Getting nails done at this salon was very stressful. The job was done poorly, my gel nails were getting smudged because the top coat was applied inadequately, nail length and shape was all over the place. Apart from fast and sloppy approach there is also poor lighting at this place and no one can see how bad is their polish application. I commented on this, and the person who did my manicure just left after she finished and did not come out, so I could not hand her a tip. I don't feel welcome in this place, I will not come back. And please do not go there and waste your time and money! read more

I went to this nail salon for the first time 3 days ago since it's nearby and has good reviews. Overall it was pretty good! The person working on my nails switched a few times as other clients came in, and I think there was some trouble removing my previous gel manicure I'd had on for 3+ weeks. Unfortunately one of the attendants started filing down my nails much rougher than the previous one (this could totally have been needed on certain nails however!) and I ended up with a small cut. One of my nails (which are generally pretty strong) felt a bit flimsy afterwards from the rough filing and broke this morning (I don't do anything that's rough on my hands). I think under different circumstances it wouldn't have been an issue, just a bit of a bummer since it was cute otherwise! read more

I have no idea why they over book themselves and rush the service. This is suppose to be a work of art which means needs enough time and patience. I was referred by a friend who lives right next door and this was my 2nd time. The 1st time my manicure stayed perfectly fine for at least 2 weeks without breaking or chipping. The 2nd time I was clearly rushed and next day my nails broke and I literally had just 1 or 2 nails that were fine and when I went back firstly we could not find the exact color and she insisted that I find the exact color and 3 of us started looking for the color and took forever and at that point I suggested that I was okay with a different color as I had lot of things to do. She started talking in Chinese and was very rude and unprofessional. She said probably I ended up punching my nails on the keyboard and other stuff and started blaming that I was responsible for ruining the nails and that I wasn't able to change the color and has to go through owner and owner isn't in and all the things she could come up with. I'm in sales and most of my work is done by my mouth as in talking to clients lol and bare minimum typing. I requested her that she simply take them off and I would quietly and happily walk out and I didn't even want refund or nothing. read more

Update: Was there Monday night and I'm so happy they've reopened! Service and staff were amazing, and staff was wearing mask and gloves, very COVID conscious will probably be back next week, love supporting our great local business I was here for the first time about 2 weeks ago. Walked in w/o an appointment maybe an hour before closing. The manager was so hospitable to moment we walked in, they were busy so she asked if we'd like to wait on the massage chairs until they were ready the wait was pretty quick and the service was superb all the way through. I got my first gel manicure (different from UV light one, used like a gel polish with powder) would recommend 100%. I never do gel bc I was worried about the UV but this other gel has last 2 weeks and still looks amazing! The pics I added are from today and you can see there is no chips, they've even saved me from breaking nails as I work a lot with my hand and do A LOT of house cleaning, still look great! If you're looking for a one time nail appointment, it's fine. If you're looking for a go-to spot in the UES to get your nails done regularly, find somewhere else. I've been coming to this nail salon at least once a month since November, and each time I tell myself I'm not coming back again because the owner is so rude to me. I'm loyal to this place only bc I like my nail tech (she's great and does a great job) but I literally can't deal with the lack of organization on the owners part. She overbooks appointments so then you're waiting literally an hour for your appointment to start. It's first important to note that each time I attend this salon, I call first to make an appointment. The last time I went, my appointment was for a gel pedi & refill gel mani for 5:30- they did not even speak with me until 6:30. I ended up being there until 9:00 because they also made me wait for my manicure after the pedi was was done. This happens every single time. There is no respect for peoples time, because she says they can fit you in at a certain time but they actually can't. I was willing to overlook the lack of punctuality because my nail tech did a good job on my nails. She's great. But again, it's the owner. Today one of my nails broke in the middle of nail bed, which was quite painful. So I made an appointment to get it fixed, and it was the owner that ended up fixing it. I told her she was hurting me bc she was being so rough, and she said "this is what I need to do and if you can't handle it then I can't help you" so I just put up with the pain. Then after she was done she said "does it still hurt?" And I responded no, because it was fixed. She said "see I told you, you don't know about nails that's why"... like what ??? I know about the feeling my body is experiencing?? And it hurts?? Then at the end of the appointment she told me that 5pm was a bad time and next time I should come get my nails fixed in the morning. But I actually called at 12pm to confirm that 5:00pm was ok, and she (yes it was her on the phone) said that was fine. So I'm not sure why she said it was fine that I come at 5, if she would have preferred the morning. Gaslighting me about the appointment scheduling was the last straw so I'm not coming back again read more

I can't prove it, but ever since I started frequenting this business, I got a fungal infection on the great toe. Echoing what the young lady said below, my toenail also split from the nail bed and one of the workers painted right over it. I had to to to a podiatrist and they said it was a fungal infection. Now I'm on antifungal medicine for the next year. Not only that, but every single worker who did my pedicure was very rough and would push back the cuticle in a forceful manner. Perhaps that's how the infection was introduced. Long story short, I will not be returning. read more

I usually do SNS here and have liked their work & cleanliness of the place, but recently switched to acrylic with gel paint as they tend to look more natural when they grow out. While visiting my family in FL for an extended period, I got them done for $45 (with nail tips) and then after, a fill for $35. I've lived here for 10+ years and know the price is higher due to rent, cost of living etc., but I don't feel the pricing at Able salon is consistent or transparent across the board. I waited 15 minutes or so to be seen, and finally while I was already in the process of my gel removal, she told a woman waiting who asked that the cost for fill and gel would be $55 (she ended up leaving upon hearing the price). The manicure was rushed, but it was the end of the day so I understood, but she definitely took shortcuts in the techniques (was more similar to a dip mani except not as many coats). She didn't do my cuticles until AFTER painting my nails so I already have a noticeable gap although it's only been 1.5 days, and then I had to file some extra material that had dried under my nail sticking to my skin uncomfortably. She gave a good back massage in between while waiting for the gel to dry (not asked for but a nice perk). Upon finishing she ended up charging me $69 (before tip) and said something about it costing extra for a gel polish that was a color instead of just clear (makes no sense because it's still the same amount of work). Considering everything was rushed and she didn't change my tips, the service did not come close to matching the price charged and literally double what I've been charged elsewhere. I should've asked up front as well so that was also my mistake, but I wasn't charged that much for SNS + nail tips at this salon before so it didn't cross my mind to ask for this price (acrylic is old and less time consuming than SNS). Their English isn't great and I'm not one to make a scene about price, so I tipped (a bit over 20% bc wasn't going to ask for change for extra $1) and left. They look okay for now and I like the color, but unfortunately I think next time I'll find another salon. There are a lot on the side streets of this neighborhood that could probably use the business a bit more and are hopefully more transparent about pricing. read more

I walk by it everyday to get to the train and today I decided to walk in. The space is great, very spacious and very clean! I had a gel pedicure and a regular manicure. The customer service was really great; I was offered tea, water and got small feet, shoulder and hand massage without aven asking. Also the chair massage during the pedicure was evenly. I've had some good experiences here initially - but the last several times, my gel manicure chipped/peeled within a week :( They also raised prices without acknowledging, which is not appreciated - as someone who went quite a bit I would think that is worth a heads up. DO NOT GO HERE FOR YOUR OWN SAKE AND SAFETY. My nail beds are red, stinging, and painful from their gel removal service (where they shave off with machine). Every time I would flinch or scream OWW in pain, the lady was mockingly laughing and say she will be more gentle which she wasn't. By the time they were about to apply gel color, I realized my nails got too thin and fragile so I showed it to the lady and the manager came up and kept touching and examining my nails. I asked for the nail hardening polish instead of gel color in fear of the further damage it could do. I tried to explain to the manager that the pain, red nails beds, and paper like thin nails are not normal. She and the rest of 6-8 coworkers came up to me all together and kept showing me their nail beds as they were laughing and speaking to each other in their language. They kept saying its normal and that its because Ive had the gel for too long, which I know from many years of previous experience it is not true. I tried to hold a conversation with the manager but was impossible with rest of the store workers talking to her each other in their language. To top all this, they still charged me for the gel removal service and an additional fee for the hardening top coat- when I didn't even get any color. I am not one to write reviews but this one I can not let go. They had no apology or conscience in them but instead found it as a reason to mock a customer. They knew how thick my nails looked before they did all the shaving off and how thin they had gotten as they were easily bending with each buffing. I'm so disappointed by a service at this place. Went there to do manicure and pedicure. The person who did my manicure cut into the skin while cutting my cuticles. I had to go to a dermatologist because the skin around my nails didn't look good and it was bleeding. I've never in my life had any problems with cuticles. Also the nail polish was applied so poorly, it started peeling after 3 days. My appointment was Sunday afternoon. It's Friday now and take a look at my nails in the attached pictures. I got the Buff Pedicure for $33 + tax + tip. They used sterile equipment, one time use disposables, and plastic for the water beds. And my technician wore a mask and gloves. The service lasted about 30mins and was nicely done. They also have massage chairs and free WiFi! There is also a frequent use card! The place was really clean, quiet, and relaxing. All the ladies were super nice. All the prices are honest and posted clearly everywhere. They take credit for services and tip in cash. Good professional service with experienced technicians. It's a little pricier than most but I thought it was well worth it and will be back! I was also able to walk in and get service on the spot. It was a holiday weekend so somewhat less busy but I was glad I did. Next time I will try the Mani+Pedi package with polish or a Spa Pedicure! Just what I was looking for! I went in for a mani/pedi. This was my second time going to this nail salon. There were no issues the first visit. This visit, the pedicure was ok until she almost clipped the skin under my pinky toe with the nail clipper. She got through it and the pedicure looks ok. Now, the manicure... I had a SNS dip manicure. While cleaning up my cuticles, she cut me. Ok, it happens. But, she left the blood on my nail, under the acrylic. I didn't catch it until the last round dips. She offered to replace the nail but I had to get to my next appointment AND I didn't want to soak off the acrylic with an open cut. Where it goes from bad to worse, when I asked for a discount (the nails should've been free), she scoffed. I've been getting my nails done for 20 years now and never in my life have I personally experienced a nail tech leaving blood in a nail nor have I seen it happen to anyone else. Also, she didn't throw away the contaminated color or the polish after seeing the blood on my nail and cuticle. Needless to say, they lost a customer. I'd rate them zero stars if I could. read more
