Last night was terrible! We had come here for a birthday with about 15 people all ready to celebrate. When we got here we did come in slowly granted so the server went ahead and started our drink orders and appetizers. This is when we should have realized it was going to be a bad night it took 20 mins to get a beer and an old fashion. By this time our group had all arrived and we started to order our dinners, the server disappeared half way through our group and we had to go get her to complete our groups orders, they were not incredibly busy either at this time. Later on the birthday lady ordered plain cranberry juice again this took 30 minutes for JUST cranberry juice. All the while we are waiting on food and its being auctioned off to us (when they bring the food to the table and ask who ordered what) since this was not coming out as a dinner meal or the combo as we had ordered there was inital confusion on our parts (she should have some idea where the food is going) She brought out the noodles first and then slowly started bringing out the boils. At one point half our table was missing there food and we had to demand their food after being given bogus excuses for 45 MINS TO AN HOUR. The birthday girl then decided to go talk to a manager she walked up to the bar to the gentleman standing there and asked for the manager and he said oh Ill have to go get him. He never came to the table we then asked our server to bring the manager and she had an attitude saying anything we were going to ask him we can ask her. My boyfriend who has worked in MANY restaurants much nicer/busier than here explained to her that we needed to talk to a manager at this point because our service was terrible. Finally a manager came over and tried to "calm" the situation by telling him he needed to calm down. I am sorry but at this point we are 2 hours into dinner and its been a crappy experience and when we asked for a manger no one came. Then the same gentleman who said he would go get a manager showed up and said he WAS the manager! When asked why he lied and said he would go get the manager he tried to say I didn't say that I said I would go get your food. They have no remorse for the crappy service we received on a special day for one of our family members. We spent over $500 on dinner and it was not worth that by any means when we asked for a discount due to the service the manager again had attitude and said that she would only remove the auto gratuity that was added on. Again they have no remorse and then proceeded to go to the bar and talk loudly to the customers sitting at the bar about the situation that could have been alleviated if the initial manager had taken care of the issue. We in no way were looking for a free dinner as we all had ordered drinks, and multiple items off the menu. We will NEVER go back here EVER and have passed along the word that they suck. read more

I came to this establishment for three first time today, and I can say I was very pleased. The service was excellent. The manager Tony was very personable, friendly, and made our dining experience enjoyable. The food was extremely good, and very flavorful. I've been to 938 before in the past but the last few times I've been in I've seen some changes , changes for the better, I just had there chicken and noodles and the chicken is like no other. For the price you pay for shellfish, this place just doesn't cut it. The crab legs weren't even hot, perhaps slightly warm if that, and with the butter congealing.. it wasn't very appetizing. 938 is a great and refreshing new addition to the Albany food scene. There just aren't a lot of places like this and I'm glad they are nearby. Large quantities of clams, mussels, crab, shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes come smothered in butter, garlic and lemon -- it's delicious! This is one of the worse restaurants I have ever visited. First they were out if salad at 6:30 on Sunday night. So does tha? The wine was served in a juice glass, all two ounces of it. Lousy wine! Driving down SPA on our way back from a different spot to watch the rematch game vs the Bucks, saw the lights and sounds and decided to stop for a post game drink and maybe a dance or two with my lovely wife. Wow! So glad we did. Excellent vibe and customer service and was shocked and amazed how drama free the dance floor was. Saw older people and younger people all having a blast TOGETHER! DJ was awesome and played some nice jams from my days too! Long live old school. I'll be back to try out the food next time, but all in all. What a great first impression. read more

First time in was an experience to remember. Heard about a Spicy Wing Challenge that had yet to be conquered and was instantly intrigued. First time here with some friends for happy hour and they have 1 dollar oysters!! That's Unheard of! We walk in and was immediately greeted by Tony he finds out this is our first time here and right away had lots of suggestions which was really nice! I went 938 Crawfish with a few friends of mine and their kids. There was a total of six of us. We were waiting for about 30 minutes before a table was ready for us. One of the servers asked if we would like to pre-order while we were still waiting for a table, for which we decided to do. After getting seated, the server asked us what we wanted to drink. Only one person in our group asked for a soda and the rest wanted water. While we were conversing, an hour passes by with nothing on the table, not even our drinks! In between that time, two different servers asked if we were ready to order and we had to tell them that we pre-ordered already. We asked the server what was taking so long. She said she will go check the kitchen. We also told her that we still did not get our waters and soda on the table. She came back with only five glasses of water for six of us! After another five minutes passes, we see that same server that was suppose to give us an update on our order which we made BEFORE we got seated, move dish racks for the bar. At this point we were very disappointed. We didn't bother to touch the King Crab Legs that came out BEFORE the appetizers. It was useless to pre-order because it still took an hour for our food to arrive. One of my friends also noticed that there was a party of five people that had arrived after us, get seated before us. After reading all the great reviews, you know I had to just come check it out for myself! I brought my girlfriend here for our 2 year anniversary dinner and boy were the reviews right about the place. The place is brand new so there were a only few wall decorations, little tables, and a mini bar. We were seated as soon as we got there which is always nice. We decided to order the calamari and cajun fries as our appetizer, and 1lb shrimp and 1lb mussel. (With the combo sauce, corn, potatoes, and medium heat.) All the food came out very quickly, as if it were a fast food restaurant, huge plus! Their sauces and spices were just the right amount of heat for me! (Although my girlfriend did think it was a little too intense. Maybe I'm just into spicy foods!) The food was absolutely delicious. We were looking for some really good seafood and we found some! The service they provided was outstanding as well. We had about 3 different servers coming in and out asking if we needed any more assistance. The total price ended up to about $45, which is well worth it. Overall had one of the best dining experiences. Great service, better food! Came here on 09/11/14 around 7ish and they were out of chicken wings, the waitress didn't know if the sausage was pork or beef. So we ordered 1lb. Of shrimp in garlic butter with mild spicy sauce and garlic noodles. Noodles were good but got cold fast. The shrimp were a nice size but I was turned off by the shitty vein left in them and there was no trace of heat in the sauce, just butter and garlic. I would have liked to try their signature drinks or even a dessert but once our orders were taken the waitress asked the two tables across from us if they liked their food and if they needed anything at two different times and walked past us each time ....smh....only when our meal was completely finished and it was time to pay the bill and leave a tip she asked about our food......my money is just as good as the older white couple and the Asian couple she checked on and I tip generously when its earned. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!! We frequent here often and tonight was just the worst experience we have ever had at any eating establishment. Our server was absolutely horrible, zero personality, very cocky, and an extreme lack of social skills. She didn't understand the menu, and it took at least 20 minutes before she took our order and insisted on taking our drink order first and only. We said, we already know what we want, Umm the menu is limited, so it shouldn't take long to decide in general. We finally convinced her to take our order, she came back and asked us several questions, we replied. Then another 15 minutes went by when another server came out to give us our plates, lemons, and lemon pepper and HE said, " What No Drinks"?? We said yes, we ordered them awhile ago and we repeated our drink order and he brought our drinks over promptly. We finally received our food, and we were enjoying it very much...The food is always good! No sign of our server for quite some time. I finally got up walked around the restaurant, still no sign of her?? The place was not completely full with customers, no sign of her...any where. I proceeded to the bar and approached the gentleman who promptly brought us our drink order earlier and asked him if they had bread, he advised they did not. I then asked...have you seen our server? He replies with no...I guess I am it! I then asked, if she was new, and he said yes. I said, well that it explains it...she is not very good at all, and to be honest I think she only had our table and maybe one other. BAD Management, they should have not left her on her own on her first night. All restaurants, usually have a new person shadow an existing server for at least a couple of days, even if they have previous experience. Here is were it gets interesting...unbeknownst to me the server's father is sitting at the bar, and heard my complaint. When I returned to my table, and sat down the male, turn around and said " No wonder she is giving bad service...those two are eating for like five"! WOW...that was innapropriate...by the way...we ordered one broiler bag and 1lb of crab for two people. I said, this is none of your business...he became extremely aggressive and said.."Your server is my daughter" and I don't like your comment and begin to shout "I am an educated black man, you are just "White Trash"!" Uuuuuhhhh....first off...why is this man shouting racist comments at me and we are not "White", not that it matters, he continued to become more aggressive. His friend came over and tried to put a stop to the drama but the racist man continued to call us White Trash and screamed obscenities at us, in front of everyone! Finally the young gentleman at the bar came over and said, I am so sorry, We asked for our check. We inquired with the gentlemen, if the aggressive man was really our servers dad and he said yes...WE were absolutely stunned that a father would act so inappropriately at his daughters place of employment. As we received our check, what appeared to be the owner, walked out of the back some where, and approached the aggressive man, and spoke to him for several minutes. Never once acknowledging us or apologized. He was standing with this man for at least 10 minutes, he could have at least tried to apologize to us for his bad behavior or thrown him out! I am also stunned that the owner took a very long time to appear on the scene in the first place, the yelling and screaming had been going on for at least 10-15 minutes in front of all of his patrons. STILL in Shock, this all happened and the owner seemed to Condon, the bad behavior. So many mistakes this restaurant made tonight from allowing a new staff member (obviously with zero experience) to be left alone to handle customers to allowing "The Father" of the server to yell racist comments at us and lastly he did NOT acknowledging us on or seem to be concerned about how our well-being! RACISIM is never ok, much less Parents making a huge scene at their child's place of employment! read more

I was excited to find out that there was a new crawfish place opened closer to home. I am disappointed with the service and the quality of their king crab. When we arrived around 8:30 on a Saturday night, we were seated immediately for a party of two. We ordered waffle garlic fries, two pounds of king crab and 2 pounds of shrimp head on. The fries came out without garlic, we sent it back. Our food took longer than average to come out, which is weird because it wasn't a full house. The sauce was ehh, how can you mess up medium extra garlic butter? The food didn't come out hot. The king crab tasted watered down and the shrimp came out without head. How can you mess up the entire order??? Moving forward i would rather drive the extra mile to Rocking Crawfish or Boiling Crab! read more

I love 938 however the service today was a little shitty! I wanted to place an order for pick up and no one was answering the phone. Mind you I was calling since 8:45pm. Long story short, I guess they don't answer the phone after that time and lock the door at 9:30pm because my husband tried to go order and the door was locked! My suggestion is that If you are advertising your time until 10pm than you should stay open until 10pm if not make it clear that no orders after a certain time and door locked at certain time. read more

Are we reviewing 938 Crawfish? Really?! This place is a total waste of money. I am currently experiencing stomach pains from this awful food and extreme sadness that I spent 50 bucks for it! The family and I were in the mood for seafood but too lazy to cook or dine out so I decided to yelp a location for a to go meal. Quickly came across 938 crawfish and read the rave reviews. Checked out the menu and decided on "the meal." this meal consist of half pound each of shrimp, clams, mussels and ... Baby crawfish? Garlic noodles, fish and fries. I feel the chunks rising... The place was packed on a Friday night so I was certain we were about to eat some yummy food. Ha! Kids hated the fish. Would not eat it. Hubby put hot sauce on the noodles but gave up on that after a few bites. I open the bag of seafood and see nothing but oyster shells and muscle shells. Did they put someones garbage in my bag?! I guess I can't review those 2 items since they weren't there to review. The crawfish and shrimp was rubbery as hell and they left the shit in the shrimp! On a positive note, the spicy sauce and corn on the cob was ok. Maybe this place is reviewed solely on happy hour? Food is better when you're tipsy.
