I had dinner at Waterford Plaza and was glad to discover an 85 Bakery located there. A few Yelp friends reviewed the one in Cupertino and I'd been wanting to check it out. There were no other customers at 8:30pm on a Friday night. The three young staff members were involved in a lively discussion and didn't seem to notice me, which was fine. The bakery reminded me of Paris Baguette because you take a tray when you enter and grab the baked goods that you want, self-service style. However, 85 Bakery has no tables or chairs. The shelves were a little bare, which made sense late in the evening. I saw plenty of tempting pastries like walnut cinnamon rolls, almond half moons, and chocolate sponge rolls. I ended up getting three chocolate dipped strawberries from the refrigerated case. The staff member put them in a nice blue box with a windowed lid. I noticed when I got home that a sign in one of the photos I took said they were having a special, buy three chocolate dipped strawberries and get one free. No one mentioned it when I bought mine. The chocolate dipped strawberries were so refreshing. The chocolate was sweet, but not overly so, and the strawberries were large and ripe. I polished off all three pretty quick and enjoyed them very much. I'd love to go back and try some of the pastries that caught my eye. Came here to try the infamous iced Vietnamese coffee with sea salt crème and wow it tasted delicious the only complaint I have is the over amount of ice they use. I took two sips and it was gone. For the price I felt like it could have been more product less ice. The service was great there wasn't a lot of people. You walk in, grab a tray, and make your selections. The items available were limited. My favorites like egg tarts and butterfly cookies weren't there. So I picked a coconut twist, chocolate roll, and strawberry danish. Everything was fresh and delicious. So I will return if I'm in the area. I stopped by on my way back from the gym. It was an impulsive decision, as I was craving some sweets. This 85 location is small - and since it was right before a holiday - very crowded. I thought I would be in and out in about 10 minutes, but I was there for close to 25 minutes. Selecting my items was quickish, but waiting to pay was long. The kiosk for cakes/drinks was broken, so everyone was in line. There were also a ton of people trying to pick up their orders online and there just weren't enough workers. Not their fault - but having two people work one register (training someone?) and/or wandering off from the register to do something else when there's tons of people waiting - that wasn't very customer friendly. I came before noon, so I thought the selection would be decent. I was disappointed. Again, maybe it's the holiday weekend and whatnot, but many of what I usually get were gone. The experience was made worse because some kids were running around and grabbing things (and sometimes putting them back) right in front of people who were there first. Parents weren't paying attention and staff was overwhelmed with customers. I was given a whole cake for my birthday thanks to my team in Singapore, a bought a whole cake for a retirement lunch, and I bought another whole cake yesterday for a team member's birthday. It's incredibly moist, chocolaty, decadent, rich, creamy.... just heavenly! It stayed fresh and moist (never dry) even on the 6th day in the fridge. I was very surprised at how well it held up and how it was still delicious after so many days. There seems to be a line no matter what time you come. Sometimes their whole cakes are sold out, too. Initially I thought I accidentally chewed off a piece of the lining, but everything is intact (the box, the plastic cover of the cake). My family loves the Ube bread from here and I used to love the cheesy loaf before going gluten free. I didn't find any gluten free bakery items when there but I did enjoy a lychee green tea. The tea was very sweet even at 50% sweetness. My friend got the lavender taro latte and said it tasted slightly powdery but still enjoyed it. The interior is clean and well organized but some of the bread items were not labeled so it was difficult understanding what I was picking. I still found the Ube bread and it did not disappoint! I walked in with my wife around 1:30pm on 9/2/26. While my wife shops for treats, I walk to the bathrooms in the back. Could not open the doors. I go back to the front and ask the older white lady for how to get in the bathroom. She literally ignores me. My wife standing 25 ft away said she heard me ask but this person standing 5 ft away somehow didn't? I don't think so. I say "hello?", and she looks up and says "55114*" or whatever the code was, in a dismissive manner like I was bothering her. In other words, she heard me the first time and decided to ignore me, because if all she actually heard was "hello", how did she know my "hello" was to ask for the code for the bathroom??? Anyway, I go back to one of the bathrooms to punch in the code and it doesn't even light up. I go back to the front and said the code doesn't work, and only then was I told that there is a silver bar at the base of the keypad. I spend the next 2 minutes trying to punch in the code when another person, a younger Asian American girl, comes over. My wife states this girl also rolled her eyes before she came over to the back. She tried to punch in the code and it didn't work, and had to try on the next bathroom. She also HELD DOWN the silver bar at the base of the keypad, which the older lady never told me I had to not only touch, but also to hold down, while I pressed the code in. Mind you, these people probably have worked that keypad a hundred times prior while I have worked that keypad exactly ZERO times prior. Holding down the keypad while punching in numbers is probably information they should have told me along with the actual code. Regardless, the older lady trying to ignore me then giving me incomplete instructions and the younger girl rolling her eyes at my inability to access the bathroom for 2 minutes constitute EXTREMELY poor customer service. I have been to this bakery with my wife dozens of times prior to this and I hope to NEVER have to go back there again. Don't ever go there and God forbid have to use the bathroom, or be prepared to be treated like dirt if you do. read more

I am very disappointed with my experience today. I purchased 10 pastries, and the employee told me there were no boxes available and that I had to pay $2 for a bag, otherwise I would have to carry all the pastries individually. What made this even more upsetting was that the customers after me were given boxes without being charged. I don't understand why I was told there were no boxes, while others clearly received them.
