The packaging is beautiful, the food is delicious, but the price is a bit high and the portion is a little small.

Walked by and saw the poster of the rice rolls and was determined to get one. I ordered the teriyaki beef rice roll (fan tuan). The food was freshly made and service was quick. The rice roll was full of flavor and inside was teriyaki beef, sliced cucumbers, pork floss in a nice savory sauce all wrapped by purple rice. The rice roll is about 4-6 inch in length so the portion would seem small for the price. They offered a $5 upgrade for a onigiri combo with a iced black tea. I would go back to try their breakfast rice rolls that is available from 8am-12pm.

I originally went to get Taiwanese food right next door but for some reason the doors were locked. Saw this right next door and decided to give this spot a try. I must say the eel rice roll was pretty good. Not sure what was inside but the sauce was good, the flavoring was good but the problem was how easy it fell apart. It's like every bite I took, the whole thing was ready to fall right out. The pork chop roll for $9 was literally like 3 small pieces of meat in there. The corn and lettuce overpowered the pork chop which is not ideal. We weren't full off this, this is more like a snack. Or maybe I just eat a lot LOL Service was quick. Nobody else was there at the time we went on a weekday. Parking is available but shared w a lot of other food establishments so it can get pretty busy.

[Oct 3, 2025 5:45PM] Love the interior design! It's so cute and thoughtfully designed. Customized packaging deserve its honorable mention. Fitted well with the theme it's going for. We ordered 3 rice rolls, and all were made within 10-15 minutes. It was fresh and hot when I got it. Rice roll is about the 4-5 inch in length. Shorter than expected, but packed with flavors. One roll can easily fill you up.

8/31/2025 - This is the first store opened in the U.S. while the chain store has more than 1,000 stores in China and Taiwan. Ita specialty is fruit tea and rice roll. I ordered a Lemon Yashi Oolong that is very good, or fresh with just right sweetness, and you can see some fresh lemon pulp. The Mango coconut sago 芒果椰汁西米露 is also very good with fresh MANGO. I truly enjoyed both drink, especially Mango coconut sago. The Rice Roll is outstanding with fresh ingredients. A free WiFi is available in store as well as parking, but the weekend parking is challenging!

Fun, colorful packaging and presentation, a lowly 'fantuan' rice ball/onigiri in fancy clothes. It's all good until I tried to dig in (your experience may vary). My 'pork chop' rice ball fell apart as soon as it was cut open or bit into - very messy! I am sorry the form factor looks good but just doesn't work in practice. You will need a spoon and/or chopsticks. There's a lot of corn inside and not a lot of pork. The rice ball shell was very hard as to be inedible. I just ate a few bites and toss the rest of the $11 rice ball. SUGGESTION- for the price, make 2 small bite-size riceballs instead 1 giant one. My favorite Taiwanese rice ball is from J J Bakery in Temple City. Small, easy to eat, savory, packed with ingredients (chinese donut, pork sun, sausage, egg) and only $7.

The interior is super cute. Seems like a great place to go with friends. We used a kiosk to order, and our order was ready a few minutes later. At first, I thought they were a bit pricy, but these portions were actually quite big. I tried the black pepper chicken roll, and it tasted great!

First time trying a new restaurant ~ Ah Kung Rice Ball Avocado Caviar shrimp paste purple rice roll+ lemon yashi oolong tea I think it's good, there are many flavors I want to try,, today can only pick one flavor to try This lemon tea is my favorite flavor , I haven't had it for a long time, it's great Since the clerk asked me how it tasted, I just said the rice roll were not hot enough, the waiter immediately took the initiative to send me another flavor of rice roll to take away, I said no, but he insisted. Very nice. Well, tomorrow breakfast / lunch is down This restaurant has been open for almost a year, and I just discovered now that I will have the opportunity to try their breakfast limited next time

Came by for a to-go order because I always saw one of the owners of a hobby shop nearby constantly plugging this place in their insta stories, and this did not disappoint! I got the New Orlean Chicken rice roll with original salad sauce (pictured, already half eaten), and partner got their Avocado Chicken Fillet rice roll with original salad sauce as well. Just 1 roll for each of us was enough to fill us up for dinner. Will definitely come again to dine-in next time since the restaurant's decorations & vibes were so cute and nice!

Fairly new fantuan spot in San Gabriel. As someone who loves traditional fantuan, I was pretty skeptical about the idea of modifying a classic recipe, but to be honest they kinda nailed it. The base is just a little different, but still gets that same taste profile. It's usually made up of rice, cucumbers, pork floss, mushrooms, etc, and they build on it with your choice of meat/seafood. They kept that sweet, savory, umami flavor while adding some extra crunch in the texture. I've tried a few flavors so far, with Roasted Sausage and Teriyaki Beef being my favorites. I common complaint I'm seeing is that the portions are small which seems fair at first, but they ignore that they're pretty dense and heavy too which ends up evening out and filling me up regardless. I've also seen complaints about them falling apart when cut in half which is also true, but they're also not wrapped in plastic like a normal fantuan (which I appreciate since I hate microplastics). So just eat them whole and you'll be fine. The wait time is always short. No line (which is unfortunate) and my food usually ready in under five minutes. The interior is bright, spacious, and well designed. Only downside is parking in the plaza can be tough, but street parking is a good second option. Overall, great quick-stop choice, especially during the workday. I really hope people give this place a try especially fantuan fans. Can't wait to come back and try more flavors.

Check Fantuan for ordering it's much cheaper. This restaurant has seating for 28 people. The parking lot is small but manageable. While the rice rolls appear small, they are surprisingly filling. I tried the teriyaki and cheese flavors; two rolls cost $28, which feels a bit pricey for the portion size. Still, it's a fun experience to try. There is one restroom available inside. The staff provided free drinks for us to sample and speak both Chinese and English. For indoor orders, you can choose to order at the cashier or use the kiosk on the left. A 1:1 sample model of the rice roll is displayed at the cashier.

The food is amazing and the owner is very nice . I will be visiting again . Also the vibe inside was very nice and clean . Very fast service .

I wasn't expecting to purchase a Taiwanese rice roll for 15 dollars, but I'm very glad that I did. I was convinced by the nice cashier and the general atmosphere that this was a place worth trying out. My food came quickly, and I was surprised my how much I enjoyed eating it. I believe it's worth just as much as anything else you can find around its location. I certainly would recommend to anyone who hasn't tried a rice roll before to eat here.

Couldn't find the spot at first in the plaza but it is located near a McDonald's. Looked big from outside but was a decent size inside with a good amount of tables and seating space. Saw that the Beef Noodle Soup was good so I had to try it, the beef broth was delicious and I love bok choy so they had me at bok choy! Beef was nicely cooked too, I liked it! Dan Dan noodles were okay and it felt like it was spicy peanut butter but still good, just not my favorite. But the pork dumplings (xiao long bao) was YUMMY. It really hit the spot when we grabbed one each and the warmth and taste was delicious. Definitely my favorite! Pork and crab dumplings were good too! Grab a basket of the fried sesame scallion bread and get something saucy to dunk it in. Green Onion Sesame Pie: This prized basket of northern-style flatbread is probably what most people here are waiting for. The fried bread is cut into wedges with a crispy crackling exterior topped with fragrant sesame seeds. Inside, the bread layers are soft, pillowy, and bursting with green onions. Of course, it was the first thing that arrived, so we each voraciously ate a wedge on its own. Fish Filet with Bean Sauce: If you have enough self control, wait until they bring out the fish. The sauce is thick and savory. There's so much flavor from the minced garlic, fermented black beans, and scallions. The silky sauce seem to find a way into all the nooks and crannies of the stellar bread. Fried Red Yeast Pork Belly: The cooking technique of this dish is pretty cool. This is like a crispy char siu. The rich pork belly is marinated in red yeast rice wine for its aromatic flavor. It is coated in tapioca flour and then fried. The edges are crispy and kind of chewy while the meat is juicy and tender. Tofu Skin, Soy Beans, and Mustard Greens: The super thin tofu sheets and soy beans are a Shanghainese classic. They do share the lot with several other establishments. The lot doesn't really get busy, so you shouldn't have any problems with finding parking. I did notice that some spots are smaller than others. Food: I ordered a mild spicy popcorn chicken and minced bowl/ plate. The popcorn chicken was very flavorful, crunchy, tender, and juicy. Big portion for like $10. The Taiwanese seasoning mix brought me right back to the night markets to Taiwan. It's truly the 5 spice powder that hits the spot. The batter wasn't thick, so the chicken didn't taste very battery/ cakey. That's what I hate about some places that make popcorn chicken. It also wasn't too spicy for me. It was just right. I ordered the minced bowl, which is actually a plate. For like $12, it was actually pretty good and the portions was huge. The boiled / blanched cabbage and broccoli were soft, sweet, and tasty. I could taste the sesame oil on it. It wasn't salty. The sweet corn and diced juicy tomatoes combo was good too. The boiled tea egg was pretty delicious. You can actually taste the tea and soy sauce. The egg was nice and soft. And now, for the braised minced pork. The pork was very delicious and it just melted in my mouth. I love that there were some fatty pieces of pork too in the dish. It balanced out some of the pieces of pork, which had too much meat in it. Definitely a very savory and rich dish. Omg and the sauce from the braised minced pork drizzled over the rice was just so perfect! It made the rice extremely delectable. This is hands down one of my favorite Taiwanese dishes, and it was made perfectly. Staff: The staff here are very friendly, welcoming, and kind. They are closing this restaurant down in February 2026 due to rising rent and the landlord's unwillingness to upgrade the place. So sad. I'm seriously upset to see this place go. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is a $20 credit card minimum.

But I personally love this Railroad Pork chop because the spices are very flavorful. I haven't been here in a while and I just found out they only do take outs now! Which it's usually what I do, order take outs when I am in the area. I guess this is reduces their overhead costs! I just hope they will stay in Business! The pork chops had been consistently tasty and tender. The veggies and corn are good too! Wish they give more corn! The price are still reasonable given the good portion of food. Service is just phone orders and pick up now. Ambiance looks like when it was covid times. But it works as long as I get my favorite pork chop rice!
