    Pastrami
    Raj R.

I had my daughter go to this location on yesterday 8/3/26, big mistake. First let me begin she offered to go to the main location on Houston but I said no since she was already in that downtown Brooklyn area, boy did I make a mistake. We purchased 2 pastrami on rye with mustard. The only thing that was decent was the rye bread and grain brown mustard. The pastrami was over cooked and dry, which was probably due to it being over cooked. The pastrami didn't even have any taste. It's shameful that a great restaurant like Katz has such a poorly executed brand at the other location in Brooklyn. I wished we had went to Juniors whose pastrami is much better for a BK location. The owners should really take a look at this location considering it's their brand that's at stake. I will not go back but will go to the Manhattan location from now on. I gave 2 stars for the amount of pastrami which was a decent amount. Oh and a side note my daughter went in the evening and she stated that the staff appeared anxious to leave so maybe that was what was leftover from the day. I don't know but they lost a customer at that location.

    No lines in Brooklyn!

My wife has a head cold and she went to work. I call her in the afternoon and ask how are you feeling? I'm ok she says, nose is a little stuffy. I said forget about dinner today, how about a pastrami sandwich from Katz? She perked up and screamed at work: yes, Yes, YES! I order sandwiches but I also want lunch. Now I'm at the Dekalb Market, I could get anything here for lunch. Instead I chose a Hot Dog with mustard and kraut along with a Dr Browns Black Cherry Soda. That hot dog was a New York Slice of heaven! If you moved away from New York and came back to visit, everyone always says Pizza & Bagels would be their first choice. That's a rookie move. The hot dog I had yesterday, the first bite had that incredible snap? That Hot Dog was perfection in my hand. If you're going to compare a water dog from a cart to a Katz Hot Dog, it's like comparing a Pinto to a Corvette (listen, I could of said Porsche but.. America!) Trust me, you want to try this hot dog

Sure if you want the full historic experience and wait an hour in line for the full manhattan vibe then this isn't the place. But if you're local in the area and want more of a food hall experience with a great sandwich then it's great. Not a touristy spot by any means so I would not recommend to replace the main Katz, serves a completely different purpose That being said the pastrami sandwich and matzo ball soup are top even though they are a bit pricey

If you want the real experience then I'd recommend going into the city. However, you can bypass any wait and go here. I got the 1/2 sandwich and matzo ball soup. There is a lot of meat and they even let you sample some. It's still pricey so it's a treat.

New to the pastrami game and figured I needed to try what was supposed to be the best of the best. It was good, but seemed a little drier than I'd like and the bread was not match for the sandwich. Pretty pricey. Glad I tried it but next time would probably try one of the many other places in the market.

I had to try the Brooklyn location and it didn't disappoint. The staff is really cool and friendly. First time trying a hero sandwich from a taste of Katz. I've had the pastrami on rye before from their main legendary location. The pastrami hero hits home and taste great. This hero sandwich will definitely fill you up..

For $30 a sandwich, this meal just doesn't feel worth it to me. I've lived in NYC my whole life and grew up on pastrami sandwiches & knishes from delis throughout. I've always heard the hype surrounding Katz, seen their monster sandwiches & heard about how great they are. Granted, I know I tried the food hall location - but from the other reviews this is an exact copy of what you would receive from the original storefront. The pastrami sandwich was good, the meat was tender and fatty, but it wasn't $30 good. I don't know what I was expecting really, but I kind of thought the sandwiches would be bigger & have more meat? The rye bread was also lacking, falling apart and crumbling the minute you pick up the sandwich. The knish wasn't anything to write home about -- it was pretty dry and rubbery, disappointing considering we began to eat as soon as we received our food. Would have expected these things if it was to go, so it makes me feel as if they just gave me the end of the evening scraps. I love pastrami, but for the price I definitely can find a more fulfilling meal elsewhere. The staff were extremely welcoming and kind though, making my experience here worthwhile!

Imagine my this can't be true excitement, when I learned there was a Katz within walking distance of my hotel! Each year I visit NYC, Katz is a must have. I launched the Yelp app to see how far I was from the deli, and a Taste of Katz's populated first. I thought, they can't be the same! I called to verify and sure enough..same brand. First dinner in Brooklyn, Katz for the win! I ordered my usual pastrami with fries, half sours and a black cherry soda. Listen, you've not had pastrami if you've never had it from Katz. Smooth, melts like butter and after 20 years of patronage, it still tastes the same. We visited twice since our hotel was in walking distance. Shout out to the staff: Thomas, Austin, Wilson, Lily and Chaneea for taking great care of us. Second visit we picked up lunch on the way to JFK. I asked for everything to be packed separately since we would be enjoying on the plane later, and the staff accommodated our request.

Growing up in NYC, I have never been to @katzsdeli - like I never even wanted to either and even now, I can't say I want to but I would like to try it if I can. I didn't know @dekalbmarkethallofficial had a Katz outpost, and since there was no line, it was our chance to try it. . But my jaw dropped when I saw the price tag, it was $28.95 for the whole sandwich. Ive heard the sandwiches were also massive.. . They gave us a free sample while waiting for our order and the pieces were fatty and also hot (not burning hot). It was very good... . When the sandwich finally arrived, I was a bit disappointed in the portion. It's big for one person but to share, I can't say it was a lot of meat. As you can see, it's not really 2 of the same half portions. . The sandwich was indeed really good. It really needs the mustard though. Without it, it wasn't as good IMO. It was tender, juicy, but not as fatty as I would have liked. The sample was different from the actual sandwich. Chun picked up the order while I was holding the table so I can't say it was the same cut. It comes with a whole pickle. It was hard to bite into, spears would have been better. . Oh, gotta get cherry cola, it's the only time I drink cherry cola.... . This is based on my experience at the dekalb location. I don't know how it compares to their OG location.

I always visit Katz's when I'm in NYC, but this was a quick trip and I was going to be nowhere near the deli, so I was so happy to find out they had this new outpost at the Dekalb Food Hall. The staff was very friendly and assured me it was the same as the original. I ordered the pastrami and was not disappointed. They still give you a taste test, like they do at the deli and it tasted the same. The food hall is very cool with lots of food options. Katz's is front and center so it makes it easy to find. It's well lit with seating right in front of the pop up. The only reason it's not a 5 star because it's not the original. :-)

    Brisket, fries and macaroni salad

It's a food court so it's a bit cramped, and the tables are small. The counter person wasn't very helpful. Even though the cuts were as thick as steaks, the brisket and pastrami were good. It's definitely not the same as eating at Katz in the city. If I could go back I would choose Junior's instead.

    Katz's Corned Beef Sandwich
    Angela L.

Another Katz's located in Brooklyn's Dekalb Food Hall. There is a food stall serving very good pastrami and corn beef sandwiches. The lady took my order for a corn beef sandwich on rye with mustard. It's insanely expensive at over $28. They don't give you a taste like they do at the main Katz's. The piping hot sandwich is just as big as the main Katz's with just as much meat. The corn beef is tender and some parts melt in your mouth. There was plenty of flavor with the mustard cutting through that fatty meat. It comes with pickles and extra mustard and there's no good way of eating without making a mess. Luckily on a Tuesday, there were plenty of tables to sit at to enjoy the food.

Did a side by side of the Ruben here and at the OG place and they were basically the same. I think the hype of being at the other location adds to the flavor but honestly the hip vibe of the new age food hall gives me just as much energy. Sandwich was so good I couldn't put the first half down after bite one. Extra points for Dr. Browns root beer

We come to sit, talk, share stories, our personal experiences and of course sip a fabulous beverage. I'm seeing this more and more as I visit fabulous coffee places.. Konditori, Villager, Bakeri, Hidden Grounds, and now Velvette Brew. First, the space: light, airy and I can imagine with their big windows, a sun soaked place on a sunny day. There are plenty of seats: tables and high top tables. Their menu offers a bit of everything from soup, sandwiches, quiche and pastries. There is a nice option of beverages hot/cold. Today, was a bit damp so I ordered a hot chai with bite size checkerboard cookies to dip. The barista was very pleasant and I found a seat while waiting for my chai. I see a lot of patrons working in laptops, some meeting up to talk and sip and even the barista chatted with a local patron. Love it! My chai was piping hot and absolutely delicious. The chai was frothy, rich, the black tea leaves infused with cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, sweetener, and milk. I savored every sip and complimented the barista. It is always great to find a new coffee place. I expect to be a loyal local at Velvette Brew. They also host music events and have a collaboration with Cry Baby Ice Cream. It is located in the heart of Park Slope. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Velvette Brew 279 5th Avenue B63 to 3rd and 5th or R to Union Street, 10 minute walk.
