Mango creme brulee special mother's day cake $39
    Diane T.

They have the BEST mango creme brulee cake ever! No one's mango cake compares to theirs. It's light, fluffy, has the perfect amount of sweetness that makes you feel like you're fine indulging in its sinful delicousness. The tiramisu is delicious too, although I don't recommend if you're serving children...because of the coffee flavored lady fingers!

This is the 85*C Bakery at Waterford Shopping Center in San Jose. This is a small self-service bakery, with no cafe area. I was here years ago, and the place appears to have been remodelled. It now has a larger counter area for serving coffee and drinks, and selling cakes. The tables and coffee bar were removed. I was there on a Wednesday, at around 5pm. You walk in, grab a tray, and make your selections. The items available were limited. My favorites like egg tarts and butterfly cookies weren't there. So I picked a coconut twist, chocolate roll, and strawberry danish. Everything was fresh and delicious. So I will return if I'm in the area. Lots of free parking, and it's near the freeway.

I stopped by on my way back from the gym. It was an impulsive decision, as I was craving some sweets. This 85 location is small - and since it was right before a holiday - very crowded. I thought I would be in and out in about 10 minutes, but I was there for close to 25 minutes. Selecting my items was quickish, but waiting to pay was long. The kiosk for cakes/drinks was broken, so everyone was in line. There were also a ton of people trying to pick up their orders online and there just weren't enough workers. Not their fault - but having two people work one register (training someone?) and/or wandering off from the register to do something else when there's tons of people waiting - that wasn't very customer friendly. I came before noon, so I thought the selection would be decent. I was disappointed. Again, maybe it's the holiday weekend and whatnot, but many of what I usually get were gone. The experience was made worse because some kids were running around and grabbing things (and sometimes putting them back) right in front of people who were there first. Parents weren't paying attention and staff was overwhelmed with customers. Overall, I might try this location again on a quieter day (because I love the pastries!) - but it doesn't make me want to go out of my way to come.

I usually come in for coffee at this location. I have never had an issue until today. I came in for a Vietnamese coffee and took about three sips and it was gone . The amount of ice is insane! I expect a little more if I am paying roughly $8-10 dollars.

Althought the cake is good, but I have bad experiences here! The service is so bad, one of the worker is so rude, I ordered coffee and the lady just give me the coffee with attitude, we was asked for a bag and she was not really care at all.

This bakery is clean and well-stocked with baked goods. I bought a birthday cake, and they were out of those little birthday signs. The employees were not very friendly.

One has no maple flavor not even towards the center. Something missing or my taste bud lacking?

Great tasty bakery. Except maple flavor lacking in one. Something missing or my taste bud is not working?

Sometimes I come for their light and fluffy bread. This was the first time I was on a mission for pumpkin bread. I never knew they had it till a week ago. No luck last week but success this weekend. I tried it and its delicious. The bread itself is not that sweet but the filling which was a surprise was just the right amount of sweet. There's even a chocolate stem. Yum!

Sea Salt Coffee and Jasmine Tea
    Kelli K.

Love 85 degrees! I love the egg tarts and their sea salt coffee/tea! The Sea Salt Jasmine is so creamy and refreshing! The strength of the tea flavor is great without it being super bitter! I usually order this in a large with light ice! The Sea Salt Caramel Coffee is yummy as well! It's got a solid coffee flavor with a nice toffee caramel flavor! The egg tarts are delicious. The crust isn't crispy but it is slightly flaky. It's soft, creamy, and not too sweet! You can get two egg tarts for a little over $4. A bit expensive but hits the spot.

    Sooo much ice.

I come here every once in a while and usually get some bread and Vietnamese iced coffee. Howeverrrrrr, it seems like every time I come I get less and less coffee as the amount of ice is increased. Today was the final straw. I got two good sips in and all of the sudden my drink was gone. The ratio of crushed ice to coffee is ridiculous ! I love their bread so I will be back, but I am not getting their drinks again.

    Chocolate Mousse Cake.
    Tram N.

Get their chocolate mousse cake. I ordered a few slices in the past. I was given a whole cake for my birthday thanks to my team in Singapore, a bought a whole cake for a retirement lunch, and I bought another whole cake yesterday for a team member's birthday. It's incredibly moist, chocolaty, decadent, rich, creamy.... just heavenly! It stayed fresh and moist (never dry) even on the 6th day in the fridge. I was very surprised at how well it held up and how it was still delicious after so many days. There seems to be a line no matter what time you come. Sometimes their whole cakes are sold out, too. I love their pastries, but their chocolate mousse cake cannot be beaten.

I was chewing on my tiramisu cheesecake and this was in the bite. It doesn't resemble any of the packaging. 12/07/2025.
    Marwa A.

I was enjoying my tiramisu cheesecake until I started chewing on this. Initially I thought I accidentally chewed off a piece of the lining, but everything is intact (the box, the plastic cover of the cake). The piece that I chewed on is not directly from my cake packaging, which made my stomach turn. This cake was a solid 8/10 until I ran into this mysterious paper in one of the bites. Cleanliness wins over taste any day, so this is my last time coming to this bakery.

Hmmm... I am surprised I have not reviewed this place before as I've been here several times over the years. Anyways, they are located in a large plaza with Lucky Supermarket, Cha Cha Sushi, etc. Parking is not an issue! The service was friendly. Great place to pick up some baked breads, pastries, cakes, coffee, or milktea drinks. Overall 3.5 stars

They're best known for their famous Burnt Almond Cake, though they also offer a variety of other pastries. Personally, I come here just for the cake. They sell it by the slice or cupcakes, and they also have whole cakes ready to go. If you're looking for a custom cake, though, be sure to place your order in advance. Whenever I'm in the area, I always stop by to pick up a few cakes to bring home for my family, but I can probably eat a whole cake to myself lol. Their prices are still surprisingly reasonable, which makes it even more worth the trip.

As a first-time customer, I had no idea they donate your paid order if you miss the pickup date. I was told I received a reminder email and that the policy was disclosed, but neither happened. I spoke directly with the owner, Cassey, explained the situation, and asked why no one contacted me before giving away something I had already paid for. At some point, she basically just stopped responding to me on the phone. All of this over a $30 order that probably could've been resolved with the tiniest bit of customer service. Instead, I'm now annoyed enough to be writing a catty Yelp review and hoping for Peter Bakery's demise lol -- Edit: just to reiterate here, cause I hate being called a liar. I came the following day and I was told the cake was already donated. My call today was to escalate the item I paid for but was given away. Lastly, no information about donations in the email, nor was a reminder email sent. Rather than checking their systems to verify, they continue to double down. $30 bucks lost on my end, but I hope my review sheds light on their shady customer service. (Btw, still no call back from that co-owner)

You line up, pick your pastries and order your food if you are eating in and then pay at the counter. Then, they will deliver the food to your table. It was a perfect combo. My friend got the chicken and croffle. She loved it. She said the chicken is most and perfectly seasoned. I took home, almond croissant, salt breads (garlic, chocolate and truffles), toast box, and ham & cheese croissant. Everything was delicious! That said, they're constantly restocking, and the staff has a well-oiled system down. Even when it's busy, things move surprisingly efficiently. PASTRIES/BAKED GOODS: 9/10 I love their pastries and baked goods! I honestly haven't had anything that was a miss for me, whether it's savory or sweet. Everything I've tried has been delicious. FOOD/MEALS: 8/10 As for their meals, I thought they were good, but not quite as memorable as the pastries. I ordered the avocado toast, and while it was hearty and generously loaded, I felt like there was just a little too much going on. Both the salad and the toast were dressed a bit too heavily for my taste. COFFEE: 8/10 I also really enjoy their coffee. My go-to is the Latte Einspänner, and it pairs perfectly with their pastries. You can really taste the quality of the espresso, and I appreciate that it's not overly sweet. SERVICE: 9/10 The staff is quick, efficient, and constantly on the move. As I mentioned, they run like a well-oiled machine, even during the morning rush. AMBIANCE: 8/10 Seats fill up fast! If you're planning to dine in and you spot an open table, have someone in your group grab it while the other orders; tag-team it, lol. I also love the overall aesthetic. The wooden tables, sky blue and yellow color palette, and bright space make it feel warm and inviting. And of course, the giant glass displays packed with beautiful pastries are hard to resist; they're practically part of the décor!

I was SOOOO sad and disappointed just by the appearance of them when arriving, they were all burnt! You can't tell me they are supposed to look like this because nowhere on their website or instagram to they advertise them with black tops. I purchase Pastel de Nata quite frequently from my local bakery in San Leandro and since we were finally in San Jose, I was SO excited at the opportunity to try new ones from this "popular bakery" and I'm confused on how these sell? I ordered 13 pastel de Nata (6 traditional & the remaining a mix of all the flavors they offer) I'd hope when packing my boxes they'd attempt to throw some in there that weren't burnt from the top but the pictures speak for themselves. The burnt top ruins the taste of the pastry itself. The filling to crust ratio isn't it. Needs more custard or a slightly thinner crust. Attaching photos for reference. We also arrived at 11am (1.5 hours after they opened) and there was literally only 1 malasada left, I'm so happy it happened to be dulce de leche which I wanted and purchased it. My husband, son, and I LOVED it! That's the reason for the 1 star (although I can't give less) I'd recommend they make more Malasadas and less Pastel de Nata to keep up with the demand, a couple families walked in after me and walked right out when they realized there weren't any in stock and they genuinely taste better then the Pastel de Nata, you can tell that's where the high ratings come from and why they are popular. Overall - would recommend 1000% skipping the pastel de Nata unfortunately it does not taste anything like the ones I've had before. Not a true reflection of what it should taste/look like. We made the drive super excited to finally come and try and ignore the reviews saying it wasn't the best just to confirm they were correct.

The toast was toasted very well and held up the sandwich. The staff was nice and efficient with their orders. There was a long line of people but it felt like it moved quickly and seats also opened up quickly. We also got the ube mochi to go which was pretty good. The shop has lots of cute decorations and figurines and the like. It feels like a good place to also get some coffee and relax when it's less busy.

Customers usually come in, grab what they need, pay, and head out, which keeps things moving smoothly. One of the best things about this bakery is the incredible variety of pastries and breads. Whether you're craving something sweet or savory, there's plenty to choose from: melon pan, loaf bread, dinner rolls, chow mein bread, spaghetti bread, sweet potato bread, crab and roe bread, tomato bread, apple pie, and so much more. Don't skip the refrigerated section either! They carry fruit sandwiches, tuna sandwiches, fried bread, donuts, somen noodles in a cup, and other delicious grab-and-go items. They also offer rice balls and drinks that can be ordered at the register. If you're in the area, definitely stop by and give them a try. Small businesses like this deserve our support!

Clover Bakery & Cafe is a small Japanese-style bakery and café that feels like the kind of…read moreneighborhood spot you randomly discover and keep coming back to. We walked into a cozy, compact space with shelves filled with freshly baked breads, pastries, and prepared foods, all arranged in a way that makes you want to browse slowly even though the shop is small. The atmosphere has that simple, welcoming feel reminiscent of the small bakeries you find throughout Japan, focusing more on quality and variety than on a large café setup. Seating is limited, so it is better suited for grabbing something to go rather than spending a long time inside. The biggest draw here is the combination of Japanese baked goods and savory items. The bakery selection offers a great mix of sweet and savory options, with classics like melon pan standing out for its crisp sugary topping and soft interior that stays light without being dry. The curry bread and croquette bread are also popular choices, both feeling comforting and freshly made rather than overly sweet or greasy. The bakery items are reasonably priced, which makes it easy to pick up multiple things without feeling like you are spending too much, and the variety means there is always something new to try. The onigiri selection is what really makes Clover stand out compared to a typical bakery. They offer a variety of rice balls with fillings like spicy tuna, tuna mayo, and unagi, making it a great option for a quick breakfast or light meal. The rice is well balanced and the fillings give each onigiri a different personality. The spicy tuna has a nice kick that comes through without overpowering the rice, while the unagi adds a sweeter, more savory flavor that works especially well with the slightly salty rice. The onigiri are a practical, satisfying choice for anyone looking for something more substantial than a pastry. Beyond the baked goods and onigiri, Clover also has drinks, sandwiches, and desserts including cakes and other pastries. The strawberry cake is a nice lighter dessert option, and the overall menu gives plenty of reasons to visit whether you are looking for breakfast, a snack, or something to bring home. The offerings feel thoughtfully selected, with enough variety to cover different cravings without making the menu feel scattered. Service is friendly and efficient, and the small size of the shop adds to the charm. Since it has become a popular local spot, some items can sell out during busy hours, so arriving earlier gives you the best selection. Parking can also be a little challenging during peak times, but the quick grab-and-go style makes the visit easy to manage. Clover Bakery & Cafe is a great stop for anyone who enjoys Japanese bakeries. The combination of fresh breads, affordable prices, and unique savory options like onigiri makes it feel different from a standard bakery. It is the type of place where it is worth picking up a few items and trying a mix of everything, leaving you with the sense that you have found a little neighborhood gem that delivers on both quality and variety.

Of course husband last minute says day of birthday celebration that we need a cake. Found Izumi…read moreCakes on Yelp and was bummed at first because the soonest online reservation for a cake would be two days later. Husband called them around 11am and they said they were in the middle of making their strawberry cakes so they could add our order in for a same day pickup at 4pm. Pickup went well and the cake was so cute and it tasted great! Like the Chinese bakery strawberry cream cake with a moist sponge cake; not too sweet, just right. Might sound basic but it was done very well. Would 100% recommend. I don't know prices for cakes nowadays but I didn't feel bad paying about $60 for a cute and tasty cake (6", strawberry cream cake). I wouldn't bank on same day pickups, I might've just been very lucky they were in the middle of making their cakes but it wouldn't hurt to try calling early in the day if you're in a pinch for a solid cake. I'm very thankful for their service!

This spot is takeout-only, so don't plan on stopping by for long. Finding parking isn't difficult…read morebut might take a minute on busy days, as it shares a parking lot with the rest of a popular plaza. The store itself is easy to find as well, with a clear label outside. Walking in, it looks half-closed--their cakes are all stored in a large refrigerator, with nothing in the case on the counter. There is a sign proclaiming "takeout only" in slight disarray, and the seating is pushed to the side. That said, the service is friendly and the employees are quick to help you and show you what they have in stock for takeout. I ordered the 4" Berry Berry Light Cake for a birthday, and they were able to write a birthday message on the cake board, which I really appreciated. The cake also tasted very light and the sweetness was subtle, which I really enjoyed. The berry flavor in the sponge was a little too subtle, though. My main concern is that the cake does not fully resemble the picture they advertised online. It is missing the freeze-dried berries on top, and the berry glaze did not reach as far down the cake as was shown in the photo. Because the berry glaze is the main source of the berry flavor, this was a little disappointing. Also, the cake was not finished when I came to pick up the cake (and I was ~5 minutes late). I'm uncertain if this is for freshness or if there is another reason. Overall, I like the spot for the fresh and light cake. It's pleasantly unique compared to your standard sheet cake, and everything is rather cute. However, it may be a better idea to buy the cakes in-person to be 100% sure of what it will look like, though daily stock is definitely more limited than if you place an order online. I hope they reopen their indoor seating soon.
