Came on a Sunday afternoon. We were the only customers. You order Chipotle or Cava style - pick your base, protein, sides and toppings. Had high hopes for this place, but everything we ordered tasted stale and extremely sour/acidic. And the meats were mushy. I don't know if we were served leftovers. Disappointing experience.

Hunger. Hunger led us in through Acetuna's doors. Our bellies were hungry for food but our minds were also hungry to satisfy our nostalgic memories of the original Acetuna located in Cambridge. As I stumbled in to the eatery, stroller at hand and husband and second child in tow, I was greeted by the grumpy cashier who seemed to be multitasking on her headset while staring me down. Could she hear the rumbles coming from my belly? "You have to order down there," she scolded. No, she definitely could not hear the rumbles, I thought. I quizzically looked at the man standing next to a chicken doner. "Chicken shawarma?", he asked. Yes, but with rice and a side of falafel, I replied. To my surprise he didn't shave the doner, but instead used his tongs to place dry pieces of pre shaved chicken doner on my rice pilaf. Toppings are an extra $0.50 the lady cashier growled at me as I eyed the picked radishes. I ordered the radishes anyway since hunger was my new purpose, and my little ones were on the brink of tantrums. The cost for my dish rang a whopping $19 after taxes, a price I would not have paid if my past hungry self could see future meals. The tale could go on but alas my cell phone battery is at its lowest point. A few questions I will never know the answer to: 1.) Why are customers served dry precut doner when the real thing is right there, exposed and waiting to be shaved and eaten? 2.) Why are the service workers so grumpy? 3.) Why are classic chicken shawarma toppings $0.50? Return to Acetuna, we shall not.

Today, my travels took me to Boston. I was out and about lookin for some wicked food, lol. I found Aceituna Grill. Upon entering, it resembles a Mediterranean Chipotle the way their set up is. I went with the lamb and beef shwarama wrap with fresh garlic, hummus, lettuce, onions, and pickles with tahini sauce. It was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender and the garlic made it pop! The size of the wrap was perfect too! Not to little and not overload. You can eat and feel satisfied buy not stuffed. If you are in this part of Bahston, drop in and check out Aceituna Grill!

If you are someone who grew up in the middle east and you want that authentic chicken shawarma sandwich that you grew up with, look no further! Aceituna has exactly what you are looking for, with that garlic sauce that everyone loves. they also have pickled turnips and just the right type of bread that I remember from my childhood. On the other hand, if you have no idea what I'm talking about and you want a great place for lunch, look no further! This is a great little Mediterranean spot with a lot of healthy options and fresh ingredients. The prices are very reasonable and the service is very quick. I will surely be making a stop the next time I am in Boston.

Beef & lamb shawarma, moussaka, and spicy potatoes

My partner and I got a pita roll-up w falafel and rice plate w beef & lamb shawarma, moussaka, and spicy potatoes - TASTE: 4/5 - both dishes were tastier than expected! My roll-up was well balanced w hummus, garlic sauce, onions, and pickled turnips. The beef & lamb in the rice plate was marinated nicely, and the spicy potatoes were great TEXTURE: 4/5 - the falafel added crisp bites to the soft pita roll-up, and we enjoyed the tender eggplant in the moussaka PRICE: 4/5 - our total came to $30 SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - we had a late lunch and knew we didn't want a super heavy dinner, so the portions here were just right SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 5:45pm on a Saturday and the space wasn't too busy. Ordered at the front, and waited 5min for my falafel ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - Aceituna Grill looks super dim from the outside, but the lighting inside is just fine lol and there are informative murals describing Mediterranean food. The space and seating are typical for the fast casual vibe PARKING: 4/5 - Seaport can be hit or miss for street parking. We got lucky w a metered street parking spot right in front on Boston Wharf Rd

Tabbouleh, beef and lamb shawarma, French fries, falafel, and garlic sauce
    Karla M.

Not amazing but I did like my food. I ordered the build your own plate with tabbouleh salad as the base, beef and lamb shawarma as my protein, and falafel and French fries as my sides with garlic sauce on the side. I think it would have been better if the meat was separated from the tabbouleh so it wouldn't get soggy. Also, maybe having the ability to pick half and half base would be good, as the tabbouleh is good but can get overpowering after a few bites. The meat was okay, I didn't taste much flavor to it though. I did get this delivered so unfortunately the fries were soggy by the time it came. The garlic sauce was more like mayonnaise and lacked the garlic taste, I was expecting a strong presence of garlic. The falafels were good but too much flavor in some of them, maybe a little too much salt but overall had a good color to them too.

Spicy chicken shawarma with the rice
    Nicki S.

Great flavor across the board on everything I had. Went at lunch with a group of friends, and shockingly got through the line pretty quickly. They're super efficient considering the crowd. You do essentially just go through the line, they cut the meet off the spinner, pick your sides and on your way you go. I tried the spicy chicken shawarma with the rice and 2 sides. SOOO freaking good. The chicken flavor, while not very spicy to be honest, was so good that I didn't really need any additional sauce. I did try the spicy sauce which was meh, but the tahini was really good added in tot he mix. Paired it with the hummus side and a greek salad. Definitely a new favorite in the area and look forward to trying to more items from here.

I really wanted this place to be very good cause I love Mediterranean food but it was just okay. First of all the order process was nerve wracking and intimating. There arent any label and you don't enough time to read the sign with the ordering process. Inside the restaurant was also really dark which made it hard to see anything. There are like 7 different sauces/ spreads and no way of knowing what they are. The staff wasn't interested in explaining since it's lunch rush. I thought the prices were good until I saw the portions and it made sense. I ordered a Shawarma Pita Roll with Beef/Lamb. I got hummus, onions, lettuce, tabbouleh and spicy sauce. The pita is thin so by the time I got back to office it was already soggy. The tabbouleh was sooo sour it made everything taste off. And the lamb/ beef was just really chewy sliced flank steak not even meat off the spit. I also wished they had feta cheese as a filling option. I would come back to try the chicken plate but there are so many other GOOD restaurants in the Seaport.

Spicy chicken plates with tabouli & potatoes
    Shrinal P.

Love this place for lunch! I always get the spicy chicken plate with either rice or tabouli. My favorite sides are the potatoes, tabouli, baba ganoush. Nothing is really spicy in my opinion but it's all good flavor. The spicy sauce is more garlicky then spicy but still so good. I love the garlic sauce on its own and tahini too, I usually ask for all 3 I like my food extra saucey, have brought a few friends here recently and they all loved it!

Nice staff and I liked the thin pita. I wish they hadn't predressed all the salads but good baba and moussaka (though it's not actually mousaka). Nice fresh chicken and love the pickled toppings.

Pricing error on menu - tzatziki sticker.
    James S.

Tasty, healthy meal but overpriced. Additionally, the menu has a price error on it that management refuses to fix or honor. Tzatziki sauce is listed as an 'add on' option for $0.50 in a sticker that overlaps both the rice and salad plate options (see photo) and a separate, identical sticker is also placed on the menu location for the pita roll-up option. However, when you ask to add tzatziki sauce, they will add it to your plate and charge you $2.00 if you do a salad or rice plate. I pointed the error out to cashier and shift manager, and they pretended not to see the sticker on the menu. Literally acted like it wasn't there. They clearly have no intention of removing the sticker. Edit: manager came out and explained this was a training issue and that the staff did not understand fully yet that there are 3 options: no tzatziki; a small add-on portion for $0.50; and a large scoop for $2.00 as a side. I was apparently not the first person to bring this up. Given this, I'm knocking this review up to three stars. However, I still overpayed for an option I didn't ask for (tzatziki as a side), and nothing was done to rectify that aside from providing an explanation that it is a training and newness issue.

My server had excellent recommendations and was super knowledgeable about the menu and the popularity of items. Food- we got 5 dinner items and 1 dessert item and that was enough for two. Zaatar Bread- our favorite item. Bread was thick but light. Buttery but not overpowering. And the dip! Wow was the dip so good. Whipped Feta- delicious but could've use 2 more chips as the dip to chip ratio was off. Sultans Delight- my wife's favorite dish. Super tender and extremely flavorful. Lamb Shwarma (special)- so good and I hope they add it to their menu going forward. Mussels- mixed. I enjoyed them but my wife did not like them as much. May have been textural for her, but I enjoyed it. Baked Alaska- a must. From the presentation to the flavors- amazing! Can't wait to come back, they earned their Michelin recognition for sure.

Oh, Oleana! Tucked…read moreaway in Cambridge, Oleana is a cozy Mediterranean restaurant serving small plates. My partner and I managed to snag a last-minute reservation on a Tuesday night, and even at 9 p.m. the restaurant was still lively. Between the beautiful decor and warm atmosphere, it made for a great date night spot, though it was admittedly a bit dim (apologies in advance for the photo quality!) Between the two of us, we ended up ordering quite a few dishes: Whipped Feta (4/5): This was good, though I was hoping for a stronger roasted pepper flavor. Nothing wrong with it, but it didn't quite stand out. Interestingly, we overheard the table next to us mention the same thing, so maybe this one's a bit hit or miss. Spinach Falafel (4/5): Another solid dish. It was bright, colorful, and fresh, though a little messy to eat. Our waiter rather bluntly told us to "just wrap it and bite," which caught us a little off guard, but it was good nonetheless. Fatteh (4.5/5): Our favorite appetizer of the night. The creamy roasted cauliflower paired so well with the crispy pita, and I especially loved the sweetness the onions brought to the dish. Sultan's Delight (5/5): As everyone else says, this is the one to order. The beef was incredibly tender and rich. In hindsight, I almost wish we'd had the potatoes from the Adana Kebab to eat alongside it because they would've been the perfect accompaniment. Vermont Quail Kebab (5/5): Tied with the Sultan's Delight as our favorite entrée. The quail was juicy, well-spiced, and surprisingly easy to eat. I'd absolutely order this again. Adana Kebab (4/5): By this point, I think we were simply getting full. The kebab itself was good, but not nearly as memorable as the other meat dishes. Ironically, the potatoes and peppers that came with it might have been my favorite part--they would've paired perfectly with the Sultan's Delight. Baked Alaska (4.5/5): Delicious. The toasted meringue paired wonderfully with the coconut ice cream, though we were a little mixed on the passionfruit caramel, which came across slightly burnt and more acidic than expected. After a while the meringue did become quite sweet, so we ended up pairing some with the Muhallebi. Dark Chocolate Muhallebi (3.5/5): Yes...we ordered two desserts. I was mostly drawn in by the kaymak ice cream, but the Muhallebi itself was almost completely unsweetened. I'm usually all for desserts that aren't overly sweet, but this one leaned more savory than I expected. We actually ended up adding some leftover meringue from the Baked Alaska to balance it out. Looking back, given both our appetites (and our wallets), I think we would've been perfectly happy just ordering the Baked Alaska. Overall, Oleana was a lovely spot for a date night. While it didn't quite live up to the lofty expectations I'd built up from all the praise, we still had a really enjoyable meal. Our main waiter was kind, and I appreciated that the dishes came out in rounds, giving us plenty of time to eat and chat. The meat dishes were definitely the highlights for us, but overall there's a lot to like here.

It was hot as hell- but we picked a table outside anyway. The service is exactly how I like it. Warm, friendly and attentive without someone checking on you every 10 seconds. Everyone was just full of smiles and it made our dinner that much special. Instead of going for big main plates, my daughter and I went for starters. The fried calamari is a must and tasty. We arrived a little early and were escorted to a cozy lounge before being guided to our table, a corner spot right under the restaurant's big windows. From the moment you walk in, you can see how elegant it is, and yet it's not pretentious at all. I spotted people in sneakers and Birkenstocks alongside others who were dressed up which worked out since we'd spent the day sightseeing and were dressed a bit more casual. We started with the escargot, which was delicious, served out of the shell with toasted sourdough. The complimentary bread was also some of the best I've had and I'm not just saying that because it was free. The wine list was extensive but had something for every price range. We picked a delicious Bordeaux for just $80, which was less than I expected to pay at a restaurant of this caliber. My husband ordered the Cornish hen and I had the duck on a bed of risotto. Both were amazing, and the portions were huge. I ended up taking half my duck home which I really wasn't expecting. The duck was delicious but my husband's hen might have been just a bit better; it was so juicy. We also got a side of the horseradish mashed potatoes; divine. I went in expecting small plates and precious portions like most elevated French spots so this was a welcome surprise. We ended with the crème brûlée, it had the most perfect "glassy" top; might be the best I've had. The service was next level throughout. I am disappointed, from the very start to the end my experience was quite bad. The kitchen did not allow a bread substitution for the sandwich we ordered, they did not do waffles at this location either, and when we got our food the portion sizes were very small. The salmon was very overpriced for how much they offered; $27 for a piece of salmon only a few inches across was insulting, but apparently that is just how it is served there (picture below, you can see the pieces of broccoli are almost as big as the fish!) The other dish we got was the chicken sandwich, which is cut into two halves. The first half was normal but there was basically no chicken on the second half of the sandwich, it was essentially all bread. We brought it up to a manager and they got us a new piece of chicken, which fit entirely alongside the old piece of chicken on the bun because it was so small. On top of that we had to wait around nearly half an hour after finishing and had to flag down a waiter to get our check and go. The service overall was very slow.
