Tonight I had a little issue with checking out as well as I wasn't sure if I was going to get the discount using the app the wonderful customer service agent, Farhart, went above and beyond helping me, going as far as even entering her own number. There was an issue with the machines where cards weren't working so she took the time to help me over at customer service where she manually entered the numbers. I know it sounds like nothing, but it helped a lot. She was courteous, helpful and I really hope Acme recognizes her because I'll be honest. Acme produce continues to disappoint. Who is the buyer of the produce department? That person needs to be replaced. Worse produce than Misfits or Imperfect but at least they tell you they are imperfect. Take a look at the "large" mangoes that they advertise to be "large". About a month ago, I experienced a clear incident of racial discrimination at the Fort Lee ACME store. I was at the customer service desk to purchase a New Jersey Lottery ticket. Despite being a senior citizen with a full head of white hair, a young female employee aggressively shouted at me, claiming that rules had changed that very day and she could not sell me a ticket without an ID. I showed my ID to complete the purchase, but immediately protested to the store manager. Following the incident, that employee was not seen for a while. However, she has recently started working at the store again. I do not know what kind of powerful backing she has, or if ACME simply looks down on Asian customers, but this is completely unacceptable. I have been a loyal customer for 30 years, staying with this location through its various name changes. Out of respect for that history, I refrained from posting a public review at the time, even though I have a video recording of the entire incident. Bringing back an employee who exhibited such blatant bias is a liability and a disservice to the community. I firmly believe she will discriminate against Asian customers again. This update is only for my purchase from the deli counter and not the store as a whole. Was walking by and Dion was enthusiastically promoting "Cheap Chicken Monday", where an 8 piece fried, grilled, or mixed deli chicken is priced at $6.99, reduced from the regular price of $8.99. Purchased a mix of fried and grilled chicken. The fried chicken was fresh, pieces were decently sized, and tasty. Haven't tried the grilled yet, pieces of which seem to be a bit smaller than the fried. Will update when I do. read more

What can I say that hasn't been said about a grocery store... ACME is a decent spot to shop for your groceries. They are open until midnight, which is super convenient. You can make your late night food/snacks runs! They have a large parking lot and every time I've been here it hasn't been too crowded. The store is large, clean, and bright. I can easily find what I'm looking for without going crazy and running from aisle to aisle. They have a bakery, deli counter, seafood counter, and meat department. Additionally, there's a Starbucks, pharmacy, and florist shop. Prices are higher than other stores, so it's not the best option to buy from here. I prefer Aldi, Shop Rite, or Trader Joe's. I go the self-check out route so I can't speak on the service or friendliness of the employees. read more

The hot food section where they sell chicken and ready food has horrible service. When I was trying to get some chicken, there was a male African American worker who took forever to take my order and said "What do you want?" the second he came over. I told him what I wanted, and was immediately struck down mid-sentence with a "I CAN'T F*CKING HEAR YOU, YOU THINK I CAN SERIOUSLY HEAR YOU?" to which I was extremely taken aback by. I understand I might not have been talking loud enough, but that response is inexcusable. I ended up telling him what I wanted, in a much louder and admittedly rude tone, and he says "God, thank you" under his breath. I thought this may just have been something that happened to me, but I see other people have also had bad experiences with the same area of the supermarket. The chicken isn't bad, but ACME should reconsider who they hire, especially for jobs where you have to have an at least average social ability to know that that wasn't a proper response. read more

This Acme is open until midnight- convenient when you need a quick grocery run or that late night baking craving hits and you realize you don't have eggs lol. They also sell alcohol here too, which not all grocery stores do. At the front of the store, you'll also find a small Starbucks and in the back, they also have a Pharmacy where they offer seasonal vaccines. Normally I do grocery delivery for most of my groceries, but when I have come to Acme, I'm usually find what I need easily. They have s good variety of brands in addition to the Albertsons 'selection' brand. The prices are about average. As others have noted, they don't offer many specials. They do have an Acme for U loyalty program but I've never gotten anything from there. I've heard some complaints from locals that the produce here is sometimes overdue but I have not had this experience. My main complaint with this location is that they barely have any registers open so you have to do self check out almost always. However, the staff here is generally pretty helpful. read more

Their customer service is extremely disgusting. They use DoorDash to order to my house. The DoorDash guy took a picture of a door with my groceries sitting in front of it to my surprise when I opened my door it wasn't my door so when I called the guy would be back in 10 minutes. 40 minutes later he shows up with all my warm lukewarm food that should've been refrigerated chicken meat, eggs, cheese, and then it like either his wife, his kid or his dog got into the food. All the bread was squashed not edible the bananas look like they were slammed against the wall a few times turned black and then I was missing which they refunded then I thought about would you want to eat food that's been sitting outside for 45 minutes in front of somebody's house you don't know I don't so I asked for a I'm still waiting for it. I understand It is Christmas, as much as we all want to get to our family, we are all trying to make money as well. I had three orders for DoorDash here. I was almost done. Just needed less then 5 items, there was an elder white man working, the elder man kept looking at me in a distance didn't really mind it, he came around and told me they were closing in 30 minutes and then again when he told me the second time they were closing in 15 minutes he said it loud enough that it sounded a bit concerning didn't pay mind but, when it was time of closing he went to a family and told them that the store is closed that they should go pay, but once he came to me he yelled at me saying "we are closed to go to the cash register to pay" as I told him I'm going that if he could help me just real quick he went ahead yelled louder and said that "the store is closed and that he is trying to get to his family and the store is closed". As I was going towards the front, an elder white woman was talking to someone telling them there closed, and once again she yelled at us and said she can't do nothing about it there closed the registers are closing that she doesn't know what she can do. As I asked if I can finish up she yelled she couldn't help me and we couldn't do nothing but to just go pay cause that's there's nothing she can do and gave us attitude. I'm not a person to complain. First time in this location in quite some time. I was pleasantly surprised that I had a good experience. The fruits and vegetables here looked pretty good, and tasted fresh after returning home. All the departments are clearly labeled, and easy to read. Nothing looked ransacked so you know the staff is working diligently to upkeep this store, and it appeared the staff were all around working hard. It has a pretty good sized parking lot since it is on its own free-standing building. Also, there were not many people shopping at this location. Acme in Fort Lee and Acme in Edgewater around where I live. The fact that Fort Lee Acme has Starbucks is one major merit of coming to Fort Lee one. During the COVID 19, mid April, we visited a couple of markets around to do some grocery shopping - 1) H mart in Leonia, 2) CVS in Leonia, 3) Hannam in Fort Lee, and 4) Acme in Fort Lee - for different stuff. The price of 24 pack Poland Spring water was - $6.99 - $6.59 - $7.99 - $5.49 respectively. We felt like comparing the prices, and yes, major American stores are definitely not spiking the price. We were well masked & gloved to prepare for the next few weeks, with everything !!!! Luckily, there weren't many customers in the store and we did not need to line up at Acme - around 7 pm on Monday. read more

For being located in fort Lee, a very eclectic demographic, you don't offer as many varieties as the edgewater location. I hate having to drive all the way to that location. Also please fix your Apple Pay if you offer it to customers; otherwise, don't make it available or have a sign posted on your credit/debit card machines. Thrice I've tried to use it and thrice I've been embarrassed by your employees saying I don't have enough funds in my account when that isn't so. I don't say anything but perhaps train your team members to be discreet so other patrons don't hear the exchange, or like I mentioned before, put up a sign or make it unavailable. I have never had a worse experience grocery shopping than I did today at the Acme Market next to Fort Lee High School. The few store employees I asked for help finding specific items (I was shopping for some elderly relatives) could not have been nastier or less helpful, but I maintained my sunny disposition. Then as I had gathered over $150 worth of items I was looking for a specific type of diet lemonade for my 80 year old diabetic cousin when another shopper ran over the back of my foot with his cart. I simply said, "Excuse me just hit me with your cart." The man freaked out and began screaming at me accusing me of coughing. Not only did I not cough, but my back was to him. I was happy to see the store manager arrive, but instead of asking the large scary man that was screaming at me to calm down he threw me out of the store. I should state that I am 5'8 and 150 pounds while the manager and the man screaming at me were both over 6 feet tall and at least 250 pounds, I have never been treated so rudely in my entire life and will continue to post this every day until the manager is disciplined or fired. Big, beautiful supermarket that has everything you might look for at a supermarket except good service. Expect long waits. If someone in front of you has a price check, you're better off switching lanes because it will take forever. And they'll send you home with your groceries in pre-torn bags so you'll have hand carry everything home. I'd go to the Korean spot if their prices weren't so exorbitant. Convenient, but wildly over priced. They have a huge selection and options, but you're paying $5-$7 for a bag of chips you could get at Aldi's for $2. Their meat selection wasn't bad and the prices weren't as bad compared to other departments. Would def drive a little further to Aldis to pay less then 50% of the price. read more

ACME Markets just recently bought some supermarkets in the area. I believe this location was a former A & P. The other day was my first visit here and may be my last. I have serious concerns about this supermarket. While I find the produce to be good. Plenty of options. Fresh looking. Good pricing. The beef, chicken, pork, etc. did not have that good looking bright color. The chicken had that dark color and grey tint to it. Not very appealing. While the beef looked bright red; I felt refrigeration was not up to par. Most of the refrigeration at ACME looked like it was low in temp. I touch various items for temp and while it was cool, it was not cold. Usually when you walk through the meat department it is cold to freezing; not here. I just did not feel comfortable buying meats or refrigerated items. I wish ACME good luck. This is the same situation I found at an other location. Maybe they are waiting to do some renovations, but until they do; I will be going to other markets. In a pinch would buy bread, produce, can items, package items, but that is all. As of late, this place has grown on me. Up one star you go, ACME. The main reaon is that the last time I went, the sales were INSANE! Examples: Chips a hoy for $1.60 a box, buy one get one free Lay's chips. $1.79 for Langers juice, and there was even a buy 6, get $3.00 back promo - I ended up getting 6 juices for $1.30 each! I've never seen these go for any less than $2.00 a pop elsewhere. They also have random clearance sections which are worth a look-see. I got some fancy peanut oil for half off, and some veggie broth for $1.75. Safe to say the sale prices alone make this store worth checking out. Okay, now I'm not so sad A&P is gone. While it is cheaper than when A&P was there, you basically get what you paid for with quality. They do have a lot of BOGO (Buy One Get One) sales but some things aren't that much cheaper, and seems like it would be the same price if I were to buy two. Pros: Starbucks, lots of parking, and usually not that busy. Cons: The quality of the fresh produce. So be careful to pick and choose the better fruits from a bunch of not so great ones. read more

On the good side, you can choose 4 packs of meat (chicken, pork or beef) for 19.99 dollars. Occasionally you can buy 3 packs of blueberries, strawberries or raspberries for 10.00 dollars. Also there are lots of ingredients for baking. One the bad side, we have occasionally bought food that turned out not to be fresh. The supermarket really should check the products they are selling to make sure they are fresh - the swordfish steaks were pricey but, when I took them out of the freezer to cook, they smelled bad. I now realise I should have smelled the fish before I bought it. I just took it for granted that it was fresh when the butcher wrapped it up and handed it to me. The mixed melon salad was fermented. The raspberries looked good on top but, fortunately the plastic container opened in the shopping cart, were completely moldy at the bottom. read more

This place is a sh*t show. I live in the area and purchase all of my seafood, meat and vegetables from Hmart, Caffaso's, Mitsuwa or Whole Foods because Acme is beyond awful. I don't think they try too hard because they know they are the only non specialty supermarket in the area. Too many times, the fish was spoiled, the meat was subpar and the vegetables were either past their prime or missing! (They are ALWAYS out of many items, especially produce, or just don't carry them). However, I still need staples such as milk, butter, eggs, paper towels etc, so I go to Acme and am always reminded how awful the store is. Yesterday, I waited in line for 15 minutes at the Customer Service counter and finally gave up, then I waited in the regular line for 20+ minutes at 2pm because they only had 2 registers open and the place was packed. They also have the cheapest shopping bags available. You have to triple bag heavy items and then they still break. A bag broke on me yesterday and a 15lb turkey fell on my foot. The intense pain summed up the inevitable agony I experience every time I'm in that store. You can do better Acme. read more

Despite the fact that the store was so big they did not have a healthy brand of raisin bran cereal, nor did they have Newmans K Cups coffee. The prepared foods did not look good either. I get the difficulty of placing an online order for pickup, i get the website being down. the selection generally is okay, and i was grateful they let me buy a thing of toilet paper. On April 1 ,2017 when my family and I were shopping at ACME. We want to buy some ham at the deli section and was not sure if it was close or not "around 8pm." A afraid American female worker she is on her 40s I believe came by the Deli area when I asked her if the ham area closed? she was rude and respond YES in a very mean way and ignore us and in front of my two kids!!! I am very grateful to this Acme in particular for constant good service. I have asked for some things (eg, Braggs apple vinegar, plain regular non-fat yogurt), and they have not only listened, but almost within the week, they have the item(s) stocked, and then regularly thereafter. It is a real pleasure to have such service, when there is so little in so many places. They are hardworking, and I think, really undervalued.
