I visited the 9th avenue Pier on the business's first Saturday. It is a great location right on the water, and great for sunsets. It was very crowded and they had live music during the early evening. The problem with this place however, was the fact that all the tables are first come, first serve. There is no wait list or any system in order to sit down, which is really frustrating if you head there to eat. I would hope they fix that system. So I can't say anything for the food as we had to leave to eat, it didn't seem likely we would find a table. Beyond the table issues however, the bar is a great place to get an afternoon drink, great setting. read more

Great location for sure. You feel like you are on a vacation with this place being right on the water and almost always a nice breeze. The cons are you have to drink your drinks in plastic cups and drinks are pricey. Worse part is their food. Best to go on a full stomach. Even the nacho chips are pathetic. Just a small basket of mediocre chips with a small side of guacamole. No salsa. Food items also pricey for what they are and just so so at best. Too bad because it could be a great place for burgers and great salads if they only made them great. But, it is all about location, right? That they get an A. Went here with a few friends for some drinks and a light dinner. The atmosphere is probably the best part, just beware it can get wicked crowded at times. Seating is definitely scarce but if you hang out long enough you can get a table. The bucket drinks are good and the food isn't bad either. For a place that has to pump out hundreds (maybe thousands) of plates a day the quality is above what you would expect - a couple grades past "fast food". I don't know how the servers keep track of everything given the volume of people each one has to serve. I would come back here but I would prefer to go when it's not so packed. read more

First, I was so happy to find an outdoor restaurant, but this ended up being an expensive mistake. To start, the table was dirty when we were seated. When I asked to have it clean, the waiter said "it's already been cleaned". So I said "why are there crumbs and sticky drink rings." He reluctantly cleaned it with a dirty rag. AND he acted was like I was putting him out to clean it. I thought we were suppose to be in a Covid cleaning frenzy in this wacky world. Why was the table dirty and sticky? I should have taken I clue from that. The menu was only by QR reader which no one at my table had on our phones. We had to download an app and pass the phone around to 6 people. The menu is very limited. Nothing special or fancy. The calamari was dry, tough and the sauce was awful. Salad just lettuce with little extras as stated on the menu. The extremely expensive drink was watered down with no taste of liquor. When I told the waiter that the drink didn't taste like it had liquor it in, he said he would put a shot of liquor in it and then HE CHARGED me for it!! I didn't know until the bill came. The meal was over priced and not good at all. Service was so slow! I even had to ask for napkins. He didn't even bring us napkins!! AND he brought 2 small thin napkin per person. It ripped immediately and he never came around for us to ask for more. Service was slow and inadequate. I am not happy about wasting money!! Watching the sunset and enjoying dinner and drinks here is one of my favorite parts of summer. Honestly, I come for the amazing view, but the food is also quite good too. Salads are fresh with generous portions. I get the chicken quesadilla sometimes, and it has a good amount of meat in it which is something I value. I can't comment on other entrees because I always get the same two things here (the salad or quesadilla). The drinks are always refreshing and well made here! This place is great! The location is beautiful and I highly recommend catching a sunset here. I went with two friends and we had three of their "buckets" to share. My favorite was The Suzie Girl, but they were all tasty and surprisingly strong. We ordered jerk chicken nachos, coconut shrimp and spicy crab dip. Was looking forward to having dinner there based on the really nice view the pier offers. Sadly, that was the only positive. The menu is limited and overpriced. The burgers do not comes with fries. This is a first. Order the fries and it's puts the meal over $20.00 (w/tax) and it's no different than any other burger you can get anywhere for about half the price w/fries. To boot, my wife's medium-well burger had plenty of red. As much as we do not send food back this had to go. No less than 30 minutes it arrives which by that time ruined the dinner we were having with our daughter from out of state. In general the service took too long. Additionally, the live music would have been good if a few decibels lower. Way too loud for a dinner crowd that enjoys conversion. This review is based on my one and only visit. read more

Lauren was an amazing server, we always had whatever we needed. I don't usually do reviews, and I just had to tonight because I was talking with my friends at the table how impressed I was with her service. When you are at the shore on a beautiful night, you sometimes expect to have to wait for a drink. Not here. The band was also very good, not too loud, not too soft. I would probably like the house music to be a little louder in between sets, but not too much. Love this spot in the summer. It's crowded most of the time, but it is a great outdoor venue and fantastic views of the sunset. Right in the marina in Belmar. So I would not go here for the culinary experience. However, they make strong drinks ( always a plus), have a great view of shark river. And Apparently a great place to watch the sunset ( it was cloudy when we were there) . Jill was our server and she was wonderful! It's a great place to meet up with friends, have a few drinks, soak in the water view and maybe get a few shareable munchies for the table. There was a live band for a little bit while we were there as well. I'd say it's a good spot to hit up while you're in belmar. Also you walk up and purchase food and then give them your table number . A server will come and keep your drink tab, but food they'll deliver once you've ordered it at the counter. The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because of the location. Waterfront with beautiful views overlooking the Shark River. Otherwise, everything is overpriced and you feel like you're being taken advantage of. They offer: canned beer only, weak cocktails, and subpar fried food that is carnival quality at best. This place is like many other pier bars/restaurants. Love the marina view. Pier 9 has a pretty decent cocktail menu mostly of frozen drinks and cocktail buckets. They also have bands that come and preform- very jersey/beachy vibe. Once you're seated you have a waitress who takes your cocktail order, each table is numbered, your server will instruct you to take a look at the menu then order from the yellow shed. My party ordered a variety of things fish tacos, oysters, burger, blackened mahi sandwich- all good. My boyfriend ordered the special pier burrito unfortunately when it came to the table it was more of a wrap than a burrito not sure if it was supposed to be like that but he wasn't happy. All in all we had a nice day. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to come back to eat here but great place to kick back on a nice day and have a few cocktails. read more

Let me start by saying the atmosphere here is incredible and you can't beat the location, right on the water, so many seats, live band, etc. However, the food and drinks were just so-so. I ordered a rum bucket and it tasted like there was maybe a shots worth of alcohol and the rest was orange juice.. And it was $15. The margaritas (at $9 each) were not good either. For the food, the crab dip and quesadillas were pretty good. I got the ahi tuna as an entree ($16) and I've had much better before. I tried the typhoon shrimp ($17) and it was alright as well, nothing special. Seemed like there was a lot of batter on the outside and maybe frozen beforehand? I'm surprised by the lack of stars. I really did love this place. Haven't read any of the other reviews, but ill post my review first. First things first, this is no beer garden. There are no random drunk kids, no partying, no raving. The crowd here is a relaxed drunk group of adults, mostly 27+ with your 40 year olds hanging around too. I'm only 28, but I find this kind of scene relaxing. It's a place to hang out with a group of friends, and enjoy a drink or two or three, and have some conversation. Atmosphere: BEAUTIFUL outdoor seating, great for a first date! Amazing view, amazing live music. Just all in all a beautiful place to be, away from the "jersey shore" type of crowd. Service: I'm imagining that the bad reviews are because of service? It can get a bit confusing. You order your food in one place, and order your drinks from the waitress - confusing for some, but you need to learn to just go with it. Our waitress was nice, nothing to complain about. Food: I had the watermelon feta salad, also tried the hummus, the shrimp and some oysters. * watermelon salad * to die for! Refreshing on a hot summer day, I loved it! Okay so they serve seafood, but it's not like the best seafood ever. You come here for the ambience, the atmosphere, the positive energy. If you want amazing seafood, go to the Swan Oyster Depot in San Francisco. If you want an enjoyable night out in Belmar, come here! I did hear the key line pie was not so great. Drinks: I'm not a big drinker, had a tub or something of the mixed drinks they have. Some of my friends got pretty drunk-but these were more the strongest. Love/hate. 9th ave Pier is a great spot for drinks, music and watching the sunset on the water. The menu is limited but tasty. The staff at the door was very nice however, the security guard in the back by the wet bar was rude. My friend was in a biking accident and we asked the security guard for a chair while we waited- he said absolutely not, if she gets one everyone's going to want one. Meanwhile, all he had to say was no if anyone else wanted a chair. We went to Marina Grille (sand owners) the following week and also had a security guard just flat out nasty to us. It puts a sour taste in your mouth IMMEDIATELY. Ive worked in the restaurant industry for many years and understand the patience it takes but we did nothing to be treated so rudely. Got excited to hear about new place at the shore. Klein's is horrible and keeps getting worse but not many choices down here. Finally a place with nice view of water, outside seating. The arrangements are little strange with how to order etc. But placed our lunch order, got some raw, sat our butts down at the bar, listened to a weak live band but it's all good on a sunny weekend. Food is weak, barely fish themed, but reasonable menu pricing. No drink specials, happy hours etc. Heard it's absolutely packed at night. I wish the food menu had a couple more options as well; no one in my party really orders food from there because we do not like what is on the menu.
