I had my daughter go to this location on yesterday 8/3/26, big mistake. First let me begin she offered to go to the main location on Houston but I said no since she was already in that downtown Brooklyn area, boy did I make a mistake. We purchased 2 pastrami on rye with mustard. The only thing that was decent was the rye bread and grain brown mustard. The pastrami was over cooked and dry, which was probably due to it being over cooked. The pastrami didn't even have any taste. It's shameful that a great restaurant like Katz has such a poorly executed brand at the other location in Brooklyn. I wished we had went to Juniors whose pastrami is much better for a BK location. The owners should really take a look at this location considering it's their brand that's at stake. I will not go back but will go to the Manhattan location from now on. I gave 2 stars for the amount of pastrami which was a decent amount. Oh and a side note my daughter went in the evening and she stated that the staff appeared anxious to leave so maybe that was what was leftover from the day. First off, the food: I got a regular sandwich with turkey and it left me extremely full and pleased. The amount of turkey on the sandwich was insane. The service was fast for how crowded it was. The atmosphere was cozy and with all the other sandwich stores nearby is this a great recommendation. It's in the heart off Brooklyn and friendly waiters. The knish wasn't anything to write home about -- it was pretty dry and rubbery, disappointing considering we began to eat as soon as we received our food. Imagine my this can't be true excitement, when I learned there was a Katz within walking distance of my hotel! Each year I visit NYC, Katz is a must have. I launched the Yelp app to see how far I was from the deli, and a Taste of Katz's populated first. I thought, they can't be the same! I called to verify and sure enough..same brand. Growing up in NYC, I have never been to @katzsdeli - like I never even wanted to either and even now, I can't say I want to but I would like to try it if I can. I always visit Katz's when I'm in NYC, but this was a quick trip and I was going to be nowhere near the deli, so I was so happy to find out they had this new outpost at the Dekalb Food Hall. The staff was very friendly and assured me it was the same as the original. I ordered the pastrami and was not disappointed. They still give you a taste test, like they do at the deli and it tasted the same. The food hall is very cool with lots of food options. Katz's is front and center so it makes it easy to find. Another Katz's located in Brooklyn's Dekalb Food Hall. There is a food stall serving very good pastrami and corn beef sandwiches. The lady took my order for a corn beef sandwich on rye with mustard. It's insanely expensive at over $28. They don't give you a taste like they do at the main Katz's. The piping hot sandwich is just as big as the main Katz's with just as much meat. The corn beef is tender and some parts melt in your mouth. There was plenty of flavor with the mustard cutting through that fatty meat. I've been to this location a few times and unfortunately I feel like it's a hit or miss. I ordered a sandwich and asked for a taste. The sample they gave me was fantastic. Ordered a sandwich and 1 pound of meat to go. Unfortunately, I felt like the meat was sliced too thick, and there was some hard fat and not trimmed properly. I believe it was the manager that made my sandwich, and the cut of meat was very thick with a solid line of uneditable fat down the center of the meat. I had to pull my sandwich apart and then reassemble the sandwich which shouldn't be the case when you're spending what you're spending on a sandwich. So if anyone was wondering, they don't participate in any discounts for Dekalb Market Hall. Honestly for $28 sandwich I was expecting to be disappointed but I ended up loving it! Anyone traveling from the west coast, no trip to NYC is complete without a pastrami sandwich from Katz. I typically go to the LES location but I was staying in Brooklyn I was able to explore their newest outpost. Spending $20-30 is typically a lot for a sandwich, but for Katz, it's always worth it to me. This time around I ordered a half sandwich with a side of mac salad. When I say a side, it was more like a small but giant tub of mac salad that's impossible to finish in one sitting. Don't be fooled by a half sandwich, with the amount of meat they put in it, it's bigger than most regular sized sandwiches. The pastrami itself was as good as I remember it, and it something that can't be replicated anywhere else. I'm not a fan of rye bread, so I opted for a hero roll and I added lettuce and tomatoes. The bread was forgettable. If it was toasted and loaded up with mayo I think I would've enjoyed it more. The meat is star of the show though, I could just eat that and be good. It also comes with some giant pickles to nosh on the side. This location is located in a food hall with plenty of indoor seating. This is a great spot if you are coming with friends and want to get a potluck of different foods and share with everyone. If you've never been to Katz, going to the original location is still a must see and do. It's one of the few 'tourist traps' that actually delivers on the delicious food. Going there is an experience, and I felt this location was Katz lite, which makes the name 'taste of Katz' a perfect and fitting name. Best part though, absolutely no line when I went.
