Rack of lamb with ocean sauce.
    Marc W.

Last night was my second trip To Adolfo's and it did not disappoint. Rather than go off the menu as last time, I opted for the special. Rack of lamb with ocean sauce. It was amazing. Service was great and as a reminder, the place is SMALL-about 10 tables. They do not take reservations but there's a bar downstairs to wait it out. One small side note-if they opt to offer this or similar specials more frequently they need to invest in better steak knives. Yes. The lamb was as tender as could possibly be but the knife was slightly stronger than a plastic spork.

The place is tiny and perfect!! Got seated just before 9:30, the last seating is at 9:30. We needed to get food in our stomach before continuing to enjoy Frenchman St. ordered Steak Scotty and a side salad. DELICIOUS! Perfect cook. Seasoning was spot on. Was so happy with this place

This may very well be my NEW FAVORITE NOLA restaurant. In the 25 years I have been coming to NOLA...I finally pulled the trigger and ate at what I heard was a legendary restaurant! What I thought was myth and legend was entirely true. An amazing small local joint with ridiculous food with service to match. Fresh clams with a garlic sauce for starters, pasta with homemade marinara and the special...crab stuffed blackened grouper with the ocean sauce with a little spice and shrimp & crawfish sauce!!! AMAZING. The ambiance was amazing, incredible service, the staff didn't rush us and 1 1/2 hours later... it was one of the most enjoyable dinner services I've ever had in New Orleans.

I had an unexpectedly authentic Italian dining experience at Adolfo's on Frenchmen. I honestly didn't even know this place existed and stumbled upon it by accident. It's a small restaurant with limited seating, and you'll need to climb a narrow staircase to get inside. Still, it's absolutely worth the visit--especially if you're planning a romantic night out and want to impress. I loved the Pasta with Italian Sausage, and the Chicken Parmigiana was perfect.

This place was mid. The ocean sauce was good but my cut of veal was not. Cute story but the food wasn't anything memorable. I judge Italian spots by their marinara sauce & cheese & their's was just not it for me. Rao's is better, actually. I'd suggest the ocean sauce with a different protein. The service was excellent, but the dining room was pretty tight and loud (again, it's NoLa) so that's expected. The desert was fine but again nothing memorable. I probably wouldn't return or recommend given the trillions of options nearby.

This is a repeat for me. When ever I am in NOLA I try my best to dine at Adolfo's. This last time, we stopped by a little after 6 on a Wednesday in March. We were seated right away and had a lovely meal. The plates are huge and delicious. Be prepared for a memorable meal in the tiniest restaurant!

Doesn't get any more NOLA authentic than this! Very cool, old space and building. This is a must stop place, if not for the restaurant, then for the bar downstairs. Live music was great! Waitress was awesome. Gave us suggestions on different dishes. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I chose a special that was a flounder with shrimp and crawfish with their house sauce. Huge portion and it was excellent.

The most amazing food I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing! Sitting above the Apple Barrel Bar, this quaint little joint is easy to miss but hard to forget if you're in the know. First seating is the best, you're almost greeted as one whole table. Hearing the specials as one, meeting the staff as one, it's a really nice moment you share together that encapsulates the NOLA vibe. For dinner we enjoyed the infamous ocean sauce over the stuffed flounder and it did not disappoint. The creamy, spicy sauce had chunks of crab and shrimp, atop the flaky flounder; it was so delicious! The linguine was so fresh, the red sauce had so much depth, everything was just divine! Cannot wait to come back!!

Service was great and a nice off the beaten path restaurant. We got there approx 10ish min early. Shortly after a line formed. We got the special appetizer steak bruschetta, it was amazing. My husband got the fish with ocean sauce, it was great. I got the Rachel's pasta. Both entrees were good but the sauce on the pasta was watery. You had to use the spoon to gather the sauce. For the price of the food I don't think I will return but the atmosphere was good. I recommend to try and see if you like it.

Warning to others, the marinara is spicy! It's our own fault because we didn't realize it was creole style Italian. Service was slow probably because there wasn't an empty table in the house. Due to the limited seating, it's very crowded and loud inside hard to hear the person sitting right across from you. High priced

The best things in life are unplanned, and that's exactly how we stumbled upon this hidden gem. We were walking around Frenchmen Street and stopped at the bar downstairs. I noticed a staircase and decided to go up not realizing there was an entirely separate restaurant waiting for us. We had no dinner plans so we decided to put our name on the list. This place is tiny - probably no more than 10 tables and you can see the small kitchen with just two or three cooks working. Here's some of what we ordered: - Chicken Brenda A lemony spinach sauce that paired beautifully with the side pasta. Might sound like a simple dish, but the flavors were next-level. Definitely worth trying! - Ocean Pasta- this was recommended by the waitress and 100% my favorite dish here. MUST TRY! - Escargot - My first time trying escargot, and I am officially obsessed. I don't even remember exactly how it was prepared but WOW. - Mussels - Another absolute flavor explosion. This dish was incredible. Everyone at the table loved their meals and the atmosphere made the night even more special. I celebrated my birthday here surrounded by my family, enjoying amazing food, wine, and great service. A dinner filled with laughter, great conversation, and unforgettable food. Thank you Adolfo's!

The restaurant is upstairs. There's a unisex bathroom in the corner past the door and the cash register area. There are 11 tables in the restaurant, so arrive early or accept your fate. Don't say nobody told you. When we arrived, it was dark and hot inside. I thought it was unusual mood lighting, but Gary explained the electricity was out and recommended we come back after a bit. Apparently a transformer had gone out, so it was lights out all along Frenchmen. We moseyed a few blocks to a brewery, and the lights flickered on about an hour later. Perfect timing--we were the last of 6 tables to be seated, and then they had to start turning away customers, as Gary was the only waiter on staff. Adolfo's doesn't take reservations, so if your timing isn't right, or you're due for a dose of karma, you'll be out of luck with an unimpressed date. Don't make a scene and just come back another time. It's worth it. Gary masterfully waltzed from table to table, giving us all the rundown of evening specials and apologizing for the earlier electricity snafu--a very gracious and polite host. We started with the sausage and spinach cannelloni, a perfectly-balanced palate pleaser with strong notes of fennel in the sausage and something that might be too spicy for certain people. There was a beautifully light lingering sensation of either crushed red pepper or perhaps cayenne. 10/10 My entree was the Fish Missy. Half was sauced with creamy, lemony spinach, and the other half was generously embellished with crabmeat and capers. Divine. Sent by the gods. 10/10 My handsome date devoured his stuffed flounder in ocean sauce. While the sauce had a wonderful flavor of its own, it also let the taste of the crawfish and shrimp shine. Although il sure some people prefer it, I did see a vein in one of the shrimp, so I say 9/10 Everything about Adolfo's is exactly what we love about dining out: intimate setting, superb service (even under pressure!), unique dishes with flavorful consideration, and located in a spot with opportunities for many interesting side quests. Looking forward to our next visit.

    Do they accept reservations?

No reservations. Walk in, get your name on the list

Are they open now? I keep reading they are closed indefinitely?

It is currently closed as owner is recovering from an illness.

Do they have a cork fee?

    No, they do not

Can the accommodate a party of 7?

Yes. They did have a couple of tables that size. You may want to call for reservation as seating is very limited.

If I want to get a table as soon as they open, can I get there early and sign in? Is there a sign in book? How early should I get there. I don't mind sitting for a while and having a drink downstairs.…

It's like any other restaurant were the sooner you get there, the sooner you will get seated, based on your party size. No they don't have the waitlist available before they open.

Is it still BYOB...or BYOWine? Haven't been in a few years.

No, they have beer and wine. Nobody in our group asked for cocktails so I don't know about that. We were just there this past April. Get the ocean sauce.

We saw on the menu that checks could not be split, which was fine even though split would be preferable to us. So, when our server told us the check can't be split but she can "take multiple cards" I was a bit confused and asked if she could explain more since that's what we might do, since she said it was possible. Already there she gave attitude and said I don't know how else to explain it to you in a rude tone. After we finished our food, we asked her to take multiple cards for the check and she told us to write on the back what to charge each card. I apologize that I did misunderstand what she meant, and put the items rather than the exact amount to charge each card. She came back and said, "you did exactly what I said not to do." So I said sorry and was in the midst of redoing it by calculating when she just snatched it from me and said she'll just do it. I had no problem doing it nor did we complain even once. After a while, understandably, she came back and basically scolded us, saying what if she was busy she wouldn't have been able to do this....but she said she could do it in the first place! We understood from the get go no split checks but then she gave the option of multiple cards so obviously we took it. The food was good and the ambience was nice. I enjoyed the open kitchen concept and seeing the pizza oven. But the service ruined it for me. I work the food industry and would have never acted this way. Nevertheless, I would come again but would not want that server.

Won't be going for pizza here. Speghetti also had an odd flavor which the kids not I enjoyed. Kind of like vinegar. The tagliatelle though was amazing. The sauce was spot on just a little too frugal with it. The truffle was a great mix and just the whole dish was a balance of savory umami. Would love to see a protein with it though. Tried the meat and cheeses which were fantastic as well with the accompaniments and fried bread. I really enjoyed the chicken patte. The prosciutto was good nothing exciting. The bresaola was ok. The matru, bocconcino, and Harbison were all good. Of all the desserts tried the lemon sorbet was best but thats from brocatos. One of my fav places. The banana cake was not bad. Liked how it wasn't that sweet if you don't eat the brittle. The chocolate coconut didn't care for because of the hazelnuts. Will have to try another pasta to see if they match the deliciousness of the tagliatelle.

A Perfect "Old-School Meets NOLA" Date Night…read more If you are looking for a true "date night" atmosphere where you aren't treated like just another table number, Vincent's Italian Cuisine is a gem. Having grown up eating in New York's Italian stalwarts and traveling through Italy, I'm often skeptical, but Vincent's manages to strike a beautiful balance. It captures that authentic, old school Sicilian vibe without ever feeling tacky, all while maintaining a distinct Southern charm and New Orleans flavor. The Ambiance & Service The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for!! It was intimate, welcoming, and intentional. A huge part of that experience was our waiter, Greg. He was incredibly hospitable and kind, making us feel genuinely cared for throughout the evening. The Food The food quality overall was excellent. We ordered: The Pork Chop: This was the absolute star of the night. I would order this again in a heartbeat. It was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. Crab and Shrimp Linguine: The seafood was fresh and the linguine is clearly homemade. Wine Selection: They have a lovely wine list that paired beautifully with the meal. A Note on Texture & Coffee My only critique for the kitchen would be the pasta texture. As someone who prefers a firm bite, the pasta here leans much softer. While homemade pasta is softer, the penne was a little too soft for my liking. We specifically requested our side of penne be prepared al dente, but it still arrived quite soft. If you are a die hard fan of firm pasta, just be aware of the house style. I did not mind it much once it did come because everything else was perfection. We finished the night with a slice of chocolate cake, which was delicious. However, the coffee was a bit of a letdown. It felt a little watered down and could definitely be stronger to match the richness of the dessert. Final Verdict Despite the softer pasta and the mild coffee, I will absolutely be returning to Vincent's. The hospitality and the quality of the main courses make it a standout. I'm already looking forward to trying more of the menu! The hostess was also a real gem and so warm. THANK YOU!

Kale & Brussel salad was very tasty. It was paired with a lemon/anchovy vinaigrette and thin sliced red onions. I believe the greens could have handled a thicker dressing and could have also used a sweet note, such as pomegranate. Spaghetti - It wasn't traditionally which is something we knew and wanted to pair with the drum. It was okay. I have had pasta with simple ingredients that were fantastic but this didn't hit that mark. It's the only thing I wish we wouldn't have ordered. Bolognese - Incredible!!! My Wife loves Bolognese so it is a dish we typically try when we go on vacation and restaurants known for their bolognese. This bolognese was compromised of short rib and pancetta. The beef flavor hit you over the head in the best way possible. Top 5 bolognese we have ever had for sure. Drum - Can't recall whether it was baked, seared or both. However, the crust was amazing and held up although it was served in a very delicious broth. It was paired with capers and fennel. Butterscotch Budino Dessert - I hate I didn't get a photo. My Wife doesn't like butterscotch however, we took a chance on this after the waiter strongly suggested it. It didn't disappoint. It was described as a pudding like dessert however, it was thicker. The consistency and mouth feel were a lot better than pudding. Service - 10/10 Food - 7.8/10 I would give this place on yelp 4.5 stars however, you can rate with whole stars.
