My mechanic recommended Adem as the only smog test business she trusted. What great advice, and what a great experience. Adem is knowledgable, professional, fast, and friendly. He stayed late on his birthday to help me out even though we had never met before that day. I wish half the business owners I deal with were half as honest and courteous as Adem. I will be bringing my vehicles only to Adem from now. read more

Adem's Test Only - Hours of operation as of October 2012 - Smog Check Stations Near Me - San Jose, California

Adem runs a great operation! I found him on Yelp two years ago and he quoted a price over the phone. When I showed up he recognized my car from the conversation and honored the quote he gave me. Two years later I called him(anonymously) and he quoted me the same price! His price was 5 dollars lower than any of the other places I called. The best part though is he recognized me immediately. He gave me 5 dollars off since I had just got back in the country and he wanted to help me save some money. Highly recommend going to Adem! He is a man of his word! read more

Today I went for a smog check for my new stickers 2015 after reviewing everybody else's comments I decided to try this place myself service was fast, easy, and price was awesome!! I recommend this place to everybody!! See you in two years Adem! read more

Fantastic personality and service! To top it off: I called about 6 other test only shops around, Adem was the best priced and he checked the air in my tires too. read more

What a nice guy! He was honest, no hidden charges for SUV or larger vehicles like some places try to spring on you after you arrive. A real class act - he took off his work gloves, shook my hand, was so polite - it made the experience really charming! The waiting area is comfy but a little dingy - but I wasn't waiting long - and was on my way. Only downside, is the location is little hard to find at first. read more

Incredible service and the nicest gentleman ever! We are from Texas and did not have a clue to what we needed to get street legal in CA. They were very helpful and took time with us. I highly recommend. read more

I never thought I would go out of my way to review a smog check station but these guys are extremely nice and really quick. I was in and out in under 20 minutes, both of the gentlemen that helped me were very warm and polite, and they were very efficient. This is definitely my new go to place for getting smogged. read more

It's a little tricky to find but all I had to do was call and Adem was kind enough to go a few blocks down to find me! Friendly customer service and I got to use the Yelp discount. Will definitely come back for future smog tests! read more

The best Smog Check Shop that I've ever seen. Customer service is perfect and the owner Adem definitely knows how to take care of the customers. This is a smog check shop but he also tells you if your car needs something. I didn't realized that my engine oil level was so low and he recommended me to get oil change as soon as I can. You're a great person thanks a lot Adem! read more

Outstanding service. Provides good feedback on your car, in addition to prompt and efficient service. Won't take my care anywhere else for a Smog Test. read more

Adem is friendly and professional! I parked my car at a bit of a distance from the shop and he walked over to get it for me. The price was reasonable and the service was fast! Thank you! I will definitely be back. read more

Adem is very professional, an upstanding guy, and very helpful. I bought this car with a problematic engine-light (*note that smog is automatically failed for this type of problem). After a long costly fixes, the engine light is finally gone and I need smog test badly to get the registration going. I can only do it on Sunday at this moment and I found Adem and we got this resolved. My luck wasn't so good with that car but I was in luck to find Adem's place for Smog Check. Highly recommended, will come back. read more

This is my 2nd time SMOG check with Adem. First time was 2 years ago, it was great, but I was too lazy to write a review. This time was great again, so I wanted to write a review before I forgot it again. Fast, great service and price. Yesterday was a sunny day, he even offered me a chair in the parking lot, so I don't have to wait inside, how nice, thank you! read more

Fast and courteous. Checked air and oil for free and the person was a professional who genuinely cares about environment. The address is a bit wacky so call him if u are lost. It is on Almaden blvd. He was open on Sunday. All under 50 bucks. read more

I needed a smog test done and on a Sunday too. I called Adems smog service and they offered to meet me at the shop for the smog test. I was in and out in 30 mins. Very efficient and very reasonable price. One block away, another service quoted me $12.00 more for the same test and they did not offer Sunday appointments. read more

I saw his reviews on Yelp, called Adem, and went out of my way a bit to go to his shop. Competent and congenial beyond words. The price was right, and I chit-chatted with one really nice, conscientious small business owner. 6 stars out of 5!! The entrance is off of Almaden Road, not off of Lano St., even though the street address is Lano. read more

I had reached out to Adem over yelp message. He was very friendly , quick to respond, willing to work with my timeline and very cost effective. Also I was pleasantly surprised by the number of National Geographic magazines he has in the waiting area.would recommend him to my friends any day. Pleasure doing work with him. read more

Adem is great, friendly and professional!! he provides an excelent service and good recommendations. Glad I found this place, totally recomend it! read more

Took the old 911 to Adem's yesterday. Got there good and early because the previous weekend he'd been busy when I arrived mid-afternoon. This time no line and no waiting. Chatted with Adem some before he got started on the car. What a great guy. Very friendly and sincere. Walked to Mexico City (also 5 starts) for breakfast and when we got back the car was ready. And to my surprise the bill was for $20 LESS than the estimate ($48 instead of $68). How often does that happen! Chatted with Adem for another few minutes while we tended to the paperwork and then I was on my way. It's almost a shame that smog tests are only every two years because doing business with Adem is a pleasure. I would definitely recommend Adem to anyone and will be going back there myself whenever I need a smog test. read more

Possibly the nicest Smog-test guy ever. He will chat your ear off while testing your car. He takes a genuine interest in people and even though it's a "test-only" station, I've seen him give good advice to people who perhaps didn't pass the first time. I've gone to his shop with both of our vehicles for 4 years now. I would definately go out of my way to bring them to him in the future! read more

I visit Adem's tetst only for smoke check on 3/19/2011, and the service is good and quick. Definitely I will do smoek check after 2 years. The address should be 1654 almaden road, san jose, CA read more

I always go to Adem's when my car needs to get smogged. He was recommended by a friend and will treat you like family even if you are new. He is friendly and provides great customer service. He is efficient and well worth the money. Even when he is booked solid he tries his best to get you in & out in a timely manner. read more

This company we the one we chose for smog on my daughter's car. We parked the car in the lot and his equipment came to us. He was efficient and the car passed with flying colors. read more

Have gone exclusively to Adems for several years now. Great service, excellent facility. Adem goes out of the way to be friendly and professional. I wouldn't go any place else. read more

My car failed a smog check at a different test only station for legitimate reasons. The guy told me that the failure codes indicated that certain devices on the car were bad & needed replacing. I took it to our mechanic, Akins, the ONLY place I trust. The Akin's crew had it diagnosed & fixed at a better price than expected and needed fewer things repaired than the test only station had recommended. Akin recommended we go to Adem's Test Only Station & I am glad he did. Mr. Adem is a first class guy! His location is a little difficult to find, but his shop is neat, clean, and organized. There is a touch of family all over the place, which always gets my attention in a great way. Mr. Adem also has the most beautiful posters of Turkey on his garage wall. We had a nice discussion about Turkey. (Between talking with Mr. Adem and Akin & Aydin from Akins, I REALLY want to visit Turkey more than any other country in the world! Turkey is beautiful and full of so much history.) Mr. Adem performed a very thorough check on my vehicle, more than I have ever had from any place I have had my vehicles smogged at. He even filled the tires! Mr. Adem's pricing is competitive with other test only stations, but beyond the price is the satisfaction of feeling like a genuinely nice person has provided you with great service. read more

Great experience! Got there early, got out quickly with one customer ahead of me. Very friendly guy, service with a smile! Would definitely take our cars again, reasonable price a big plus! read more

Adem is a gentleman, a scholar and a mensch. He seems to relate to everyone who comes into his shop as a fellow human being, and definitely knows what he's doing. If you don't pass the smog check you have four weeks to get it fixed an come back for a free re-test. read more

I have only been to Adem's place twice, but that has been enough to fall in love with his services. And him. It has the olden day touch of humanity and dignity written all over it, along with the thoroughness and precision of a keen analytical mind. ******* Before I go on, here is a quick summary. PRO: Excellent diagnostic testing thorough to the last bit, plus rich human interaction CON: No rock bottom pricing So if you are only looking for a 'slam-bam' $29.99 smog test with indifferent services, Adem may not be your pick. Otherwise, keep this choice to the top of your list ******* First time I went, several things stood out to me about the place: magazines showing a certain taste (already mentioned in some other reviews here), a math book (!) that I poured over, a degree from Cal hanging on the wall conferring graduate degree in technical field (hat's off) to the owner, hot coffee and a cozy sofa to rest while you wait. But there was one more thing. He had a wall corner where hanged a 'collage' of random printouts and newspaper cuttings of a few death notices and obituaries. The people who passed on were from all possible racial backgrounds, so could not all be from a single family. While paying for the services, I asked Adem about it. He slowly looked up towards the wall corner. While gazing at it, he said, "They are some of my loyal customers and my friends. Few of them came to me from the day I opened this shop. I would like to believe they are still here with me," Then he walked back to his work space and his next car. ******* If you ever read this, Adem, I want you to know that we appreciate you and your business. I am also proud to call you my friend. You have my business. Archisman Bagchi San Jose read more

One thing I like about this place is that they are up front about the cost. Many places will give you a test fee, then there's a cost adder for the certificate and then more for taxes and more for this that and the other thing. Adem told me over the phone what the out-the-door cost was, why it was a little more than the standard smog fee (I was smogging a 1990 minivan, so it needed an extra test) and I was charged exactly what I was told. Adem is very friendly, and gave some free automotive tips while performing the smog test. My test took about 25 minutes, but only because there was one car ahead of me. I'll definitely bring my other cars here when they're due! read more

Adem really helped me out in a pinch. And what a nice guy! I was trying to sell my car by end of day on a Sunday and didn't realize that I needed to have a smog check done. I called him at 3pm asking if I could come in, and he told me to come right over. Super professional and friendly. He's my guy next time I need a smog check! read more

I was referred to Adem by a friend and am SO glad! I was in and out in 20 minutes (I had an appointment), received friendly, honest service and will definitely be back! read more

Adem was one of the most customer service friendly businesses I have dealt with when it comes to getting a smog check. He was quick to perform the check and had very fair pricing. It was clear he knew exactly what he was doing. I would highly recommend anyone who needs to get their smog check to come here. The prices are fair and he cares about his customers. He even went out of his way to help me back my car out of the station since it's a tight fit. I will definitely be coming back to here for any future smog checks. read more

Adem is a very nice person and I really enjoy working with him. He's now the only choice for me if I need another smog test in the future.

I have taken over 15 cars to Adem for smog. When I lived in the area I would go nowhere else. Having moved away to a different part of town, I still use Adem when possible. As all the other reviews say - professional, quick, and to the point, he's head and shoulder above the smog shops you usually get out there. And he like what he does - it clearly shows in how he runs his business and how he treats his customers (see the other reviews, they are 100% correct!) read more

Professional, extremely nice...we just moved from out of state so this was our first time going through the process and Adem made a smog test a nice experience! read more

This is a family owned business and it shows in the attention to the customer. Adem is a very personable and is genuinely concerned with providing the best service possible. He does his work quickly but will answer any questions that arise. The pricing is very reasonable and I will be bringing all my vehicles here for inspection in the future. read more

I was out on a Sunday looking for a last minute smog as we all do. With little hope, I drove to the almaden auto repair area, and that's where I saw the smog sign. Surprisingly, Adem's garage was open and he happily took me. I nervously asked his price through my window, he commented back "49.95"! The gentleman getting his car smogged chirped "can't beat that price". Adem began work about 5 mins later (immediately after he finished the other customer). My wife and I had our border collie with us and he happily welcomed the three of us into the lobby. He seemed to be a dog lover because he offered ours a nice bowl of milk while we waited. Through all the nice welcomed small talk he still finished the smog very quickly and then shared information about his home country with us, because we asked. At the end he even offered us an additional copy of the smog because he saw I was selling the car. Not too many people around like Adem any more! I wish I could take all my auto concerns to him. Maybe I will see what else he does. Thanks Adem! read more

Adem is the best!Fast, friendly and reasonably priced!I have been going to him for a few years now but my dad has been going there longer and won't go any where else. I went somewhere else a couple years ago and had crummy service compared to the A plus service I get here.Went back to him today and am so glad I did.I will never go anywhere again...in fact I will be taking my other vehicle in there in a couple months...Thanks Adem...you rock! read more

Very honest man. He would tell you what the problem with your car. He want to make sure that you're comfortable with it first before doing the work. He do the job done in timely manner. I'm going there again for sure. I'm female and he's still gentlemen to me. Best place to go there to have your smog check. Highly recommend. read more

Adem's is fantastic! I had an appointment for 11:30, got there at 11:15, he was working on another car. He finished it at 11:20, moved mine in, finished the job, and I was on the road at 11:35. He is a real gentleman and the price is very good! He get's my vote for Small Business Owner of the Year! read more
