I had heard a lot of good things about this place, so I came to check it out. Pretty cozy, maybe 5 booths and 7-8 tables, and like 5-6 seats at the sushi bar. I ordered the beef terriyaki with white rice, which I thought was very good! I'd come back for this dish alone. I also had a Murphy roll. It's a cooked roll with crab salad and tempura asparagus on the inside, and whitefish on top. Also very good, definitely had me wanting to try some other rolls they have. Meal came with miso soup which was good. The wifey ordered the general tso's chicken and some crab Rangoon's. The Rangoon's were quite bland. Unless you love straight up cream cheese, then you'll love them. She thought the general tso was not too good and too spicy, but I thought it was ok. It wasn't the usual sticky sugar bomb type of general tso's that you're used to. Sauce is thinner, less sugary, definitely spicy, but good. But why order Chinese food in a Japanese spot anyways haha. Service was excellent. The lady brought our food to the car because it was ready before the time she quoted us. The crab rangoons were very good. That's the end of our pleasant experience. Ramen bowl was unseasoned and had NO flavor. The shrimp low mein was just as tasteless as the ramen bowl. The good thing about the low mein was the amount of veggies (if veggies is your thing) and the shrimp egg roll was just ok. We really wanted to like this spot but it wasn't for us. It's pretty rare that you find a place that has good sushi and good grill food as well and this place NAILS both. They have great sushi rolls with a plethora of options and great appetizer options as well. We ordered the flash bang, which was thinly sliced avocado wrapped around either crab salad or spicy tuna salad (we got the crab salad). It looked amazing and had great flavor. The group got 5 different rolls (pictured) and they all looked and tasted great. I'm definitely convinced that all of their rolls are great. I ordered the General Tso Chicken, subbing grilled chicken for friend chicken and it was fantastic. The sauce is a little spicier than most General's sauces (made with fresh jalepeños) and is made in house from scratch. 10/10 will return!! read more

Glad everybody else has liked this place but I don't. Have it the benefit of the doubt and tried a second time. I really wanted this place to knock it out of the park cuz Wayne and Westland really need some non fast food choices. Highlight: Seaweed monster roll (might have the name off a little). Pretty good and unlike anything I have had before. Lowlights: - I LOVE raw scallops so was happy to see it on menu. It was horrid. It was chopped and mixed with some sort of spicy mayo leading to believe it was not scallop but krab. I have been to countless sushi restaurants and never had it served this way. - Rolls are cut huge. I laughed at another review when they said roll was too big...well one of mine was cut poorly and had hard time eating it. - I would call this "beginner" sushi. Very general rolls and nothing really earning s good rating other than that seaweed monster roll. - Second time there my hubby wanted something other than sushi and orders General Tsos. Horrible! No flavor! I have personally made better General Tsos with a spice packet from Kroger. I would rather make the trip to Canton or Dearborn for sushi than come here again. read more

LOVED this place! Sushi was fresh and delicious! The exterior of the restaurant was very unassuming, so I did not expect much and was delightfully surprised. Staff is so attentive and friendly. I had the chef's special plate (small) and was more than satisfied. My partner had a non-sushi dish that came out first, and it was very yummy as well. I will definitely be a repeat customer here! She was double checking every persons order, asked if they wanted any extra sauces. She was also running the register, taking orders over the phone, waiting tables, and handing out to-go orders through their convenient drive up window. THIS LADY DOES IT ALL! I was about to offer her a job with my company.lol It got all veggie sushi. Avocodo, cucumber, asparagas. Spring rolls, and crab rangoon. Came with sauces and chopsticks. It took 20-25 minutes. I really wanted to like this place. It seemed to have decent reviews. Unfortunately I was quite disappointed with the food. I ordered the California roll. I figured if this place had a decent California roll, the other sushi was worth a shot. I also ordered the ginger salad, and one shrimp egg roll. The California roll had crab salad, avacado and cucumber. I found the roll to be very bland. It just tasted like something was missing. The wasabi was very gritty and didn't have much flavor. The crab salad seemed fresh but was plain. The last California roll I had was from Benihana, and it was more flavorful and tasted much better. The "shrimp" egg roll was inedible. It was extremely greasy. The bean sprout filling was greasy to the point of having a slimy texture and did not look or taste fresh. I opened the roll up and only found one pathetic shrimp. The ginger salad was okay; nothing to write home about. The ginger dressing was bright in flavor and the lettuce, red cabbage and carrots were fresh. Our absolute favorite sushi place! And unfortunately it's very close to our home which has cost us a lot of money. What makes 888 so much better than the others is not only their sushi, but the entrees are outstanding. Every other place is either good sushi but bad entrees or vice versa. Very disappointed in the quality of food received. I placed a carry out order for chicken yakisoba, a shrimp lovers roll, & chicken fried rice. I was charged $1.00 to add egg to my fried rice. $0.60 for a side of teriyaki sauce for my dry chicken yakisoba & $1.00 because I used a debit card to pay. After getting past all the nickel & dime fees I get home & open a container of PLAIN fried rice there was NO chicken & no egg. The shrimp on top of my sushi roll was sour and the yakisoba was just OK. If you are going to be an establishment that charges for every single thing atleast get your customers orders correct. Also it is beyond me why I was charged to use a debit card on a $31 order. I will not be returning. read more

So glad I decided to try this place because their sushi and main dishes are great! The flash bang is a must try! The sushi is awesome here, always really good and fresh. The chicken yakisoba, fried rice, crab Rangoons, and udon noodles are all very good. The owners and staff here are always very friendly. This place is actually kinda hidden and it's smaller on the inside but it's so worth stopping in or carrying out from. The best sushi restaurant I've been to in a long time! I will keep returning for sure. Can't wait to try more items from the menu! Update: tried the tempura shrimp dinner and the general tsous and they both were mehhh.
