Went for the first time as Acappella, my boyfriend and I had visited twice in the past under different names and clearly different owners. From first glance the restaurants curb appeal has definitely gotten a face lift, upon walking in we felt very comfortable and almost immediately knew we had made the right dinner decision. We started with the calamari which was perfectly seasoned and fried, the Caesar salad was perfection. great dressing, freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a fresh crunchy lettuce just made it. The pizza was divine! We were told 'the best pizza on pleasantville road'. Id say the best in the county, undeniably fresh ingredients used and couldn't have been any better. The wait staff was more than pleasant and accommodating, the bartender who seemingly was a manager or possibly even the owner was always checking in and thanking us repeatedly for our business. We will be happy to return again and next time with family and friends! read more

Went to dinner with my parents the other night there. The atmosphere is very nice- they really did a great job remodeling. The food was good, but a bit over priced for the portions. You can tell all dishes were homemade though, expect the rolls. I was hoping for fresh made bread, but instead got semi warm rolls that looked like what you get at the store. Service was great and both managers stopped by to check on us. Overall I would recommend this place, and will definitely be back. read more

This place is good was able to get a last table on a Saturday night! Wine list is diverse however my first glass of Chardonnay wasn't the best but the pink Grigio redeemed it all. Rating Italian restaurants is always difficult for me because: Do I rate them relative to all restaurants on only Italian restaurants? This rating is relative to other Italian restaurants. The building that Acappella ocupies began as a 7-11. In the decades since the 7-11 moved next door, numerous restaurants have had life in it, most of them Italian. The owners of Acappella must be as optimistic as all of the former restauranteurs. A lot of remodeling went into the building but this is a small restaurant - with a small parking lot, a drawback - and it is not clear how bothersome waitstaff traffic would be on a busy night. The night that my wife and I dined there, aisle traffic was not an issue. The bar is on one side of the building and is separated from the dining area by a half-wall so all of the activity in the bar, including what is on the two, super-sized TVs, is visible. If you are like me and would banish TVs when you are dining, you may have a difficult time finding a table at which the TVs do not intrude on at least some of those at your table. Bread and olive oil dip was served before the appetizers was ok. I began with a salad which cost about $8 and it was well prepared and huge!. It and another appetizer would have sufficed for dinner. My wife had salmon and I had Penne Bolognese, which I found to be rather "standard." Our waitress was upset by my description but, really, it was not exceptionally different from what you might find at Basta Pasta or Enotria, two other neighborhood, Italian restaurants mentioned by other reviewers. I have only one gripe but it is a big one: Our entrees arrived before I had finished my salad. In my book, this is a fatal mistake, one that was made by our waitress. An experienced waitress will know how long to wait after entering appetizers into the queue before entering the entrees. My penne was left cooling on the table next to ours until I finished my salad. Contrary to another review, wine is available by the glass and the wine list is limited. Whilst white wine by the bottle is reasonably priced, the cheapest of the six or so red wine bottles is $36 and the range is up to $96. I cannot fathom these prices in this neighborhood restaurant. We did not experience any of the horrors presented by other reviewers. It is as if they and we were in different restaurants. Give it a try! read more

Salad was like the mixed lettuce bag from shop rite with 3 halves Of cherry tomato thrown in. Raspberry vinegrette also tasted Like shop rite but he said they made it in house. Got appetizer Some zucchini and eggplant slices breaded and deep fried With cucumber dipping sauce, completely tasteless. Brought out some chunks of bread and olive oil. Meh. Wifey got lasagna which was 2 noodles thick. I got eggplant Parmesan Again, meh. Didn't even finish. No thanks, I won't need a box. The beer was room temperature at best. $5 for a Sam Adams.and that's a 12 oz. the specialty I think is brick oven pizza. I saw a lot of diss appointed faces When the 9", $15 pie was placed in front of them. For some reason, there was a small child behind the Bar. The staff was disinterested and unknowledgable. Who makes home made melt in your mouth pasta on a regular basis? Other than my Sicilian Grandmother I can't think of anyone else. This is our second visit and won't be our last. This place is incredible. Service, perfect. Try the home made Crab Ravioli you won't be sorry. Excellent food at a reasonable price you can't do better than that. We had made reservations for our party of seven before reading the previous reviews, but decided to give Acappella a try anyway. We were glad we did. Everyone at this family run restaurant did their best to accommodate our table and checked on us to ensure we were happy. The portions were generous and all the pasta dishes we ordered were tasty and fresh. We were even visited by Santa Claus much to the delight of our three year old. There IS a children's menu, and our server brought her entree of spaghetti and meatballs early so she did not have to wait while we ate our appetizers and salads. They also brought her a coloring book and crayons as well as a booster seat We also ordered a very nice bottle of Chianti that was reasonably priced. We were pleased with our service and the family hospitality we were shown. By the way, Alexis, the little 5 year old daughter was present, well mannered and charming. All in all, we had a pleasant experience here. Previous reviewers, they must have heard you. I'd give Acappella another try. read more

Chose this restaurant based on Easter specials posted on their Facebook page. Ordered the fried buffalo oyster appetizer. They were served quickly with a generous portion and were amazing! Had the almond crusted soft shell crabs served over homemade linguine with an Old Bay Bernese sauce. Again, a more than generous portion. By far one of the best meals I've had in a long time! We dined at the bar, and the bartender was the best! Highly recommend! read more

it's ok...the little girl was definitely still there running around...very difficult to read the menu with the lighting...yes, it was paper. probably should have stuck with more of a carry out like the old Cafe Italia...which i desperately miss. i will not frequent it regularly. tables were very small and difficult to maneuver just pizza and drinks! hopefully they change some things around and get a baby sitter! read more

Recent reviews have been less than favorable but this restaurant is getting better by the day! Finally an Italian restaurant in the area that is worth going back over and over. Homemade pasta and truly a family atmosphere. Only complaint is the table service but that seems to be improving. The only other Italian restaurant close by is Basta Pasta and I wouldn't go back there if they were giving the food away. read more

My wife and I were there approximately two weeks ago and were pleasantly surprised with this new restaurant. Found the staff were helpful and pleasant. Most of staff are family members in this Italian based cuisine restaurant. Food was very good with generous portions with good taste and quality. Will definitelywill return and have recommended it to my friends and family. FYI, they have No freezers so taste is even better. The only improvement for me would be a sweeter cannoli at least for me. read more

I came in with my family tonight and I love this place. We got salads to start off, I got the Acappella salad with salmon. Its the most unique salad I have ever had, but it tasted so fresh and the salmon was most likely the best salmon I've ever had. Others in my family got the Cesar and Apple salad and they were very pleased with everything. For our entrees, we got the crabmeat ravioli, mahi mahi, spaghetti and meatballs and linguini primavera. Everything was mouth watering. I highly recommend trying the homemade meatballs and spaghetti. Our waitress was very attentive and just awesome. She made sure to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We topped our night off with delicious homemade tiramisu, caramel cheesecake and creme brule. The place is so nice and its family owned and operated so they have all their girls working there, the door was held for us when we came in and when we left by a little girl named lexi, she was adorable!! Its such a nice environment and I'll be sure to recommend this place to everyone I know. This won't be our last visit to Acappella Restaurant! read more

This review is for carry-out: Ordered seafood ravioli and a margherita brick oven pizza. The crabmeat ravioli was fresh and delicious, the pasta was homemade. I thought the portion was small for the $15.95 price, especially since it did not include bread, salad, or a side (at least not as carry-out). The brick oven pizza was very good, actually the best pizza I've tasted in Fallston, but the size of one pizza would only feed 2-3 hungry people - and the pizza only comes in one size. Although I would love to frequent this restaurant for its fresh-tasting carry-out, the prices vs. the portions will limit my visits. read more

We read all the reviews before going, but thought we would still give the place a try. My Wife ordered the Linguine with seasonal vegetables. The only vegetables were a small amount of diced up squash and a few cherry tomatoes. The menu said you cold either have it with olive oil or cream sauce, our waitress did not even ask. I had spaghetti and meatballs for $14.95, the portion was small, but tasty. Neither meal CAME WITH A SALAD. Summary - way over priced for what you get. I have been to Accapellas several times and have found their food to be fresh, high quality and authentically italian. They make a very good marinara sauce, meatballs are also good and they make a variety of ravioli's that are excellent. I have had the brick oven pizza and the thin crust and blend of sauce and cheeses. I am fussy about italian restaurants and I have been happy about the addition of Accapellas to the neighborhood. I will agree with some of the detractors that the bread could be better. read more

I returned here for lunch with a friend. We both ordered a lovely turkey sandwich. I asked if the turkey was smoked and the waiter had no idea but said they sliced it fresh so he thought that meant it was not smoked. When it arrived, it was on a delicious crusty roll but the turkey was smoked. I removed the turkey ( as I can not eat it), nibbled on the roll and ate some fries. Went for the first time on a Saturday night. It was about 1/2 full. Now I'm mad at myself for not trying it before! My meal was a special called the pasta Ferrara. Excellent: Shrimp and Chorizo with a spicy sauce. All meals came our steaming hot, which was awesome. Good Caesar salad, bread. Service was great. As others have said, definitely a family run restaurant. Seemed like the entire family was working: Grandma in the Kitchen and the young granddaughter helping out as well. Very Nice. Our experience was a good one, both times we were there. We started off with Maryland crab soup and it wasn't a cup, it was a bowl! It was very delicious. Then my husband got the lasagne and it had plenty of meat in it, moreso than you receive at other restaurants. I got the crab ravioli which was very delicious and the pink sauce that was on it had crab meat in it as well! We enjoy the Italian bread dipped in an herbed olive oil. The homemade dessert we got was lemon cake and it was also very delicious. Everything is homemade there. We have been there twice so far and we will return. The restaurant is still feeling its way with daily food selections, so iniitally paper menus are given out, but they say that will change as they get more established. As long as the food is delicious, the paper menu wasn't as issue. read more

The appetizer's, entrees and desserts were wonderful! I recommend the Mozzarella Capresse, Potato Leek Soup and the tortellini. We received excellent service from the owner and food runners! I do agree with other reviewers that the bread was not stellar and we did have to wait for our order to be taken but the owner stepped in when he realized we had an extended wait. I have been to this restaurant twice, and have had very good experiences both times. The atmosphere is very cozy and the service and food was great. I'm at a loss why so many people have posted negative reviews. I find it odd that Yelp is not including the positive reviews in their rating of this restaurant; shouldn't the rating displayed be an average of all ratings posted? It seems only the more negative ratings are included? Harford Co is in desperate need of more of these types of restaurants and less chains - here's to hoping Acapella's stays around. read more

New year's eve dinner with my wife and our two sons. Arrived and promptly seated to a table without place settings (had to borrow the settings from the table next to ours in order to have napkins while enjoying the bread). We were originally handed the wrong menus by the hostess. (lack of attention to detail) You'd think she'd know which menus were going to be used that night. We never received water glasses however one of the busboys did ask us if we wanted our water topped off towards the end of the meal. The fact that there weren't any water glasses on the table should have been a tip-off. (another lack of attention to detail) After placing our drink order and spending a few minutes deciding on the pizzas we wanted, the waitress informed us that we had to order from a limited menu that night and exchanged the full blown regular menus with a much slimmed down and mostly pricey pasta selection menu. (no pizzas or salads, which my wife was really looking forward to and the sole reason we chose to go there) I think the hostess should have warned us when we arrived that they'd be serving from a limited menu since they're known for their brick oven pizza and is the reason many of their customers eat there. We should have walked at that point. We re-selected our main dishes and placed our orders. The soups (came with the entrees) were delivered timely and were good. The only appetizer we ordered was calamari which only takes about two minutes in a deep fryer to cook was delivered to our table after 30 minutes after we completed our soups, only after an inquiry with the waitress whether she forgot our order. The fact that we were sitting there with nothing to eat for 30 minutes should have be her first clue. (another lack of attention to detail) The main dishes were pretty good however the portions were on the small size for the price (they averaged $25 - $30). For the menu prices, I think that the wait staff would benefit from mid-level server training to ensure the food service is on par with the food prices. I was disappointed with the experience considering that it cost us $200 for the four of us. At that price, I would have expected service and quality more along the lines of the former Josef's next door. Probably won't be going back. read more

I had heard good things about this place, so my family and I were eager to try it. Well, we were very disappointed. The menu is rather limited. The prices are high for the entree's considering that you get nothing with them They do not even offer any small size dinner salad, just the large sizes, which are pricey. The bread was hard, bland and tasted store-bought. Our ice tea was warm (at least it was freshly brewed), but it did taste good. Our entrees were just ok. I had the special butternut squash ravioli and the sauce was way too thick and rich. Couldn't finish and didn't bother taking it home, which is unusual for me since I love Italian food. Good points: the wait staff was very attentive and friendly. The decor was fine and the place was clean. We will not be returning. In our opinion, Basta Pasta has much better food. Their prices are a little bit higher, but you get a large, fresh salad with your entree and we each usually get 2 meals out of one. read more
