    Tindora fry (dondakaya fry)
    Radha P.

We ordered catered food from here for our daughter's birthday party for 30 guests and the food was phenomenal. We got mirchi bajji, gutti vankaya curry, Mango pappu, tindora fry, sambar, vegetable dum biryani, gulab jamun, double ka meetha and rotis. The gutti vankaya, tindora fry, sambar, biryani were so tasty, absolutely delicious. The mirchi bajji was spicy and accompanied with onions and lime juice! We felt the Mango dal was a little more oily than we would like, but tasty nonetheless. We ordered mild spice for everything as it was a kids birthday party and everything was mildly spicy and delicious. All the guests raved about the food and took leftovers home too. The food was freshly prepared and the quantity was generous too. We coordinated with Anitha garu for this order and she was so helpful in suggesting different items for the party and personally ensured that the food arrived on time! Overall, the taste, service and value for money were amazing! Highly recommend!

Outstanding. Undiscovered. Togo only. They pivoted from a dine in to completely togo business. Incredible. Have to go back and try the rest of the menu; consistent with other reviews. The authentic taste seems to be preserved without compromise for profit. Not aware of any restaurant which has this much pride in their food. Can see why there are so many accolades for the quality of their food in the other reviews. All about portion size and preserving authentic taste. Not optimized for profit. No mandatory 20% tip as a cashier hovers over you when paying like Starbucks. The dine in photos are obsolete. There is no dine in area now. Only togo. Other review comments on portion size and quality is better than any other South Indian restaurant seem accurate. Not a destination for Instagram diners. Female owned and not geared to generating returns for investors. Extension of home cooking. Vegetables fresh, high quality fresh coconut in chutneys Pre pandemic a 5 star dosa experience was a deep brown perfectly crispy shell with filling in the center. Mostly hollow and mostly shell. Post pandemic with increase in labor costs for sit down restaurants, the pivot to togo means the experience has to change. Can't have the 3ft mostly hollow cylindrical dosas stay crispy in a container. Nobody buys the hollow dosas in a togo container. The steam renders it soggy and there is little logic in paying 13$ for a soggy mess. Eat the dosa ASAP after ordering. I ate it in the car. The ToGo dosa changed to a cheese/potato masala/red onion/peas/carrot filling where very little of the dosa is an empty shell. Unlike the sit down experience most of the dosa is filled. Raises the cost. Very filling. No appetite for dinner. Other restaurants serve a soggy dosa but not here. This is the equivalent of many dosas in one because of the amount of inside stuffing. Can split between 2 people. Was full after eating 25%. Spring Dosa = Spicy Sauce, potato masala, red onions, cheese, cilarntro, peas, carrot, cabbage, podi. Melted Cheese kept the dosa hot. Ate in car. Best experienced fresh to capture the aroma and texture of hot melted cheese. Like a giant quesadilla for 12.50. They use hIgher quality cheese, not the standard salty low grade cheese pizza parlors use. Mind blowing experience with a dosa crust crispier than a grilled cheese sandwich, the different flavors and textures with the 3 different chutneys and melt in mouth cheese and potato mixture. LIke a cheese stuffed baked potato but 10x better. The red onions bring out the flavor of the masala. They could cost reduce with a cheaper yellow onion. This is closer to a shallot. The peas and carrots didn't have the overcooked frozen veg texture. Don't know how they did this. Bright green and crisp. Tasted like fresh peas. Coconut chutney: superior to madras cafe and ulavarcharu. Nut watered down. Thick. Tempered with small curry leaves, dal, mustard seeds. Can see the fresh small curry leaves. Not iold dried out leaves. Looks like fresh coconut in the chutney. Peanut Chutney: can see the tempered cut bright dried red chili peppers. Not old dark red ones. The flavor changed from a first bite cool sensation to a deepening peanut taste and slight spice you savor the bite. Tremendous. Definitely higher quality than the ulavarcharu peanut chutney. Spinach chutney: never seen this before. Delicious. Slightly spicy. Spring dosa must be 1k+ calories. 2 people meal. Overate but delicious. Reduced appetite for 2 days. Incredible binge experience. Equivalent to a super large quesadilla and more. Have to go back for the other items. Their idly might be better than idly express.

I stopped by Abhiruchi for a takeout Veg Thali (about $20), and it really hit the spot. The order was ready fast, and the food felt like something straight out of a home kitchen, light, flavorful, and not oily. The Thali had papad, roti, rice, rasam, sambar, palak dal, chana sabji, tindora sabji, and a tasty South Indian-style pulao. Tindora was top notch! Everything was fresh and comforting. Portion size was solid too. Definitely coming back!

5 stars for the portion size and value. Whenever I visit the South Bay Area lately S Indian food is my go to. As a vegetarian, it's tasty, spicy, and satisfying. Plus I think Indian food tastes better up in the Bay than LA (don't @ me lol). I'm glad I found Abhiruchi and ordered the thali. So much food for $14.99. It's a no frills take out spot, and I love that. I just want good, authentic food at a reasonable price which isn't easy to come by around these parts.

Whoa! So much rice to go.
    Natalie M.

Wow! I hadn't had thali in a while and whoa this place delivered. They gave such a variety of dishes with rice, roti and fried lentil. There was potato, lentils, vegetables like eggplant and a sweet dessert. Yogurt was provided too! Some stuff was spicy. Tbh I didn't know the name of the dishes I was eating but it was all so flavorful and delicious! Super generous. This was all for $14.99. I definitely want to try their other dishes. The spices and flavors are very good.

    So much food!

I was on the search for a vegetarian restaurant in the area and came across this one after reading…read morereviews that this was the best vegan restaurant in the Bay Area, and Merit did not disappoint. Green papaya salad: very refreshing! Loved all the different textures from the nuts and papaya and tofu. Jalapeño BBQ seitan: that first bite of the seitan may have been a little lifechanging. It tasted like beef tongue from both the flavor and texture and was deliciously smoky. Delicious!! House special rice clay pot: this had noodles on top and rice on the bottom. I LOVED the rice, almost ate the entire thing myself. The noodles had a good amount of ginger flavor, which is great if you like ginger but personally it's not my favorite. Very fragrant! Service was friendly and quick. The restaurant was clean and had some unique decor that I enjoyed reading (e.g. a sign that listed famous vegetarians in history). Would recommend this spot!

Merit's Vegan cuisine leans Vietnamese in terms of flavor profile and offerings but they do serve other Vegan asian dishes from other countries as well. There is plenty of parking, the space is huge and staff were all very helpful/welcoming. Its run by a whole bunch of Vietnamese uncles and they treat you like family. In terms of food, portion sizes and price, you get your bang for your buck. For five people our bill came down to $117 and we were stuffed. We all ordered individual plates and then some to share family style. Let me tell you this was too much food and we ended up taking some home. Definitely order per person as the dish sizes are generous. In terms of food I ordered the claypot and the lemongrass deluxe. The lemongrass was slightly salty but went perfectly with white rice. As for the claypot we totally could had split this between two people. The crispy burnt rice at the bottom went well with the glass vermicelli noodles on top. This was perfectly seasoned and I definitely would come back here just for this. Im looking to try the other vegan options with more greens in it and I look forward to catching you at Merit.

ARE WE IN SILICON VALLEY? 4.5…read more One might never know this restaurant exists, tucked away near a Google business park just off Highway 101. You could stumble upon it through Yelp (as we did), discover it while staying at the adjacent Treehouse Hotel, or simply hear about it through word of mouth. The parking situation is an interesting one. After turning into the driveway from Mathilda Avenue, you have two options: turn right for valet parking or left into the Google parking lot. There are plenty of spaces available, though parking there is technically at your own risk. The restaurant told us they had not heard of anyone being ticketed or towed. We first dined here shortly after it opened in 2025 and were immediately impressed by the beautiful grounds. The hotel's eco-conscious gift shop, housed in a glass greenhouse and featuring a colorful vintage VW Bug, is a charming touch. The short walk to the restaurant feels especially relaxing on a warm, sunny day. This has become one of our favorite places to bring friends or host girls' lunches. With three distinct seating options: the dining room, bar, and patio, there's an atmosphere to suit just about any occasion, whether you're dining as a couple or gathering with a larger group. I would recommend visiting during lunch or dinner service and skipping the in-between hours. During that time, only the bar area is open and the menu is more limited. To fully experience what Valley Goat has to offer, lunch or dinner is the way to go. Despite the name, the only goat dish on the menu at the time of this review is the Goat Empanadas. My friend was initially hesitant to order them, but David, our wonderful server, and I encouraged her to give them a try. She was glad she did. There was no gamey flavor whatsoever; the meat tasted more like beef, and the accompanying sauce was excellent. Over several visits, we've enjoyed everything we've ordered and are delighted to have a restaurant of this caliber in our Bay Area backyard. Chef and co-owner Stephanie Izard, winner of Season 4 of Top Chef and an Iron Chef title, owns a total of nine restaurants, primarily in the Chicago area, along with locations in Los Angeles and one at Orlando International Airport. Since we enjoy traveling for great food, we'll definitely be adding some of her other restaurants to our list.

We ordered a few items to share and each were spectacular. The shrimp salad in particular contained perfectly cooked shrimp (although there weren't many) tossed in the right amount of sauce. The grilled asparagus were delightfully sweet and smokey. The smoked salmon dip paired with pickles were just the right amount of savory, spicy, and sour. Ambience: very greenhouse vibes. The interior had many live walls (walls filled with viney plants), and ceiling decor of plants as well. Along the restaurant was a long line of monsteras, scattered with fiddle leaf plants throughout. Love how "fresh" it made the restaurant feel. Given their different menus I different times, would definitely try to come back and try their dinner menu. Price: food arrives in small plates (for sharing). A bit on the expensive side for the small plates. However, the taste of each dish is exceptional.

I got their ja jang mien, and I really liked it--especially the thick, chewy noodles! My coworker got General Tso's, and we also got some veggie dumplings to share. The dumplings were a bit on the bland side, but otherwise good. Service was relatively quick. The interior is clean and well kept (I guess more than you'd think looking at the little strip it is part of), and the wait staff are friendly. The parking lot for the strip mall this is in is on the small side, though, and may be tough to find parking during the lunch rush if you don't arrive early (and I would highly suggest carpooling). When I arrived, there were plenty of parking spots, and the restaurant was empty. The parking lot is a bit small, so I imagine it can be tricky to find a spot when it's busy. I can't say much about the ambiance or service because it was a quick in-and-out experience. When I got to my car, I immediately vented the General's Chicken container and left the plastic bag open because I wanted to make sure it was still crispy when I got home. Note to the restaurant: I really appreciate when restaurants cut holes in the corners of containers for crispy/fried foods to keep them from getting too soggy. Having some venting for the steam to escape really helps. General's Chicken was my go-to before I went vegan, so I was really excited to find a vegan version. When I ordered on DoorDash, the General's Chicken had three spice levels: Medium, Mild, and Spicy. I went with Spicy, but the sauce didn't taste spicy to me at all. It was also super gingery, which I'm not used to. The sauce wasn't bad, but it didn't remind me of the typical General Tso sauce I'm used to. That said, I did enjoy the crispy texture, broccoli, and bell peppers. I'd rate this a 3.5/5. Yelp AI mentioned that the Black Pepper Chicken was the highest-rated item, so I decided to try the Black Pepper Chicken Chow Mein. At first bite, I was unsure of it, but as I kept eating, I enjoyed it more and more. I love that they include so many veggies, it really adds to the dish. I would give this a 4/5. Overall, I thought the food was good. I can definitely see myself ordering other items from here next time I get a craving for Chinese takeout.
