After calling 15 different mechanic shops and getting price quotes from all of them as well as discussing the procedure on how they go about doing the service...I decided to put my trust and give my business to Action Auto Care. First time customer and wanted to make sure that the transmission fluid change was done correctly because after all if a shop under fills or over fills or doesn't top it off properly when the vehicle is warmed up then that can lead to serious problems with your transmission which means replacement and a lot of money. The way Robert explained how he does the transmission fluid change ultimately made me decide to give him and his shop my business. The price was reasonable and cheaper than most other quotes. Dropped off my vehicle in the morning and just like he said around 4pm he called to let me know my vehicle was ready. I also asked him about my control arm bushings because other mechanic shops I took it to previously was saying either I had to replace it or it need to be replaced in the near future. Robert was such a nice mechanic and honest mechanic that he took the time to show me exactly how to tell if it is time to replace the bushings...I'm really happy and thankful I finally found a mechanic that is trying to honestly give good information to the customer and pass on knowledge so that I now can confidently know when it is time to change it. Ultimately it's about building a trustful relationship with a mechanic where you can feel confident that the information and service that you are receiving is honest and the price is not outrageous. I can say after my first time trying out this shop that I will be back for future car maintenance/repair based on their price for services compared to other shops but more because of the honesty and customer service that he provides with passing on knowledge so that you can feel confident in knowing more about your own vehicle. read more

Let me preface this by saying I personally hate yelp - this system is so fucked its 5 stars or nothing. The majority of places should have 3 stars and everyone should be happy with that but that's not how it is. Anyways I try to balance things out by leaving some positive reviews since people often write them when they are negative. I did originally find this shop via yelp but I continued going due to the excellent service. Robert - who runs the place - is just the kind of mechanic anyone would want. His prices are competitive and he's honest about them - I've shopped around for repairs and told him when another shop has something cheaper and he would tell me why going with them may or may not be a good idea / why the price might be different and left it up to me to decide. My car has had an abnormal amount of issues over this past year or two and I like to ask a lot of questions and understand exactly what's failed and what's being fixed and he always takes the time to explain it to me. In the past few years he's replaced my alternator, replaced the compressor in my AC system, replaced my stolen catalytic converter, and changed my oil and probably more - never had a problem with any of his teams work. I even started calling him instead of my dad when I have a car issue I can't immediately figure out! He'll happily help me out over the phone (time permitting) even though he may not have time to make the repair as soon as I need it and will recommend another shop. You might get an oil change somewhere else cheaper but for any other work I'd go to Robert first and like I said he's more than happy to give you and estimate and have call around for other prices. After listening to what happened, Robert had advised me to talk to insurance which I didn't know at the time could cover my damage. TRUSTWORTHY! Been going to Robert for the last 10 years with my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder. Simply the best!

I've never written a Yelp review before, and it pains me to write this, but this was easily the worst car mechanic experience I have ever had. I used Action Auto Care because my normal mechanic was booked up for a routine service. I do think Robert is a genuinely good person, but I felt there was a dereliction of duty in regards to their inspection. Upon completion of my service, they noted in the report that my brakes were making a scrapping noise, but there was nothing to worry about. I even brought it in the next day after noticing the sound, and rode around with Robert in the car, and he reassured me the noise was nothing to worry about. Additionally, they noted my battery was fine in the maintenance report. My car continued to make the scrapping noise, and I took it to my usual mechanic as soon as they could get me in . Upon inspection, they noted my brakes were metal on metal with zero brake pad left. In the inspection report from Action, they noted I had 3mm left in the back brakes. How can someone not notice something like this, and even note the brakes are making a scraping noise in their report? I was flabbergasted at the result from my regular mechanic, and pretty upset that it was not noticed by Action. Had I not immediately gone for a second opinion, I could have ruined my braking system. Additionally, after the service, my battery went dead only a few days later. This did not upset me as much as the brakes, but it still left me wondering, what exactly did these guys do for my typical maintenance service? How did they not notice my battery was shot, and I have no brake pads left? I would not recommend using them after this experience. Maybe because I was a new customer who needed a service done quickly they didn't apply their typical standards, but I feel the entire experience was completely negligible on their part. read more

I limped into their garage, and immediately got help finding a shop to take my German car to (this shop specializes in Japanese cars), gave me the most likely cause of my problem, and helped push my car back to the street since my reverse gear had failed. I've been coming here for over 10 years because Robert's honesty, ability to deliver on time and on quote, and thoroughness never cease to amaze me. The short version of this is that he is extremely trustworthy, which I believe is the most important criteria that distinguishes a great mechanic. The long version is that I've brought 3 different cars in over the last 10 years. In the first instance, I was a poor grad student who had to get the drum brakes replaced on a chevy blazer. This required taking off the fuel tank to access the brakes, which was a substantial endeavor. Robert told me straight up what needed to be done, quoted me a very competitive price for the whole thing, and got it done when he said he would (a little earlier, in fact). In the second instance, My alternator stopped working while driving on the freeway, causing the car to abruptly stop. AAA towed me to Action Auto Care, and Robert took it in and fixed it first thing the next morning and again quoted me a very reasonable price. Most recently, I made an appointment to get my brakes checked for a Toyota Prius. Robert checked the mileage, checked the disc brake pads, and then drove with me around the block to test the braking distance. He told me straight up that I probably had 25 - 50 K more miles before replacement, shook my hand, and didn't charge me a dime. If you need work done on your car, please consider Action Auto Care. Thrilled customer here! Backstory: I stopped by and chatted with Robert about doing brakes and rotors since two friends mentioned they had great experiences at Action Auto. I was going to do my own brake job on my 2012 VW Tiguan, then realized VW made it wayyyyy overly complicated and expensive... as they somehow do with everything on this car. Since a special computer and tools are needed, I wasn't even sure I could go anywhere but the dealer. Robert assured me they could do the job and had the tools, and he was right.
