Article lacquered on dining table. Very creative & historical!

Sorry - I didn't take pictures but you'll have to believe me that this place was great. Our waitress was very good with taking our orders & special requests. The food arrived hot and was very good. One of my friends got something she always gets that looked like a skillet with lots of veggies. I got scrambled eggs with bacon, American potatoes (that were sliced and not cubed), biscuit & gravy. The biscuit was so flaky - truly homemade. The waitress was great at giving us coffee refills and just being attentive to our large group. The tables had news articles that were lacquered onto the tables regarding the history of Highland. So very interesting! Love it! As you know, I'm a Coca-Cola girl - no Coke just Pepsi so one less star.

This is a somewhat hidden place in Highland. Unless you're a local you've probably never heard about it and how to get there. It's nearly disguised as a house since it's on a residential street which borders the business district. But either way, it's a great hidden gem. It's a great senior citizen's place, as they are open during certain hours. And in 2024, they will only accept cash - not that it's a bad thing. They do have a great menu, and some may say the food is not top quality. But the prices are very reasonable, whether you're coming here for breakfast and lunch. Service is great as well. Lots of Highland history on display too.

Best diner breakfast in the area. Amazing prices, huge portions. I will definitely be back. The smothered hash browns are an absolute must. I would love to just get a big plate of those. Friendly service. I can't wait to try even more menu items!

This cafe is the epitome of what a greasy spoon should be, in all the best ways. My boyfriend's family is from the area and swears by 9th st. We were even chastised for visiting without them. For such a hole in the wall, the Social distancing was good. Our Waitstaff was kind and accommodating. The food was phenomenal. The portion sizes were huge! I had the western omelette with smothered hash browns. And I ate nearly all of it, which is even more impressive when you see the size. 10/10 would frequent.

Place lacked reviews, but the reviews were good so I thought I'd give it a shot for breakfast…read more Reviews were accurate. I had biscuits and gravy and hash brown casserole, they taste like the best homemade you could get. Coffee was perfect, I drank it black. I passed on the baked goods, but I will definitely return here to try them. The atmosphere is definitely different, but it is relaxed and quiet. Almost like a bed and breakfast? But without the bed lol. You walk into a counter, which is also where you order and pay, and where the baked goods are displayed. Server was kind and asked how they could help me and I was confused and thought maybe I went in the wrong entrance lol. The dining area is not visible from the counter. I said I would like to dine in, they took my order at the counter, and directed me to the dining area, which is to the right of the counter past a living space. The dining area is a small, quiet room, which I really enjoyed. Everything was clean, service was great, they were attentive but not overbearing. Price was appropriate. This place is definitely a hidden gem.

But the waiter seemed to be host, waiter, bus boy...and none of it fast. I don't know why, but people came after us, ordered, ate, paid, and left before we got our food. It was a long hour+ wait. No explanation. We were not in a hurry but I'm always baffled when you have such a super long wait with no explanation and no apology. Seeing people come and go as we waited was bizarre. My food was good. Chicken buffalo sandwich and mashed potatoes. Very homey. As we neared the end of eating, our Jack-of-all-trades waiter brought the check and informed us they were closed and seemed to clearly be rushing us out. Umm. We are not the reasons we were there for so long Anywho. It was good. Comfort food type stuff.

We ordered takeout, and while the food was warm, the quality was unbelievably poor. I ordered the Everette's Farmhouse Breakfast Platter, and not only were the biscuits and gravy missing, but the hashbrowns were so overdone they were stuck together--you couldn't even get through them, let alone bite into them. There was even a burn hole through the box, which I can only assume came from their food heater. The eggs were alright and honestly the only part of the meal that was edible. Overall, really disappointing.
