I've been with these A-holes for 17 years. I moved four years ago. They said I can remove the old equipment myself and they would install it at my new address no problem. I had a lot of issues for awhile but they finally got it all working fine. I moved again this past August. In June they told me that they would give me a new lower contract price If I renewed the contract. I told them I'm having a house completed in August. I stated want to keep the old equipment and move it with me to new house like I did previously. (The old cameras had all been recently upgraded). They said no problem just let us know when you move and will take care of everything. So I sign the contract. August 15th we move. I call ADT a few days later and they say no we can't move equipment from your old house to your new house. I tell her the your renewal department said you could. Beware neighbors! No! No! No! So We had ADT installed last June 2019 after being pressurized by this sales manager named Raul Medina. He sugar coated a lot of things to get you to buy from him, he said that the camera are unlimited storage for recording which is untrue when we verified with the technician if we go over our storage limit we will have to pay extra, Raul also said each camera records 15mins straight every clip, unlike other camera that only records for 30seconds which is also a lie, each clips only last 30sec every clip. He also lied about having patrol come to our house in the event we have a glass break or an alarm that we are never going to get charge for having patrol come over and check. Another lie he told us was the $99 that we paid first will be the patrol, fire alarm and police to come by all included for unlimited visit in the event of a glassbreak and alarm. What made us said yes was he said we have 3 Days to try the device and can cancel hassle free within the 3days, after a day having the device in our home we decided to cancel it out since my coworkers who also have security system never pays $70.99 for their service and devices, which meant ours was expensive. I called the next day to cancel the service also within that promised 3 days cancellation, what he never mentioned to us was there will be a $899.00 removal fee, after telling us to try the device out within the 3 days to cancel. So we end up being stuck and force to have this 3 years of contract since we can not afford to pay for the $899 removal fee which is due right away. Lawwddddd, Thank you for Cindy W. I don't know where she is located but I spoke with her on the ADT 800 number. Yelp, This everything that happened. My exterior camera stop sending notifications, I called ADT 800#, spoke with someone who told me to delete the exterior camera from my app and (WE) would add it back. I deleted it as directed. I then asked his part of WE, How do we add it back? He told "ME" he would send "ME" an email with instructions on how to add it back!!! What happed to "WE" though? I ended the call (was at work& didn't have time for all that) and forgot all about it. This brings us to today. I checked my email and didn't see an instruction email. I then called the 800# and there was 29 to 66 minute wait. I opted for the call back. While waiting I started a chat on the ADT site with an agent named STEVE G. We typed back and forth for over 65 minutes and he tells me, "Rosalind there's nothing else we can do". He didn't have the answer. I pay for services and equipment monthly and I'm not being notified of activity on property but there is nothing else that can be done?? I was about to say something to Steve but luckily my phone rang. It was ADT with the call back. This guy gets on nd tells me somebody else is in my account so he can't access it. I told him it was Steve (Why was Steve still in my account? He had no resolve according to him) from the virtual chat. It took me almost 45 minutes on hold to finally get connected to one of the rudest customer service agents I have ever encountered- Bill! I've been a customer for over 25 years and 10 years with my current home. I just upgraded my internet service to wireless and my 10-year old panel was not compatible with wireless. I call ADT after hours (the night before) and spoke to an individual about my situation. This individual told me that after 10-years, I should due for a free upgrade panel that would take care of my problem and to call back the next day when the service department was open. So, this is where Bill comes into play. I tell Bill about my upgrade to wireless internet service and my conversations with the ADT Rep the night before and ask Bill if I can be scheduled for the free upgrade control panel. Bill then asks me if I expect to get free items when I shop At Walmart!!!! I'm shocked. I then explain again about my conversation with the ADT Rep the night prior. Bill just continues to tell me I should not expect anything for free, he's very condescending and extremely rude. I finally tell him he's crossed the line. I don't think he expected me to speak up and hold my ground. A big fat Zero stars for ADT. Every single time I call they put me on for over 45 mins being transferred from one phone rep to another over and over again. Each time I have to repeat the reason I call, name of account. address, security pass word. Just to be transferred again and be put on hold. Thank goodness I figured out how scummy their practices were before i signed the contract. Adt sales person will give you a low rate quote over the phone and then not have any of the addons included, that you discussed over the phone, in the contract, but will have the same price they quoted. So in short they wait for the tech to come out and give the proper quote hoping you'll give because they're already there and just either get less items than expected or a much higher monthly rate. When you want to setup an account( which i tested 3 times) they'll transfer and answer right away. If you have a complaint get ready to be placed on hold indefinitely. I don't know how anyone could risk locking them in as their security provider for 5 years with how inept or intentionally misleading they are. I'd rather pay 5-$10 more (if i was willing to pay 100/month) for a company like Vivint, that has better equipment and reasonably same services than go with adt. ADT bought out Protection One a while back and things went south very quickly. My business had been with Protection One since 2003. We've been a reliable, paying customer for all these years. Back in May we decided to switch to a local security company owned by an acquaintance of mine. I contacted ADT at that time and was told we needed to jump through a few hoops before we could end our relationship. I sent them an email to let them know we were no longer interested in their services. A few phone calls later I was told to write them a letter in addition to the email and phone conversations. I received a notice from ADT security that they were raising the rates. I thought that was an insult since I could not use my malfunctioning alarm for almost a year due to the pandemic safety protocols that employees cannot enter the home to fix the alarm system. So I called ADT to express my displeasure of them raising the rates on a system I could not use for the past year. Now that the pandemic was over the rep said he would send someone out. The rep agrees that I pay the extra few dollars a month insurance for calls of this nature and never once did he mention there would be a $69 service fee to come out. So I believed that the service would be covered under my insurance. He only said yes you have the insurance and you're covered. So the tech came out and before proceeding to work he never mentioned a $69 service fee. He only said mam your battery is dead in the control panel and he will replace it. I'm thinking okay all this is covered no mention of money yet. Once the tech finished installing the battery in the control panel he says its going to be $99. I responded for what? He said it is $69 for coming out and $30 for the battery. I responded that I had insurance which the rep on the phone verified. The tech responded that the battery in the window sensor would have been covered but not the control panel which to me seemed should be the other way around because there is no way to open the control panel without the expertise and tools of an ADT tech. So I called ADT security and told them how I was blindsided on the charges and had I known there were going to be charges I would have opted not to have the service done since I was canceling my service in a few months when the contract ends anyway. To add insult to injury the rep says he cannot take back the battery because it was a non refundable item. So now I'm forced to keep a battery that I had no idea was going to cost $30 to install and is non refundable. I felt like I was bamboozled or some type of bait and switch tactics by this company. We absolutely love our ADT Security System. Our installation was done by Don, who ROCKS He was friendly, knowledgeable, highly experienced and very thorough. He was helpful in the placement of our panel and motion detectors, finding us a better location (both for our use and the installation) than the one we'd originally planned. One team came at 8pm and wouldn't leave until I finally had to be very direct about them coming so late at night. Very uncomfortable. ADT Security Services - Treating customers like a one night stand I sold my home and ADT just hit my bank with a charge of $812.59. Why you ask? Well I contacted my local ADT representative Paul R and he told me that the new owners decided to go with COX for their security service. Funny, the security system that I had in the old house was there when I activated the ADT service. I didn't get new equipment. It was pre-existing. So according to Paul R they charged me $812.59 for an alarm system that I never installed because the new homeowners prefer Cox. Interestingly, I didn't activate the ADT service immediately. The alarm system / equipment was in place for 7 months before I activated the service. So did they charge the previous customer for cancelling their service when I failed to activate the service too? Only a subpoena for customer records will tell. I called Paul and he told me that he has to reach out to the billing department to see if they will reverse the charge but it is going to take a few days because they only respond to e-mail. Yeah. Officially I have no faith in their ability to refund my account. Now some may say, "let your credit card company / bank fight the battle for you" and I agree but it shouldn't have to be that way. With that said I have some advice for anyone that has issues with ADT. If you are not in a contract with ADT, find another security company. If you are in a contract, bide your time and once it is up, run. Post a factual Yelp review and warn others If you happen to have thousands of Facebook friends - tell them all to avoid or dump ADT. Remember they are publicly traded. If like me, you have 3,065 LinkedIn connections, write an article about your experience that will be shared with your network and beyond. Make sure the article gets to the desk of their CEO, Tim Whall. Reach out to family members. I personally have 6 that I know of that use ADT. Each of them is worth $600 - $700 a year. Have them cancel their services. Find more ADT customers and share your story. Are you one of those people that is part of a private Facebook group for your neighborhood or former neighborhood? You may have access to 600 people in your neighborhood. Share your story in these private groups. Block ADT from doing business with your neighbors. If you happen to have a friend who is a state Senator or other elected official, tell them your story and ask them to look into ADT and their business practices. Have a friend with a local radio show? Call in a favor and put ADT on blast. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. File a complaint with the FTC. File a complaint with the Rip Off Report. File a complaint with Adam Paul Laxalt (Attorney General). File a complaint with the Nevada Department of Business and Industry. Look online and see which of the numerous class action lawsuits you can join. I have had a problem with ADT for over two years. I purchased a house security system for my mother-in-law and we could never get it to work from the day. We received everything in the mail. Customer service tried a few times over a few days and was not successful. It seemed like the base of the security system was not working properly, I decided to bring the security system to my house in Las Vegas Nevada to see if I could get it to work here since I already had a working system from protection one, which is now ADT. Upon hooking up the system and calling customer support to activate the system they cannot get it to work either and this went on for a few weeks and a few months and now we are coming up on three years. I have continued to pay my monthly subscription charge of approximately $50 per month And the system has never worked. I have called numerous times to try and get my system to work without success. ADT he even offered to give me a brand new base system since they have a new one now, but I would have to start my three year contract all over again I decided not to do that because I've been paying them for almost 3 years now and my contract is almost up and the system has never worked once I would like for ADT to compensate me something for my faithfulness of paying monthly, and not having any type of service at all for almost 3 years. This has not been resolved for almost 3 years and I need answers. Predatory dealer practices. Alarm does not function as advertised. They do not offer battery operated cameras like they claim They will not cancel you in the first 30 day despite them saying so. The adt company still charges from my account and they didn't give my money back. The service is very bad . I had a protection one system, it was getting quite old. After ADT bought out to Protection One, I was told that ADT had a better and more up-to-date system, I used both with smart home features. After much trouble purchasing the new system, I had my system changed to the new AT&T system. If I had to do over again I would've kept the old protection One system or change to a Rng system. My experience with ADT from day one to the present is horrible in every aspect. The salesman sold me items that were not usable with the new system, he misrepresented what it would do and didn't know much of anything except how to sell. Upon installation I was told I needed to pay more money, for the items that were usable, as the salesman had not included them in my bill. I did not yet know that they were have no purpose for me The installer did next to nothing to inform me on how the system worked and left no owners manuals. Upon my request the salesman sent me some links to information that told me nothing. The connectivity between the home systems in the alarm is very poor and much worse than the old protection one system or a ring system. The system will arm with doors or windows open, which can be a problem due to the slow connection between my homes wired sensors and the ATT controller. The controls in the house are basically useless as you need to use the ADT app to do most operations of the system. After paying for a year service in advance for the new system, ADT kept billing me for the old system. I have made many calls to resolve this but it is still not resolved. I told the sales manager how unhappy I was with the system and the fact I was being billed for the old system, he said he would take care of the billing and set up an service call, to try and resolve some of my issues with the system. The billing was not resolved and the service call was never fulfilled. To this date they have over billed me over $200 and sent me a credit for about $41. BUYER BEWARE, the contract you sign, eliminates you being able to get out of this horrible service and system for many years. read more

I've tried to cancel my account 3 times now!!! They keep transferring me to the only person who can cancel "manager". The second time they reimbursed me the money from the first time I cancelled then I get another bill for twice the amount than before. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE management and service. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I don't know how they can be so incompetent. read more
