Filetto Alla Romana was fantastic. Layered: taostef Romano breaded tomato a fillet and a Poached egg and hollandaise sauce. The egg was poached just perfect.. fillet with cooked to a perfect medium, medium rare. The breading on the tomato was amazing. It was crisp and the sharpness from the Romano cheese was great. Not pictured was the crab cake.. this thing was truly a mound of fresh lump crab. It had a nice thin crust on the outside.. definitely tasted fresh. The restaurant interior does not have a lot of tables so it definitely makes a nice spot for quiet brunch. The service was great..he was attentive to the table and insured everyone had their drinks full. They had a good selection of cocktails and wine. Oh my goodness, this was the most delicious Italian food we've had outside of Italy. The fish is fresh and the pasta and sauces are amazing. Had a wonderful dinner at Acqua Di Mare. This hidden gem has amazing food, five star service, and great ambience. We started with the octopus appetizer and strawberry arugula which set forth the food mood. Along with the apps we ordered two well made cocktails (sorry we forgot the names). We had our delightful meal served up tableside with Leandro. He served us Cacio e Pepe and Beef Wellington. The pasta was so delicious with the shaved truffle shrooms. The beef was cooked to perfection surrounded by the Bearnaise & Cabernet sauce (I wanted both). The outer pastry was light and flaky and soaked up the sauce just right for me. We wrapped up dinner with the tiramisu and coffee. We will return to try more of their delicious offerings. Great place for special occasions, dates, and feeling fancy. read more

My family and I made a reservation here on a Saturday night. We were aware it was going to be busy night but the fact that the water was so hot when they were pouring our water multiple times and the mist was warm we were sweating. Dripping we asked to move into the building and the Owner came to talk to us and didn't even acknowledge us he brushed us off his shoulder he didn't try and make anything more comfortable for us. SADLY we walked out and will never return again. Thank you to our sweet server by trying to help us out. This place is not worth a star rating. I'll start with the service. It was great! Our server Brittany was attentive and friendly. Always made sure our drinks were full or on order, I was nervous from other reviews of empty drinks. The assistants were also very attentive filling water glasses and clearing empty plates. We sat outside and even though the surrounding is downtown Chandler it gives the vibe of the Mediterranean sitting outside with low music and constant people watching. The food was good. The bread service was warm and crusty, and individual plates of oil and fresh cut herbs is a bonus. We started with octopus which had a nice char and presentation, on the smaller side but a good choice. We shared Cacio e Pepe and Paella (special this evening) for our mains. The Cacio e Pepe is prepared table side, the presentation is nice. I have had better and made with the bucatini noodle as generally served in Italy, but the truffle on top was a nice touch. The paella was delicious with the exception of the icy mussels it came with. They did bring out fresh hot ones to mix in after. The rice was perfect, and the other seafood in it was executed perfectly. The gentleman that made the table side Cacio stated they would be adding the paella to the normal menu. We stumbled upon Acqua Di Mare accidentally, I had seen it online many times but due to their hours, I hadn't had the pleasure of dining there. We had no reservation on a busy Sunday night, but were immediately seated on the patio next to a heater without hesitation. Although pricey, this was one of the best meals I've had in a restaurant in a LONG time. I ordered the Pocchetti Ala Nikola... I normally don't enjoy mushrooms or truffles, but I trusted our server, who I believe is also the head chef, and I had zero regrets. The pocchetti melted in my mouth and was absolutely incredible. I've only ever had pasta that good made by my grandfather, which is how you know it's good! They also served warm bread and olive oil, which was so yummy that I'm literally drooling writing this review. I can't recall the wine I had, but it was also just perfect, alongside the espresso martinis we had for dessert. Dining at Acqua Di Mare felt nostalgic and like a warm hug. We were very excited to try this restaurant after seeing all of the positive reviews. Arrived at 6pm for our reservation for 4. Were told they were a little behind and we would be seated soon. Didn't get our table til around 630, at this point our entire party was starving. We ordered a bottle of wine and settled in. The service was prompt to start and we received our wine in a timely manner. We ordered an appetizer and that came out shortly after. No complaints so far. Once we ordered our entrees, we noticed a strange dynamic happening in the restaurant. The servers on the patio were audibly arguing amongst themselves, and using language that was offensive to our group. This is unacceptable when spending well over $500 for the table - this isn't a sports bar! The arguing and bad attitudes of the servers continued to escalate as we sat and continued to wait for our food. At this point it had been an hour since we were seated - still no food. Our group joked about going across the street to the brewery to get dinner, as it felt like our food was never going to arrive. The food finally arrived and although the cheese wheel pasta was an impressive presentation, the noodles were lukewarm to cold and muddled the flavor. Once we began eating, we made it through our entire meal without being checked on once. Wine finished, food finished, and credit card on the table. Another 20 minutes go by before we are asked if we would like dessert. Against my better judgement, we ordered the cannolis to share. Another 15 minutes pass and no cannolis arrive. We flag the server down (who seemed annoyed with us) and asked for the check again. Once the check finally arrived, we noticed no cannolis on the bill. I cut my losses and paid the tab, which took another 10 minutes. When everything was said and done we had spent 2.5 hours at the restaurant, which cut into the time we had allotted to stop by Born and Bred for a cocktail after. Our group parted ways and commiserated on our dissatisfaction with our dining experience. Won't be back. Time is money and we all felt like our time AND money was wasted. NEVER AGAIN. read more

As a summary, I'd say - the place is OK, but definitely not worth the price. Which is disappointing, because we've been looking forward to trying Acqua di Mare for quite a while. My wife and I visited for dinner on our anniversary. We sat outdoors on the patio, and the ambiance both outside and inside the restaurant was really well done. Some reviewers have said that the place is too cramped, but we did not notice this to be a problem. Our server was super sweet, and very attentive. When we sat, she asked us if we were celebrating anything special, and we told her our 11 year anniversary, which I had already listed in the reservation notes. I'm not really sure why they ask, as there was no change in protocol. We each ordered a drink - my wife had an espresso martini and me a Blanton's bourbon. For dinner, we had the sacchetti porcini and truffle and the short rib papparadelle. No appetizers, no sides, no desserts. The sacchetti was tasty for sure, but sort of cold in the middle of each piece. I assume that the sacchetti is made in advance and boiled to order, which is fine and normal, but it should be hot. The plate was definitely hot, so it clearly sat under the heat lamp while waiting for the other dish. The presentation was also a bit bizarre, as it looked like the contents of the plate had all slid to one side as it was carried from the kitchen. Maybe that presentation is by design, but it was odd to see a plate of pasta half-empty. Under normal circumstances, I would never even comment on details like this, except for the fact that we were paying $40 for a plate of pasta. Under THOSE circumstances, I admittedly expect the food to be perfect. I personally preferred the papparadelle, which was a healthy portion, thick with short rib and a nice red sauce. Again, it was really good, but definitely not worth another $40. This dish was also not hot. Definitely not cold, but not hot either. By the time we were done, the bill was about $120 before tip, and we had two drinks and 2 plates of pasta. I fully recognize that restaurants are getting ridiculous in pricing, and that Acqua di Mare is not out of line with some other high-end Italian restaurants. To be fair, I think that ALL of these new Italian restaurants are ridiculously priced, and we have actively begun to modify our choices of where we eat. Although we are in a position to afford these types of places, it is philosophically challenging, and simply unnecessary to spend that kind of money on pasta. If the prices are going to be that high, every other aspect of the restaurant needs to justify those prices, and that is simply not the case at Acqua di Mare. In summary, the food is good, but there are multiple places in the area where you can get really good Italian food, specifically pasta, without paying $40 a plate. I'm glad that we tried Acqua di Mare, and we had a very nice anniversary dinner, but we won't be back. read more

When I made the reservation over a month ago, I made it a point to note that we were celebrating our 22nd anniversary. It is rare that our anniversary falls on a Saturday and we don't have some sort of plans involving our kids! When we arrived, the hostess did note that we were celebrating and told us that she would make sure our server knew. That was it. Not a single mention of it after that. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, but when our server gave us our check, my husband looked at me and said, "I guess they dropped the ball on our anniversary." I emailed the restaurant the next day and have yet to hear any sort of reply. Hopefully they see it here and use the feedback to make sure that future patrons who are there for a celebration get the extra attention that surrounds their event. read more

Incredible experience and some of the best pasta I've ever had! You have to do the Cacio D'Pepe - watching the chef light the giant cheese wheel on fire and then mixing the melted cheese with the freshly prepared pasta - wow!! And the final flourishes of truffles and salt- it was amazing! And the pasta itself- delicious, decadent, rich - it is a must try! And the Short Rib Pappardelle was equally magnificent. The best place I've been too since moving to AZ! The appetizers were superp. Crab cake and prosciutto plates. The bread was perfect consistency for the prosciutto board. The truffle and truffle oil was the perfect touch Steak Diane and beef Wellington were fantastic. As good or better than any steakhouse I've been to locally, but the wine and bearnaise sauce were killer. The beef Wellington blew me away. Sizes were also very generous. Canolis rocked.
