups of young professionals. Although it does not look like much from the street, this cute establishment is such a vibe! Unfortunately for me, the food was pretty hit or miss, and that sort of where it lost its stars. I loved the wall mural and the space design, but there were a few major flaws in our experience. We made a reservation for dinner for 4. Although we had a reservation, we arrived a couple of minutes early, we were still told to wait in the welcome area for a table.... for 15 minutes - and half the restaurant was empty. Anyway after this, we were seated at our table and offered drinks. We asked if they could make any of their cocktails zero proof for our friend who did not drink, but they said no... expect for a mojito. Okay no harm, no foul, but wish they had some more options on that front. Now for the food - I'll go through the drinks, apps, and main I ordered Cocktails (Ari Lenox was good, Dojo Cat was a miss) - Ari Lenox - Peach schnapps +blue curacao + grenadine layered with Moscato, pineapple juice + melon liqueur. This was really good! Huge quantity, and definitely well mixed. - Dojo Cat - Ciroc vodka + watermelon schnapps + watermelon puree + strawberry puree + sour + sprite. Mixologist decided just not to mix the layers, and therefore when you took a first sip, it was STRONG and just not good. We tried it again after mixing it vigorously ourselves and it was much better - but I mean... isn't that a point of buying an expensive cocktail for $14... it was definitely quantity over quality... unfortunately. Appetizers - D'evils - Flight of Deviled Eggs + Reaper/Grove Drizzle + Fried Chicken - this was probably my favorite dish! Super unique and delicious, it was spicy and the chicken was tender, and the deviled eggs were fresh! - Waterfalls - Old Bay Fries topped with Lump Crab Meat, Creamy Cheese Sauce, Green Onions, Diced Tomatoes baked with Mozzarella Cheese + Topped with Smoked Paprika. Fries were good, but the lump crab did not taste fresh I couldn't stomach more than one or two pieces. Main - Let it Whip - Angus Beef Patty + Cheddar cheese + Fried Crispy Onion Rings + Grove Made Mac & Cheese + Pickled jalapenos + Grove made Bacon Jam sandwiched between Garlic Buttered Toasted Brioche Buns. All the ingredients were good and fresh, but the patty was absolutely charred/burnt. I asked for medium cooked, so it was a surprise getting it completely charred. If this is what you going for, I would write that in the description, because some people do not like their food charred, I didn't enjoy it and only ended stomaching half. This was a miss for me. It was a hard one to judge because there were some standouts, but some dishes were just a miss for me. I think if they work on getting all their dishes up to a standard I would definitely visit again because I loved the ambiance, decor and the staff! They did seem understaffed and we did have to wait a lot for simple requests like some extra sauce. Hopefully this is remedied! Also on some nights, they sometimes have a great live music in their lounge space next door that it was really special and groovy! Apparently you need a table for it, but to make reservation on their website, it is very confusing and I wish they had specific reservations for both online or distinct numbers to call. There is also no phone number to reach the restaurant, just the online reservations for the restaurant. Creating a way to distinctly contact each of the establishment would make for a more flawless experiences as opposed to frustration on our part trying to figure this out ourselves which we never did and just ended up making a dinner reservation eventually. read more

Y'all! I'm from NYC (home of lit brunches) and I've been visiting Tampa for a few years now. Never have I experienced a spot like 7th + Grove and it's black owned?! Make sure you visit! I visited this afternoon for brunch with my aunt. We were seated immediately on the dining side (music was too loud in the lounge and don't like hookah unless I'm smoking it so we def appreciated the separation). We each ordered the "Rock the Boat" on the menu. It is catfish, collards, grits, creole sauce, & fried okra. When's the last time you had collards with your brunch?! I cant think of a time either. Really unique twist to the brunch menu, it's definitely not average. Also had a mimosa special 2/$7 which was great too. Love a good drank. All are welcomed too! Jarvis, per usual, went above and beyond to assist with getting us set up with an outside table and having Mayra take care of us! I used to live in Ybor and really love seeing new businesses flourish here and add to the awesomeness of this unique neighborhood. I'm not totally sure what this building was before it became 7th + Grove, but they did an excellent job at giving it a unique character. The decor is all quite lovely. We started off with the Love Galore, which was basically three mac-n-cheese stuffed fritters. While the ingredients had us thinking that this might be spicy, it actually had a decent amount of sweetness to it. 4-stars. My wife and I split two entrees, but technically my dish was the Everyday People aka Shrimp & Grits. This was not a bad rendition of shrimp & grits but not my favorite either. I'd give it 4 stars, but rounding down to 3.5 because of a pet peeve of mine - leaving the tails on the shrimp in the dish. This forces me to either cut the tails off and miss out on part of the meat or stick my hand in my food and make a mess while peeling them off. I've never understood why restaurants don't remove the tails beforehand. 3.5 stars. My wife's entree was the fried chicken and french toast. This was some of the best fried chicken either of us have ever had. We were marveling at how it's even possible to produce chicken that's so juicy it almost doesn't feels like we're dreaming. I've only had chicken and waffles, but french toast is equally as amazing as an accompaniment. I can't see ever returning to 7th + Grove for brunch and not ordering this. 5-stars. I like restaurant section to enjoy the food. They have southern food. The price was reasonable at the mark. We have rock the boat. This dish is smoke and seared Triple Tail fish. The blackened is spicy. But I like it. It accompanying the collard green and Gouda grit. I like the collard green. Very southern. Our second dish is the Never Too Much. This is the southern steak with frite. It is Kansas Strip steak. The steak is well marinated and grilled correctly to order. The bbq sauce is nice to dip. Good pink center. Meat quality is good. I was so excited to try this place, we finally made it out for Sunday brunch. Ambiance, 10! We sat on the side with music and buffet. Music was good and the vibe was great! That's where the good ended, boo! (Sad face). Buffet was not stocked well and I couldn't get any breakfast items (French toast, eggs, bacon as an example). The lady just told me no ‍.... Other food on the buffet was just ok, not great. Plasticware made eating crab legs very difficult, and there were no napkins. The dress is a mix--skanky, chic and everything in between. Crowd leans to 20ish, but there were kids and more mature guests there, too. We were all pleased with our selections and drinks. The decor is fabulous! Wait staff was attentive. You do have to pay for parking. They are one block from the free trolley. The bathroom had foul sulfur smell. 7th + Grove is a great addition to the Tampa food and lounge scene. The space is beautifully decorated and divided into two sections: a restaurant on one side and a bar/lounge on the other side. The restaurant serves up hip, modern, inspired, southern cuisine. The menu (designed by Executive Chef James) offers something for every palate and dietary restriction. Each dish is named after a song, which is cool. Note: they also have a separate brunch menu and lounge/late night menu. The food is really, really good. We tried Get Your Roll On (Spring Roll filled with Collard greens) and Awaken My Love (Chicken Lollies) for the appetizers and Can We Talk (Blackened Turkey breast entree) and Let's Stay Together (Fried Chicken entree) for the main course. The service in the restaurant and lounge could both be better. The server, Dee, was very good and stood out, but generally speaking the staff lacked knowledge of the menus. While there were a lot of people working, they didn't seem to have clear direction. It's a new business and hopefully the issues will be worked out over time. In terms of the lounge, they seem to have special events all the time so be sure to check out their Facebook page. All in all, I really like 7th + Grove. My girlfriend and I were visiting Florida and wanted to try this place out. We absolutely lovedddddddd our experience here! By far one of our favorite places that we visited on our trip. The staff is full of life and does a great job of ensuring everyone feels welcomed and are enjoying their overall experience. I adore the personality in this place. It isn't "cookie-cuter" and everyone who works there seems to truly enjoy coming to work and do what they do. The establishment is beautiful. The murals/paintings make a statement without clashing with the rest of the decor and the music keeps you moving and grooving while enjoying your food and/or drinks. The food was delicious. We had the collard cigarillos, buffalo shrimp, the grove salad and the shrimp and grits. First off, YUMMMMMMY! I loved the smoky flavor in the collards as well as the sauce on the side, the buffalo shrimp was breaded and seasoned just right, the grove salad made my soul happy and was perfectly dressed (not oversaturated) and the shrimp and grits had a great balance of flavors. I'm not even typically a grits fan, but I ate every single bite. Jackie was our server and was very attentive and friendly from start to finish. She had answers to any questions and made wonderful suggestions. Chef Rudy was very personable and had a calmness about him. You could tell that he really loves what he is doing and the concept they are bringing to life. He came by our table to see how things were, gave suggestions and gave us a tour of the place after our meal. Bevin (still such a cute name) was our bartender when we went to check out the other side with Chef and she was super sweet as well. (So we live on the east coast cocoa beach side) we have yet to find an establishment like this one, on the east. So anyway; service: our server was extremely knowable and knew the menu well. August 7th- We are visiting from Chi and heard about the oxtails. Let me start off saying my food was delicious. The place was busy AF but we didn't have to wait. Now for the sad news...no oxtails. I got the ribeye and it was delicious. Seasoned, juicy and tender. It was served with potatoes, and a gravy. Ok, so I have to break my review down because it's very hard to give this place a flat out rating. Pros: Ambiance and vibe is 5 stars. When I go to brunch, this is the type of spot I want to be in. The music was great. The decor wasn't over the top, but still picturesque. I didn't get stuck-up millennial vibes at all; families were there, friends, dates, it was very welcoming and everyone was having a good time. This is definitely a spot that you could dress sexy casual for, but also it's perfectly fine to be dressed down. I like that they have two sides, one for more of the party crowd and the others for the families without babysitters lol. Customer service was great. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Jamaica was my server and she was sweet as a button. The man at the front was awesome, didn't get his name but he had the high top fade. Cons: Our drinks took forever. In fact, I never got my drinks even after asking twice. The $27 bottle of SPARKLING WINE to share is absolutely ridiculous and I'm coming from D.C. You can get bottomless on the strip for less and for $27, they should be offering bottomless. The mixed cocktails left much to be desired, so just keep it simple. The food was hit or miss, as in some meals were good and others were not. My shrimp and grits were cool but the pancakes were terrible. The wings tasted like they boiled them and the seasoning didn't stick. If the drinks were flowing, I could definitively give this place 4 stars and slide on the average food. However, ambiance cannot save this place alone. Seems like they are understaffed because I was there when it first opened, so I can't imagine by mid afternoon. I'd probably try this place again, just to experience the day party. For dining, I'd skip the drinks and hope the best for an entree. read more

My wife and I attended this black own restaurant that is absolutely AMAZING!!! We came for my bday weekend and had a great time. Staff is very friendly and sociable. Food and drinks is out of this world. We came during Happy Hour and had a blast. The catfish is to die for, the devil eggs is amazing and the get Your MF roll on was fantasist! Definitely a 10/10. My friends and I stopped in on a Friday afternoon. I have visited 7th + Grove prior but I'll try anything twice. Overall same thing--they are understaffed! You'll be waiting to get seated, long wait times to order...even when the restaurant is empty. The host/waiters aren't really friendly, don't expect to be greeted. What works is the ambiance, nice music and modern atmosphere. The food is good, over priced drinks. I ordered All About the Benjamins. read more
