The Hispanic girl with black and purple hair named Victoria is rude and has an attitude. She hung up on me when I called and I wasn't even done talking. She said that they don't take phone orders for drinks unless it's more than 10 or if the place is "dead." I wanted to order 4 drinks and told her that I was already on my way. Is it so hard to just do someone a small favor? The reason some of us call is because we have kids in the car and don't want to wait long once we get there. I was going to go somewhere else but decided to still go there since I wanted to see who this rude girl was. There were only 2 other people inside waiting for drinks so it wasn't busy at all. Also, they had a sign that said they were short on bread because of supply issues so there was hardly any bread. I waited about 10-15 minutes once I got there when I could've just been in and out. I got boba in my drinks but the boba didn't taste good. It was not chewy and felt like it just fell apart, tasting very weird. I didn't get much boba in my drinks either. One of my drinks fell while I was walking back to my car because the drinks were not put in the cup holder tightly. I usually don't write reviews but this one needs to be heard. I'm a regular at this location (I go there literally at least four times a week) but the service I got just now is unacceptable. I paid for a cake and two drinks but forgot to scan my phone (since I downloaded the app and am a rewards member). While my card was inserted, I asked if I could scan my phone and redeem those points since, I made a big purchase. I asked if I could cancel that transaction and start a new one and the girl on the counter said," no. I can't cancel the transaction." Uh....what?!?!??? She then continued to tell me to go to the link on the bottom of the receipt to redeem my points. I tried twice and it didn't work. So I went up to her and asked her how to do it and another coworker said, "I don't know. Just call customer service" Seriously???? Aren't you there to service customers?? I'm so upset and most likely will not be returning to this location. The rude girl's name was Jessica. If she's on the counter, don't expect her to be helpful or nice. This isn't the only time I've interacted with her. Both times, I left the bakery in a foul mood and thought she's really rude. People like her should not be the first person that customers see when they enter the bakery and should not work customer service. Just my two cents. Take it or leave it but just know, I warned you. Decent location, the usual selection of coffee/tea and pastries, however, this review isn't about the above. Below is a letter to 85C corporate to document my experience with their cake department... rather than try to paraphrase or mince words, this is it in its entirety. I am writing to express my disappointment with a cake reservation I made with the 85 C Bakery located in Arcadia. I have been coming to this location very frequently since it opened for drinks and snacks, but this weekend was the first time I reserved a cake. I reserved the cake on Saturday 24 hours in advance, to be picked up on Sunday. Your staff kindly asked if I would like a message written on the cake, so I specified a custom message, along with candles and plates which were offered. On Sunday morning, your staff called me and told me you were out of the type of cake that I reserved, with the explanation that "it has been more popular than usual, so we sold out." If this is the case, what is the point of making a reservation? I had expected that as your chefs receive orders/reservations, they bake the cake in accordance to the orders received. What this means to me is that either your cakes must not be made on-site, or else you would not "sell out" of a cake that was reserved one day in advance or your cafe accidentally sold the cake that I had reserved. Neither are acceptable. Your staff was polite and apologetic, and offered to refund my money or provide me with an alternative cake. I opted for the latter. When I went to the store to pick up the alternative cake, the cashier who helped me was polite and friendly, but certainly needed additional training. He didn't know where to find my reservation and had to ask someone for help. The cake was brought out without a custom message written on top. He took it to the back after I pointed that out, but came back sheepishly and asked if I would accept a chocolate happy birthday sign as an alternative. Either the bakers couldn't write it, or were too busy to do it. As I was getting ready to leave, I checked my bag, and there were no candles and no plates. I had to go back to the cashier and was then told your cafe had run out of candles (this also means none was set aside for my reserved order despite the fact that I reserved this 24 hours in advance). Again, your staff was apologetic. I did get the plates, which was the only part of my order which was fulfilled as reserved, although if I had not personally checked my order, this would not have been the case. When we cut the cake that evening for my dad's birthday, your filling was frozen. Initially my family thought it was an ice cream cake, but no - it was just still frozen. I am so disappointed with my experience this weekend. If you offer reservations, please honor those reservations, and perhaps provide some additional training to your staff. To their credit, your staff was polite and apologetic, but as a bakery that claims to have the philosophy of "5 star quality," you need to do better for your customers. I will not be ordering any cakes from your bakery again, especially since the cake that I received was frozen and could be obtained from a grocery store. This review will be updated if we hear back from 85C, and again, is not to document the coffee, tea, or pastries, but rather our disappointing experience with the cake department. read more

Glad this bakery opened up near me. What I originally thought would cause a backup in traffic due to its popularity I have seen at other locations somehow didn't come to fruition here. The staff are real nice. The store is kept very clean, even before the pandemic. The selection is good. The speed of service is great and availability of parking in the back is great. You can guarantee if you know what you want, you can be in and out within 15 min. Because it is often not busy, I will ask the cashier to start a drink order for me beforehand as I quickly grab my bakery items to pay. Again very accommodating staff. Favorite cake... mango creme brulee! Last purchase? 8 individual slices of cake packed in it's individual boxes delivered to one family for TG. So if anyone wants to keep things "COVID safe", this is great way to do it. read more

This bakery style where we use tongs to pick up each item we want is a little iffy during a pandemic, so I think this could definitely be improved with new restrictions. However, everything else about 85 is great! I'm glad they have a new location in Arcadia. My favorite drink is the sea salt caramel coffee and my go-to bread is the brioche. I love the brioche so much. A close second favorite is the coffee bread. It tastes so great when you toast it just a little so the coffee coated crust on the outside is a little crispy. I fell in love with their boba milk tea bun, which is only suitable if you like sweet desserts. I didn't expect to find a block of tapioca inside the bun rather than several tapioca balls. Very inconvenient ordering cake from here. I needed to order a cake for son's Sunday morning 9am class located near Target in Alhambra. I went to the register and I said I want to order 10 inch Mango cake. The girl behind register looked at the price chart and then try to ring me up. She never said anything about they only have 8 inches and not 10 inches. I only found that out when I saw the register screen showing 8 and I said I want 10 inches not 8. After I was told they only have 8 inches, I decided to get it and after I swiped my card, the lady then told me the earliest time for cake pickup is 9am. This is my first time I heard of a bakery have to wait at 9am an hour after they opened at 8am for cake pickup. If I knew, I would just come in and buy it instead of ordering a cake when the cake is not even custom made in the first place. I had to drop my son off in Alhambra in the morning and then drive back to Arcadia to pick up a cake. I can see that if you need to order and pick up a cake in the morning for work, this is definitely not a place to go to. read more

Great that a location opened near me but was not impressed with their bread. Bread didn't seem fresh and their savory bReads just lacked that light and airy feel to the bread. The bottoms are always burnt when I come in also. And this was twice that I got a bread from here so there's no excuse. Bread tastes pretty old but I can't say the same for their sweet breads. I think 85 might be known more for sweet and my friend said she enjoyed the taro bun and they actually put a huge amount of taro filling but since I'm not a sweet person I have decided that 85 is not for me. read more

I bought a 8" cake here earlier today and I told the cashier it's for a birthday. But just now we are ready to blow the candle found there's no candle at all. YAY~ super glad that 85C finally opened up in Arcadia! I always made a long trip to Alhambra just to get some of their fresh bread! Parking isn't too bad here on the weekdays. The service is really good and the line moves relatively fast. They have a kiosk for you to order drinks and cake if you aren't planning on buying any bread. It makes the line a lot shorter and you are able to get your drinks and cake a lot quicker. I haven't been here on the weekend yet, so I can't say that it doesn't get busy. It's located right next to Momo Paradise and across the street is Sharetea. Definitely coming here more often for my bread now and for my morning tea! read more

I'm so happy this place opened up so close to my house, it's almost dangerous LOL but it's like your standard 85. Except I find that this place has more space in terms of seating and allowing you to actually sit and chat with your friends! The bakery area is smaller and more cramped, but all of the standard breads and pastries are there. The staff members are friendly! My only complaint is when we ordered drinks, they didn't call out our number they just left it on the pick up station so I had to check on it myself. read more

Ordered drinks and stood around waiting over 10 minutes just to find out that all 5 employees are just standing around chatting and no one is paying attention to the drink tickets that were coming out. After spending 30+ dollars at this bakery I asked for a cup of water. They said that I would be able to get water at the drink pick up area. I asked the barista for a cup of and he told me to hold on. After waiting for around 10 minutes, he told me that there were no more water cups... why didn't he tell me ahead of time? Very unprofessional. I asked him if he was able to give me a regular drink cup and he told me to pay for it... very disappointed, Pasadena was way better. I have been going to 85 degree bakery in Alhambra and I love their pork sung and milk bun. I was so excited that they opened this location in Arcadia because it's a bit closer to home! However, I am very disappointed lately because #1, they are not very responsive with their phone calls. I have not been able to reach them on their line. #2, I normally don't get this bigger milk bun with powdered sugar, but today they ran out of their regular milk bun, so I gave this one a try. I ate this during the car ride home at night with my friend. We both felt this hardened block in this center, thinking it's a special bun. When we got home, I took a closer look under the light and it looks like unmelted butter or milk! So I popped it in the microwave for 20 seconds and it melted. It tasted pretty good after it melted, but I feel disgusted that I ate those blocks of unmelted butter. I really hope management looks into this problem. I would call them to let them know, but they don't answer their phone. It also feels unfair that I have to use my gas to drive back to tell them about this issue. read more

I'm disappointed with this location, specifically in product quality. I bought some ham&cheese bread and the bread was undercooked, it left very eggy smell aftertaste, which is super super bad. However on the garlic bread, it was overcooked, the bottom of the bread burnt and bitter when i ate it, i had to throw it away. during the pandemic of covid-19, make sure you ask the cashier to wear mask but not gloves, some of them do, some of them dont. read more

The blueberry dream filling was frozen and the cake did not hold up well after removing the outer plastic shell to cut. Came during the grand opening weekend just for free swag of bag and cup. Now that there are so many near us the hype is not the same when the closest one was in Covina. It is approximately 7:15 am and are approximately 27 varieties of bread available for purchase. If a store and/or a BAKERY is said to be open at 7 am. Then all merchandise should be made available. There customer service and attitude was horrific, awful, and they hired undisciplined staff. I ordered a strawberry milk tea with boba and they forgot the boba so I had to go back and ask for boba. They didn't even bother to make a new drink and they pored it into a new cup and it had very little boba, little ice, and no strawberry. When hubs and I saw that 85 Degrees was going to be arriving in Arcadia AND walking distance from our house, we were so excited! I grew up going to Chinese bakeries so for me it was very nostalgic. I will say that their breads aren't as good as some of the other bakeries in the SGV, my favorite being the hot dog bun, but it'll do to satisfy my occasional cravings. :) We have tried both their sweet and savory buns and they're all pretty good. Not too buttery and not too sweet. However, their drinks are what hit home for me. Last night I wanted a hot drink since it was cold outside so I decided to try their sea salt foam chocolate milk tea. It's been 19 hours and I'm still thinking about it. The saltiness and the slight sweetness of the milk were the perfect combination. They also used real chocolate in it, which made it even better.
