I moved back home here in Arcadia recently and I gotta say this place is the best spot to have opened up in the last 10-15 years on Duarte Road; trust me, this is coming from someone who went to Dana Middle School and Arcadia High down the blocks. I used to spend an insurmountable amount of time hanging around Duarte Rd after school as a kid looking for some quality stuff to buy and there was never really anything good around...If this was open back in the day, I can tell you I'd be spending my entire monthly allowance here. Pastries are really tasty and great quality, not stale and lazily made like some other Asian bakeries. You can easily find pastries for under $2 here. They also have some really unique items I haven't seen elsewhere like matcha-flavored or mango-flavored bun-like pastry items...were so good. But most surprisingly is how great the milk tea is here and also for just around $3-4. I never thought a bakery would make milk tea this good, simple/straightforward with legitimate tea flavor (their green milk tea is my fav) unlike all the other presumptuous boba joints that have been popping up around the area charging overcomplicated, overpriced drinks that don't even taste that good. The service was also great every time I have been here, no issues whatsoever. I've been here like 5 times in the past 2 months and I'm going to be coming every week once this pandemic settles down. Quite pleased with this location. Even though they're low on ingredients due to the pandemic, but this location still has some of my favorites. Picked up multi-grain toast, honey cake, salted butter bread and iced sea salt coffee. Been to the Alhambra & West Covina location within a few weeks time span, but both offered very little selection & extremely low on breads & baked goods. I also had tried delivery but again Porto's and Berolina bakery did not offer that . So, I chose 85C bakery, which also did not have the delivery option but in contrast to the others was easy, offered free choices of date and time, and had a straightforward pickup. There was an empty customer same level parking garage, and the bakery staff helped carrying the goods to the car. The food items as such were of excellent quality. I came here last month during the time that my hubby was at a doctor's appointment. I thought I'd try and find us a snack and maybe some tea. I ordered two drinks: one of them was a flavored tea and the other was a fancier milk tea drink with what looked like caramel swirled in or something. I wasn't sure what it is that I'd ordered for my hubby. He likes the more "complicated" drinks. Haha. His was made wonderfully and he was so pleased. I, on the other hand, had asked for a particular level of sweetness but instead once I tasted my drink, it wasn't sweetened at all. I asked I they could remake it or add a sweetener to it and maybe put it into a different cup so it could be re-sealed. . . nope. Gee, that wasn't cool. I purchased a few baked goods, one of them sort of like a strawberry shortcake. My kiddo gobbled that cake slice up. They kept on telling me how soft the cake was and how good the strawberries were. Awesome. My hubby likes all their breads and rolls and things. I got a coconut and raisin twist I think it was for my Mom. She loved that it wasn't plain coconut and that it wasn't plain raisin. It was a good mix of both. I got one of the buns that had a hot dog inside of it and another that was a ham and cheese croissant. I had a flaky apple tart/danish. It was delish with the chopped almonds on top. Everything is very affordable and fresh. I always look forward to my visits to 85. It was just really unfortunate that my drink order couldn't have been corrected. Otherwise, everything else was very nice. The clerk was especially nice in adding a few last minute items to my order. That was especially nice. Parking was a tad confusing for me when I first visited. I ended up parking across the street, free street parking. There is a lot that I adjacent to the business like building that houses 85 degrees but I was just unfamiliar and didn't care to figure it out at the time. One thing that I will make sure to do too the next time I visit, I was waiting outside. Their doors were closed. I figured the doors were closed because there might be a store associate who would come and let me know if/when I could come in. I thought they were at their max number of ppl allowed in the store at one point. So, I waited outside probably looking like a fool. Eventually one of the associates came to the door and asked me to come in and apologized up and down for not having come to the door sooner. I explained my reasoning and they said that it was tough for ppl to see into the store sometimes because the windows are tinted. So, they just have to either be better at letting their customers know when they are waiting outside if they need to wait or if they can come on in or they will have to figure out some other method. I think their cakes are very good, there are varieties of cakes you can choose from, like strawberry, mousse, mango, chocolate flavour. Just like any other 85C locations. Although there is a noticeable change in what they manage because of the pandemic, I wish they found more ways to enforce social distancing. The front door said that only 5 customers were allowed in, and while I was inside a swarm of customers walked in and it didn't seem like the staff really cared. Not to mention, its already hard to keep a distance from one another when the self-serve bread area is kind of cramped. This 85 is decent. Covered parking is the biggest plus, but I feel like the selection of bread is not as much as West Covina location. It's a great option for a quick grab and go breakfast. My go to is always the hot dog bun. The store is always clean and welcoming. The staff is fine. Nothing that would make me say they're friendly nor rude. They do quick check outs even when people are buying a mountain of bread. So that's a win in my book. read more

I love that this location is so close to work, but I am disappointed in the customer service here. Since its been open, I been in here a handful of times, each time for different items and unfortunately, the customer service has been lacking. Here is a list of my experiences: - ordered a drink, and I had to wait extra 15 mins, because the person who made the drinks decided to make the big drink order that was placed after me.. I ended up late for work - they ran out of clean tongs, I asked for some, they told me its on its way out, but it never came, I left without buying, I didn't want to stick my hands in the containers - too much chit chatting with their friends, I had to wait around to be rung up while the little ladies had their catch up session - got my drink but it was just ice, even tho I asked for little ice, can't help but to feel they did it on purpose Will i return, yes, given it so close to work, I will try again, I really wanted to chalk all my experiences to the place being new, but at the same time, these people should have trained. read more

They have a lot of different kinds of delicious breads, great drinks, and some very beautiful cakes that you can choose from!! It's nice to have 85C Bakery conveniently located about 5 mins from where I live but the customer service here sucks. The girl that works behind the counter looks like she was mad at the entire world and seems to really hate her job. The male cashier didn't even bother to acknowledge me aside from ringing up my purchase. No hello, thank you... nothing. Just rang me up and handed me my receipt. They had just barely opened for 30 mins when I walked in so I really doubt they were tired from working. Got home and was excited to start eating my bread, when I took out my receipt and noticed that the guy behind the counter charged me for an extra bread. Always make sure to check your receipt people, they might sneak in an extra charge. I purchased chocolate chip cookies, choco cookie bun, matcha choco bun, and two potatoes croquette. The choco cookie bun at first bite tasted okay and reminded me of cookies and cream flavor. However, as I kept eating it, it just didn't taste as good as the first bite. The top seems like a chocolate shell on top of the bread with it being coated with crumbs, which is really messy and hard to eat. I think they should have incorporated more of a chocolate flavor within the bread than to have a chocolate shell on top. The bread also seems a bit dry. That matcha choco bun was whatevers to me too. The matcha flavor wasn't that strong and I was expecting more of a chocolate flavor with this bread too. There was just a small spread of chocolate chips within the bread mixed with the matcha cream. Not a fan. The chocolate chip cookies were better than the other two. It was really soft, moist, and had a slight doughy texture to it. I believe they might have mixed in some oatmeal or something similar to the mix too, which I don't mind. I'm more likely to get this again, but not all the time. The potato croquette was something I actually enjoyed. Luckily, it was also buy one, get 50% off. I only purchased two, but regretted getting the sweets instead of more of this. The inside is like mashed potatoes mixed with corn and I don't know what else, but all I can say is that I would go there just for this. read more

For those of you who are unfamiliar with 85°C, it's popular chain of bakeries that sell a wide variety of Asian pastries, cakes, and drinks. If I were to compare it to other bakeries around the area, I'd say it's similar to Sunmerry Bakery and less traditional/old fashioned than JJ Bakery. The pastries are pretty solid, but nothing particularly mind blowing compared to other spots. Compared to the other 85°C locations, it's consistent with the rest bc they all tend to taste the same LOL. I recommend the Hokkaido cheese tarts! read more

Today we were celebrating my grandma's 88th birthday and bought a coffee brulee cake for her. I've never had issues with 85 degree cakes from other locations in the past so I thought this was going to be a winner. I was so stunned when I took a bite of my slice only to find that the cake was super dry!! Even my betty crocker box mix would come out better than this. It tastes like its been sitting in the fridge for dayyssss. My whole family was fuming b/c we were so excited to eat the cake. I had purchased King grapefruit green tea three times here(cuz that's my favorite drink from other 85 degree) and None of it taste right. First time the honey was all down in the bottom. You can customize the sweetness and ice levels, but I like the normal sweetness with less ice so you can buy a bunch and keep it for a few days in the fridge for later. If you like egg tart, they have the best around this location area! It is a somewhat average Asian bakery. Bread goods are typically what you would find in any Asian bakery (like bolo buns). They are not better nor worse than any other Asian bakeries. I am disappointed in their cakes though. I have tried different cakes from time to time. Their cakes never cease to un-impress me. Think alot of whipped cream with fruit pieces but never have strong intended flavors (like tiramisu does not taste like a traditional tiramisu , or mango brulee does not taste like creme brulee but a light hint of mango with lots of whipped cream) I wouldn't buy cakes from this place anymore, perhaps bread goods if I feel like it. read more

They only sell it in packs of 2 but the price is for each tart. This is super deceptive and pretty expensive for egg tarts.
