I used to drive by this place almost everyday when I lived downtown and never went until I saw this place pop up on an instagram post and it looked so good! So, I had to try it. The wait was about 45 mins because it was packed and it's not a very big place. We were seated at the bar and were given drinks right away. We ordered the bruschetta and Caesar salad first. Then, for the entrée Bolognese. We got the appetizers very quick but, the entree took awhile. But, it was all very good! Adamo's is an authentic Italian restaurant that serves amazing dishes. We ordered two appetizers, ravioli, the bolognese, and the carbonara. We were very hungry. The ravioli had a savory filling with a subtly tangy tomato sauce. The Bolognese was robust and hearty, with a slow-cooked meat sauce that piled on top of the pasta, lots of flavor. The carbonara, however, stole the show. The creamy sauce was perfectly balanced with the smoky pancetta, and the pasta was cooked to an ideal al dente, so savory- I added salmon as my protein. Despite the culinary excellence, the dining experience was somewhat small interior. Tables were placed too close to each other, which made for a less than ideal setting when trying to enjoy a relaxed meal. However, the friendly and attentive staff more than made up for the tight space, ensuring that we felt welcomed and well taken care of throughout our visit. Overall, Adamo's dining experience was great. The delicious food and warm service make it worth a visit. Tip: I had a difficult time trying to find an open reservation online so I called and was able to make a reservation. Of course Friday nights and weekends are super busy. Enjoy! read more

This is one of our favorite Italian restaurants in Sac. Fresh pasta, fresh ingredients and wonderful atmosphere. The staff is always so friendly and don't rush you. We stared the meal with the bruschetta, the sweet onion jam and divana tomato were my personal favorites. I ordered the Winter Gnocchi it was hearty and yet light with the sauce and veggies. My fiancé ordered the Four Cheese Ravioli and thought the spice level was perfect. The spice wasn't overwhelming but was present and the pesto was very nicely balanced with the ravioli and spice. Tried to eat here. Was told we could only sit at the bar and would be a 20 minute wait. Waited close to 30 minutes--no luck. Was with my young son so we left because no one from the bar was leaving. There were two open tables maybe for reservations but one was cleared for 15 mins. Just WOW! I can't believe I have not been here before and cannot wait to go back. My daughters gifted me a cooking class with John; we made Tortelloni. I can't put into words the fun and educational experience we had. This class was 3 hours. It ended up being a 4-course lunch with wine pairings. We all learned to make this amazing Spinach Tortelloni (yes Tortelloni because we learned Tortellini is small and Tortelloni is larger). One of the best parts was the Trivia that we played. John is so knowledgeable in Italian history and geography. The wine was from Italy. Everything was just perfect. An amazing adventure. This place came highly recommended so I went in with very high expectations and unfortunately it was a let down. The service was okay, it was one server for the whole restaurant the day we were there, I think a staff called out sick. I felt bad for the poor girl, she was everywhere trying to do her best. We started with the bruschetta, which was a flight of different kinds. The predominant taste left in my mouth was sugar, they used jam on some of them and it was just too sweet. The flight also didn't include a classic bruschetta with regular tomato. The side salad didn't have a dressing on it, it was just mixed greens with pickled onions and olive oil marinated tomatoes. I didn't mind it too much because I'm a fan of raw veggies and pickled onion but I was surprised it didn't have training. I ordered the Four Cheese Ravioli with pesto. The ravioli itself was good, however, the pesto was on the verge of being inedible. It was very bitter and had a sharp spicy taste. I didn't mind the spice, I love the spicy food, but it was just so bitter, I didn't enjoy it at all. The sauce it was sitting in was also so oily, it was just a really bad dish. The star dish was the bolognese, I actually used the bolognese sauce for the ravioli at times mixing them to make it taste better. One of the best Italian spots I have tried in Sacramento! It's super chill, and they also have outdoor seating in their back patio. I wanted to try their usual pasta sauce for the gnocchi dish, yet this red sauce was spicy and did not disappoint (it did have a lot of oil, though). I thought the chicken was a little dry, but it definitely did not distract from the taste. And the salmon piccata with their creamy lemon sauce was delicious. Will definitely be back! read more

It was flavorful and the combination of ingredients on this plate was perfect! One of the best octopus we've had. Their main pasta dishes come with salad and garlic bread. Even their side salad was refreshing and hit the spot. And that garlic bread ummm wished we had more. 1. The Bolognese was so good with their fresh pasta and the loved the meat sauce. 2. Their Meatball Polenta was also great. Three good sized meatballs and creamy polenta. 3. Their Salmon Piccata was lemony and the salmon was moist and good portion. This is our second time there. Food is consistently good. Our Server was attentive and helpful.

We visited around 5pm and added our name to the list after realizing our group didn't have a reservation. We were told a table would be ready at 6:30pm. Even after returning on time, we still waited another 30 minutes while several walk-ins who arrived after us were seated first. No explanation was offered, and it left us feeling overlooked. When we were finally seated, it took about 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. Our server checked on us infrequently, and we had to repeatedly ask for basic things like clearing plates. At the end of the meal, the server also kept more cash from our payment than she was authorized to, which felt unprofessional and inappropriate. The unfortunate part is that the food was genuinely delicious, but the service overshadowed everything. Coming from a family of restaurant owners in this community, I've never felt so disregarded during a dining experience. We won't be returning, and I hope management takes steps to address these issues for future guests. read more

We just kind of walked in and the only thing that they had available was either at the bar or outside patio which sounded nice because the weather was warming up and to my surprise we were taken through the building out the back door to the rear of the parking lot with three tables set up as a makeshift dining area. I appreciate their efforts on trying to accommodate extra space however nothing says a good time like car exhaust filling your lungs. Because we were literally in the rear parking lot. The food was good., my husband had the Bolognese and I had the carbonara. The carbonara was ice cold by the time I got it they forgot our meatball which came at the end of my husband finishing his plate, which was disappointing.., although they took the meatball off the bill which we appreciated, I don't know that I would return just because the size of the menu was not as many options as I would have hoped for. read more

First time I tried this place out with my best friend. We lived how small and intimate it was. Everything was clean and they had it set up for family style seating as well as smaller tables. Stopped by here to try a pesto chicken sandwich and a cannoli to go. The pesto chicken sandwich was up there with the best I have had, just overall a really great pesto chicken sandwich and recommend it if you want a good sandwich or are there wondering what to eat. I wasn't a big fan of the cannoli, as I am generally not a big fan of mascarpone cheese and I think there was lemon curd in it as well but it didn't really work for me. The shell was very good though and felt like it might be freshly made there. Would definitely go back and get another sandwich or try other things on the menu. read more

I had the new seasonal gnocchi dish, which was the server's favorite on the menu, and it was delicious! The first bite gave me the happy dance. It was very garlic forward and the ricotta helped to mellow out the spiciness of the sauce. The chef did go heavy on the olive oil though. I would have appreciated less oil to make the dish lighter. Don't judge this book by its cover: exterior is unassuming, and is located adjacent to a laundry mat! Adamo's is a must, for any fan of Italian food. The pasta is all made in-house, and their dishes use the best ingredients. They feature seasonal dishes as well; their Winter Gnocchi was AMAZING! Gnocchi made in-house, with cream sauce, thyme, butternut squash, etc. Had all the comfort you need on a cold, December evening. I added grilled chicken, and it was perfection. Pasta dishes come with a dinner salad, and garlic bread (which I did not save room for unfortunately). Dishes are the perfect size, considering how rich each plate is! I recommend the gnocchi, the alfredo, and the bolognaise (because to-date, these are the three dishes I have had and they have ALL been wonderful). Restaurant has wine offerings, with something suitable for everyone's palate. I do not recall a cocktail list, in case anyone was wondering... desserts look yummy, but I have always been too full to make room for one. I'm sorry to say this was not a great experience in any sense of the word. My son and I came downtown to try this place. We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation and stood at the podium waiting to be noticed for about 5 to 10 minutes. There was one table for two which I assumed must have been for us finally someone came up and we gave our name and she pointed to that table. I said well I figured that was for us and I said I almost just went ahead and sat down and she sarcastically said "well thanks for your patience" then we sat and sat and sat and sat and sat until somebody came to take our order. I ordered salmon piccata, and my son ordered pasta Bolognese. The order took forever to come out the salmon I must say was absolutely perfect. It was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious the pasta however it was so so soaked in lemon juice I could not eat it. When she brought our main course, she said, did you get your salads? We said no so then she brought us the salads. I have to say that the two women that we dealt with who worked here both seemed very miserable and unhappy. They were not friendly nor worried about our happiness. They did not check on us because I would've sent my food back. She did not offer to take it off the bill Even though I ate none of the pasta. This sauce was unlike other carbonaras I've had. It was garlicky and smooth. It had the tiniest hint of pesto? Regardless so good! Bolognese. The meat on this thing! First of all the pasta was cooked perfectly but the meat sauce was amazing! Wanted to plaster it on bread all day!". Tiramisu: so light and airy! Perfect thing to take away your want of sweetness. Cannoli: this is the first time I've had a cannoli that didn't feel whip cream-y. The filling was thicker and all in all the mascarpone was delish! I tasted the polenta and it was fabulous.....BUT,...... the Ceasar salad came dry. It hadn't been tossed with any dressing. When my wife asked for dressing, the waitress brought a lump of a thick, yellowish, cheesy? substance that was so thick you'd need a knife to cut it. I ordered a cannoli for desert. The cream filling had a grainy texture as if something was wrong with the cream. 1 hostess, although polite, seemed like she didn't want to be there. MORE GOOD: I'd go back. John led the class and was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable, he answered all of our questions and even quizzed us on Italian trivia while we made tortelloni. I met a guy at a bar in Sacramento and the told me I had to visit Adamo's for dinner during my trip. I decided to take his word for it and came and I was not disappointed! :) First off, there is parking on the side of the building, which is always a plus. Second, we didn't have reservations, but we were able to get quickly seated a little after opening. We sat at the bar and enjoyed our experience there since we got to peek a little into the kitchen + chat with the employees. Everyone was super duper friendly and so helpful/accommodating! Is it just Sacramento or is everyone up there really nice? The food was also quite delicious and the portions were fair. I'm used to the LA style italian food scene where everything is overpriced, in small portions, and meant to be shared... However, the dishes here were large enough to make for an individual's entire meal. I got the risotto and really enjoyed it. I'm usually a little freaked out about risotto bc I'm always afraid it'll be too creamy/saucy. However, this was a clean risotto and wasn't overly heavy or creamy. Just right. My husband got the bolognese, which was also yummy. You can't go wrong! :) The octopus was also very tasty! Recommend! read more

There is a 33% chance you won't like your meal. 3 of us dining 2 liked our dinner 1 didn't. Two asked to upgrade to a Caesar salad, 3 regular salads showed up. Waited 10 minutes and then only 1 of the Caesar salads we brought to the table. 30 minutes later the 2nd salad arrived. Worst of all one nasty dirty bathroom. My 18 year old don introduced me to this place, he loves it. I've been a few times with him now. We have never had a reservation, but were able to get in. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is very good. My son has tried the bolognese, salmon, and chicken Alfredo over the few times we have been. He put them in order of his favorites as above, respectively. I have gotten the strawberry salad twice now and I absolutely love it. I also tired the meatballs, which usually served with polenta, but I asked for vegetables instead. It was very good. We also had the bruschetta for appetizer and the Caprese salad. Both were very good, but I prefer the caprice. The bolognese was a little bit salty for my taste, but I don't usually use too much salad in general. Each pasta dish came with a salad and garlic bread on the side. Definitely recommend the gnocchi. Arancini is a fried ball of goodness, with crunchy exterior, rice and veggies side. The dressing that came with it added just the additional flavor it needed. The service was quick and easy. The noodles were excellent but the sauce was missing something, maybe spice. The sauce on the bolognese reminded me of chef boyardee. It was good but not $30 good.
