as someone who moved to charleston recently and has been nervous about venturing into public during such scary times, it was a breath of fresh air to dine somewhere downtown and not feel unsafe. this was the best shrimp po boy i've ever had - such a perfect balance of textures and everything tasted super fresh. the chips were great, too, just maybe too many. the best part, however, was dessert. the limoncello mascarpone cake was literally the perfect dessert. not too sweet, with just the right amount of raspberry sauce and fresh whipped cream, i don't feel like my stomach is going to burst like i usually do after most desserts. our server, eric, was awesome! great recommendations and very knowledgeable about the menu, and not overbearing. we sat outside and it's just the most aesthetically pleasing patio. will definitely return soon - won't be able to resist that cake for long! read more

Went here with my family (all adults) and loved it. Must get the biscuits, they were fresh and melted in your mouth. I had the she crab soup and crab cake. The soup was a pinch salty but still great and the crab cake was delicious, it sat on a bed of roasted corn and bacon pieces. We also had the caesar salad and it was amazing. We had eaten at 82 Queen many years ago. Revisiting Charleston, we decided to stop in for a quick light lunch. We found that the dining area still has that authentic old Charleston charm. For a light lunch, we chose a few appetizers, not a full entrée. We ordered two cups of the She Crab soup, one order of Fried Green tomatoes, and one order of Carolina Crab Cake to share. That amount was a perfect portion for a light lunch. The She Crab soup was the best She Crab we have had at any place, any where, at any time. It was wonderful years ago but we think it is even better now. It should not be missed. The crab cakes were also fantastic, not fishy, mostly lump crab meat instead of a bunch of mayonnaise like you often find at other venues. It was the best crab cakes we have had in years. A good crab cake is hard to find! The Fried Green tomatoes were also very good. The combo with the bacon and pimento cheese makes this common southern fare a bit more interesting. 82 Queen continues its reign as our favorite Charleston restaurant. My husband and I came here on a Friday night for dinner with my 2.5 year old. We enjoyed majority of the items we ordered off the menu. We started with a cup of the She Crab Soup which we thought was a little too thick for our taste and Fried Oysters. The Fried Oysters were delicious. We wished there was more oysters and less Mac&Cheese in the dish. But our daughter did enjoy the mac&cheese. For our entrees, my husband ordered the Fish & Grits which he enjoyed a lot and I ordered the Jambalya. The fish (flounder) was cooked to perfection in my husband's dish. I also enjoyed my Jambalya. Both entrees were large in size. We also ordered a side of Brussels Sprouts on the recommendation of our server but we were not a fan because it was drenched in cheese. Went in there really looking forward to something I saw on their menu online. Turns out it was only offered for Brunch and I was there when brunch was not offered. I glanced through the menu, and when I ask about a few other options the waiter really was of no help nor did he seem to really care. He offered no other suggestions for things people liked on the menu or what might be comparable to what I came in for. I simply told him I would go eat someplace else. I wanted to tip him for taking up his table. So I asked for a bill for the sweet tea I had ordered. He came back with the check and after signing the slip with a few dollars tip I realized the man didn't do anything for me; he didn't even offer a togo cup for the $3 tea I just sipped. So I went to the other slip and gave him $0.50; more than than the man deserved. Was not impressed with the service here. I won't be back. read more

What a lovely place, the rooms are eclectic, the food is spectacular and the staff is friendly, attentive, and all I wanted with fine dining. She crab soup reviews are all true, velvety texture, sherry on top adds just the right extra. I had tomato salad, not what I expected, a single serving tomato pie with a side salad, it was delicious. My husband had the fried green tomato and ham sandwich. It had it all, crunchy, sweet, salty, tangy, spicy and a lot of ham and the pimento cheese. I think he expected something a little more delicate, but it was hearty and he loved the sandwich and ate every bite. With the wine, a delicate Pinot Grigio, we spent a Southern afternoon, not rushed, enjoyable and well worth it. read more

Stopped in on a whim for a Christmas shopping lunch with my daughter and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the fried green tomatoes which were outstanding and my daughter had the Queen's Club which was so big she had to take it home. The potato salad that came with her sandwich was really the best I had had in quite a while. I want to give a special shout out to my server, Jaime, who was so pleasant and entertaining, she really made our lunch an event instead of just eating. 82 Queens is a true gem! It's location really cool place down a brick alley and given it's an in a large old house makes the atmosphere very special. A 300-year-old address nestled in downtown Charleston's historic French Quarter for the past 34 years. We were warmly greeted and immediately seated as we did have reservations. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Given we are from Oregon we had to try the fried green tomatoes, OMG they were delicious! I had the French cut pork chop and my wife had the Carolina Crab cakes which we both totally enjoyed. Excellent food. If you are looking for an excellent place to dine go to 82 Queens. My fiancé and I went to 82 queen for date night during our visit. We had the fried green tomato and bbq shrimp and grits for an appetizer. Both were tasty. I don't love foods drowning in sauce but if I had one request, just a little more bbq sauce would have been great. It was very much only a hint of bbq. The "muddled creek" (like an "old fashioned" was ok. I enjoyed the first bit of it a lot until the ice melted. It had too much ice. For dinner I had a scallop special with risotto that was enjoyable! The fiancé had the "French cut pork chop" with a peach chutney which was excellent! It had good flavor and was cooked just right! The collard greens were some of the best I've ever had as it had an excellent balance of spicy, sweet, and saltiness. The sweet potato soufflé was on point as well. As much as I enjoyed my scallops, I thought the chops was even better. To top it all off our server Sammy did a great job and the ambiance very nice. They did a great job using the space. I know it has to be hard being away from your family on Thanksgiving but you would have never known, he looked happy to be there. So glad we came here during restaurant week! We had a wonderful meal! They only let you order off the restaurant week menu but there were plenty of good options. I started with the she crab soup which was good but would have preferred the sherry to be left out because it was a little sweet for my taste. The fiancee got the fried green tomatoes and they were crispy and delicious. For my main course I got the lamb and pork meatloaf which came with mashed potatoes, corn, and asparagus. All were amazing! The fiancee got chicken bog and it was better than any bog I've ever had. Lots of juicy flavors and I really liked the sausage in it as well. I was pretty stuffed at this point but we got both desserts to try. I liked the limoncello cake because it was super light. My wife and I eat here for our anniversary. The service was exceptional, everyone helped make our meal memorable, even other servers. We shared the fried green tomatoes, prepared to perfection. The red sauce was fantastic with a sweet taste. My wife had the crab cakes and I had the barbecue shrimp and grits. The barbecue flavor was not overpowering. The rice with the crab cakes was spicy but my wife likes a little heat. We finished the meal by sharing a pecan pie. When in the South you have to eat pecan pie. We visited for dinner on a weeknight in June. The service was great, and the food was delicious. We had fried green tomatoes served over grits for an appetizer - excellent! We had lunch here today and were able to sit at the patio away from guests for safety. Britni was our waitress and was very attentive and nice! Our food came quickly and was excellent, I really loved the potato salad too! My only critique is that one of the hostesses wore her mask on her chin 90% of the time while all of the other staff was masked. It felt disrespectful, not only to the rules, but to the other staff working in the heat and wearing a mask as instructed. As we were leaving, a waiter took the temp of guests as they were entering and I never saw the hostesses do that. Overall we had a lovely visit and enjoyed our food but the hostess has some risky behavior that could be dangerous during this time. read more

In town on a girls trip, 82 Oueen, set the twelve of us up in a private room. Our waiter Drake could not have been nicer or more informative. He told us some of the things they were known for, like the She Crab soup and their crab cakes, which my friend and I had. Both were wonderful, especially the She Crab. All the rest of us had many different things and it was all good. The wine and drinks were great, too. The bar area and outdoor patio all looked fun and had the old world feel you want as part of Charleston experience. It was just lovely. read more

Absolutely disgusting! Went to check in for a reservation made for 7:30 and was told that we were early and weren't going to be seated till later. I then went to go check my confirmation and it was for 7:30 when I told the hostess she had then told me, "oh the manager does this all the time without telling me" with no sympathy. Our waitress then came to serve us our drinks and served my dad alcohol after he had asked for a non-alcoholic drink plus he is one year sober. Once she came back to the table, and he had told her his drink had alcohol in it, she explained that they don't make that drink non-alcoholic but once we showed the menu to her where it clearly states they do she just responded that she would go and get it re-made, again with no sympathy. Finally, the food came and everything was cold and had no flavor my steak was burnt with charcoal all around it. Will not be going back and definitely would not recommend it! read more

We came to 82 Queen off a recommendation from Southern Curls and Pearls. We were not disappointed. The cheddar biscuits were hot and melted in the mouth. We had a cup of the She Crab Soup, and it was noticeably better than the same soup from Poogan's Porch. My wife ordered the Barbecue Shrimp and Grits, and she absolutely loved them and would recommend them. The bbq sauce added something unique that made it stand out. I ordered the ribeye steak with asparagus, and was really impressed. For steak to not really be their thing, it was excellent. Stephen was a great host and server. We will be back! read more

Found this spot during a weekend get away to Charleston. Landed up sitting in the green house up back, and totally loved it - covered glass top, open sides, fans and excellent service. The rusty bull brewery beers - which I believe is operated by the same owners - are definitely worth a try. The peach passion cocktail is a must have as well. Had the she crab soup and crab cakes for appetizers - was really really tasty. The pork chops was cooked to perfection with a really tasty apple pecan sauce, greens and sweet potato fries! The Jambalaya was a perfect blend of spice, sausage and a variety of sea food! Definitely recommend both. Not too dressy... but has a classy feel. read more
