    Flounder Sandwich
    Katie A.

You can't beat the views at 9th Ave Pier! This waterfront spot is the perfect place to grab drinks on a sunny day. My husband and I decided to stop by for lunch yesterday and were happy to get seated right away. There's a ton of seating at high top tables, regular tables, and a large bar. We opted for a high top so that we could sit by the water and enjoy the views. They had live music, which added to the ambiance. Our waitress, Fiona, was really friendly and the service was surprisingly fast given how busy it was. Unfortunately, it makes sense why the food comes out so quickly...because it's average at best. I ordered the flounder sandwich which was really bland. Instead of one piece of breaded fish there were numerous pieces, all of which were over-breaded and tough. Even with the side of Tartar sauce, the sandwich was so dry. I ended up asking for another side, but it didn't help much. My husband's fish and chips were a little more edible, but still pretty underwhelming. Next time we'll visit for drinks and skip the food!

What a fantastic view. It was unfortunate to leave the beach because of rain and Thunder but we found this vibrant restaurant/bar with good appetizer food. Dan our waiter was very accommodating and attentive. We ordered tasty summer drinks a platter of nachos and calamari. Even when it started to rain again our outlook remained happy and cheery! Will be nice to return when the weather improves to enjoy 9th Avenue Pier even more

Beautiful setting, truly a perfect place to enjoy the sunset while you have dinner. Food is served in a casual setting on plastic plates. Nothing outstanding but the food was good. Highly recommend the fish and chips. The fish sandwich comes with fresh chips, also really good. The issue we had was that the food took a long time to come out, probably an hour. I do understand that many places are short staffed. When we inquired the waitress apologized, and later the manager also came by to apologize. But we had noticed the table next to us arrived later and was served sooner.

The food looks good, but it is not sadly. I threw away my entire meal after two bites and I hate throwing away food. The calamari was $15 and the flounder sandwich was $17. Both were extremely mediocre and gave me a stomach ache. They had absolutely no flavor and were drenched in oil. Not only that the service there wasn't too great. The server that we had was nice but we only saw her twice from how busy and crowded the place was. When we arrived at the table there was no silverware or napkins we had to ask for everything multiple times. For being a waterfront restaurant I expected so much better. Very disappointed and I would not recommend coming here.

Very nice ambience and view. Not to crowded with Covid 19 rules somewhat unforced. Very few options in food/drinks were available, and that was minus. Drinks were good , food was just ok, best part was the guacamole. Resanoble priced, so I will go back after COVID-19 restrictions pass to see if menu gets more options.

My review is based on the bar and drinks, I didn't eat heI'm so glad this bar/ restaurant was able to operate during and after covid. The views of the water are very cool. It's nice to have a meal and relax by the water watching fishing and tour boats sail by. There is a good amount of outdoor seating on the pier. You can have a relaxing lunch or dinner while you sit and watch the sun setting. There are two large rectangular bars with plenty of seating. Parking can be tricky. There is free parking but you'll have to drive all the way around to the back of the building. Most people think you park in the front directly across from this place. If you do park in the front there's a charge and it's metered and you must download an app in order to pay online. There are no signs that say free parking so most people don't know to drive around to the side. We had two really nice bartenders, who kept my group continually quenched with their unique drinks. I did not try the food yet so I can't comment on that. When I was at Pier 9 there was a constant breeze. There also was a band playing while having drinks or eating which is a definite plus. I would highly suggest stopping by if your in the area, or your looking for a cool place to meet up with friends then this is a cool place. Fee

Had a pretty good lunch here on a cool Saturday in June. All the staff were pretty nice and the service was quick drinks are reasonably priced for a premium location they have a decent beer menu. I got a margarita which I didn't have high hopes for but it was very OK it definitely didn't disappoint but I wasn't going to order another one. We got chips and guacamole as an appetizer but there was not enough chips and there was no charge on the menu for more chips which was bizarre. I have the black bean burger which came with housemaid chips which was spicy but generally pretty good with some catch-up. Parking can be a total nightmare at this location due to the multiple restaurants fishing boats and river beach here. Just be patient drive slow and look for spots under the Route 35 bridge or in the dirt parking lot a few hundred yards away from the pier.

Unique spot right on the water with tons of outdoor seating and a large bar area. The thing that got me when I walked by was the smell. It smelled like sewage so not sure if it was low tide or something but wasn't pleasant. Doubt it was the places fault but since they are next to the marina it happens. They had a band playing all the classic songs which gave it a nice vibe. The food was ok. The coconut shrimp wasn't bad and the southern chicken sandwich was probably the best thing we had. It was served with chips which were a nice snack. The spicy crab dip was horrible so don't order that. I would come back for a drink but not to eat. Hopefully that smell is gone by then!

But I think we caught them on an extremely off night. We had a reservation and came in on time. We were told to sit down and that another waiter would come by to show us to our table. We waited for ten minutes before we were seated, and in that time another bigger party came in and were seated before us. Even when we were seated, the new waiter said he thought we were just waiting for appetizers, and didn't realize we even needed a table. Had we not said anything, we would have been waiting even longer to be seated even with the reservation. We quickly placed our drink and food orders, and this is when service continued to decline. It was clear that there were only two waiters for the smaller dinning room, and yet they were doing a little bit of everything. Our first waitress was also folding silverware, moving clean dishes back to the kitchen, and checking in on the entire dining room. Our second waiter was also the bartender, food runner, and table buser. Needless to say, they needed more hands on deck. I know they were doing their best, but an hour to get our food is really ridiculous. And in that time we were not checked on for water refills or just to ask if we needed anything. Even when our food came out, we had to stop one of the two waiters and ask about the food. Only then, after a few more minutes did they get the food from the kitchen. While not shown in the picture, we got the brussel sprouts and carrot appetizer. This was the only food item we were kind of disappointed with as we couldn't really taste any sriracha, and felt we could have made something similar at home. Other than that, when our three main dishes finally did come out, they were served hot and everything was cooked very well. We all really enjoyed the food we ordered. Really good, but also not out-of-this-world like the price and reviews suggested. In the end, the service was just extremely slow and the price of the food was very high (about $30 per person for three people plus two drinks about $15 each), making it very hard to justify the overall experience. And even though the food was really good, I would not say it was worth going through the extremely long wait.

The restaurant was located in a multi-floor home on Wesley Lake, just around the corner from the hustle and bustle of Cookman Avenue. The first floor was more of a bar and lounge, and they had a live jazz band on the evening we visited. We checked in with the hostess and were escorted up to the second floor dining room, which was a charming spot that was breezy and comfortable, yet refined. The floor also had its own bar. Our server was on top of things, but was also clearly newer to the place. Regardless, once we got settled, she took our drink orders, which had taken us some time to decide on since the menu was creative and vast. I went with A Sidecar Named Desire, which included Courvoisier VSOP, Cointreau, Chinola passionfruit liqueur, and fresh lemon juice. I adore passion fruit and had always liked sidecars as well, so I figured it was worth a try, and I loved it! It had a good balance of tart sweetness and smokiness. My friend similarly enjoyed her spicy margarita, and we both imbibed while picking on some bread and herb butter. For our meal, we decided to start by sharing the Greek Salad, which was a massive bowl of romaine topped with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, red onions, and Kalamata olives. We left off the feta cheese, but enjoyed the seasoned dressing made of red wine vinegar, honey, salt, oregano, and olive oil. It was a fresh and flavorful mix of vegetables that was a pleasure to eat. The entree options were endless and offered something for everyone. I wound up going with the Chilean Sea Bass, which was served over sweet onions and potatoes in a tomato herb reduction. The fish was tender and perfectly cooked. It was a light and tasty dish that seemed perfect for the Spring season. After our meals we were a bit too full for dessert, but we decided to get a second round of drinks, mainly because I was dying to try their Pistachio Espresso-Tini. Wow, was that drink delicious! It blended Ketel One Vodka, Mozart White Chocolate Liqueur, natural pistachio flavor, and fresh espresso. The coffee notes were not super prevalent, but the creaminess, nuttiness was the real highlight. It was a decadent way to end a delicious meal. After we settled the bill and headed downstairs, I noticed several bowls of after-dinner mints, which were a nice touch. From the relaxed atmosphere to the interesting and expansive menu, Moonstruck was a terrific option for our Asbury dinner experience.

The sushi is fresh and tasty, we enjoyed the seared scallop appetizer. My sushi (Tiger roll) was magnificent. The Yuzu lobster roll could have had a bit less rice in the roll but was otherwise very enjoyable. The combination of fish in this roll paired very nicely together. Taka has a vast menu with many options from appetizers to specialty sushi options. They provide alcoholic and non alcoholic mocktails for those of us not interested in consuming liquor.....the mocktails are fantastic. The only thing that made me rate 4 instead of 5 stars was the staff needs a bit of work on serving. We ordered an appetizer and were also given two additional small plates since we were sharing this item. When we were done with the appetizer our specialty sushi plates were bought out and the same server left the three empty plates from the appetizers on the table instead of removing them. Dessert was absolutely decadent and moist (I omitted the whipped cream since I don't like it) but the shortcake was perfect without it. I look forward to returning to Taka and trying more items on the menu.
