Shrimp not shelled or deveined and cumbersome to eat. King crab supposedly fresh but didn't taste like it. King crab came out cold after being "boiled". King crab shells sharp and nearly impossible to crack. Didn't see or taste the clams, mussels, or crawfish. Large screen TVs on the walls were distracting, especially for food that requires so much attention. No bread to sop up the tasty sauces, which go from no spice to "insane" (their description). I'm very upset with this place host / waitress staff their very rude with horrible customer service. My boyfriend & I including many others stood in line for 20mins with no server to give service to us . We were waiting to make a to go order. We watched another customer just walk in noticing the long line complaining & admiting to knowing the cashier at the bar.. she easily walks up to the counter & place a to go order. I decided to walk up to the bar & ask if I could place mines as well. Cashier told me everybody has to wait in line even when placing a to go. Finally another 15 mins flew by a different waitress walks up and start servicing the line seating people down yet again told us to wait until she sat everybody down in order for her to take our to go order( mind you not we were the 2nd in line & had 3 to 4 people behind us go ahead of us ) we waited for the food & couldn't wait anymore. read more

The sauce was tasteless. I'm so very disappointed. I love crawfish and can eat at least 3-4 pounds myself. I ordered 1 pound of crawfish to try it out and ate maybe 10 crawfish. I only ate so many cause I felt bad wasting it. But ended up leaving a bunch anyways cause it was soooooo tasteless. Also when I notice my extra insane sauce was thickening up I called it quits. If your sauce can thicken up within minutes wonder what it looks like inside your body. See picture. Gross! I would not recommend this place. It will ruin someone's first timer experience. read more

Ate here the other day. Food was decent, but service was not good. Waited for a whole hour for my food to come out finally, have never had to wait that long before. My table was the last to get served dinner, and many people that came in after me were served they're food before me. And they weren't even crowded or busy! Then They forgot some of my order and never even brought it out to me. Service wasn't very attentive at all. Waitresses took a long time to check on our table to see if we needed anything. Asked for a refill of my soda, waitress said she would, and never even came back with it. Ended up just paying, and leaving. The ambiance of the restaurant would have been enjoyable if they're weren't a group of people drunk, loud, and pretty inconsiderate. Waitresses or management did nothing about it. Didn't even ask them to quiet down. Sad I really wanted to find a new seafood place closer to Berkeley but, I Probably won't be back here again :( read more

The catfish was good and the fries were standard food-service quality -- not bad -- but to put up with that echoing loud yelling obnoxious atmosphere was not worth the pretty good fried fish. I won't go back. I gave it a fair shot. Glad I went alone and did not bring my wife. I'm a pretty easy-going guy, but this experience got my hackles up, and that's not what you want for a dinner evening out. Disappointed -- I had high hopes from the outside. THIS RESTAURANT IS SUCH A HIDDEN GEM! I had to to make a Yelp account just to be able to spread the news. I came in on Monday around 6 with my family, and surprising to me, they were pretty busy. We were greeted right away and the waitress, Michelle, offered me the special drink of the day, it was a really good pineapple drink, I'm ashamed I drank so many! The food was also delicious!! Honey chicken wings with the perfect amount of garlic noodles that comes with it. The only thumbs down I had from my experience was that spicy is extremely spicy, so next time I'd do the spice on the side! But other than that I will definitely be back!! read more

Have you ever had a food craving? Well last evening I had a strong craving for garlic noodles! 938 Crawfish for the cure!! Website says they close at 9:30pm, my clock says 8:43pm, let me call it in...voice recording says they are not available?? Facebook says they close at 10pm. I get there it's dark inside, but I see at least 5-6 people at the bar, the door is locked. A young guy comes to door and says they're closed, the sign he's standing next to says they close at 9:30 and it's just after 9pm. "I'm so sorry", he says. While we're standing there a girl walks up and he tells her they're closed, she says she's with someone already inside and he lets her in! No garlic noodles for me and I'm hot! When businesses are doing well they don't give an eff about customer service. Zero stars should be a thing. So glad this opened up, I was tired of driving to Sacramento for Firehouse and Oakland for Rocking crawfish, I needed a place close by to feed my shrimp boil need. I was glad to find that they had the garlic butter (not spicy so good for kids) option, some places dont offer that. The flavors of the sauce is not as strong as some other places, but I still like it. I only have the shrimp in these places, so I cant speak to the other kinds of seafood. $1 oyster happy hour runs out pretty early. Get there before 7 for happy hour beer prices. Garlic noodles are too sweet. Corn is good but I dont really get the appeal of the potatoes... not particularly memorable. All in all pretty good. Pretty good overall. Good quantity of food for the price....crawfish and crab, excellent! Oysters, very good! However: cocktail sauce with the oysters is a bit off...and the mignonette was oily, which was very strange. Cocktails were good: lychee mojito and a margarita. The shellfish was abundant and tasty. The service was attentive and quick. There are some atmosphere issues to work out, however. The plastic bibs and paper table coverings are good ideas considering the messiness of the food. Several TVs on throughout seemed out of place. The worst part was the music! Horrible, raunchy, explicit hip-hop. There were several tables with young children in the restaurant...what might they make of the detailed description of wanton lovemaking emanating from the restaurant's speakers? The carpets were dirty which was the first sign and there were empty tables with old food on them and the floors underneath. We checked this place out on the 19th of April and the only and I mean ONLY reason my husband and I are giving this 2 stars is because the garlic noodles were super! We found the king crab legs to be stringy and the crab not very tasty. Both were served with a pair of scissors which certainly didn't cut through the crab and legs. The legs were thorny-like and absolutely impossible to cut through without poking your fingers. The crab was presented totally UNCUT. Both dishes were greasy and impossible to hold onto. We sent both dishes back and asked that they be cut up. And wow, expensive! The servers were attentive and friendly. Don't bother to check this place out, it really wasn't good. read more

I treated 3 of my close friends to 938 Crawfish because they said it was spicy & excellent on June 11,2016. We were seated at the back where there was a television set. The set up was haphazard to say the least. We ordered The Meal with a lot of fried side orders, Initially the service was good but when we ran out of drinks I had to bring our glasses for refills ( bottomless refills ) and I still had to wait at the machine for the refills. The food was okay and certainly nothing to write home about, nothing special other than spicy. The garlic noodles were good. We were finished eating and must have waited for 30 minutes for the dessert to arrive and were told that they ran out of bananas and we were asked if we can instead have oreo cookies with ice cream instead. Is this the new way of running a business to the ground ? The cashier / host came over and said that we will be given FREE banana sundae the next time. Unfortunately, there won't be a next time. Service was BEYOND bad, the place is like a cafeteria from god knows what planet, i he ambience feels DIRTY. The bill came out to 141.46, and from the goodness of my heart, I gave them the minimum 15% gratuity - $163 -- ALTHOUGH I was VERY VERY TEMPTED to give them ZERO tip. The quantity of the food was not much by any stretch of the imagination..in other words the prices were VERY VERY VERY INFLATED. They are riding on the novelty of how food is served. I don't care for the parmesan cheese but they put it on the side so next time I just wont use it, but the flavor is to die for! and they are not as greasy as most places. My experience here was horrible, and disgusting and a complete disappointment. The hostess by the name of Michelle should not be working there as she does not have the best interest of the owner, company/investors. She was very rude and passive aggressive for no reason at all.. After being ignored for about 5mins as I stood in front of the first cashier and visibly in front of the bar i then had to state EXCUSE ME to even be acknowledged before being offered a menu to order.. I looked at the menu as another customer approach and wanted to dine in , next thing I know I hear a rude tone from the Michelle the hostess and the lady walks out just as quick as she walked in right after she had been seated and left.. Michelle then approached me to take the order as if nothing happened. No proper greeting or anything, then rudely statedbcan she take my order. I placed the order with her and was told that it would be a while, as the food came out she placed it on the counter which at the time I didn't know it was mine, sat it on the counter as she continued to dry dishes until she finished then bright the food up to the register to receive payment for the food that been waiting out getting cold.. I then placed another small order for corn only to wait no longer making the food even more cold.. She in very inconsiderate, with no class, and no experience in hospitality industry nor hostess waitress or even customer service general and didn't even offer to resolve the problem or even check to see if the rest of the order was even ready and just refunded me $2.10 and walked away, she didn't apologize at all for her mistake for the cold food or even on behalf of the owners or anything.. By the time I made it to my friend house less than 8 mins away the food was cold and gressy, the fries were soaked in greese.. the fish was dry .. I called and to inform them and when she answered I asked to speak with the manager and she hung up the phone.. Other than playing childish games with her I decided that this would be a good means of getting their attention all while writing a review.. Please leave or request another hostess/waiter before dining here, she seemed to be wearing mutiple hats.. the place definitely seems to be under staffed and inadequately trained.
