Of course he's trying to defend himself, but again the customer service clearly shows it's bad in his reply. But i still recommended you to at least two other people because you did great work. As far as my old truck not passing, it seems that another company, Michael & Company, was able to fix it just fine. And they're downright pleasant to deal with. When they couldn't do a more involved repair, they simply referred me to another shop rather than talk to me like they were bothered by my business. I'm reading the reviews complaining about the customer service, and it is clear to me that people haven't watched Seinfeld's "The Soup Nazi" episode. Like Yev Kasem (the Soup Nazi), the owner of Accurate Automotive Services has his way of carrying himself while doing great work. He was informative about how the brake & light inspection and certification work and also gave me a heads-up as to when the brakes might need a check-up. He said that the vehicle would be ready at 4:30 pm (and welcomed us as a walk-in) and when we arrived at that time, the truck was already outside and ready for pick-up. Honesty, good work that's equalled by the owner's integrity, and a quick turnaround: those are qualities you can expect to get at Accurate Automotive Services. read more

Back in 2023 I need to run smog check as part of the PNO status removal process. The first smog check failed because the car haven't been operated during the whole COVID time. The gray hair man gave me a printed instructions for how to fix it and pass the test (mostly just drive it around a bit). What annoyed me was he told me I should have let him know my car was in storage for a long time, then he would just gave me the instructions without charging me for a smog check that is almost guaranteed to fail. I mean, how would I know? Can't you tell when I said I am doing the smog check for PNO (planned nonoperation) status removal? That man gave me some kind of negative feeling for how he interacts with customers (including another customer showed up). He also blame me not giving him the key / not giving him the paperwork, while he ended up finding them on his desk. There are also some unfriendly signs around the office such as "you just can't fix stupid" which makes me feel like yeah how stupid I am ended up using this frustrating service. I posted this comment on Reliable Auto Repair next door by mistake and I feel sorry for them. I used Reliable Auto Repair a few times and they are great. read more

Johnny the owner is phenomenal! I was referred to him by my client as I had neglected my Chevy Tahoe LTZ for sometime. I brought it in and Johnny made all the necessary recommended fixes. He is solid, experienced, and does not overcharge but most importantly he communicates as goes through process to insure client understanding. I Highly recommend him. Oh and to his defense... not one bit of racism from him coming from a Latino. Common folks he is was born in Philly and the humor carries over. He does not appreciate questions from his customers and believes "I'm the smartest man in this room". When you walk in to his office there is paraphernalia indicating in such an artistic manner that his customers are truely idiots and that he is the benevolent one who shall fix all of their woes regarding their vehicles. This man actually believes that you are an idiot by virtue of bringing your vehicle to his garage... and then expects you to pay him for his service... because you are an idiot after all. Hence, I have come to understand that what John does not understand, is that we, his customers are there for his service, and require or at least expect some form of professionalism to which this man does not offer. Regardless of the alleged quality of this man's service, I do not find it advantageous for anyone to interact with John. Hence I conclude that he is not worth the dollars that he charges for his services. Naturally, there seems to be a handful of positive reviews that are presumably generated from like minded-close friends or family of this bigot. The reviews that I have seen regarding anything positive about this shop presumably come from people that know John on a personal basis and are likely not from his everyday customers. In short, this shop does not deserve your business and I strongly advise you take your business elsewhere. This shop is also not easily accessible and parking is horrible. In conclusion, I HIGHLY reccomend shops over on the EAST SIDE of San Jose where the mechanics are honest and personable humans as well as exceedingly capable in their trade. I've been taking my 13 year old sienna to Johnny for the past 5 years or so. Nothing serious ever comes up since I started taking my car to him. His attention to details makes me feel like he cares for my vehicle more than myself. He would always explain what needs to be done clearly and the options if there are any. Although he doesn't look or sound like it, I can say that he is honest and kind from my experience. I remember a time when my brother used my car, and his friend insisted that there was a problem with my car (when there was actually nothing wrong; still, I doubted myself since I knew very little about cars at the time) that I must fix. I took it to Johnny. He could have made up something, but he didn't and said there was no problem, and he was baffled that I would ever let someone else drive my car. Called asking about a Lamp Inspection and how much it was, the individual on the phone hastly corrected me, "Uh, you mean a brake and light inspection?? Yea 60 bucks each, oh and it's by appointment only". Not too unusual, most inspections are appointment only. But not even a second after he said it was appointment only and before I could even respond, he says "Call back when you know" and ended the call before I had the chance to say much at all. Instant poor impression, and proceeded to look elsewhere. Don't even want to imagine what the in person service is like... He spoke very condescending to me and I was blown away at how blatantly rude he was. I called the day before and ask if he could take care of everything at his shop. I have a broken lens on a taillight so I was aware that in order to pass the brake and light inspection I would need to replace it. When I got there, I was late but I called and told him I was having trouble finding the place so he knew. When I got there, he didn't greet me. He walked up to the car and started poking at body work issues. I asked questions about what he promised and why he can't just replace the housing unit and ignore the imperfections on the body work. I had just picked up my car from the transmission shop around the corner so I stopped in and asked about a smog check. Without looking at me he asks what kind of car & responds "$45". My local place charges $19.95, which I tell him, and he responds "really..." like I'm lying, and then "good luck with that." So, I'm at my local shop now waiting for my car to be done. We have been bringing our cars to Accurate Automotive for years now, and have reliably gotten fast, good, honest service. We moved away from this shop and still bring our cars here. We often get our cars back the next day and he always shows us the parts he replaced so that we know the work is done. This last time, however, we had an experience that made me realize I had to yelp. We dropped our car off over night and received a quote for a service over the phone and agreed to it, as well as a time that the car would be done. Not only was the car done early (We have never had the car go over the quoted time, in our experience), but when we got there, the cost was under the one he quoted us!! I have never heard of that before! That just comfirmed for us that this place is honest. I will continue to bring all of our cars here. read more

Broke down on the highway in my 2013 Chevy Equinox. Was able to tow to the shop and it was looked at and had fan belt replaced within hours. They also found oil had gotten everywhere and needed engine steam cleaned to find the leak. Unfortunately it's next to impossible to get that done in SJ so they weren't able to find the source of the leak. I was unwilling to put any more time or $ into the car, but service was excellent! The owner could have taken me to the cleaners since I know almost nothing about cars, but he was honest and fair. Prices weren't outrageous. Hopefully I won't see Johnny again for a long time since I've traded in for a new car, but if I need a good, honest mechanic, I know he's there! read more

I had another great experience with Johnny yesterday. I had a minor problem and stopped by to talk to him about it. He took the time right then to come out to the parking lot and fixed my problem within 5 minutes. There are not many places where you can get that kind of service. When I looked at the Yelp reviews for Accurate Automotive I noticed that the one I had posted about 18 months ago was not on his page any longer so I will post it again below. "I've been going to Accurate Automotive for many years. My car's new-car warranty had expired and I needed to have some work done. For cost reasons I didn't want to take it back to the dealer and I didn't have a mechanic I could trust. My neighbor suggested Johnny. He told me that Johnny was an honest guy and a good mechanic. He was right. I've been going there ever since. I have always been very pleased with the work that Johnny does and his price is very reasonable. Several times I have even stopped by with a minor problem and he has been able to fix it right there in the parking lot, without my having to leave my car. So, if you want to get your car's problems solved by someone you can trust to do a good job at a fair price then go see Johnny. I read a comment about how hard it was to find his shop. A small business owner doesn't need entitled customers. John has been working on our family's vehicles for 30+ years. I've referred dozens of friends in that time. John is honest. You will not spend an extra penny more than required to repair or service your vehicle. John is extremely competent. If it weren't for your tears, you would've seen his credentials which surpass the majority of other technicians displayed prominently. This is not my first review, and I'll let the readers know I've know Johnny for for around 40 years and he's done 85% of the work on our vehicles. My wife's car wouldn't start, we had it towed to Accurate. Got a call from Johnny that afternoon asking when I had the alternator replaced. I had no idea. He told me it was bad nut looked brand new. If he had replaced it he would warranty it and replace it free. Checked back with my wife, the shop her parents used had replaced it just last August. They're now going to be replacing it for free. Johnny has worked on my cars for about 15 years. He has the highest ranking a mechanic can get and if you take the time talking to him you will quickly learn he knows what he is talking about and wont BS you like so many other mechanics. If he is not sure about something he is truthful and will give you a fair diagnosis after an inspection. Johnny will not cut corners on the serious items on your car. Many times he has saved me lots of money on things where safety wasn't involved and gave me different options. He then found out I had the wrong catalytic On my car and ran my smog check anyways, only to tell me that since it was the wrong catalytic that It was an automatic fail. I address him as sir and politely ask him if he could help. He had never met me and treated me like an idiot and was not at all interested in gaining a new customer. I was also very happy about their pricing and the fact that they didn't hassle me about buying more services like other places do. I brought my car in for an oil change. Apparently, the person who worked on it last time messed up the drain plug. Johnny showed me the problem and preceded to try several methods to loosen the plug without damaging the pan. It finally worked after about half an hour. He then walked me through the rest of the inspection. read more
