My close friend Teresa C and I were looking for a healthy bite after our Cardio Barre class and we were pleased to discover that Acai Republic was relatively close by and open late hours so we decided to check it out. Acai Republic is located in the same plaza as Cream Pan, right next to an MMA gym. When we came in they girls working were busy chit chatting with some guys who seemed like regulars who probably came from the MMA gym. That caused a slight wait that I found to be unnecessary... Teresa C. ordered a small Madly Mango acai bowl ($6.25) which has acai, mango, strawberry, peach, passion fruit and guarana blended and topped with granola, mango, pineapple and coconut. I ordered a small Tahiti acai bowl ($6.25) which has acai, blueberry, strawberry, raspberry and guarana blended and topped with granola, banana, strawberry and blueberries. Honey is optional and we both had ours with honey on top. WHAT A RIPE OFF!! These bowls are so small compared to Nektar or Barefoot Bowls AND they are more expensive. AND the blend itself was tasteless. Teresa and I tried each others' bowls and we thought it tastes the same. It was basically just bland acai flavors. And in regards to my toppings, the fruits are clearly not fresh/overripe. And not to mention... this place was slow as snails when we came in... so I don't see why the workers were so preoccupied they couldn't refill the napkin holders because it was empty. When ordering an acai bowl, you tell them the following: 1. Size (small, medium, or large) 2. Which acai bowl e.g. Tahiti, Brazilian 3. Substitutions (if necessary) 4. Toppings (want them all or just a select few) 5. Honey on top? Their acai bowls typically take about 10 minutes and if you're on a time crunch then I suggest you calling in the order. I always get the Tahiti. It's a blend of acai, blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, and guarana. The guarana contains caffeine so if that isn't your cup of tea, you can substitute it for apple juice or agave. They top it with granola, strawberry, blueberries, and more guarana. It's definitely a very fresh and healthy alternative to your typical lunch. I think they put crack in the honey because I cannot stop coming here. Yes, the bowls are pretty dang expensive. For a medium, it'll set you pack about $7. I'll probably go broke at the rate I'm going by coming here almost daily but you can't put a price on getting me to do the impossible. This place is really awesome. I always get the Hawaiian it is my absolute favorite. The fruit is always fresh and presentation is very well done. I work at a place I need to be constantly moving and my body starts craving fruits and veggies so I come here to get my fix. It is really close to work and home and I love that it is near my favorite karaoke place. So if you're a bit hungry too, you can have a snack. This location, being right next to a BJJ gym (I wonder if that had anything to do with it...) is great. Great place to come to after a workout and/or a hike. Definitely love the quality of the açaí bowls here because it's not like 50% granola like some other places I have tried. Delicious and good ratio levels of fruit to blended fruit to granola. You can ask for honey on top or on the side to drizzle or dip on your own. My only complaint would be that it was a bit hard to eat at first because the bowls seem to focus more on height than width (if that makes sense), which is fine, but my toppings get falling off haha! I also loved the Coxinha (Shredded chicken pastry). I got the one without cream cheese. Definitely worth trying! Kind of like Porto's potato ball or something, without the long line. Great service. Probably my go-to place for acai bowl. Writing this review as I wait for my bowl. I didn't know about acai bowls until my coworkers told me about this when I first started working. This cozy little store is located in El Camino Plaza, same Plaza as Snow Station, Cream Pan, Long Hai, Kitajima, and Encode Theatre. The store is Brazilian based, which is the root of all acai berries. They are super warm and friendly, sometimes they have an open mic session, which I honestly think is really cool. My favorite acai bowl from here is called the Tahiti bowl. Large is very big while small and medium are about the same. I'd suggest sharing a medium if you are here for a snack with a friend. Tarty flavor with fruits, granola and honey on top. Next time I'm going to get extra granola just because I love granola! Their açai is pretty firm and not runny/smoothie like at all. Not sure if that's how it's supposed to be because the only other açai bowls I've had were Jamba Juice's and Sambazon's. Hawaiian Bowl - very sweet compared to the Tahiti! I've been coming to Acai republic for about 2 years now. I always order the Hawaii and I am always left pleased with my order. I would recommend adding peanut butter which is $1 (not a big deal) because it helps balance out the Acai,the fruits, and honey's sweat flavor. Only down side is that the wait times can be long. I ordered "The Hawaiian" in size small which was 6/7 dollars. About the same price in comparison to most other Acai places (I've tried way too many). I really like how they put granola at the bottom of the bowl (like Banzai Bowl!) since I often find myself running out of granola with bowls from other places, but not here! Tried this place twice. The first time, my medium açai bowl was basically filled with granola and barely any açai. That was a let down. Second time I ordered the same thing which was the medium sized Tahiti bowl but asked just for about a handful of granola only. So my experience the second time was better. For the price, I felt the açai portion was not enough since it was about 1/4 of the bowl whereas at other places it is AT LEAST half. If I come back, I will most likely upgrade to the large size. This is one of the go-to places for acai personally, but today was a big disappointment. I ordered the Hawaiian bowl with chia seeds and a little bit of peanut butter and honey. The female employee that took my order was just standing there waiting for me to say something else when I was in fact waiting for her to pinch in my order. When I said that was it, she went straight into kitchen and left me standing there. Then a male employee came to the counter and asked what I wanted to order. I said the same exact thing and told him that the female employee had already received my order but didn't charge me. He said sorry and charged me. All of that was fine. When I received my order, however, I was so confused because I didn't see any chia or peanut butter but could tell that this bowl was pretty much dipped in honey which I'd asked for a small portion of. I was too tired to ask any questions and didn't want to bother them anyways so decided to just take it home. Then at home, I realized that they got me a chia pudding not an acai bowl that I'd always been getting with the same request. Chia seeds were found below the fruits all bloated on top of acai blend, which I couldn't really tell if it was actually there or not because chia was just too dominant in this bowl. In fact, I could not taste much of acai at all. Seemed like they poured multiple cups of chia with little bit of acai blend then dipped the whole thing in honey and peanut butter. I called them to let them know that this was not right but what really annoyed me was their stupid phone making irritating beep/noise whenever I tried to talk to them. Something for the manager to fix. The male employee was nice enough to call me on a separate phone (due to their phone constantly disconnecting) to apologize for both the miscommunication on my order and the issues they were having with their phone. If anything to complain, I'd say it's the manager's misdemeanor to have scheduled the two new employees together. Both employees were nice but just confused as much as I was.
