The 9th Ave. Pier offered a beautiful location to enjoy a drink with friends. It is right on the water and while the food is only mediocre the view is spectacular. I had the Sirloin Steak kabob. The menu is actually quite inventive but eh quality was only average. I had to ask myself if I will come back and I certainly hope to- hence the 4 star review. There are some negatives to this place- the ordering system is quite odd. You order your drinks from a server and food from a separate tent/ stand. You pay for the food as you order it and it is delivered to your table. Drinks are paid to the waiter. It is a bit confusing but it is pure genius for groups as you can each order what you like and pay for yourself. Tip: Bring a jacket! It gets cold on the water. read more

I arrived around 5pm, just in time to enjoy the warm sun and see the sun set as I was eating dinner. I was impressed that there live music, even for a Wednesday night. Food: 3 stars The food was okay, nothing to rave about. I ordered the crab cake and was disappointed when I realized that it was fried. There was also burgers and other fish dishes on the menu. The servers only took your drink order but were very attentive. There is a full bar but no bar menu.. basically the server let us know that they can make whatever drink we wanted. Four of us went for dinner and drinks yesterday. A band came on so we decided to stay and enjoy the music. We continued to order drinks and kept the tab running. ( Spent $300 and a very generous tip.) We were asked to leave as there is a 90 minute rule. Watched the guy go around to other tables to say the same. We were in shock!!! We are in our 50's and 60's and go out every weekend. We have never ever heard of such a thing. There was not a long line waiting to get in either. We have gone to 9th Ave a lot over the years, but we will never ever go there again! We don't even mind that everything is overpriced, drinks were skimpy, and food was just ok. This place is great for what it is. Don't expect a five star seafood restaurant. Expect a very nice space to enjoy your evening with beautiful views, vacation-style drinks, some pretty decent food, and live music. Their service style is a little different than usual. The servers take care of your drinks, but you order food from the front trailer and they're brought out to you. The menu is casual seafood and non seafood fare. Sandwiches, salads, appetizers, and a few entrees. I've had the lobster roll which wasn't my favorite but still good. Tonight we shared the spicy crab and spinach dip which was AWESOME but they didn't serve enough pita with the dip. We asked for more which they brought out to us but it still wasn't enough. They brought us out tortilla chips to finish out the third remainder of the dip. I definitely preferred the tortilla chips to the pita. We also had the special volcano calamari. It was great, and it was sort of a Thai style sweet and sour dipping sauce. Then we shared the steamed clams. Some were closed. But the open ones were good and we really liked the sauce. Overall this place is great for a casual pier night. The crowd is very mixed. All ages enjoy this place. I've been here before a night out and also as the main event. For those who live near the area, it's an awesome getaway. It feels just like vacation. read more

I visited this place after a charter fishing trip. If you want food you order at a cashier to the left and to the right there are plenty of tables and a long bar with plenty of stools. We ordered the steamed shrimp, oysters, and a soup. At the bar we ordered one of the drinks that came in a bucket. The drinks were tasty but not strong enough at all for the amount of liquid in the bucket. The food, we only really ate because we had already ordered and paid for it separately. The shrimp did not have much flavor and may have been sitting in/on some melted ice. The soup and oysters weren't great either. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. I would probably only visit again for a drink if I were in the area. read more

Was here once after a fishing trip last year and thought it was great. Just went yesterday for lunch and the experience was totally different. Once we we sat down no one came over. I know that you have to order your own food and that the servers are there for the drinks so I was waiting to order that before the food. 10 mins in and the 4 servers that were standing right next to us just kept about their conversation. I went and ordered our drinks and then our food. Sit back down waiting for the food and I need another beer. Nothing has changed from earlier, servers just standing around talking. Go and get my own beer again which is ok with me bc it's faster than waiting for someone since they never once came over. Finish eating and waiting to pay the tab and still no interaction between any servers. Go to the bar and the guy back there has no idea what's going on. Tell him my table, what we ordered, that the bartender didn't take a card from me and had no idea who my server was because we never had one. He's confused and has me wait while he looks for the bartender then one of the servers says that she was our server. That was pretty interesting bc I never even talked to her. So while all of this is going on a family of 8 walk in, stand there looking around and at the servers trying to figure what's going on. 5 mins pass and they leave. Since I make commission at my job I saw this as watching money walk away. No biggie I guess bc the manager was standing right there and didn't say a word about what just happened nor did he offer to help the people. That's madness to me. If you don't want to make money during the day just close and wait for the night time when you plan on helping people. All in all the view is great but sit at the bar if you want someone to get you drinks in a timely manner. read more

Great bar on the bay! very chill place to have drinks and watch the sunset. the location cant be beat and there is plenty of room (they recently expanded further around the dock). we have always found seating here, and it is usually a good crowd there, just doesn't feel cramped. good live music most nights, not much dancing but not really that kind of place. the food is ok, nothing great. the ordering process is different...you walk up to place order and take a number, then they bring it out. it's efficient, but i would recommend it for snacks/apps only not meal. highly recommend this place, it's our first choice of bars in the area. read more

My bf and I were here twice last weekend and both times enjoyed ourselves very much. We live in Southern Calif so we are use to beautiful water views and this place did not disappoint. The drinks were good , the prices reasonable. The service was great. Both times we had their onion dip and homemade chips and it was delicious!! I even called them and asked what they put in it , it was that good . We also had the calamari which was very good and the lobster bisque soup and we loved it. The chicken wrap had a lot of flavor too... overall we really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The live music was fun to listen to and made for a fun vibe . On a beautiful Friday night we were lucky to get a table right on the water which was nice! The view is fantastic! The drinks are average and the food menu is very limited. We found it a little strange that you order drinks via a waitress but for food you have to go up and get it yourself. No issues with our orders and service was quick. Went to this place for the first time this weekend. The good part: the views are spectacular. Great idea to make use of this marina that was kinda dumpy back in the 90's. The bad: everything else. The seat yourself procedure made just trying to sit down stressful. The place was packed so we were left to stalk tables like hawks, trying to determine whose table was empty because they had just sat down or were about to leave. We had to stand around the perimeter of the seating area and when we finally found people getting up, it resulted in my mom having to practically get into fisticuffs with another patron who hadn't waited as long as us! Once seated, we bused our own table and cleaned it off ourselves. After about a solid 15-20 minutes, our waitress approached us and asked us our drink order and said she's back back with menus. Another 15-20 minutes later, and having to ask her again, the menus came, although she brought us 2 (there were 4 of us). The ordering procedure of going up to the counter and ordering was fine. The food came out fairly quickly and my salad was not bad (but not great either, just meh all around). Thankfully, we paid for our food at the counter but we still had to wait another 20 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge us and tell us she'd come back with our check. Another 10-15 minutes, the check FINALLY arrived. I have worked in busy restaurants on the shore and I know how busy and hectic it can get, but this girl just seemed oblivious to our table, which considering she's only getting drinks for tables, I just don't know why it was this difficult to get service. The waitress was very nice, but the service was still terrible. The other empoyees were genuinely pleasant but unconcerned about the table situation, our orders, etc. in general. This place is priced just high enough that I don't see the point in coming back for dinner. Maybe a drink at the bar just to enjoy the view but otherwise, no way. read more

OK, I absolutely hate this place...hand's down hate it! I have been a few times, and I just hate it. I am a local, and I still hate it. I talk anyone I can out of going here. Go to Klein's if you want good service, entertainment, and some water around you...seriously. I feel like I am walking into a carnival when I come here, and not in a good way. Just the whole set-up with trailers is unappealing. Yes, it is on the water and yes they have music, but everything else is a sh*t-show. If I wanted to go to a counter to order food, I would go to McDonald's or some other drive-up spot...at least I'd get my order quicker if I did that! The fact that you have to fight through a crowd to order your food is about the most obnoxious thing I can think of when I go out to eat. You order and pay, and then they give you a bucket with your number on it for the food-runner to find you. Not only does that suck, but they serve it to you on cheap-a*s Styrofoam with plastic utensils that break when you use them... Grrrrrr... Brilliant way to piss off your customers. The food is not even worth it. Onto the drinks....Mixed drinks and wines...all served in plastic cups...small ones at that. If you are thirsty and at a table, be prepared to wait. The servers are so rattled that it is almost funny...I say almost because by the time you get your food and drinks, you're in a bad mood because by now your food is cold and your drinks warm. When the sunset view really catches your eye go take a few pictures of it have someone take a picture of you and you girlfriend/boyfriend/mom whoever. Then leave and go enjoy all the partying and great food that belmar has to offer. There's nothing wrong with this place but after the view I mean I haven't found a reason to stay and you can walk to a dozen GREAT places to eat. read more

In a nutshell food sucks beautiful spot. I got a very expensive lobster roll and they totally ripped me off. They literally sprinkled a few crumbs of lobster on a huge clump of lettuce. The atmosphere and view are worth a trip to 9th Ave Pier. I could sit out on the pier every night of the summer...surrounded by water, good live music, and awesome sunsets. I'll admit the food isn't spectacular, but it's still good. It's certainly not bad enough to warrant a 2 star rating. And I don't understand the complaints about the drinks - the rum buckets are delicious, though a bit pricey. Side note: They own a mini golf course nearby, so if you have children you can send them down to play while you enjoy a couple more drinks. read more

My party was charged $150.00 on two separate cards on a bill that was $34 because the waitress had no clue what she was doing, in the end the bill was still charged incorrectly to the cards. The food is so over-priced and not enjoyable to eat at all. My boyfriend ordered french fries, which were dry and tasted like they had been sitting around for hours. Not sure how one can mess up french fries. I ordered chips & guacamole ($9). It tasted like I took a bite out of an onion. Terrible! We were sitting next to a group of middle-aged men who were so incredibly drunk at 5pm they were SCREAMING and blowing some sort of whistle. My boyfriend and I were sitting right next to one another and we could literally not hear one another. Other people sitting at the bar were also noticeably annoyed by the loud group.The bartenders kept pouring them shots. So after we finished what we could eat of our terrible food, we moved our seats. Ridiculous. Their specialty cocktail drinks are incredibly sweet- some taste like liquid medicine. They're over priced, as well. Beers are a good option and the wine selection is not bad- but don't get the house selections. Sunsets are beautiful and its nice to have an option to sit outside on the water, but that's about it. read more
