ace banh mi {chino} let's just say the parking is questionable but the inside it's pretty nice. it's been hot these couple days so it was room temperature in the building. the menu has a lot to offer but i noticed they did not have anything with rice. we got a set of spring rolls and a vermicelli bowl and i would say it's about 75% lettuce and 25% everything else. it might be someone's else thing but it was definitely too much lettuce. with the spring rolls they had a baggy separated with carrots in it which i thought was strange. i did notice they left a lot of the mint stems in the spring roll as well. the sauces for both were pretty good just too much lettuce. i got the ube coffee and i was surprised that it was not too strong, a lot of Vietnamese coffee i get is always wayyyy to strong but this was just perfect, okay the other hand we also got the dreamy matcha and it didn't taste right, there was little to none sweetness to it and it was just okay. the color seemed off. customer service was great! they seem very nice and i understand they are still in the soft opening phase. the place was small but cute, the chairs were comfortable, just they had a better place for the utensils and napkin area. the prices were pretty good compared to other places charging an arm and leg for some drinks. was unable this time to get a banh mi but maybe next time read more

Nice and small food Togo restaurant ! I ordered a crispy pork belly sandwich. A spring rolls with peanut sauce, and a peach iced tea. They all delicious. The services were really fast and nice. They have the kiosk there for you to order and pay using cards. Very convenient way to do the business. The space is nice and enough for people who enjoyed eating at the store. This was my first time trying Ace & definitely not my last! I ordered the shredded chicken banh mi & cocoloco matcha & both items were so good! To start, the establishment was very clean & they have a kiosk to order from (I usually order at the register but I got a chemical peel and didnt want to scare him with my flaky face lol). The gentleman behind the counter was welcoming nonetheless. Lees is closer to me so I usually go there but their chicken tends to be on the dry side. I was scared the shredded chicken here would be the same but to my surprise it's juicy & flavorful. You get the herbaceous flavors and a hint of lemongrass. The bread is toasty yet soft and airy on the inside & the butter is soooo good! As for the Cocoloco matcha, I feel like you cant go wrong with coconut water & matcha foam. It is very refreshing & the matcha seems to be of good quality! I can't wait to come back & try other drinks on the menu. read more

Would give it a 3 but, I get it's a business and have to follow portion sizes and the way they're trained, and it's a soft opening so they're still learning anyways. Atmosphere was cool very neat layout do suggest adding another kiosk though. At the time I was there there wasn't anyone taking orders at the front. (approximately 2-3 people in line) As a suggestion i believe the meats / shrimp could have a bit more portion. As well as the sizes for cups on the teas could be a bit more oz's (bigger) On the kiosk perhaps adding a description on the food items what it contains / maybe even the portion sizes or the approximate weight of the item so consumers know what to expect when receiving the item. I was kinda bummed not really knowing what I was getting as a 1st timer. The pictures on the items looked good, which made me add an egg roll however i didn't receive sadly, we did order a lot around $65 (we wanted to try it out) and they seemed busy so I let it slide. Another Item we ordered was the shrimp roll was kinda bummed seeing the shrimp sliced instead of whole, as I said maybe adding a description saying contains pieces of sliced shrimp & etc. Ordered Thai Tea with Boba it's was pretty good was satisfied with it would order again just wish it was a tad bit more due to the price (in my opinion) coffee's were really good would come back for those It may just be me, however as a 1st time in this type trying vietnamese food, but I couldn't finish the shrimp roll something about it I just couldn't take more than 2 bites the sauce on the side was good though. Don't wanna be harsh since it could be my taste buds definitely recommend to try it out though if your a coffee / tea person or are a vietnamese foodie. The coffee and food are great, service is great and it's a comfy place. I really enjoy Vietnamese coffee but what I don't like about this type of coffee is the amount of ice they put in the cup. I think it took about 5 sips of this coffee and it's all gone. All that is left is a cup of ice filled to the top. When you ask for light ice they tell you that the coffee will be the same amount and it won't make a difference. I've had this experience in every Vietnamese coffee shops not just this one. This place was really good! Came out during their soft opening and it was pretty busy. They ran out of bread and we had to wait for more bread to be made, freshly made in house, but it was pretty worth the wait. They gave us free ice cream as an apology for the wait anyways. The fresh bread was warm and delicious, crunchy exterior but soft interior. The grilled pork was so good. After living in garden grove for a while, I'm pretty picky about my Vietnamese food, but this place hits all the marks. The Vietnamese coffee is also really good, strong but not overly bitter. Interior is very clean and cute and parking is very small and can be difficult to get in and out but I would definetly come back. read more

2 stars. let me start off by saying this... this is not to hurt the establishment at all, but to rather make it a wake up call to please fix the issues! ace banh mi is super close and convenient to our house. as much as i wanted to like it, it was definitely a fluke. we got 3 banh mis (2 specials and 1 crispy pork) at about 9 bucks each. pretty hefty price for what it actually is. the crispy pork came with VERY LITTLE crispy pork and needed a lot of help. the specials came with a decent amount of meat, but again needed a lot of help. both sandwiches could've used a lot more pate or vietnamese butter. the most disappointing mark was all of the bread. first bite of the sandwiches you could already tell these were stale and day old (maybe more) bread. not the crunchy, fluffy, light bread you are used to with SGV and OC banh mis. just plain old stale and no taste at all. the vietnamese coffee... or should i say smoothie. i already could tell it was going to be hella sweet from the tannish color. i drank it and could already tell, the ratios were way off. there was so much condensed milk (i'm assuming) in it, that not only was it super overly sweet, but the consistency of the vietnamese coffee was very thick and smoothie like. i am assuming that it's from all the condensed milk they put in it. i know i know... we could've bought a fourth banh mi to get another for free which would have lowered the price for each banh mi. but one, we couldnt have finished it so i am marking each banh mi at true value at 9 bucks. and two, i am glad we didn't waste our money getting the 4th or 5th banh mi. like i said, i really wanted this to work out. would i come back? maybe not for a while until they get their ducks all in a row. but when i come back and if it's the same deal, i'd 100% rather make the drive to corona to carrot and daikon instead... read more

I am so happy to get a GOOD banh mi place in the area. A cozy little place with a small nook for studying and a nice set of options on their menu - drinks, banh mi, spring rolls, vermicelli. I got their combo that comes with sandwich and a coffee. My 1st time going and tried their pork belly banh mi and Ace coffee. Truthfully, the amount of pork was on the minimal side but the taste was on point. Loved the bread. Had a crunch but also soft. Didn't chaffe the roof of my mouth like other rolls would do. The Ace coffee didn't have the strong flavor of other Viet coffees but def has the same kick. My heart was pounding the rest of the afternoon! Overall, would def go again. I really wanted to like this place since I was excited for a new banh mi restaurant opening up in our neighborhood. We ordered a couple of banh mi sandwiches and pork belly vermicelli bowls. We ordered it to go and I was disappointed that the pork belly was really cold, like they never reheated it or cooked it prior to ordering. I was wondering if this is how it's served??? I was even trying to hurry home so the food would still be warm but it was so cold! Also the skin on the pork belly was really hard. You can't even eat it. Also, the bread for the banh mi was stale. i haven't found a good banh mi place in the IE yet but this one is in chino and has become my favorite . i had a crispy pork bahn mi and it was really good. the cucumbers tasted fresh and crispy! cashier was very nice and when informing me that they were out of Boba, he gave me many more options if I wanted to exchange it luckily I don't like Boba so I only got the tea:-) read more

Visited on March 7th evening right before they are sold out of everything. Their chicken banh mi was really delicious and fresh. Their lychee tea is a must get! Was working out of a near by coffee shop and stopped into here for a quick lunch. Immediately I noticed how clean and bright the spot was!
