This location refused to honor a coupon that I found on their website (see picture). When I arrived at the location and presented the coupon, the acting manager ("Tom" said he is the manager of the Dixon, CA location and he was filling in as the acting manager here because there currently is no manager at this location) refused to honor it. He stated that it was a marketing mistake that would be corrected within 4 hours. Well, how does that help me? I drove 25 minutes to this location because of this coupon but they simply say no. This is infuriating and unacceptable, not to mention simply bad customer service. Own up to the mistake (even if you weren't the specific person to have made it) and take care of the customer, right? I'd done business with Aamco in Concord for over 20 years and for the last 7 years herE in Fairfield. They had rebuilt the transmission on two of my work trucks and they did a good job. Just recently I took my personal car (2002 Escalade). Yes it's old but thing has been the best car I ever owned. Yes, I do regular maintenance on it and that's the reason this truck still runs strong. I took it in to the Fairfield shop because it need the transmission fluid and differential fluid changed. When the job was complete they told me that the truck had a small oil leak that was coming from the valve cover gaskets. $400 and change would be the cost for the repair. I agreed and they took care of it. When I picked up my truck, Tom the manager said it was all done the leak Waac minor and it was all ready to go with no leaks. This was December 20, 2019. Christmas was here so I just kept on with our holiday without paying the car no mind. It was after Christmas that I notIced since we had not use the car, the oil leak that was left on my garage floor. I took the truck back to have them install new rear shocks and they said they would look at the leak and see what the problem was after I showed them pictures. I received a call 3 hours later telling the truck is ready for pick up and that I when I get there Tom would explain to me the oil leak problem, I told them put Tom on the phone so we can discuss it now. In case it was something minor. Well Tom tells me the valve cover gaskets have no leak, the repair they did was done correctly and that new leak is coming from elsewhere, he could not tell me where but it's definitely not from the valve covers. My complain is that they are the ones who told me where the leak is from and they would fix the leak. The leak never got fixed and they would do nothing to take of the issue that they assessed. I took off the motor cover to see if any work had actually been done with those valve cover gaskets. Attached you will see the bolts that would need to be removed to pull off the valve cover gaskets have not even been touched. I touched around the cover gaskets and there is built up dirt with some old oil that is around the back side of the gasket and head. These guys are a joke and rip off artist. Do not bring your cars to this shop. Th hey will rip you off and the call you a liar when you have a complain about the service you received or in my cas the service that cost me $400 that never happened. Oh, I almost forgot. When I picked up my truck Tom was out of the shop so I asked the technician that was inside the office if he was the one who worked on my truck. He said yes, he said the shocks where bad and they for sure needed to be replace. Then I asked him about the oil leak. He looked at me with this blank stare, I said the oil leak from the gaskets you replaced and he said "I don't know what you're talking about" read more

Shortly after having the service done, I drove to CA... Upon reaching my destination in November 2019, the mileage was now 144230, the fully rebuilt 4L60E Trans went out. Upon trying to get some help with the issue, I was directed to the Fairfield, CA location to have them completely replace the Trans and Torque Converter. They did the job, I went to pick up the truck and drove it home. After a couple of weeks, I put the truck in storage as I would not need it. April 2019, I took the truck and had $4000.00 worth of additional work done to the truck. I drove the truck a total of 800 miles and the Check Engine Light goes on. Now, I have P1860, P1864 and P1886 which all have to do with the transmission. I called the Fairfield location and spoke to a guy that claimed to be the Manager, but he wasn't a tech and was unable to address the codes??? What kind of Auto shop allows a non-tech to manage their locations? Anyway. HE tells me that the warranty time frame is up regardless of the fact I have only driven the vehicle 800 miles... Now, I called Aamco Customer Service Line and left a message with all the details and supposedly will be contacted in the next 24 hours... Upon speaking to their rep, I will come back and either praise their company, or slam them. I really hope they do the right thing... I have spent thousands of dollars with their organization and so have a lot of my friends, associates and relatives. This place is weird. First visit, the guy didn't have the correct Car Scanner to find my check engine light code, and when he did he ran it on a Mazda (I own a Nissan). I got the code and googled it for my car and it was what I expected. He clears the code and says come back when it returns back on, and they will scan it again. Week later it comes back on and I return to talk to Chris, an older guy but looks like he's informative. He scans the car and says that Nissan doesn't work on his scanner, cause it's a new scanner. Said that it would most likely be a computer issue with the car. But I inform him to "maybe select the 'more' option on the scanner" so it will provide ya know....MORE car options?! Lmao and he found it, I got the same code as I suspected all along (also same code from the first guy, but it's now for a Nissan). Anyway, I would not recommend taking your car there unless you have a desperate need to get a code. 1 star for knowing how to use a scanner. 2 stars for getting me the code. read more

I had an issue on my Subaru CVT (continuously variable transmission). I got to this shop. They told me: "to start with and make an estimate, we need to drop transmission on the floor and then review it. That will cost you $700.00" I didn't like the idea and moved to non-AAMCO shop. In different shop, they told me that CVT doesn't have gears at all, but chain that continuously changes position when shifting. They showed me a youtube video that explains all, and they told me: "it must be dirty solenoids that is stalling chain shifts. They are driven by computer" Solenoids were easily accessible from beneath, so no need to drop transmission. This explanation was reasonable and I went with it! Solenoids price was about $800.00 + labor cost $1200.00. This fixed my Subaru transmission issue. So, why this shop asked to drop transmission on the floor, if they ever worked on Subaru CVT before ... read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE!! EVER!! Had concerns when I find last owner that helped on various issues with my 350z was not the owner and was fired for fraud claims saying he was, but when my is300 couldn't go above 10mph, I couldn't think of any other place to tow it. After a free look of the engine code, I was told it related to the catalytic converter. I wasn't aware that this isn't something they didn't do when the new manager Chris said it can get a further look into and fix the problem. After a day, was told it was the rear catalytic converter (my car has 2 front and 1 rear) and it was completely clogged up and that it would cost $650 for parts and labor to replace. Naively I didn't research, shop around cause they were a major repair chain and needed my car fixed. This was a big mistake!! It was fixed and picked up on a Friday, but that night the check engine light came on again. Closed weekends, had to wait till Monday to find out. Over the weekend I noticed the performance wasn't as it was originally, but maybe cause of the code. Monday the code was cleared, and I was told that it was cause it's a new part and probably just needed to adjust. Said ok and went on. Over the next couple of weeks, no code, but I noticed the amount of miles driven/gas fill up was declining. From 300 miles before low gas light on to 250/240 miles driven and then on. Code then came back on, brought back in and they cleared the code and said to bring back in inon couple of days to further look into it. I did, and one of the mechanics covering for the manager Chris told me he heard noise from the rear catalytic converter which turned out the place they sent it to did a bad job welding it and had to redo it! Frustrated I had no choice to use both days off without a car and hope this was the issue... it wasn't!! Continued to drive after weld was fixed, mileage/gas got worse! From 250 miles now to 200!! Paying for full tank but only getting 2/3 of it! Not only that, power declined, as it would take forever to pass a car or get to freeway speeds and trouble to get to 65mph if going up a hill or incline!! Code came back on again and with this issue only then did this AAMCO feel like getting the front catalytic converter checked. Was told that there was some breakdown in one of the front but couldn't be sure if it was the issue, that it would cost around $4000 to get it fixed, $2000 approximately for a aftermarket one!! Then the mechanic who found the air leak in the rear, Geraldo, said it could be a misfire of the spark plugs and when I told them that they put in the new Bosch ones approximately 30,000 miles earlier couldn't be bad, he told me that I shouldn't have used that brand, only NGK or Denso for Lexus! Told him no one said this when I brought them in to have them install them and just created more doubts in what to do!! (Especially since this is the issue for all the problems, details later!) Deciding on if to fix this problem, move onto a new car, after a couple of weeks of weighing the costs of a new car and this repair, as well as 2 different shops (1 being a dealership) confirming the front catalytic converter was the problem to be fixed, I decided it would be best to fix it. I find the same brand as the rear on Amazon.com cheaper than suggested retail and a shop, Don Wade Auto, whose labor rates were reasonable and put the net cost well below the $2000 suggested cost by AAMCO. I bring the part in when delivered, expected a couple hours of billed labor and was excited to hear I was charged only 1! Pay, drive back to work after he tells me it doesn't seem as responsive as it should but I figure I could unplug the battery and reset the ECU which fixed performance issues in the past. It didn't! After a couple of miles performance dropped big time on HWY 12. Trouble to do 45mph in a 50mph zone I exited and called the shop and told I was returning. It declined to a max 15mph, and when to the shop, steam exudes from the hood and temp was red line! Close to closing and well to the end of my lunch break, I had to wait another day to hopefully find an answer and correction to this issue. Got car back I was borrowing and went back to work. The next days I was off, and close to closing Don Wade finds the rear catalytic is now plugged up after only 3 months! I had Aamco Transmission , on Cave Creek road, Phoenix change my fluid and filter on my 2004 Silverado, on April 13th 2018 . It was a bad experience ,because the manager there tried to sell me services I didn't need. My neighbor noticed tranny fluid on my driveway. I took it to Aamco on State Street in Fairfield. I believe the managers name was Alex. He put a new gasket on my pan, and after hearing my story, did not charge me. Aamco is redeemed. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! ZERO STARS! This place has 2 Managers and 1 Service Advisor. When I first arrived the Service Advisor, Manager and I agreed on work to be done on my car. I had to Authorize $85.00. A week later another $420.00 in Diagnostic. 3 days more go by and the recommendation: A new Remanufactured Motor and PCM. Since the motor was coming out of the car I told the Service Advisor that I'm going to purchase Ca. Legal Headers to be installed and he verbally approved. We discussed the Motor Warranty being honored at any AAMCO across the United States. It was a 5 year / 500K mile warranty that covers 100% Labor and Parts. The estimated cost of Repairs which Included extra time for PCM Issues according to the first manager was $8,071.00 Required $4,000.00 Deposit to Order the new Motor. A few days later I brought in a Cashier's Check becoming more "Financially Committed" On this day I met another Manager Named Tom. As soon as he meets me he bad mouths' the type of car I have calling it and the series of cars from Chrysler similar to it all Junk and plagued with problems. There's much more I can elaborate about this guy but I will just say he's not the person I would expect to be in a management position that deals with customers. Just over a week later I came to inspect the work being done on my car. My Recently installed 4 month old New Leather Seats and Center Console had Mechanics Oil stains on them along with all the windows down collecting dust and whatever else migrated inside. The new motor was installed but the Headers were not. They attempted to install some Cheap Redesigned Aftermarket Intake Manifold on my car that appeared to be much smaller than the original stating that mine was cracked!? and no useable. (Weeks later brought my old intake home with the car and it does not appear to be cracked anywhere!) I had to argue with the Manager Tom to install a new O.E DODGE Intake which he finally agreed to. As for the Headers, we got into an argument where this Manager screams at me pointing his finger at me calling me a Liar and that I never had verbal authorization to have this shop install the Shorty Headers. Also, this manager Lied to me telling me that Headers Cause the Valve Seats to drop and damage the 5.7L HEMI Engine. I never heard this being the cause for HEMI Engines to fail so I asked him to produce the source of this information and he refused. I asked him to produce the Engine Warranty supplied by the Manufacturer of the motor and he refused calling it Proprietary Information. He said that He will write up the Warranty when he has the time. After a Month of my car being in this shop I am called to pick it up because they completed their work. The bill increased by $986.00 When I arrive to get my car the seats were never covered with protective plastic and there was more grease stains on my 4 month old new Leather seats! The Car remote control couldn't unlock the car nor would it start because the Battery had died. The Car needed to be Towed out after paying $9,057.00! Tom said that AAMCO Complete Car Care does not do Electrical or Computer Work I was required to sign a release in 3 places on the Invoice. 1. Orig Estimate 2. That I "Approve of the Increase in price. 3. That "I accept delivery of the vehicle and that services were to Customer's Satisfaction" I was Not Satisfied nor Approved of the Increased Price! If you don't sign these 3 places they will not release your car. If you leave your Car beyond 2 days in AAMCO's Possession after they notify you that the work is completed they will charge you $45.00 per day every day you leave your car at the shop! Next! The Manager Tom provides me his Typed Up Warranty that was a JOKE!!! The Warranty is only to be honored at the FAIRFIELD AAMCO TRANSMISSION Location!?!?!?! And he added conditions that make it easy for him to decide whether to Honor the warranty he wrote or not. They left a few loose wires too! Based on my Personal Experience as a Customer here.... I have never written a negative review, but if this helps even one person/family from taking their vehicle to AAMCO Fairfield, it will be worth it. I took my vehicle to get diagnosed for a possible transmission issue. The shop manager Wesley told me that I needed to have a complete rebuild. He charged me 6 thousand dollars to rebuild it and gave me a 2 week finish date. Once they had my car is when all my issues started. My car sat in the shop for 3 and a half months untouched. I went to shop everyday to check on it and the doors to the shop were always locked with no one inside DURING REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS! There is no contact number to talk to Wesley and the phone number given goes to an answering service where the operator can't provide any specific info on your vehicle. Throughout my 3 month ordeal Wesley contacted me twice, and both times were in the first month. How many people do you know that can go 3 1/2 months without their personal vehicle?? It's like Wesley didn't care. I thought maybe I would get some kind of a discount simply for the inconvenience that this whole ordeal caused me and my family. Nope. I was charged every last penny. I truly feel like I was scammed. After everything I endured I don't even believe that I actually needed a rebuilt transmission. Wesley and AAMCO showed absolutely zero transparency or integrity. At the very least as a client, I would've expected at least a weekly phone call with an update... Never happened. Please never take your vehicle up AAMCO Fairfield. It will be one of the most frustrating and worst mistakes you will ever make in life. They have really good customer service, especially if you're military. My transmission has been acting up lately with my check engine light going on and off, and I needed to know what the code readouts have been. The service was free. I was told that they could rebuild it, but they would have to order the parts from the dealership anyways, so they referred me to them. I find that it's always nice when people are upfront like that. read more

Brought my vehicle in last week for check engine light. I spoke with Chris the manager about the rough idle associated with the engine light. They spent over 6 hours troubleshooting the coils, injectors, spark plugs, etc and indicated the only other possibilities were the valves were probably sticking. He recommended I take it to the GM dealer since it only has 65K miles. It turns out after searching the NTSB complaint website that GM has had valve problems with this particular engine. Chris felt really bad they couldn't fix the problem and he waived the entire bill! That is true customer service which you don't find today. Thanks Chris! read more

My check engine light was on and I needed a smog check real soon. AAMCO was doing free check engine light checkups for a limited time . So, I took advantage of this service. Leonard Hall was the serviceman that helped me out. He hooked up his machine to my vehicle and presto, had a code for me. He looked it up in his book and it told of exactly what the prob was. He printed a computer graph of the engine and described exactly where my prob was. It saved a bunch of time and money knowing exactly what I needed for my vehicle. I got the part, installed it and today it passed smog. Thanks AAMCO and Leonard in Farfield. read more

So I needed someone to take a look at my AC last year in May 2012. Just had a baby and hot air was only coming out, needless to say I didn't want my baby to be in a car in summer with NO AC. So AAMCO fixes it almost $400.00 later. SO here we are in April of 2013 and AGAIN no cold air, take it in almost $300.00 later they supposedly charged the Freon and so forth. NOW 2 months later in June 2013 NO cold air, now today I am told another $600.00 later they can fix the leaks and so forth. HOW ABOUT THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF! DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!!! Well, let me say that knowledge is a powerful thing. Brought my wife's car in for what we thought was transmission problem...They claimed to be thorough in diagnosing the problem. Said it was the computer. We recently had the transmission serviced by the dealer...so having had bad service from them in the past, we thought we'd go outside the box to get help from a specialist. Cost us $1500.00 for a NEW computer part for a transmission. On a recent trip, I ran into a friend who is a certified dealership mechanic. Nothing was wrong with the computer or the transmission. The dealership mechanics didn't properly set the computer when they changed the fluids. So the computer was misreading the levels and causing the car to slip. All that was needed was to have them take the bottom pan off after draining the transmission. Then refilling the pan and placing it back with the bottom pan full of fluid to get the computer to register properly. Lesson learned...don't trust the local businesses to be honest. They were polite and made you feel like they were really trying to help you. And we didn't get the old computer part from them either. It was an expensive lesson for sure. read more

Rip off artists. Poor work ethic and no morals. Do not bring your vehicle here. I brought in my 7004r transmission out of my truck for a rebuild. After reinstalling my transmission the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts did not feel right. Brought it back and they replaced the 1-2 servo which should have been done with the rebuild. 2-3 shift still slipped. They told me it was ok. Barely 1 year and 5k mi later the transmission stops shifting from 2-3 gear. Took the truck to a shop with morals and they told me it needs a complete rebuild or a replacement. I was told whoever did the rebuild before didn't do a complete rebuild, just replaced enough parts to make it to the end of the 1 year warrenty. They took $2,000 from me for a rebuild they didn't actually do per the shop my truck is at now. read more

My boyfriend took his car to get a diagnostic test. They gave his car a tune up and said his car is fine. He just bought the car and needed to take it to pass smog so he brought it in to make sure everything was squared away to ensure a smooth sailing smog test. We took the car to get a smog test after we paid $300 to get a diagnostic test which required a tune up to hear "there is nothing wrong with the car." It failed smog! I post this review and recommendation for the current owner of Fairfield AMMCO. I am sure that all that read this post will agree with me. I went to AMMCO in Feb of 2017 for an analyses of the transmission on my 2002 Volvo S60. The result was the transmission was shot. The manager at the time (Chris) Offered a rebuilt one at $6000.00 compared to Volvo price of $10000.00. I took it. Well days after the xmission was received and installed I had to take it back because it was operating properly. Chris confirmed it was bad and ordered another one, a week later the 2nd replacement was received and installed. We noticed that the steering was bad (stiff). In October 2017 I took it back to AMMCO because the steering wasn't getting any better. They supposedly worked on it some more and suggested We drive the vehicle for a couple thousand miles to allow everything to work out. After no improvement I decided to take the S60 to Volvo Cars Walnut Creek ( 19 April 2018) to get the steering checked out. The result was that AMMCO had forced the xmission in place and as a result had caused major damage to the power steering column, rack, pump, and all components required to keep all in place. This was all verified by The AMMCO shop in Concord. Total cost for repair was $5621.58. After the repair (4 May 2018). I contacted the current owner of Fairfield AMMCO (Wesley) who informed that he was not responsible for damages HOWEVER he would try to help me out by contacting the previous owners Insurance company for resolution. Because of his help the insurance company contacted me and informed me that the check for full payment $5621.58 was on the way, The check was received within 5 days. We are extremely happy with the new owner (Wesley) and are confident that He and his crew take good care of their customers read more

So they do a quick inspection while also checking engine lights. When It comes to problems though they are not short to rip you off. For 1 missing shifter cable brushing to be fixed, they wanted to get the entire assembly at $250 ($150 item) and a 2 hour fix ($115) each hour. You can buy 4 bushings on ebay for no more then $20, and the fix is as simple as a handful of tools. read more

It's our first time going to a non-dealer shop. My car, a 2004 BMW 525i won't start Wednesday morning. Due to lack of experience with this type of problem, had to call our insurance for road assistance. They have provided us 4 places nearby. Without reading any reviews or feedback, we called AAMCO. Within 2 hours the car got towed to their shop. Alex called me Thursday to ask authorization to proceed with battery replacement, then Friday Wesley informed me that a starter needs replacement. He provided the cost and assured me that it will get the car fixed. Wesley promised to give me a call Saturday morning and he did. The shop is close on Saturdays but he accomodated us. He was there to explain and provide information as well as future tips in case the problem occurs again. Wesley seems honest, the invoice contained detail information of the charges including warranty. I will definitely go to them next time I get car issues. I'm just happy getting my car back and running good. read more

Horrible customer service. Took my car in for transmission problems. I had a coupon for $100 off service of a new transmission. I asked the lady behind the counter if I needed a new transmission, could use the coupon. She said yes, but we needed to wait and see if I needed a full transmission. It was discovered I needed a new transmission so I had them order one to install. They got the wrong transmission shipped to them. However they didn't call me to tell me. When I called to find out where my car was (as I was told it would be done 3 days earlier) they told me they ordered the wrong one and I would have to wait another week before they got the correct one. After a week and half I got my car back. When I went to pay for the car the guy behind the counter said I couldn't use the coupon because I did not present it at the time I dropped off the car. I pointed out I didn't know I needed a transmission at that time and that I asked the lady if I could use it IF I did need a new transmission. The guy said he would ask the owner who happened to be there. The owner would not honor the coupon saying it needed to be presented at the time the car was dropped off. I took my car in for a check engine light and of course the free diagnostic wasn't good enough,they said that I needed a more indepth one,which cost me $230.00.I ok'd the diagnostic and he told me one lie after another,my cars abs,traction and brake lights are on,which I was already aware of,I need to replace the module.He told me that those lights being on was causing the check engine light to be on,which I never believed,,then he said my car needed a tune up,then a gas cap.He was so focused on the brake,abs and traction light being on, which by the way cost over $1300.00 to fix which I decined,I got the tune up,and changed the gas cap,the check engine light was still on,the work was done by Norms High Tech Auto by the way,not Aamco, I don't believe that he performed a more indepth diagnostic,because if he did,he would have found the real problem,an intake valve leak which Norms High Tech Auto diagnosed immediately and correctly and fixed the problem.I truly believe that I paid Aamco for a diagnostic that I could have gotten for free at Jiffy,I will NEVER do business with Aamco again and I am telling all of my friends and family not to either.That so called free diagnostic that they advertise is a bunch of bull,It's a ploy just to get you in there,I think it is a shame that you can't trust them to be honest and tell you the truth,it's all about taking your money,well they will never get any more of mine and if you trust what I say they won't get yours either read more
