Simple and delicious and the addition of the pizzas also a good thing. Kinda wish there was a time limit on seating. People sitting long beyond their lunches when others have no where to sit especially when shade is a premium. Maybe just a sign at tables saying to be courteous to other patrons and limit your time to 30 minutes. Aside from that everything is great(don't mind them having pepper flakes for the pizzas available too).

Excellent on all accounts. I try not to come too often so that I appreciate it more. Prix Fixe comfort food is only for those really see the perfection in everyday cooking done right. Menu: Bouchon Bread, Chopped Salad, Pork Belly served over Orzo served with toasted cauliflower, 28 year old Gouda, Buttermilk Fried chicken, French Onion Dip Kettle Chips, Lemon Posset Shortbread crumble. Served Family style it is the perfect Napa Valley style meal after a long day in the sun. The Fried Chicken and Kettle Chips were extra. Service was on point and staff was friendly and attentive but not intruding. Aside, a woman and her family that did not make reservations was extremely insistent and hard on the host staff and delayed the seating for 10 minutes, but the staff never lost their cool. Obviously a Thomas Keller restaurant that is not French Laundry isn't exactly the same, but I still give this a 5 for the consistent quality of food and dining experience.

We had a dinner reservation here for a large group. Set menu was $69 but there are a couple of add on menu items that you can get a la carte and they are priced per plate (versus per person). 3.5 stars but rounding to 4 stars. Minimal signage, farm-to-table vibe, sleek interior, and a beautiful outdoor picnic/garden area that's open for lunch. I got a cocktail (forgot which) but was tasty. The staff was incredibly welcoming. The menu does come out family style for you to share, but they portion it perfectly that everyone has a good portion. Thoughts on the dishes: + Broccolini Salad - simple, clean taste. The sherry vinaigrette was light, and I really liked mushrooms palladin crisp although from reading the menu, I thought there would be actual mushrooms + French Onion Dip & Kettle chips - the onion dip was tasty but I expected some caramelized onions in there. Chips were tasty but debatable is homemade? For an add on of $24, a little pricey. + Crispy Pork Belly - these were very large but on the underwhelming side. Maybe just a preference on how to cook pork belly but these were pretty tough both meat and skin. A workout to cut and chew. I wish there was more verde sauce to soften it up and the sauteed greens on touch was a nice pairing. + Buttermilk Fried Chicken - the infamous chicken was surprising not on the set menu but an add on for $32. Too pricey in my opinion where the chicken was juicy but the crispy skin was a little tough too. It was not oily though and the Hoc hot sauce was a good amount of vinegar for me. + Manchego - a tasty, savory, firm piece of cheese for sure. I didn't love the pairing with bread (I feel like a soft cheese is better for that large piece of bread) so I ate the cheese and garlic confit alone, but I think a homemade jam would have made it so good. + Tiramisu - solid but not as coffee forward and soft/pillowy. The kids really loved the garden area so I would consider coming back and trying their lunch!

    Fried chicken

We were a tipsy party of four on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Having just left a wine tasting, we were famished and in need of substance. One of the guests in our party raved about the fried chicken here, so we opted for seats at the bar to order ala carte. We had the French onion dip and chips for appetizers, and it was absolutely divine. The dip was rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, while the chips were exceptionally crisp without being greasy. It was one of those appetizers that disappeared from the table almost immediately. Of course, the star of the meal was the fried chicken. The coating was wonderfully crispy, and the meat inside was tender and juicy. Personally, I found the seasoning a touch mild, but a few dashes of hot sauce brought everything together beautifully. For context, my benchmark for fried chicken is Willie Mae's in New Orleans, which is high praise in itself. What really elevated the experience was the atmosphere and service. The bartenders were incredibly friendly, energetic, and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we sat down. Their enthusiasm added to the fun, relaxed vibe of the afternoon. Between the delicious food, warm hospitality, and perfect post-wine-tasting setting, we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. This was the ideal casual Napa stop, and I would happily return on my next visit.

Yummy! Went here again and had their fried chicken again. The 2 sauces mixed together, made the chicken yummy. The waffles presentation was great. Tasted good with the whipped butter. Nice Mother's Day brunch for all of us.

Okay fried chicken. Nice ambiance. Pretentious and difficult service. Tons of tables and reservations available on a Sunday night. Wanted to have some chicken and a few drinks. They don't allow you to eat the chicken in the restaurant at a table unless you get the prix fixe but they do allow you to eat it on a bench outside like you're not an actual person. Honestly for value Jollibee is way better. Also, they gave me like 70% chicken drums. Steer clear.

Any trip to Napa, accentuated by the world-renowned wine vibe, the lush landscape of flowering shrubs and bushes, and the carefully curated retail spaces, would be divine. But a trip to Ad Hoc elevated our experience to a whole new level. Our waiter Byron was attentive and knowledgeable, making excellent suggestions and checking back to ensure our satisfaction. Of course, the influence of Thomas Keller's standard of Michelin-level cuisine found its way into every course of the prix-fixe menu. From French Onion Dip with homemade chips, to tender Flank Steak paired with tasty broccolini, to crunchy Buttermilk Battered Chicken, all carefully paired with exquisite Chardonnay and Rosé, the meal was delectable. Then there was more... Luke Floyd, one of Keller's cadre of managers at both Bouchon Bakery and Ad Hoc, checked in on our service, responded to our questions about Thomas Keller with fascinating detail, and then graciously guided us on a personal tour of Ad Hoc's immaculate, efficient kitchen, even introducing us to Head Chef Isaac. What an extraordinary experience! If you are planning on being within 50 miles of Napa anytime soon, make a reservation at Ad Hoc. You will give yourself the gift of inspiring menu selections and impeccable service, creating a memorable adventure in fine dining.

I was so excited to get a bucket of fried chicken, but it was way too salty and gave me and my fiance food poisoning for two days. When I reached out to tell the restaurant, I didn't get a response back, which was really disappointing since service was so lovely when we picked our order up.

If anyone could run an eatery on reputation alone, it'd be Thomas Keller. Kind of a bummer when taste & quality don't factor into the equation after a chef reaches certain career heights. Follow the gravel path behind Ad Hoc to their picnic & backyard area & you'll find yourself at Addendum. Open for just a few hours on Fridays & Saturdays, the window to eat here is limited. Menu is short & sweet, & relatively affordable compared to other Napa Valley meals. We ordered one of everything on their savory menu, $22 per plate: -- 3 pieces of buttermilk fried chicken served with macaroni salad, cornbread, & honey butter: random mix of dark & white meat. Batter is thick though not crunchy, as if it's been sitting rather than fried fresh, & meat was devoid of any juiciness. -- pulled pork sandwich on a Hawaiian roll topped with pickles: extremely dry pulled pork with a bbq sauce that desperately needed some sweetness to counteract the acidity. -- fried chicken sandwich on a Hawaiian roll with slaw, aioli, & pickles: this is odd to admit, even odder to experience, but the slaw & aioli were the best parts of the sandwich, as it gave the chicken strips some actual interesting flavor. Perhaps Addendum was once great, but I don't have a time machine to travel back to that time. In present day, it's an unfortunate TK fail.

We had been meaning to try Ad Hoc's fried chicken and glad we had a chance today at lunch. We had an elevated ambrosia salad, fried chicken and waffles, and a banana toffee. All great withe the fried chicken being amazing. Hot sauce was some of the best I've had and can buy down the street at Finesse. Great service and loved the experience. Highly recommend on your trip to Yountville!

Have Ad Hoc and Addendum phoned it in??? I rarely update my reviews, but after several mediocre visits to both, I feel the need to. On our last visit to Ad Hoc, we were excited to learn Addendum would have a more extensive menu including BBQ items. So we arrived to find the usual suspects: fried chicken, fried chicken sandwich. The pulled pork sandwich was the only BBQ addition. They also offered caviar with potato chips. I ordered a small bucket of the famous fried chicken and asked if I could request dark meat. "No, but they give you a pretty good variety" is what I was told. We received 2 wing pieces and 5 white pieces. No thighs, no drumsticks. The white meat was dry and under-seasoned. Maybe it wasn't brined long enough? The exterior was exceptionally thick and bread-y this visit too. We also got one seasonal green bean salad and the macaroni salad which were maybe half full at best. A joke for $8 each! There were about three bites worth of the green bean salad.

Solid fried chicken place! I don't usually like fried chicken. Good: - Limited parking but we got a spot super close by! - The 3 pc fried chicken was amazing, the chicken was super juicy, it also came with delicious corn bread and a mac salad - The bread of the fried chicken sandwich was great - Lots of cute seating options, all outdoors and in the shade which was nice on a hot day - Really fast service and you get food 10 min after you order Bad: - The chicken in the fried chicken sandwich was too dry for me Overall really liked the portion sizes and quality of food here.

I have been to Ad hoc restaurant before and it was great, never tried the addendum and I read so many good reviews about their fried chicken. So I was really looking forward to give a try. Arrived the place on a weekend and found that the place is not currently open. But we could order at the restaurant as take out (without the usual add-on and for an extra charge). We went ahead and ordered a small bucket. The order didn't take too long and as we were waiting, we saw a few other people came by and check out the fried chickens just like us (popular fried chicken spot indeed) Our small bucket came with 7 mix pieces. They were crispy and crunchy but I didn't get the " wow " feeling. They do seem to be less greasy than other fried chickens I had, but good or bad, that is really subjective. To me, I think a little grease actually enhance the flavor and hits the spot. The chicken meat was pretty tender and not dry but overall little lack of flavor.

Ask the Community - Ad Hoc & Addendum

Are they still open in October 2023 and is it white or dark meat?

No, they closed last weekend 9/30, and your bucket is mixed. The thigh meat is quite light, as a rule. Very yummy!

    Is it dog friendly?

    Yes!

Are they opened up again yet? If so, what are the operating hours-

    Email I got says: Starting June 24, Wed-Fri 3p-6p…

Is this open during the winter? I know in the past they've closed it, but not sure.

Weekends in the winter... Call or check website.

Can you bring your own sides?

I think so. It's an outdoor picnic area so you can probably anything you want but as a courtesy you should buy food from they too

The chicken here is absolutely amazing, so does anyone have any idea why they are only open 9 hours a week?

Does the chicken batter have dairy and/or soy?

You should give them a call. If you have allergies always call the restaurant and talk to the kitchen. Most fried chicken has dairy in the batter process, no idea about soy.

This place is aesthetically, pleasing nice decor. I love the chandeliers a very laid-back relaxed, but elegant vibe. The staff definitely exceeded my expectations. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating and did their job so well without being stuffy or overdoing it!!! Our server junior was on point very smooth attentive, not invasive and handled everything perfectly!! also I would like to give a special thank you to Maddie, and the other Latina young lady who assisted me with the birthday presentation for my partner! I greatly appreciated everything about this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I thought it was going to be bland and tasteless but everything was flavorful and super good and fresh. I also wasn't sure how the staff was going to be because we all know, Napa can be very pretentious and stuffy!!! they do their job so well especially they are mostly young! I was really surprised very good job with the staff. I really appreciated the treatment I received here.!! Food selection: RH burger, side of truffle fries, Caesar salad with grilled prawns, broiled, salmon, potato purée caviar bumps, and champagne. The champagne flight was good it featured, rosé, and brut I believe, it was my first time trying caviar because I'm not a big seafood person, but it was actually fresh and decent and I think it would par well if I got it with a food or an appetizer which they do offer potato chips & caviar. Everything was flavorful tasted really good. They nailed everything I was pleasantly surprised.!! Ambience: the ambience is definitely why I chose this place. It gives a very elegant, chill, relaxing vibe. I love the aesthetic. I loved the chandeliers. I love the beautiful furniture decor and they also have an outside area for dining as well, but even if you chose to dine indoor, it still feels like you're outside so win is a win. Only thing I would recommend is them steam cleaning the couches a little bit due to a lot of traffic. That's the only complaint that I had. Conclusion: whether you are just stopping in to grab a burger, a salad or a full course dinner this place definitely passed the vibeCheck!! the food was so good. I'm still thinking about it right now. I will definitely come back to this location. It was definitely worth the money and definitely worth the experience, especially for special occasions. I highly recommend. 10/10 THANK YOU RH!!!

Unfortunately, our experience on Memorial Day weekend was anything but. From the moment we arrived, the hostess set a tone that was unwelcoming and, frankly, rude. On a Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. One of the busiest hospitality weekends of the year. I understand staffing is difficult in the industry. What I don't understand is how a restaurant at this price point, in this location, can justify charging premium prices, expecting 20%+ gratuity, and then making guests feel like an inconvenience for showing up. That is a management failure, not a guest failure. A great front-of-house professional absorbs operational stress and protects the guest experience. That and the fact that they have never been to Napa/Sonoma Area in their 36 years in America, meant that my brother and I had to plan a trip. My brother selected Mustards Grill. It was along the way to our reservation to Beringer and continently along St. Helena Highway. Despite hearing about Mustards being a staple within the Yountville area, it was so my first time trying it too. We had a reservation for 4 and after getting taken care of by the courteous host and being welcomed by our waitress, we were left with waters and the menu. To get the most of the experience, my brother thought we should all share several items. We shared their famous Pork Chops, Duck Confit, Ribs and Cornbread, Squash Risotto, and a side of Green Beans. We were offered fresh bread and butter prior to the arrival of our entrees and shortly after enjoying the soft pillowy bread, we were ready for more. My parents, being Cantonese and coming from the restaurant background, really care about having fresh and quality ingredients and letting the flavors shine - not letting sauces dictate the dish. Despite it being American fare, they quite enjoyed each dish and went back for additional helpings after giving a small initial taste of each item. Our visit to Mustards Grill ended up being a joyous meal where my parents got more exposure to the wonders of quality American cuisine as well as marked a good start to the day we were spending in wine county.

We came in with no reservation, and happily, were still seated right away. After we got situated, I realized we had in fact been to a Mustards before - at their location in SFO airport! I hadn't previously made the connection, but the SFO Mustards was in fact somewhat of a ritual for us back in the day when we traveled more. We would pop into Mustards before flying out, or upon arrival - we're the only people we know that like to hang out in airports after a flight, but that's just our thing. But back to the Mustards in Napa. We were given our menus to look over. Their by-the-bottle wine menu, with the appropriate heading of 'Way Too Many Wines' is definitely one of the most extensive I've ever seen. Something for every taste and budget. The food menu at first glance appeared meat-heavy, but upon closer inspection I landed on a few vegetarian options that looked promising. We weren't super hungry, so we opted to share the grilled avocado tostada, and the macaroni & cheese. Both dishes were delicious, especially the tostada, loaded with sweet potato, black beans, avocado, and cabbage-jicama slaw - so tasty and satisfying. Comfort food with an upscale twist. I enjoyed their flight of sparkling wines; all three were very good, with the Domaine Carneros being my favorite. Our server was very nice and never rushed us despite our usual leisurely pace. After our meal, we felt like a little something sweet, so we ordered the lemon merengue pie. There was at least half a foot of merengue on the pie - great for visuals, not so much for your blood sugar. We left most of the merengue on the plate, but the pie was very good. Everything was satisfying, and we would return. The dining room is smaller than I would have expected, so even though we got lucky without a resie, I would recommend making one.

I ordered a breakfast burrito which was about $19. Given the convenient self serve water, and the comfortable chairs on the lanai outside I didn't mind the price. The burrito took longer than expected to come out. About 15 minutes but the wait was worth it. It was massive in size and completely filled me up. All the dishes looked great. I'd come back here for sure.

My wife had the shrimp ceviche which was passable but not special. The bowl they used is too small to get the marinade effectively which is the key to the flavor. Again the portion is small considering the price. Chips were good. We also got the truffle fries which again were tasty but not worth returning. The thing that is weird is we had to wait quite a bit of time for our food. This is fine but when the food came out it was not piping hot. Was the delay related to the expediter not get the food out as it sits on a counter? That is completely unacceptable. The default tip is 18% which is what I left but I had to get my own silverware, napkins and water. So really the tip is for the staff and not really for "service"
