A household staple FOREVERRRR! Century egg and pork congee plus shrimp leek rice noodles is our order every time and it has never once let us down. The breakfast combos are aggressively carb heavy and that is the whole point. Go early for the pineapple buns with butter or go home sad, those are your two options. Crispy noodles with seafood, crispy squid, veggies, whatever else we've pointed at on the menu, it all slaps. We have never had a bad order here and frankly I don't think it's possible. Consistent, never fails, always a good time. Some places just have you and this is one of them.

Came here the other day to try something new. We tried a clay pot, udon, bean sprouts, filet mignon, and tofu and seafood dish. All in all, the food was decent and came out pretty fast. Compared to Bay island, it is pricier. The dishes we got were a bit more expensive. The service was pretty decent and the food came out quickly. This is not on my list of places to come back anytime soon though.

My go-to Hong Kong breakfast spot closed down but I'm so glad to have discovered Tam's! I think I actually like it just as much if not more than my previous spot which I never thought I'd say. Their breakfast combo is an incredible deal with choice of congee, drink, and two sides for 12.99! I'm traditional and always get the pork and century egg congee, which was solid here. Their iced milk tea was also strong and sweet - just as it should be. I really like the two sides though, the shrimp rice roll is actually bouncier/chewier than the typical cherng fun and I really liked it more! And the pineapple bun with a thick square of butter inside was perfecttt and so indulgent. I don't know how anyone could eat this much food, I definitely had to bring home leftovers! Can't wait to come back again.

This is a solid HK cafe spot that is popular with locals. I can't believe I haven't been here earlier! (It's probably because they close at 9 PM, and I tend to crave canto food late at night.) The prices are pretty fair/average. I didn't see any lunch specials when I was here for lunch. The chang fun (rice noodle roll) was good. I got the shrimp + leek one, but I think beef might have been the better choice. The seafood congee was also really good with plenty of seafood. Servers spoke Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. I would come back to try the claypot dishes. Credit card/Apple Pay accepted Bathroom available Parking lot/Free parking Covered outdoor seating in the front

I came by Tam's Noodle House in San Gabriel for the classic Hong Kong-style breakfast. We ordered their congee, ham & egg, shrimp rice noodle roll, and the pineapple bun with butter, and everything was on point. The congee was flavorful, exactly how it should be. The ham & egg was done just right, giving that nostalgic HK café vibe. The dry shrimp rice noodle was silky soft with dry shrimp inside and paired perfectly with the soy sauce. And the pineapple bun with butter? Warm, fluffy, slightly crispy on top, with that thick slice of butter melting inside... so good. If you're looking for a solid spot for a casual, comforting meal, this place definitely delivers. Will be back for sure!

There aren't too many Chinese restaurants around this area that still has outdoor seating, so I'm glad Tam's still does. We brought our doggo along to breakfast and sat outside. Food is still delicious and they have pretty large portions. Staff members were attentive and friendly. - Century Egg and Pork Congee with Dark Soy Sauce Chow Mein and Steamed Rice Noodle with House Sauce as the sides (yummy and tons of food) - Sampan Seafood Congee with Dark Soy Sauce Chow Mein and HK Style Pineapple Bun as sides (also yummy) - Pickled Mustard and Shredded Pork Vermicelli with HK Style Pineapple Bun (yummy and flavorful) Overall, this place has yummy food and friendly staff. Best perk is that there's an option for outdoor seating (yay for doggo!). Credit cards are accepted.

Our Go-To Spot for Some Early (and Slightly Expensive) Breakfast Fun! This has definitely become our go-to spot when hubby and I are craving a simple but satisfying breakfast -- and since my family came to visit, I had to take advantage and bring them here at 8:30 AM on a Saturday. Parking is actually pretty convenient. There are a good amount of spots available up front, and if it gets busy, you can always park downstairs, so no major stress there. Now let's talk about the real reason we come -- their traditional dine-in breakfast special from 8 AM to 11 AM for $12.99, which is honestly a pretty great deal. You get to choose your own congee (basically rice porridge) and two sides from options like chow mein, rice noodles, or pineapple bun. It's simple comfort food, done right. Since my family was visiting, I went all in and ordered four different congee to share: * Dried Scallop Congee * Sliced Fish with Lettuce Congee * Watercress with Pork Spareribs Congee * Century Egg with Pork Congee Out of the four, my top two favorites were definitely: Watercress with Pork Spareribs -- flavorful, comforting, and just hits the spot Century Egg with Pork -- classic, rich, and very satisfying Next would be the Sliced Fish with Lettuce, which was still good, just a bit lighter in flavor. And last place for me was the Dried Scallop Congee, which honestly tasted pretty plain -- like it was missing that extra oomph. Overall though, the congee had a really nice texture and comforting flavor. If you like to level it up, adding chili oil gives it that extra kick -- and of course my husband went straight for the classic combo of vinegar and a little soy sauce. For sides, I really enjoyed the simplicity of the chow mein, and the flat rice noodles were also tasty -- one with house sauce and the other with dried shrimp. Nothing fancy, just solid comfort food. I also ordered an extra set of pineapple buns -- 2 for $4.99 -- and they were warm, soft, and definitely worth it. You can also add coffee, hot tea, or iced tea for just $1, which makes the whole meal feel like a great value. Most importantly, my parents really enjoyed it, and that's always a win. This spot continues to be one of my favorite places to come with hubby when we want something simple, comforting, and reliable without breaking the bank. Simple food, good portions, family-friendly vibes -- always a solid choice. Fast and friendly service as well. Happy eats!

Came here today for breakfast. I had six guests. Waited for a bit for a big table. Friendly staff and good Hong Kong style food, mostly specializing on Rice Porridge. A shared parking lot. Rating: 4 Stars

Four of us enjoy this meal quite a bit. The fried chicken wings were terrific and the udon noodles with beef were really good. The other dishes were all good. We drink iced milk, iced coffee, and lemon tea. Service was good.

Solid food for what it is. The wonton soup bowl was on the smaller side so not feeling the value for the price but the flavors and proteins hit the spot on a cold rainy day. The salted egg chicken wings have been on my must try for years now and finally got to try it and I really enjoyed the juicy chicken wing and subtle salted egg flavor. I would definitely recommend eating the bed of lettuce it comes with as it has so much flavor in it. I love their afternoon tea special as the meal includes a drink and we got their lemon tea which honestly tasted like Lipton tea steeped for a while, but hey it's included so not complaining. Service was good as there were two servers helping each other out and it wasn't busy when I went probably because of the rain. I must add there were a lot of to-go orders which is nice seeing a mom and pop shop getting good foot traffic. Has seating for at-least 20 people inside in various seating forms so come with a small group or come solo and give this place a try. I want to come back here to try their rice noodles and will leave that for a future review.

This is definitely a casual no frills spot to get something inexpensive to eat. The con? The Inside of the restaurant has a smell that's reminiscent of old newspaper? The smell is on the napkins too. They have a public restroom. There are interior and exterior seating options. I tried their steamed rice noodle roll, clay pot rice with chicken and dried mushroom and dried scallop and egg white fried rice. I recommend their rice noodle rolls. It's silky and the sweetened soy sauce is a nice touch. My 2nd favorite was the fried rice. It was seasoned well, fluffy and not too greasy. $16 and it's a huge serving and perfect for sharing. The clay pot rice was just ok to me. It's basically rice with sweetened soy sauce poured over. It did take a while for the food to come out, but they bring out everything at the same time. There is free parking at the plaza.

Grandma was craving beef chow fun and as I was searching for a spot, I found tame noodle house and completely forgot that I had bookmarked it. Parking: shared lot with cvs. I imagine it could get busy, the spots are compact and there's additional parking underground. There's a patio for outdoor seating but we opted to sit inside. There's employees were very attentive and prompt. Granted this establishment isn't huge but I didn't feel like I had to try extra hard to get someone's attention. The beef chow fun had a good "wok" fire taste (Idk how to translate this word from Cantonese to English haha) it basically mean that the heat on the wok they used was perfectly high! It was well seasoned and a good amount of meat. $15 I also ordered the crispy noodles with beef - this dish didn't have as much meat or veggies as I would've liked but holy cow the amount you get for $15 is crazy! The noodles were good and I've been having it for lunch haha. the hk coffee tea drink I got was ok, I've had better but it hit the spot still! I think my total came out to around ~$37? So not bad in this economy! Will be coming back to try their other dishes (:

Staying at the Sheraton in San Gabriel and after a few hours of shopping we thought we'd stop into Tam's for some soup, rice, and sweet & sour pork. Since it was a rainy day and we were feeling tired, we decided to take our order to go. No problem. We ordered, paid, and waiting about 15 minutes for our food. Everything we ordered was yummy. My sister enjoyed her won ton soup and appreciated that the broth was packaged separately from the other soup ingredients. The sweet and sour and the house fried rice were all so yummy. 4/5 stars because of the price. Thinking it could have been a little less expensive and also because they didn't have any plates or utensils for us. It ended up okay because we were able to get them at the hotel. We'd go back to Tam's again when in the area.

Hi Keane, Yes, if not a big pet. Sunny

Do they accept credit cards or cash only?

    Both

Is the beef curry good and what about salt pepper pork chop? Thanks

I ordered the beef curry and it was really dry/starchy. Not the typical gravy style one would be accustomed to. I don't think I'd order it again. Their beef chow fun was really good on a side note.

We ended up getting a set for $168 this time, which came with 6 dishes. It's also $35 per lb for lobster, and I asked for the smallest one. This is what I thought about the food we got. House Seafood Soup - Simple and clean soup. Good portion, and it was soothing to eat. Lots of squid. (4/5) Clams with Spicy Sauce - Large clams with tons of meat, and the sauce was fire. Always a good choice. (5/5) Crab with Salt & Pepper - Loved the seasoning, and the flavors were solid. (4.5/5) Thai Style Beef Stew - First time trying this, and it was good. A bit different, but the meat chunks were tasty and the overall flavors were good. (4/5) Sautéed Pea Sprouts - Nicely done vegetable dish. It's simple but refreshing with good flavors. (4/5) Fried Whole Fish - This dish was gone so fast because it was delicious. Nicely fried and not overly seasoned. (5/5) Signature Lobster - I feel like you have to get this here since it's their specialty. It's pricey, but in my opinion, it's the best and freshest lobster in town. Tons of green onions, seasoned well, fresh meat, and lots of lobster roe. (5/5) Service was good, and they didn't automatically add a mandatory tip for a large party. The total came out to around $364, which is pricey, but the food was phenomenal. It had a rich, smoky flavor and didn't rely on heavy seasoning or sauce to stand out. The lime wedges on the side were a surprisingly good addition and helped balance the richness of the meat. The Peking duck lived up to the hype. I liked that they use pancakes instead of the buns, and building each bite with hoisin, green onion, cucumber, duck meat, and crispy skin gave a great mix of textures and flavors. The other dishes were solid too. The pea sprouts were fresh and loaded with garlicky flavor without being overpowering. The shrimp fried rice was probably one of the best value dishes we ordered at around $13 -- lots of shrimp mixed throughout and a great filler for the table. The honey walnut shrimp was unique because it came with melon, which added a refreshing touch. The shrimp itself was super crispy and I appreciated that it wasn't drowning in sauce or overly sweet. The French style beef was another standout -- packed with fresh peppers and the meat was incredibly tender. Overall, you really can't go wrong ordering here. The pork elbow was delicious with a fun, tender texture. The fish maw soup was very good and comforting, though it could have used a little more seasoning. Other than that, it was delicious. The steamed sea bass with soy sauce was incredibly soft and fragrant--a definite must-order. The scallops with vermicelli noodles were another hit: fresh, clean flavors and perfectly cooked scallops. My only suggestion would be to cut the noodles, as they came in one big clump and were difficult to serve. We ordered the beef fried rice but were given lamb instead. It was a bit gamier than expected, but still tasty. The black fungus with tofu was also excellent--well seasoned and full of flavor. My family and I used to religiously eat lobster noodles whenever we made a trip down to SoCal. The pick of the bunch was 100% Newport Seafood- no negotiations, no contemplations. Unfortunately, the last handful of times have left me extremely disappointed and heavily annoyed. The cost and wait times do not reflect what is actually being provided and most of our food ends up being left behind because it simply isn't worth the calories. In all honestly, I've grown a phobia w/ that specific restaurant at this point because of the countless letdowns. My initial taste of Boston Lobster was about 3 years ago and I had the most enjoyable meal. Due to our LA trip coming to an end, my BD thought we should do it big with some lobster noodles- for good old time's sake. I absolutely refused to go anywhere unless we would be giving Boston Lobster a visit! Sure enough, they did not disappoint! Dinner for 3 adults and 1 toddler consisted of: *Boston House Special Lobster [no spice] + Garlic Noodles for an additional fee. Medium Size 5-6lbs minimally. *French Style Beef Cube *Sauteed Snow Pea Leaves We ate like mf'n KINGS!! Each and every dish was spectacular- even the greens! While we should have gone with the small sized lobster, I'm proud to say we went down with an honorable fight. Lmao!! The lobster was cooked to perfection- meat was sweet, succulent, and so darn tender. The garlic noodles soaked up all of the delicious lobster flavors and were not overcooked and mush. The bo luc lac was flavorful, juicy, and complimented the bed of lettuce, onions, & tomatoes so well. The snow pea leaves weren't tough and old- this truly was a simply yet magical dish. Service was on point and the staff continually came by to swap out our plates full of lobster shells. Above all, there was no wait with our initial arrival. Parking is easy given the fact that BL has a pretty big parking lot specifically for them. 5/5 stars!! We dropped over 3 bills here and it didn't even hurt. Lmao- this place is that damn good! Don't sleep on this joint, y'all. Boston Lobster is the real deal when it comes to authentic Chinese/Vietnamese cuisine. This spot should be so much more hyped than it actually is!
