I don't even know where to begin. Having to say goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. The thought of taking them to a cold, unfamiliar veterinary clinic during their final moments felt unbearable--not only for me, but for my dog, Cy, a beautiful Pitt Bull mix who had been our loyal companion for many years. About three months before we lost him, Cy was diagnosed with bone cancer. Unfortunately, the disease progressed incredibly fast. He went from a healthy 93 pounds down to 73 pounds in just a matter of weeks. When he could no longer comfortably walk on all four legs and was struggling to get around using only three, we knew it was time to make the most difficult decision a pet owner ever has to make. While researching in-home euthanasia options, I found Dr. Olsen. At first, I couldn't even bring myself to make the call, so my mom reached out to her for me. When Dr. Olsen contacted me, she immediately put me at ease. She responded quickly to all of my questions and concerns, and since I had never gone through this process before, her kindness and guidance meant everything. As the day approached, my anxiety and grief grew, but from the moment Dr. Olsen arrived, her calming presence helped all of us. I cannot emphasize enough the gift she has for bringing comfort during such a heartbreaking time. She patiently explained every step of the process, making sure we understood what to expect while allowing us to focus on being present with Cy. She was gentle, compassionate, and incredibly loving with him. She spent time petting him, talking softly to him, and treating him with the dignity and respect he deserved. She seemed to instinctively know when we needed guidance and when we needed private moments alone with him. Never once did she make us feel judged for our decision or question our timing. In fact, she reassured us that she could see how sick Cy truly was and that we were making the most loving choice for him. Afterward, Dr. Olsen carefully carried Cy away and handled everything with such grace and professionalism. She also assisted us with the aftercare process, including cremation services, and took the time to explain the different options available for honoring and memorializing him. Having someone guide us through those decisions during such an emotional time was an incredible comfort. One detail that especially touched me was her thoughtfulness regarding payment. She did not send the bill immediately after leaving but waited until later that evening, allowing us time to grieve without having to think about logistics. Then, when I received a heartfelt condolence card in the mail, I knew I had to write this review. As everyone here has shared, the decision to euthanize your dearly beloved animal is a very tough decision-- often one of the hardest decisions of one's life. Our beautiful beautiful sweet boy, who was diagnosed with a degenerative neurological disease at age 1--- started having seizures a little after he turned 7. Over the last 3 months, the seizures appeared, and along with it dementia and increased anxiety. The seizures became more and more frequent, until we so sadly knew this July would be his last month. :( I started researching in-home euthanasia vets in June, and found Dr. Amy. I am *SO* glad I had connected with her and had her number on hand, as last Thursday night my beautiful boy had multiple seizures, and was in terrible shape by the middle of the night. Dr. Amy came in the morning after responding to our middle of the night message, and was able to fit us in before her afternoon appointment. My husband and I were unwavering in that we did not want our boy euthanized at the vet, or worse in a room at an ER vet hospital--- his least favorite place on earth! Thank god Dr. Amy was able to come over, and help give him a death and a ceremony that was dignified and even beautiful. She was AMAZING in every way--- so kind and patient, clear in her explanations, honoring our privacy, and weaving in and out of the process with total grace. She is sincere, warm, and and respectful, and an excellent doctor. I can't imagine having done this without Dr. Amy. She was also extra helpful in discussing in detail how to pre-sedate him, as he can be aggressive to strangers. It has taken me a while to be in an emotional place to write this review. I'm sure I'll cry somewhere in the middle of it, but here it goes... We received the news that my beloved Rascal was in stage four kidney failure. Three days before Christmas. We called around and Amy was available to help us through the process. I dreaded every minute leading up to letting my boy go. Amy came to our house and loved on him while she told us what the process was. She told us that we could take as much time as we needed. She was gentle, loving, and patient. Once the procedure was completed, Dr Amy made a paw print for us to keep. She put my boy into a beautiful basket and covered him in a blanket. She let me take him to the car and allowed me to take my time when saying goodbye. The process was in no way easy, but it was peaceful and cathartic.
