It was 5pm on a slow Monday so we were seated right away. The interior is cozy, quiet, and clean. We started with 3 Mixed Appetizers along with their complimentary warm bread. The 3 dips were all solid but nothing out of the ordinary. Good flavor, smooth & creamy texture, and great for sharing. I love ordering dishes like the Mixed Kebab Platter for Two as we get a taste of everything and it's family-style. The presentation was beautiful, the meats were tender, and I like that they paired it with rice, bulgur, and some salad. All the meats were tender and well-seasoned but could've been hotter in temperature. I particularly enjoyed the chicken & lamb adana kebabs. My other minor complaint was the sides were not enough to share and the ratio compared to the meats was off. We definitely could've used more rice with the meats. The staff were super kind & friendly the entire time. Decent try overall!

Visited Antioch during the holidays so it wasn't that busy. I'm sure on a Friday and Saturday it'd be more busy. The restaurant itself doesn't have much seating, only a few tables, I would say about 50 people occupancy so if you're going, make sure you make reservations. The place was nicely decorated and well kept and clean. The service was great, but this is based on 2 tables being served. I'm sure the service is just as exceptional on busy days. I love that they start out with table bread, I wished they asked us if the table wanted more. We ordered a few dishes for the table, everything was delicious. The dishes we ordered is the usual dishes that we'd order from any Mediterranean restaurant. The fries calf liver is definitely something to try. Massive amounts of flavor. The chicken kebab is very tender and the steak had a nice char flavor. Can't wait to go back again and introduce this little place to more people.

We had to ask twice for our rice we ordered for entrees to be brought out because our server forgot. Fine, that happens. But what really threw me off was when I questioned if the mold in my cheese was normal, the server assured me it was naturally occurring for the flavor. I felt gaslit because I have never had Parmesan with such questionable green growth on it for consumption in any restaurant in my entire life. The server said if it bothered me, he'd bring out fresh shavings with no mold. I have left pictures so you can be the judge of this. Aside from my minor issue with the cheese, the ambiance of the restaurant was nice and there's plenty of choices for meat and non-meat eaters alike

My group ordered several appetizers, including the hummus sampler and the octopus. For the main dishes, everyone ordered either the skirt steak, branzino, or the chicken skewers. Everything was delicious. No complaints about the food at all. The only comment is that we were a table of seven with early reservations since we had a baby with us. Even though we were one of the first and only tables when we arrived, the service was a bit slow and we had to get the waiter's attention a few times. This was not enough to lose any stars. Tried Lulu for the first time on Saturday. Excellent experience…read more It was right before the staff showed up for dinner service, so only a couple of tables were occupied. The menu is simple, but covers everything we love. Server came by with warm, fresh, fluffy seasoned pita and a dish of seasoned olive oil. Great start. Started with Cheese Borek and Fried Liver cubes -- The Borek was the best we have had and we order that anytime we dine Mediterrean. The 4 Borek were fat, fried to perfection, and their filling of Feta and spinach was hot, melty and super tasty. We love love Fried Liver, and Lulu does it to perfection. The portion was huge, and dressed with red onion and lemon juice, it sang. We decided to split an order of Manti, those delightful tiny lamb dumplings tossed with burnt butter and garlic yogurt -- holy holy. We ran some liver around that sauce, and were glad we saved some of the bread to sop everything up. So good. Ordered the Kunefe, as we always do. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the table -- so if you are thinking about it, order it before they take your dinner plates away. The Kunefe was good. We think they forgot to add to the syrup it comes in -- but maybe that's the way they do it. It won't disappoint, but I missed that rosewater sugar syrup we are used to. Different places, different recipes. In all, Lulu did not disappoint and we look forward to visiting again. Go, go go. And tip your servers well.

Velvety with great mouth feel and lovely smokiness this was so good w/ their table bread Turkish Ravioli (Manti) (APP, 3/5) - Chewy little nuggets w. yogurt filling, it was pretty enjoyable though my colleague gave ma "Meh" since she makes them at home and probably has high bar. It was good for maybe the first 3 or 4, so perhaps better ordered for larger groups. Shepherd Salad (APP, 4/5) - Fresh, bright(as in vinegar), and herbaceous, we added feta cheese to it and it was perfect balance to our entree. Kofte Kebab (MAIN, 4/5) - Not too dry with packed flavor of all the herbs & beef, I really enjoyed my dish. Went great with all the other accouterments such as slightly cinged wedge of tomato and onion slices, all frolicking on a bed of warm rice that had a nice bite. Adana Kebap (MAIN, 4/5) - My colleague had this one, and I tried a piece. It was juicy and had no hint of gaminess which is always a plus for lamb. 3. Service (3/5) - This being a mom & pop store, I think they're short on staff. Usually they're all in the back cooking, so you do need to be a bit patient to flag someone down. But I'm sure they're more attentive during busy hours. (We went during weekday) Overall, Hakki Baba is a solid turkish mom & pop shop that delivers on great authentic flavor at a reasonable price. In the sea of turkish restaurants in Cliffside Park area, this one is one of my favorite. Pay them a visit!

The bread could be better (served fresher and a bit fluffier). The octopus salad is mouth wateringly delicious. The chicken shish kebab is perfect every single time and is probably the juiciest chicken I've ever had at any restaurant. The sides it's served with deliver an orgasmic bite. Adana kebab is also consistently good. The first time I had the veal chops they were incredibly delicious. The texture and flavor of the meat were perfect and went so well with the bread and sides. However, the next time I ordered the same dish, the meat was dry and not as flavorful. Being that it's one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, I think it's important for them to maintain consistency. I usually go during the day or early evening and every time I've gone, the ambiance has been laid back and relaxing. Service is always friendly and welcoming despite the language barrier. So, when he recently suggested driving a good deal out of the way in order to sample their food for a takeout dinner, I still agreed. As he drove, I called to place our order for a large family gathering, and the woman on the phone did not miss a beat. She captured all of our requested items and customizations, ensuring that our meal arrived as expected. I should note that Zula required pre-payment for large orders to make sure that the food was collected. Agreeing to the lengthy excursion was not without its challenges, namely having to drive back with the heavenly food smells tantalizing us throughout the entire journey. When we arrived back at the house, other folks were still chatting, but I tore into the bag and tried to hand out the meals as quickly as I could in order to then indulge myself. My Chicken Breast Platter included the choice of two side dishes, one pita, and a small cup of tahini. In terms of the poultry, the two breasts were on the smaller size, but were lean, thinly-sliced, well-grilled, and flavorful. For the first side dish, I had the Israeli Salad, which was fresh, bright, and, thankfully, not too oniony. Secondly, the Moroccan carrots were a bit oily, but offered a nice heat and spice level. The fluffy pita was soft, gooey, and melt in your mouth tasty. In terms of the tahini, I opted for the standard variety, rather than the tahini amba with pickled mango. The traditional version was rich, thick, and acted as a great topping for the chicken and the pita. Lastly, I shared some of the large quart of Hummus, which was creamy, well-seasoned, and simply delicious. In fact, someone at the table thought it might have even been the best they had ever had, and I agree that it was certainly close!
