I am a Hot/Sour Soup Expert 9+ I make a habit of visiting Mongolian Buffets in every city, and having Hot & Sour - soup - I am tough to impress, but I was VERY impressed with their H&S soup, It gets a 9+ from Computer John. Not to mention all over the website they said (whatever night we went; I blocked it out of my memory) was crab leg night... So we show up... No crab legs. This is an interesting set-up. The food is pretty much standard heat/fry/dump as far as buffets go. It's "small" so things are not in huge portions on the buffet which for some reason is always a turn off for me. The pans with one or two scoops in them look like it's empty to me. The grill is good. It's one of the few places in town that uses white meat chicken. I like it that way so I actually go there for that reason sometimes. But the best part of the entire event of dining here is the manager/owner. He's a complete hoot. He's fast to say hello, he's always working a deal or offer. You can tell he takes pride in his work and his place. It's rare that you find someone that is so connected with his business, but this guy is on it. I understand why some people like this place... Most of their food may TASTE fairly good, but it is very unhealthy for several reasons that I'm about to list. Let's just say that people are not observing what goes on in the buffet concerning it's hygiene... There are a few pros to this place, but the cons heavily outweigh the pros, and in a hazardous way. I will explain why: Pros: It does have a wider variety of food to select from than of what the average oriental buffet offers. On top of that, most of the staff is generally friendly. They will usually serve you with a smile, and they will also ask you if you would like a refill, so I'm glad to see that most of them care for the customer's happiness. The pot stickers taste good, as well as the sushi. Overall, most of the food here was decent taste-wise. I do enjoy the well-decorated oriental atmosphere as well. Cons: The tables & seats are not always clean and sometimes are still covered with smudge, unknown liquids, crumbs, etc... The buffet severely lacks hygiene; I have seen unsupervised children who drool & pick their nose, ears, mouth, etc. touching the tongs, as well as the countertops. Food tends to fall off of people's tongs when they are trying to put it on their plate, and on pretty much every occasion I've went to this place I saw an employee scoop the food that landed on the germ infested countertops back into the food container for people to grab & eat; this happens mainly with the Lo Mein, but also applies for all other pieces of food that they may spot on the counter as well. I observed how the employees "clean" the countertops; they slide a thin wet cloth over the countertops one time and assume the bacteria on the countertops is killed after they slid it across the entire counter just that one time. Before I knew what they were doing with the Lo Mein (as described above), I decided to try some and I regret trying it. The Lo Mein is clearly a day or two old; I say that because the edges of the noodles were extremely crusty & dark, and tasted crunchy, sour & foul. It is like this pretty much every single time we dine here so we usually stay away from the noodles, but personally I haven't dined here for months (you can probably guess why). I also believe that they serve customers' leftovers in the Lo Mein food container (and perhaps all of the others as well, because if they're doing it with this one, whose to say they aren't with the others as well?) - why I say that is because I occasionally see clumps of old Lo Mein compounded together that look like someone took a big chunk out of with their teeth; it was rigid and shaped exactly like a bite mark. There are also a couple occasions I discovered hair in my food; I was obviously disgusted. I also don't recommend eating at the back end of the room near the restrooms because in that area the smell of urination & defecation from the restrooms tends to travel out to the dining area where people are eating and tends to linger there for hours. Although I appreciate their hospitality, I don't appreciate how the restaurant is kept up concerning cleanliness. I have left this place feeling sick before, and as a result I haven't eaten there in months... I will probably never return to this place, and I advise you all to stay away from this place if you want to stay healthy. read more

The buffet selection seemed average size as we walked past, it has your standard buffet dishes. But, it also has more seafood based dishes than normal, including a pan of crab legs, in shell. All the food from the buffet tasted better then most places I've been to. Plus, there is a Mongolian Grill. The available items to grill was slightly less than expected, but it still cooked up a tasty dish. Instead of soft serve ice cream, it is set up like an ice cream parlor. A freezer with about 8 different flavors, that you scoop out on your own. A welcome choice of flavors compared to just vanilla or chocolate. read more

The buffet is a typical Chinese buffet with a wide variety of foods (fruits, Mongolian grill, meet entrees, soups, American food, fried foods, etc.). Great food. I usually go between breakfast and lunch for the brunch buffet. It has an assortment of breakfast foods along with the traditional chinese foods (traditional for a buffe I guess). The eggs are always awesome, sausage is good (they changed their links for some reason, they used to be enormous), bacon is cooked perfect (though sometimes it's in very small strips...), and the biscuits and gravy are good. For the lunch part I usually help myself to the teriyaki chicken, peanut butter chicken, crab rangoons, fried stuffed mushrooms, fried potatoes, and the General Tsao chicken. All of it is very good, I'v never had anything that tasted "bad" here. They do a great job at making sure everything is full and not dirty. They had a good rating with the Douglas County Helath Board which reassured me to come back (other buffets didn't do so hot). Service is good, they're always on top of things, and the manager is always there to greet you. He does a great job at remembering previous customers also! read more

You know, this is a small buffet. Nothing fancy. BUT, what they do have going for them is that the great wait staff and the very personable owner, who is almost ALWAYS at the front door, greeting people and providing pleasant conversation. The food has a nice assortment and is served at appropriate temperature. They were open on Christmas Eve. We tipped the server above and beyond. Because she deserved it. *This should be called the F-Buffet*.I have been to many Chinese buffets, this is by far the worst. The food quality was absolutely terrible, even Panda Express is way above this place. Everything in the buffet looked so bad I couldn't decide what to get, i thought the sweet and spicy chicken looked decent then when I went to pick it up it was sitting in water. I love fried rice and crab ran goons religiously, but the fried rice was bright yellow and the crab ran goons were abnormally small and did not look trustworthy. Also there was some women screaming in the kitchen that was easily heard whenever the door swinged open, probably because the microwave wouldn't heat up the freeze dried food fast enough. This was our first and last time to eat at the A+ Buffet & Mongolian Grill. My husband had Sesame Chicken with lomein noodles, the chicken was dry and the noodles tasted very bland. I had chicken with vegetables, with brown sauce and fried rice. Everything was cut way to big, larger than bite size, and the brown sauce had a horrible taste that left the whole meal with a horrible weird taste. We also ordered, vegetable spring rolls and crab raccoon. They both had a very odd flavor and texture to them. We spent almost $27 for the worst Chinese food I had to throw away. read more

This place is awesome. The owner is super friendly and it's such a great value. You can find two-for-one coupons pretty easily and soft drinks are only $.99. My girlfriend and I had a complete lunch for around $12 for both of us (including a 20% tip). The mongolian grill doesn't have a huge selection, but it certainly has the essentials. The rest of the buffet was pretty good too. The crab rangoon is very good here. It reminds me of China Buffet before they became too overpriced. read more

I love this buffet. My friend and I used to go in once a week. We had a specific server who always remembers our drink order, and even brings us a pitcher so we can refill as needed. We had really been enjoying A+ Buffet for several months now. We eat there probably 2-3 times a month. Also for several months we put up with the pushy, annoying manager on each visit. Tonight sealed the deal on my waivering decision to divorce A+ Buffet. Not only have we since found 2 other Chinese restaurants we enjoy more but the manager called us out in front of other customers about not wiping our feet on his mat at the entrance. He basically insisted that we go back, wipe any water/snow droplets off our shoes before entering his restaurant. Whatever. I'm sorry he didn't see us already wipe our shoes as we came in like a mannerly person would do. It's time for us to move on. Coincidently, tonight was the worst meal we've eaten there. See ya A+! They had ice cream you can scoop yourself but when eating their other deserts you could tell it had sat for awhile. Bleh! The manager or owner I'm not sure which, was very social. Great food. Not as many choices as some buffets, but the food is much better. The grill doesn't have as many choices as most Mongolian grills, but it has everything you need. My favorites are the coconut shrimp, chicken on a stick, and good rice. I've heard the peanut butter chicken is excellent, but I'm not a fan of peanuts. Overall, it is great. I have had better Chinese food from a Buffett. The service was good no problems with that the staff was friendly. There was a large selection of Chinese food and some American food. The Chinese food was just OK I was looking for the sesame chicken or orange chicken but could not find either. The crab Rangoon was really not that good and neither was the egg drop soup. Everything that I tried tasted like It had been sitting out for quite a while. I tried the Mongolian grill and it was again just OK. I probably would not try it again if I wanted to go to Mongolian grill I would go to huhot. It seemed clean for the most part nothing stood out to me. For a Buffett the food was average but I have had much better. read more

My favorite Chinese Buffet, and I was a China Buffet loyalist for years. What I like most is their Sunday Brunch! They have traditional American brunch food from eggs and bacon and sausage to biscuits and sausage gravy! But at the same time, they have their regular Chinese buffet food out. All of their food is great, with one exception- I don't know what is different about their Teriyaki chicken, but it's odd and not something I ever ate again after the first bite. They also have per-pound carry out which, in my opinion should be capped at the dine-in price, but it's not. You can't fit more in a box than you can on a plate, so a box shouldn't be able to cost $10 or $12 when a dine-in plate is $8. They have GREAT customer service, and once I wanted some sweet & sour chicken but they were out (20 mins before closing), and they asked me to wait just a couple minutes, ran back to the kitchen, and made some for me!! All the people are friendly, and I think it's a family business. A+ for A+ Buffet! read more

The three times I've been there the food was mediocre, at very best.. The hot food was not hot at all. The cold food was barely cold enough to not get you sick and it had all obviously been sitting out for a long time. They regularly receive a "Standard" rating (a score of "C" on a scale of A to F) from the Douglas County Health Department (which is barely passing).. I'm no germophobe, but they need to be held to higher standards and the only way to hold them to those standards is to get the word out about places that do not handle food properly. I recommend going somewhere else, like one of the HuHots or the China Buffet by Lowe's on 147th & West Maple. These places regularly get "Excellent" ("B") ratings so it's far cleaner, the food handled properly, and the food kept at appropriate temperatures. Just because you have not YET gotten sick does not mean you won't. And believe me, food poisoning is NO fun time!! Keep an eye on the Douglas County Health Department's restaurant rating list for EVERY restaurant you frequent, and if their rating is low, call and inform them that, because their rating is low, you won't be coming in until it comes back up. I love good Chinese food (especially on the Mongolian Grill) but this is a place to which I strongly recommend you not return. Unfortunately, a LOT of Chinese places are "Fair" (a "D" rating, just above getting shut down).
