Oh wow! This place is great! I was a little hesitant at first walking in because the outside is not very appealing. I'm so glad I stopped in! The sushi is super fresh and delicious! Definitely recommend the spicy tuna roll! One of the best sushi places I've tried. And the waitress Michelle is very attentive and caring and super friendly. We ordered and waited (which it wasn't long). I had noticed the plates were a little dirty but didn't make a big scene, instead we asked for new ones. We were looking for a place close to home to have sushi and we were happy to have looked into Yelp recommendations for this place. I have seen and pass by this small restaurant in Westland, and I never knew they will be able to provide a different twist on Japanese food. We normally will go to One World Market for a good sushi, so somehow, you have an idea on how I will compare their food : 1. Sushi- cost is comparable, taste is a star lower that than One world higher than Aji ten or O Sushi for both taste and cost 2. Place- better than One world for you don't have to wait and seating is bountiful, at least when we visited Saturday Lunch. Clean with ancient Japanese martial arts decor. 3. Service- very friendly waitress, she made us really at home, food came in quick, tea was hot like we want it 4.Alternate food choice-they have the Flash Bang that I highly recommend (we tried the Crab salad and Spicy Salmon). Honestly don't know why this place has such a high rating.. the waitress forgot our order, the "side of spicy mayo" she gave us was not even enough for one piece of sushi, and the stuff we wrote on our sushi order paper was completely disregarded. Also the fried rice was compared to Benihana by our waitress, however it tasted nothing like it and was very salty with little flavor. Sushi pieces were all huge and too big to even enjoy. Our waitress was the saving grace of our visit. Where do I start? My daughter and I ordered a wide variety of food for both dine in and to go. The miso soup was so salty I asked for an extra bowl and made another bowl by adding hot water. The fried rice was also very salty. The sushi was bad. The sushi rice was unseasoned, the shrimp was rubbery, and the crab salad was bland. We also ordered a nabeyaki udon. The first one came out with a sour taste, like spoiled broth. They did remake it and the second one was ok, but it didn't taste like the Japanese udon broth. More like chicken broth with Napa cabbage. The carry out was not any better. The lo mein noodles were all broken and just tasted off. We were there at the end of the night and really didn't want to come back for a remake. I have read the other reviews and cannot seem to understand where this dinner service went so wrong. read more

So since I moved into town, I have eaten 888 sushi on 2 occasions. I decided to leave a little review. Once, eating in and the other eating take out. Both sushi. Dining in was great. My sushi seemed fresh, and although I was not a fan of the spicy yellowtail nigiri that's solely my opinion of the food. The tomago, which is usually my favorite part of the meal was less sweet than I'm used to. I enjoy it elsewhere more, but I respect it more here because I can tell they make it themselves rather than buying it pre made. The only reason this is not a 5 star review is because my take out order was one third incorrect. The one special roll I ordered was not what I had asked for. It was good, and I enjoyed my meal, but I didn't enjoy not having what I asked for. Hopefully this changes upon further visits read more

Ive been there 3 times already. Probably a weekly stop for us. Their Nori they use for Sushi is the best of any place around. Not chewy like other places. My daughter loves their vegetable fried rice. Gyoza are awesome. Sushi is great. Jasmine tea is delicious. Miso soup is yummy. I don't have one complaint. The family that runs the place is very friendly. Staff makes excellent suggestions. And a couple times they have passed out samples to try.
