My husband and I made the decision to convert to a gas fireplace when we learned that our see-through wood burning fireplace was built incorrectly and would cost us over $15K to fix with the caveat that it might not work properly even with the rebuild. We brought a quote from another company to Russ to evaluate and get a second opinion. Not only did he come in about 30% lower than the competitor, he was honest and forthright about what would be best for our situation. He did not try to sell us something more expensive or a set that would not work for our home. He answered every question and allowed us time to discuss the decision between ourselves. When we decided to have them do the install, he was able to get everything done in a timely fashion. The technician who installed the unvented gas log burner did a great job. He protected our floor while working and cleaned up everything. He offered to take away the grate that was used for burning wood. He let my husband know all the details for using the remote, leaving the glass doors open, etc. It heated our entire house so well that we had to turn it off for a while! Gabe Cerda who came out on a Sunday as a special service call to look at our heatilator that a previous Fireplace business was unable to get operating or properly diagnose spent almost 2 hours cleaning the igniter thoroughly and said unlike previous technician from other company and actually measured the strength of the power of the flames and waited to see if the levels dropped off. He undercharged us for over 2 hours service time to make sure the fireplace was going to hold the flame. To make a long story short the fireplace 2 months later still operates. Compared to a terrible unprofessional company that was not able to properly diagnose it or repair it would recommend a Cozy Fireplave as a HONEST CARING Professional BUSINESS. Gabe made a joke that " its always easier to be honest as is harder to keep your lies straight!!" Refreshing dealing with honesty and decency compared to previous company who took our money and didn't honor their work or word. read more

Ordered a fireplace insert in early December. Was told it would be 3 weeks (approx). Received a call a few weeks later that everything was in. The installer called me and said the liner was damaged so they would need to re-order it. Hoped to have it the next day however due to the holiday they were closed and the liner would be delayed another day. Liner arrived and we setup an installation time. Ran the liner, then prepared to bring the insert inside. Luckily the installer checked it prior to lugging this heavy thing in and discovered it was the wrong unit. Checked my paperwork and the person who came out to measure and order the parts used the wrong SKU with the description of the item I ordered. Spoke with the owner and he said they would order the other one. He called later in the day and said the factory was shutdown for a week so he would have to wait until they returned. I called the day they returned as I had not heard and he said he had ordered the unit and would contact me when it arrived. No calls and no updates for a week so I called on a Friday and the person who messed up the ordered answered the phone and said "yes, it's right here", then proceeded to tell me the installer would call me to schedule. After not hearing anything I called Tuesday and the owner said he thought the installed called and spoke with me to install on Wednesday. The installer called Wednesday and we were setup for Saturday. Other than the installer who did a great job the entire process was disorganized and not at all what I expected. No of an apology or any concession for the mixup and worst of all I had to chase them the entire time to find out what was going on with the unit. Most of these things are price protected anyway so if you're going to buy any of the brands they carry look elsewhere or you'll be disappointed. read more

We dealt with Russ & Fritz on three occasions and all have been very positive. We ordered a Kitchenmaid outdoor built in grill which they installed. That was 8 years ago and it is still working great. Then about 3 years ago we ordered replacement fireplace doors for our family room and bedroom fireplaces. Both were installed by them without any problems and they look fantastic. Finally about two months ago we hired them to reface our fireplace with ledgestone. We added a one piece limestone ledge for the hearth and a limestone edging around the fireplace door. They removed our built in book cases which were on either side of the fireplace and it really opened up the entire room. It is spectacular! I believe they are reputable, honest, and caring. Highly recommend!! My older gas fireplace had not worked for a couple years. I had multiple firms come out and spent several hundred dollars in the past to no avail and figured the fireplace was not fixable. Read the positive reviews and decided to try one more time... YAY!!! Their knowledgeable technicians were able to diagnose and resolve the problem and order the right part. (Previous firms charged for multiple visits but never able to correctly diagnose problem/correct part.) I am thrilled to have a working fireplace once again. Many of the products they sell are available at other dealers or on-line, but they took special care to teach me the pros and cons of different options and I am glad they did. Not only did I buy something different than what I had thought I would buy, I am incredibly happy with both purchases. The larger purchase was a gas stove/fireplace for our 3 season room. Awesome! They did such a nice job that I asked them to upgrade the fireplace insert in my main living room fireplace. It is incredibly lifelike and gives off amazing heat. We went into the store just to look and came out with a great solution to our fireplace needs. Russ was EXTREMELY helpful in determining the best fireplace insert and was very upfront about all the parts we may or may not need. We ended up with a new gas set, parts, and a geometric shaped set that is ultra modern. The installer that came out was right on time and finished the entire job, on Halloween, in under 3 hours including new pipe work. Do not do business with these guys! Their website says they have over 100 years of combined experience, yet, they installed two fireplace vents less than 2' from our home as required by the manufacturer and by code, with one being less than 4" away. This is a huge fire hazard, and could have caused a fire, putting my family at risk. They also installed the pipe to the wrong location. It was identified on stamped architectural drawings, yet they installed the pipe almost 2' away from where it was supposed to go. Their response to this was "i don't know about that", and "I can't say why it was installed that way". When I went to the manual which they left to get documentation on the required space that the vent must be installed at, the page for vent installation was torn out of the book. One vent was for our fireplace installed on the 1st floor, and the other was for a future fireplace to be installed in the basement. Their solution to this was to offer me free installation on the next fireplace that I purchased from them. Really??? Why on earth would I have them do any more work in my home??? To top it off, their quote for this fireplace with no installation was $1K higher than a quote from a competitor with installation. Free installation?? HA! If you want to put your family in danger, have sales guys who could care less about you, and have equipment installed in the wrong location, then these are your guys! read more
