So Active AC called me one day saying they are doing some collaboration with LA DWP and was installing nests for free. They wanted to visit my unit and inform me (I manage a lot of properties) about this great offer and so I wanted to try it on my home before referring them to another unit. They picked the appointment time that was convenient for them and gave me a window of 9am-12pm. They called me at 12.19pm to inform me that they didn't have the parts and would have to reschedule. If you see my other review, I have been already pretty turned off with their lack of professionalism on keeping their appointments or calling ahead of time to cancel an appointment, but their work was pretty good so I gave them a higher review, but their time management skills are really breaking this company. I see another review that is similar to the same issue. Again, if you are home all day and don't have a schedule, their work done for one of my unit's was pretty good, but if time is of essence or if you have to take work off to meet their schedules, beware.... they are not reliable.. They called back to reschedule. Free or not, I think 3 late/cancelled appointments is enough for me. I am pretty much done with this company. read more

Active air found the specific issue with my unit and was a LOT less to fix. The technician kept in contact to see how my unit was doing and really went beyond what was required. Instead of doing anything about it, they claimed its something to do with "balancer" and referred it to another business. I was referred to this company through my home warranty American Home Shield regarding my a/c leaking through my bathroom. This company came out to my place three times to repair the a/c leak. Each visit they are rushing and not checking the unit condensation pan to see if its clogged to fix the leaks that we keep having. Now my garage has a leak. Today they did not show up for the 4th appoint that they made with me on 7/10/20. I got a call on Saturday to reschedule for Sunday from 12-4pm. I was given a 4 hour time window Active did not show up or call . I called them and left two messages. This company is not professional. The heating had gone out when the nights have been so cold and the team sleuthed the solution brilliantly, in and under the house, despite a rather unexpected reason for the unresponsive thermostat! Received a call from these folks on Monday advising they couldn't get someone out till Thursday....okay....they get here & are not even here for 10mins. The 2 individuals that came out popped off my side panel, sprayed WD 40, and kick started it w a screw driver..... A DAMN SCREW DRIVER people !!! Called them back because of course my AC was still not working & the very rude lady who answered could care less because all she did was "make appointments" was supposed to receive a follow up call & by no surprise received nothing. You came to my home in late July and the first technician said TXV valve. You sent a second team a week later and charged me $300 for coolant and disputed it was the original diagnosis. My air conditioner has the exact same problem and I don't have air again. I knew it was the original issue and here I am again. This was work done thru American Home Shield. Let me give you summary. My home warranty claim sent them back in November. It's January and after two months of calling them and my home warranty company calling them, they finally submit their paperwork so I can get my AC fixed! Technician was here and after troubleshooting determined it was compressor. He said that's "easy fix" just need to order part and submit to warranty company. Didn't mentioned anything else about the work and said that's all. Surprise!!! Today they tell me it requires additional modifications so out of pocket over $1k!! Wow!! They installed new unit, showed me how to operate new thermostat. They Cleaned up everything. They all wore masks, they worked nonstop and were very thorough. I would highly recommend this company! DO NOT HIRE THIS SHOP. horrible company. they were sent out by my warranty company. twice their tech victor said he didn't. see me on the schedule. Then in his notes he then blames the fact he didn't show up on me, saying he was running late and I wouldn't be home. i had 5 appointment s with t this company and they kept 2. not even letting me know they would not show up. today they were sent again to look at my duct work by my warranty Co. We had paid for All Heart to come asses our unit and duct work for a second opinion. They suggested that our DW needed replacement so another claim was filed. The tech from Active refused to even look at the duct work. the unit was being replaced and when AH stated "that duct is really bad isn't it" the guy from active laughed at him. he did absolutely nothing on the call. I am another home warranty customer unhappy with their service. I allowed my home warranty company to contract them even though I was very hesitant with the reviews. It is true they do not answer the phone. It is also true that they make appointments and do not fulfill them. I was supposed to have an appointment on a Friday from 12-4 and they reached out to me at 1:30 saying they needed to reschedule me for Monday. Like I said, I was already hesitant due to the reviews and the fact that this company has a C- on the BBB. Our a/c started acting up last week during the worst heatwave. It quit cooling fully and got loud and ran almost double the time. We called a supposed reputable company out to diagnose and fix and they did a rush job and said it was shot and i needed a new compressor. CARL came in with the some of the most advanced HVAC equipment and found 3 main issues the were killing the unit. He explained what pets were needed and costs to make the unit run like new. He got the job done in a timely manner and cleaned up the unit and mess and made sure the unit was running properly. I don't understand why so many people have given them bad reviews I have used active air for couple of my homes and everytime I have had an amazing experience, I know for a fact that some things are not covered but my warranty company and I think that's why some people are angry with them but I have read every word in my contract with ahs and first America warranty on all my properties so sometimes there are charges Becouse they don't cover everything and all of it is explained in the contracts, out of 18 times I have used active air they have only charged me 2 times for Freon I have 5 homes and a 12 unit apartment complex, active air is located in Los Angeles but service my apartment that's 2 hours away every-time my tenants had nothing but good to say about them, it was time for me to leave a honest review they are a amazing company I have had 2 different techs from this company and both have been just amazing very knowledgeable always tell me what I can do to maintain my units and explained the issue to me so I can understand what exactly is going on, their rates are amazing I have 2 properties that do not have warranty on them so I use active air privately I was reading a few reviews and can't believe it's the same company, if you want a good tech ask for victor or Carl to come out both are amazing guys and are very professional in what they do I am very happy to have found a good ac company I can rely on that do not take advantage and are friendly and understanding about everything I wish they did more than ac and heating repairs and installs of new units I would use them for everything but they only do hvac and that's probably why they know what they are doing read more

Unprofessional, unresponsive, and unreliable. I would never in a million years recommend Active Air to anyone. After two visits to attempt to fix my heater and a promise to return with a missing part, the company then ghosted me. We were without heat for nearly six weeks as I attempted to get a hold of them - I called multiple times, left messages. Our home insurance company (FAHM) also attempted to reach Active Air Heating & Cooling with no success. I can't imagine how a company that treats its customers this way is still in business. 1 month after my final attempt to reach them, after I had to get another company to come and finish the job, Active Air then had the audacity to reach out to me to ask me to refer them to others (?) after never returning my call or completing a service for my own heating system. When I pointed this out, they went back to not responding. At best, they are disorganized with terrible client service. But the impression I was left with was that they do not value their customers at all. Chose anyone else. read more

I have an AHS Home Warranty for a condominium that I own in Palm Springs. Active Air Heating & Cool was assigned to fix my A/C problem. They first said that they would show up between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm, the problem was they never showed up or called. I rescheduled another appointment the following day between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm and they didn't show up within the window of time they committed to. The technician ended showing up around 3 pm. The technician had an attitude and didn't apologize for his not showing up on time. They proceeded to do the work and the A/C still didn't properly work as only warm room temperature air comes out. I would give this company less than a one if I could, I am very upset with there lack of customer concern. read more

Seven days later, in 100+ degree weather, they were supposed to show between 10-2 -- they texted me at 5:15 to reschedule another 3 days later. Unbelievably frustrating. I was assigned to them via a home warranty and was given an appointment window on Wednesday from 10-2. No one ever called or emailed or came during that time. I called them at 2:30 and got no one so left a voicemail asking what had happened. Finally at 3 I got an odd text saying that the technician was on his way and would be there at 3:10. I had not made plans for that window to work given my original 4 hour window but needed the job done so quickly moved some things around to make time. Imagine my surprise when the next time I checked the app, the technician had marked the job as "begun". No one had called or rung the bell. I tried the company again. No answer. Finally I check the app and the job is marked "complete" after 10 or so minutes. I call AGAIN and finally get someone, who says the technician reported I hadn't been at home. Not once had the bell rung or had I gotten a text. They said they would look into it and call me back. Nothing. I call again 45 minutes later. No answer. I leave a voicemail. No response all of Thursday. I call again Friday morning and still get no one. Clearly this isn't going to work. I suggest you move on. Update: turns out they also reported the job "done" to my home warranty, meaning I also had to go through the trouble of trying to untangle that misinformation with the home warranty in order to try to get a different contractor scheduled. A huge hassle that would have been worse than them simply reporting the truth that they were a no-show. Just the absolute worst. read more

This is the worst company I've dealt with! AHS referred them because Iwas having issues with my AC at home, they came, diagnosed the issue as a defective compressor. AHS declined the repair because Active told them that my AC system is missing a receiver drier (total lie). I called AHS to get a second opinion and the second company came , they told me I had a bad compressor and I asked them if I had any missing parts. They showed me the receiver drier, that confirmed that Active lied to my face and to AHS! Active didn't want to do my job because according to them "they dont make money on a job like mine". This company just lies and the girls in the office dont know SH!T about AC or heating. Would not recommend this place to anyone and if AHS refers them to come look at your AC or Heating tell them you want someone else to go.
