I was warmly greeted by the owner as a walk-in and she was able to arrange to have me stop in the same day for a short hair cut which was much appreciated. I came in with unwashed hair tied in a ponytail after traverseing around Golden Gate Park and I felt yucky going into a nice salon, but after leaving I seriously felt so much better and looked a whole lot better with my new haircut! I showed a photo of the last time I had my haircut and she was able to get it just as I like just from the photo! I had kind care taken of my hair throughout. Price is very reasonable for the quality of the cut I received, compare to expensive salons where you are paying for all the unneccssary frills. Cash or Check accepted. Thank you Accent on Beauty! I got a french manicure here. It did not turn out good. The white lines were uneven by a lot and when she screwed up she didn't redo it! One of my fingers didn't even have a even layer of white paint. It was very noticeable. Oh I almost forgot, she didn't even clean off the paint off the skin of my fingers! And the paint didn't even last that long on the actual nail. Maybe a day and then it is piratically just chipping away! My friend went with me and she just went home and redid them herself. Basically gave money away for the labor. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE going to this place for my waxing appointments with Tracy but HATE having to deal with Paula giving me shit about how hairy I am. Well, isn't that good for you? More business for you? She always manages to slide in an unpleasant remark and I always regret going here. Even when I am getting an appointment on phone, she manages to pass a remark about how long it takes for me or something on those lines. I confronted her with this and she is not the kind of business owner who is good with taking feedback. She just yelled back at me and blamed me and Tracy for the confusion. I expected no more from Paula based on my past interactions with her. I once decided to give Paula a try with my haircut (on my birthday!) and she did a pretty horrific job! Colored my scalp along with coloring my hair and the hair cut was pretty bad too. I had to get it redone from a better place the very next day. I decided not to post a review about that incident because everyone has a bad day once in a while. So confused about going to this place! Love the service provided by Tracy but hate the experience of dealing with Paula. :( read more

I got my hair cut here 7 months ago and I'm still getting compliments on it. Ok, maybe it's due to the fact that I've finally learned how to use a blow dryer (finger comb hair, aim nozzle at hair). But the haircut is still cheap, $20 and the person's nice. I have to admit, I'm trying to figure out if they're really dead or really popular. The two times I've dropped in, there was only one person working there and she saw me right away. Everyone who came in after, she asked them to come back in 30 minutes etc. With a rare exception, everyone seems quite nonplussed by it and agreed. read more

Came here for a Brazilian wax/under arm wax. Paula was super nice and professional. The prices are really cheap. Cash only. My problem is she uses the same wax and tools for everything. i get my hair cut here about once a month, and i love this place. i can't speak to nails, highlights, dye jobs, perms, and whatever else people have done at salons, but these ladies do the best darn $13 men's hair cut in town. now, i'm balding and my hair is thin and worn with a simple part to the side, so i don't exactly represent the biggest challenge, but you'd be surprised how many places have completely butched my 'do. everyone at accent on beauty takes her time, carefully makes sure every hair is in place, and takes care that everything is symmetrical. i started patronizing this place because i used to live in the neighborhood and i was fed up with the shoddy work from supercuts. last year i moved to pac heights, and i still return to the inner sunset every time i'm feeling shaggy. read more

Yes, this is an inexpensive "hole in the wall" type of salon -- not the kind where glam people have 16 different tints in their hair. But the stylists are incredibly attentive to details. They actually study you hair (collicks, curls, waves, etc.) before cutting it, and they listen to your comments about what you'd like in a haircut. Paula, the owner, is a great stylist who could easily charge double or triple and still have my business! And the waxing is top notch. Half of me doesn't even want to post this because I fear people will flood the place -- but the other half of me wants to tell everyone about this hidden gem that is leagues beyond Supercuts or Great Clips. read more

i've been coming here since the late 90s, mainly for waxing and nails, but had a few cuts done too! don't expect a fancy schmancy salon though! i'm a minimalist so that's why paula and team suits me perfectly. simple mani/pedi for an affordable price. waxing is done with care, although i've graduated to threading, but once in a while when i can't wait for my threader, i still come back here. they don't do the "extra 10 min massage for $15 dolla?" sell here, and i love that! go in, tell them what i need, correct if i need to as we go along and be out faster than a speeding bullet. ok, maybe not that fast, but fast enough. simple cuts are good and cheap here, but if you're a woman looking for a complicated cut, this probably isn't the place. i let them layer my hair once a long time ago, came to the conclusion i rather have a white person do it. lol but other than that, they're friendly and they care about their customers and it's nothing fancy, just straight up and simple. "little charms" on the finger nails is ridiculous. oh and they will never ask you "kwik or gel?" here because they just don't have the fake nail stuff. HAHAHAHAHA, love anjelah johnson! it's cash/check only and yes they take walk ins but if they already have an appt then it might be a while cuz they seriously reserve that time slot for their customers, great for the customer with the appt, might suck for the walk ins, but they do the best they can. read more
